OP it's just saddening, Nigeria is the only country in Africa that is selfless towards other countries, most times we sacrifice our men and we gain nothing in return,only for them to insult us when they have any little opportunity, without Nigeria and Nigerians Most West African countries will be useless because the white care less about them (They have nothing to benefit anyways). Till date we still fund any Ecowas/Ecomog operation, Our gallant troops still sacrifice their lives for others even when we have our own internal problem(s).

Way forward :

We should be hard on them and stop this big brother mentality, Ghana is owing us a huge cash and I bet they can't pay without crashing their economy, I see no reason why we should keep sending gas to them when they can't pay for the service.

Nigerians and Nigeria first, We should also learn to be a little bit selfish, till they learn to respect us, they benefit from us more than we benefit from them.

Delta state is not purely igbo, Only Delta North are igbos, Delta Central and Delta south are not in any way related to igbo, In fact the ethnic groups in those region are 100% unique.

Southern minorities were just very lucky to be more liberated than we northern minorities. It's not as if you guys fought more for it. Let me give you the points.

1) Our colonial masters, the British favoured the Hausa-fulanis the most in our country, we all know that! And the British clearly used we northern minorities as pawns to make the Hausa-fulanis stronger.
Many of us rejected, but some could not.

Do you know how much the British promoted Hausanization and islam in the old northern region? The British went as far as trying to stop the missionaries from evangelizing northern minorities, so that islam will spread and we would all become muslims, so that we can all be more like Hausas, but it failed to an extent because of the stubborness of the missionaries. It still succeeded somehow though otherwise these missionaries would have even converted many of the Hausas themselves to christianity.
It is a very long story to be explained here. If you wanna know more, I can expand.

How about the emirates? They also tried to force the emirates all over the entire north, some tribes fought against it, others accepted and later fought, while others could not reject and still remain victims till today.

Now I don't see how the British connived with Yorubas and Igbos to try to Yorubanize or Igbonize you southern minorities. If there are please show me.

2) The Hausas & Igbos controlled the first republic while the yorubas were in opposition. This caused the Hausas & Igbos to fully support the demand of you Bendel minorities to break out from the old western region, while they themselves fully held on to their own minorities.

3) The Biafra war brought about the full liberation of Eastern minorities. Something which they would never had achieved if not for that war.

Northern minorities have shown times without number how they wish to be distinct from the north, right from the Willinks commission of 1956 to the Tiv riots of 1967. Even during the colonial period till the first and 2nd republics with the United middlebelt congress political party which dominated the politics in middlebelt areas of the northern region, to the Jos natives movement in the 1980s. How many more can I mention.

The only reason why it seems like the voice of the middlebelt is not loud enough is because of religion. The oppressors of the region have used the most powerful tool (religion) to divide the allegiance of the populace of the region. Just the same way they seem to be using that same tool to want to divide the south-west.

From your historical perspective, Okpe migrated from Bini on their own and settled in where they are today. Did it says they came with the other Urhobo brothers? They came on their own. Na only dem waka come. So why group them as part of Urhobo? Okpe is okpe. Urhobo is Urhobo.

Now I will address your other claim, First of all We are not forcing anything on Anybody, The Okpe nation is well respected among other Urhobo kingdoms, For the fact that people migrated separately doesn't mean they are not part of the larger Urhobo family, Itsekiri has different founders who migrated from Ijebu, Ilaje and Bini, but that doesn't make them more or less Itsekiri.

We are all one, and the Urhobo nation will surely protect one of their own.

The Orodje of Okpe, Gen. Mujakperuo, is by virtue of the size of his kingdom and his influence, one of the most important kings in Urhoboland. Some may even argue that he is the most important king in Urhoboland however, the Urhobos have a policy of all kings and kingdoms being equal. A scion of the Orhue ruling house, he had a meritorious military career before his ascent to the throne.

The Okpe people are very integral to the Urhobo nation. Orerokpe, their ancestral home, was the headquarters of the Western Urhobo division. Urhobo Progress Union, as we know it today, was constituted at Orerokpe during the time of late Chief Mebitaghan. Okpeland is densely populated and cannot be ignored in Urhobo nation.

Thanks for your contribution, I will modify my post, most time I go along with the Bini origin, I was told as a kid that the Okpe only passed through Bini kingdom, and they were Ife prince.

Major General Felix Mujakperuo (CFR, mni; rtd) is the Current Orodje of Okpe kingdom, the kingdom is one of the major kingdom making up the Urhobo Nation and it is also the biggest Kingdom in Urhobo Land and Delta State.

The Okpe migration from Benin is said to have taken place around the 17th Century. According to some Oral tradition Okpe migrated from Ile-ife, passed through Bini and settled in Okpe-Olomu and Okpe-Isoko at different times. His four sons – Orhue, Orhoro, Evbreke,and Esezi – then migrated to Orerokpe from where the Okpe people founded and currently occupy about 200 towns and villages in two local governments in Delta State.

Days In the Military

In July 1987, then Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Mujakperuo arrived in Charlottesville to attend the 36th Graduate Class. A soft- spoken, distinguished-looking officer, Mujakperuo had been born in 1946 and, after graduating from Urhobo College, had joined the Nigerian Defense Academy as an "Officer Cadet" in October 1968.

In March 1971, he graduated as "Best All-Round Cadet" and was commissioned in the Infantry. Mujakperuo subsequently served as a company commander (1971-1973), instructor at the Nigerian Army's Infantry School (1976-1978), and battalion commander (1978-1986). While in this last assignment, he had also been a student at the University of Lagos and the Nigerian Law School, from which he obtained law degrees in 1985 and 1986, respectively.

In 1998 Major General Felix Mujakperuo led the Military Observer Group of the Economic Community (ECOMOG) of West African States to restore peace in Sierra Leone, His troops performed exceedingly well and was recognized by UNOMSIL.
