you are correct. satellites tend to drift emphasis on 'tend to'. you are also correct, there is a gulf between theory and practice although i have neither propounded nor rehashed any theory. you see enitan, these statements do not in anyway show my post or the essence of it to be incorrect. i am glad to know that you are a certified telecoms engineer, at least i know where to direct my questions. for the records though, i am not exactly without knowledge with regard to theory vs practice. a man with a post graduate degree  in engineering from cranfield in the UK can't be. or can he?

you have treated the fact that there are some good satellite installers of the commercial genre with levity. If you hit the right arc durring installation,all other problems that follow are minor and i use the word advisedly.There are installers who can achieve this and in effect achieve a trouble  free mobile dish installation. We must get away from the erroneous belief that unless you install dishes or any other fta gizmos yourself you are not an enthusiast or that you are any less an enthusiast. I reckon we should all look up the meaning of the word enthusiast in the dictionary. Anybody can enjoy a mobile dish configuration as long as it is properly set up.

please understand this. That a receiver is fried does not necessarily mean that it is fake. One may say that a genuine receiver is better equipped to handle some malicious software than the non genuine one. This does not in anyway suggest that the genuine receiver can not be disabled by malicious software of certain configurations.
Please for those of you who download software i suggest you use download managers with community feedback. This way you can get feedback from folk who have downloaded and tried the said software. The point of installing software is to enhance performance not to cripple the recipient gizmo. For the avoidance of doubt patches are also included in the software category.

while basking in the euphoria of season 4, we should all take some time out and reflect on what direction we want to go with this forum.
Lately we have had an explosion of johnny come lately self styled affecianados of the fta satellite tv who in the main just waffle.
I suggest we all think seriously about this and conduct ourselves in a manner consistent with the goals of this forum.
