European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Tevez Thinking Of Quitting Football by EFCC1(m): 1:28pm On Nov 26, 2010
Carlos Tevez says he will only continue his career in Europe for "three or four years" as he has grown tired of the money swamping professional football.

GettyImagesCarlos Tevez has often expressed his dissatisfaction during his time at Manchester City

Tevez often cuts an unhappy figure and 12 months ago said he would consider retiring from professional football if Argentina won the World Cup finals as he wanted to spend more time with his family.

He returned from South Africa to captain Manchester City this season but it appears that football's financial focus, and a lack of respect from young players emerging from the ranks, has once again led the striker to ponder his future in the game.

"I don't want to play anymore," Tevez told TyC Sports. "I'm tired of football, but also tired of people who work in football. I don't want to play anymore, and I'm talking seriously.

"Football is only about money, and I don't like it. There are so many agents with really young footballers ,  it's awful, as these young players are not interesting in winning titles, they only want money. The young players think that they have won something in football because they have two cell phones and a house. Today, there are many bad people in the football business, and you have to fight with them all the time. I'm tired of that too.

"Today, the young players have no education at all, and I don't want to listen to them. When I played in Boca, when [Martin] Palermo or [Juan Roman] Riquelme talked, I listened to them. So I don't want a young player to tell me 'why did you do that?' in the dressing-room. I would punch him, as I have won 13 titles in my career.

"I'm going to play football for three or four years in Europe, then I will quit. I would play for Boca again only if my father asks me to do it, but I don't want to play in Argentina again. If you ask me, I would love to have my old life back in my neighbourhood of Fuerte Apache as I don't like my way of life today."

And therein lies the difference between Nigerians and the rest of the world.
Nigerians find what he did to me (grabbing my throat) funny - but all other nationalities find it shocking
There is something wrong with you people of Nigeria - your standards of decency are abysmally low. No wonder Obama won't set foot in that country!
there you go again angry.
what would obama coming to nigeria bring?
is it free & fair election?
is it peace?
is it economic transformation?
will it raise standard of living?
what has he done for the country he went to?
is he bigger than God? cause God is here cool
so what?
Politics / Another Deadly Cargo From Usa by EFCC1(m): 8:37am On Nov 24, 2010
By Godwin Oritse & Harriet Eramrerai
LAGOS— THE Tin-Can Island Customs Command of the Nigeria Customs Command, NCS, yesterday intercepted another set of arms and ammunition concealed in four vehicles in a 40″ container.

This is the third time in less than two months that security operatives would be intercepting and confiscating arms and ammunition in the seaports.

Speaking to newsmen on the development, Customs Area Comptroller, Mr Austen Warikoru, said the vessel, MV Safmarine Texas, that brought in the container from the United States had since gone back, adding that the importer and the clearing agents had been arrested.

He also stated that the items had actually gone through examination and were about to exit the gate when a second examination exercise was carried out following a tip off.
Also found in the container with number UESU 456777-3 includes 1,431 round of live ammunition, two hand guns, a large military bag, and two military camouflage wears.

He noted that the way the four vehicles were packed in the container, it was really difficult to carry out a proper examination externally.

His words: ”To be sure of the content of the container, we had to carry out a second and proper examination.”

He also said the seized items, the suspected importer, Mr Ume Uzoize and the clearing agent, Mr Ifeanyi Edom, have handed over to the Police for further investigation.

Meanwhile, operatives from the Nigerian Navy Intelligence have also intercepted eight illegally imported military trucks just as two person have also been arrested in connection with the import.

In a statement the Federal Officer Commanding Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogbor said that some of the seized items include a Chevrolet double cabin vehicle covered with a camouflage tarpauline spread neatly into a container.

“Inside the vehicle were some pistols, hundreds of live ammunition, bullet-proof jackets and military boots and sundry prohibited items.

“In addition, heavy duty military trucks used for the movement of troops and logistics were also impounded by the Command”.

He stated that the onslaught against these criminals will continue until they desist from the unlawful activities.

IRAN, NIGERIA: Heroin and hand grenades sour Abuja-Tehran relations
Iran may have sought to cast the recent Nigerian arms smuggling scandal as a "misunderstanding," but it will be difficult to make the same case for at least 286 pounds of high-grade heroin found hidden inside a shipment of Iranian auto parts at a Lagos port.

“The goods originated from Iran and the last destination port of the vessel is Nigeria, so the question of the container being [in] transit is ruled out" the port's area comptroller of customs, Austin Warikoru, told the Nigerian newspaper Vanguard, which appears to have broke the story on Friday.

This latest bust comes just a week after Nigeria reported Iran to the United Nations for allegedly smuggling high-caliber weapons into Nigeria despite U.N. sanctions banning Iranian arms exports.

In October, 13 shipping containers originating in Iran and labeled as construction materials were found to contain rocket launchers, grenades, guns and ammunition. The same French shipping company, CMA-CGM, has been connected to both the shipments of weapons and smack.
Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the destination of the weapons, but Nigerian officials have voiced suspicion that they may have been intended for rebel groups fighting against the government. In addition to the Niger Delta separatist movement, which has launched attacks on government forces and foreign oil companies, Nigeria is also home to a substantial Shiite minority that has been accused of recieving monetary support from Iran in the past.

Iran, which does not recognize the sanctions, claims the arms were a legitimate and legal transaction between Iran and a third west African country, which some media reports have identified as Gambia.

Nigerian officials denied that the current diplomatic row will seriously impact Nigerian-Iranian relations, but they have not indulged Iranian attempts to gloss over the incident as a misunderstanding.

“Iran is one of Nigeria’s friendly nations and the Nigerian government is not presently thinking of cutting off diplomatic relations with Iran but the Iranian government has to reassure us that such a thing will not happen in the future,” an highly placed source in the president's office told Vanguard following a security meeting Thursday.

But Iranian analyst Amir Musawi told the pan-Arab satellite channel Al Jazeera that official statements from Abuja, the Nigerian capital, reflect an internal struggle in the Nigerian government.

"We know that in the Nigerian government there are two lines, a pro-Iran line and an anti-Iran line," he said, according to a transcript. "The anti-Iran trend perhaps tried to create trouble for the Nigerian government and to push it into a crisis with Iran. I believe the Iranian diplomacy is working to solve this problem with the Nigerian government."
