Banking business is very lucrative in Nigeria! From my own perspective,banks that don't give at least 10% dividend yield have bad management!

That is why what I use in authenticating any result is the dividend declared and paid, mind you some companies used to take bank loans in order to pay dividend.

That's the reason I always follow the dividend!

Most of the results we see are not true. The board and d mgt decides how much they want to declare. Some can make hug money and declare less, some can make small and declare big, then reduce the payout. Don't forget the financial engineering by cots.

It is only a gullible person that will doubt this! Everything is possible in this country! Most of the loan impairments and profit warnings may be fake,they are just means to take advantage of the shareholders.

One, is the general fall in the prices of equities(shares) of listed companies in the NSE;two,introduction and implementation of the electronic dividend mandate management system(e-DMMS),etc. Just search for the rest online.

Read the financial statements sir... Transcorp owns 83% of Transcorp Hotels, in effect the hotels is a subsidiary and it is consolidated as part of Transcorp's numbers

There's a note on segment information that breaks out where they are losing money (Agric etc) and where they are making it (hotels etc)

Why was the hotel listed as a separate entity? Please,I need answers from the house.

Transcorp Hotels used to be the engine(cash cow) of Transcorp,and the hotel is no longer part of Transcorp!

My trap for FBNH is ready and I am now on observation mood;at worst 40 Kobo,and at best N1.00 dividend.

Truth is, you can't predict the market. Before, we have had seasons when immediately after ex div (Mark down), prices recovered same day. So capital was preserved why dividend was earned.

I feel an increase in short termers in the market is affecting us. If we still had huge impact from Foreign investments, which most times are long termers, they would not be thinking of playing short term. A typical huge fund manager buys in, earns a div yield of 11-12% which is cool, waits close to one year to review if the investment should be disposed of, expecting that at least capital should be preserved within the period. So in essence you have more buyers before dividend mark down date and less sellers immediately after.

We just need to understand the times and play.

APC has brought tremendous change! Those foreigners will still come,there is no other stock exchange like our lovely NSE!

Our noble NSE can be likened to Nigerian public universities,many persons got admission last year,many persons will gain admission this year!

So many persons just graduated this year,so many persons will also graduate next year!

Some persons dropped out last year,some people will drop out next year!
