garfield1:I'm not seeing the arguments of the appeal court. Was the judgement upturned because it was a pre-election matter ? |
CSTRR:I think it has to do with the exposure of the population. In my side, ancestral inheritance/properties and any form of inheritance are shared equally between male and female, and if there is no male child, the female bags it all, but our women are far more wise and resourceful. They will never attempt to do this nonsense I'm seeing here. Infact, if you stayed in my locality, you'd see how independent the women have become. It is how the women evolved will determine how foolish they become to their male counterparts. |
wirinet:Or maybe the Yorubas migrated too far from their natural abode/reach deep into the Delta area. The Itsekiris will always be caught up with these boundaries makeup unlike their brothers who migrated to the deeper side of Ondo/Ogun. |
Built2last:The middle east is very complex. This is too simplistic. Groups like Hezbollah existed because of IDF refusal to leave Southern Lebanon after they quelled the Palestinians treat. Infact, Israeli forces were welcomed into southern Lebanon by its people. But years after they achieved their objectives, they refused to go and their occupation led to the birth of millitias. (Some will say they overstayed their welcome) Of course, Iran saw it as an excuse to stretch its influence and the tumour is what no-one has been able to contain. The IDF defeat in 2006 even gave the islamic sect more goodswill among the people but Lebanon is still very much secular. Even with all its power, Hezbollah can't and will never take control of Lebanon because of the nature of the country. On one side you have Sunni millitias, the other side you have Shias and then you have Christians armed groups. Political powers/seat are being rotated between these groups and the country's armed forces is useless because of the sectarian Politics played. Hezbollah limits its activities in Southern Lebanon where they act as power balance. |
Zeezenho:It's even more interesting to know that several Igbo aboriginals have been assimilated into what we today call Bini, Igala etc and the Igbos too have cornered and assimilated several groups too. I personally do not believe in the Ife story. The Igbos shared more ancestors with Efik/Ibibio, Bini , Igala and just recently Eastern Yoruboid groups that settled in today's Ugbodu (Which is insignificant). There is no way Ile-Ife could be part of Igbo ancestry. They never even met to start with. |
CSTRR:Ethnic origin is very complex and I hate how people try to simplify these things. You can't even establish the fact that all Yorubas even originated from Ife. Not to talk of Igbos they are farther away. The only place Igbo ancestors merged and met with Yoruba ancestors was in Ugbodu axis in Anioma and that's just a minute number of the whole population. This is the same battle we face with those pushing the Bini and Eri origin. Trying to tie origins of a vast nation to a single place is nothing but an attempt to rewrite history. Our origin is diverse. |
Not all Yorubas even migrated from Ife. This thing of attaching humans origin to a single source has to stop. Humans don't originate from a single source. The Igbos are a vast collection of people who merged to form an ethnic nation. Same with the Yorubas, Urhobo, Edo etc. |
garfield1:Tompolo influences doesn't exceed Delta. Bayelsa is a bit complex. |
PDP still likely to clear Bayelsa. APC would have stood a chance with Lyon. |
UncleKoboko:Saudi , UAE etc don't just produce "crude oil," they refine too. Infact, Saudi Aramco made more profits from its refinery than what we made selling raw crude oil. Saudi doesn't exchange crude oil for refined products and they dominate larger part of the middle east with their products. Now, let's talk about Nigeria. Say we made crude oil sales of $100 in August. That same August we made imports of fuel and diesel with $60, leaving $40 in the coffers to sort other importations. Now, business men, Students, shoppers will have to chase that scarce $40 with their surplus naira so they could make their imports or clear international payments. If Mr. A (A businessman) is willing to pay #900/$, others too will want to meet up so they can meet their $ needs. This here is what leads to devaluation of the currency. |
InvertedHammer:I don't think we are serious about defeating poverty. We should continue overyhyping our bushes we call city while having a sense of faux-superiority. The poverty is hitting everyone 😢. No nation in this word will operate the type of economics we operate in Nigeria and excel. How can you even let the oil industry die when it's what we have strong advantages on. Money made from refining our products and cornering the African markets would have been more than the money made selling cheap raw crude. Is it that as a race we lack foresight? Because I'm yet to understand why we can't see beyond our nose. |
InvertedHammer:I'm one of those who still believe it makes zero sense to take loan from China and build railways. That's not our priority at the moment. We need to get things working. As it is, nothing works. The pressure on the naira is just too much. Fuel importation alone drains more than half of what we earn selling raw crude. We can tap into the oil industry and flood the African markets with our products. Ghana shouldn't be importing fuel from India when there's Nigeria. The naira will continue to fall until we take the pain and sort out and can be sorted out locally. For now, we can only hope Dangote stays true to his promise of getting that refinery working, that's the only way we can stabilise the naira a little bit. |
nairalanda1:I believe so too. He wanted to divert the attention to the western front but lots of blunders were made doing this. He could have easily won the support of the minorities. Installing a puppet in the then Midwest was totally unnecessary and it only gave the minorities reason to distrust your intentions, hence they fought back. I mean, this tiny region just left the grip of the West and you are already imposing a puppet. The North capitalized on these blunders and made the advancement of the eastern force in the western front a hell of a ride. Before the Ore defeat, Biafran soldiers were already starting to miss in Bini, Ughelli and Warri. |
illicit:Nobody let David Ejoor escape. He fought his way out of the assassination attempt. David Ejoor was one of the few generals with a very rare gift. He also craftly escaped death during the coup. The order from the east was precise and straight. Bring Ejoor to me dead or alive. Banjo wasn't aware when the troops went to the government house to seek the head of Ejoor. He gallantly withheld his position for hours and when he withstand the fire power, he retreated. |
Mindlog:How does paying paying exorbitant fees automatically mean that your kids will get solid educational Foundation? Aside associating with kids from well balanced homes (which is a good thing by the way), there is no reason you should be paying your child fees through your nose when you can get them in a good school with reasonable amount? I never said kids don't learn faster. I only fault that mentality that expensive fees automatically translates to solid educational foundation. No need to need for the pressure bro. Unless you earn 1m and above, paying 200-300k fees per session for kids is madness. |
Mindlog:Yes, it's A for Airpool and B for Bull, and other unnecessary accent. Before you pay 200k+ for kids school fees, then you should be earning above 1m with a personal property. We must learn not to impress people. Kids don't learn much. 50k school will give as much results as 300k school, oops, only a change in accent. |
DivineT:Agreed. The urban votes can easily cancel whatever the creeks will deliver. JOT needs to brotherly protection of the Urhobos else he is a gonna. The Urhobos can corner every political seat in that zone with their swelling populations. Well, Fairness and equity yeah yeah... |
garfield1:Not everywhere in Warri South is urban. Down the creeks, you have numerous Itsekiri towns. If the Isokos can ginger up their voters residing in Warri South (Urban) and with the help of the Urhobo population, they can get something. But sincerely speaking, it's hard to predict. |
garfield1:Urhobo make up the the majority in the urban area and Itsekiri dominates the rural. The Isokos are mostly in Urban and are not indigenous unlike the Urhobos. The Ijaw population in the LGA is also insignificant. JOT has the Urhobo population to rally around with and with the BVAS, the votes from the creeks can't do much. |
Isokotolopia:Lol. Welcome to politics 101. But no winners has been declared yet. A rerun in Warri south LGA. |
Aiel123:Don't worry, your party will hold this state for a long time. It seems there's no overlord party leadership in the state. Everyone now has their own followers and area of dominance. |
Aiel123:Atiku influences doesn't exceed NE/Adamawa. He once decamped to another party during 07-10, how did that affect the PDP? Wike rode on the Southern Nigeria sentiments, he won't have done much if the party gave another southern candidate the ticket. You forgot that he wasn't in support of Atiku in 2019 and even though he didn't throw his weight behind the candidature of Atiku, PDP still won the state. We are giving people too much relevance. Giving the ticket the a northerner after the tenure of another northerner fueled lots of things. Swelled Obi relevance and dominance, gave Wike the mouth and reasons to sabotage the party. APC was weaken, heck, Buhari was working against the party, a united front and a southern candidate would have swept everywhere bro. It's just so painful thinking about all of these. I understand you are a party man and would want to vote stick with your party but do you know the conc PDP yellow boys in Delta state failed to work with Atiku/Okowa but released all arsenals for Sheriff? Northerners aren't this loyal. One must understand the country he/she is. |
od4life:garfield1 how true is this ? Thought are tribunal cases usually end in supreme court. We indeed learn everyday. |
Aiel123:It would have been a clear win for PDP if Obi had being the flagbearer. PDP just needs to use its structure in the NW/NE to deliver atleast 20% of votes from a few states. NW/NE are totally irrelevant as far as Obi is concerned. We saw how NW/NE wasn't able to deliver Buhari until he sort for partnership and how GEJ won without NW/NE input, that was even during the era of magic votes. The entire SS/SE/SW would have fallen for Obi with an exception of Ondo & Ekiti which wouldn't have made any difference. NC with an exception of Kwara would also have fallen for Obi. I mean, if you add PDP & LP's vote in the just concluded election, you would see how it would have for a clear win for Obi in NC. Like I have said, NW/NE are irrelevant. 25% of votes in certain states is what is required of PDP to deliver, which I know they would have. The North are not the kingmakers, I once thought so, not anymore. PDP can do without them. The disregard for Southern Nigeria was why many people pitched their tents with Obi. Ordinarily, Obi wouldn't have pulled that much wave should PDP had done the right thing. Lessons has been learnt and so many people have no regrets wasting their votes with Obi. People preaching party is supreme will burn down this country should a Southerner dare contest after the tenure-ship of another Southerner. You are dealing with tribal supremacists and religious fanatics and some southerners are still not wise enough to ride under the mantra of "Party Is Supreme." Let's see how "Party is Supreme" goes when one of your own try going beyond their limits. You as a party man won't even be spared. These are the people some of us are doing "Party is Supreme" politics with. Like we forget so soon how our brother was treated just some couple of years ago. |
Aiel123:Form alliance with LP. Give South East the ticket. I told you and garfield1 that giving north the ticket when it's the turn of south in a complex country like Nigeria was the easiest way for APC to retain power. We all saw what they did to GEJ. Forget party loyalty, PDP should have given a Southerner the ticket. The north is highly overrated, atleast the recent election showed so. What sort of madness would even make the party structure think of that? This was the easiest elections for PDP to win. Why would they even think we would accept a North-north transition? If they fail to do the right thing again next election, they would still loose. |
garfield1:There is still supreme court. Even if we go the rerun way, I doubt Ejele will have the numbers to defeat Onowakpo. |
garfield1:Well, BAT is a typical politician. He is already working ahead of reelection. But how competent are these people? This government seems to follow the old order. Ibori's alignment with BAT is gradually resurrecting his influences. Have moles in the opposition is one way he intends winning the next election. So bad for opposition in Nigeria. |
ehikwe22:This superiority complex will be the end of us. What will it take people to acknowledge that others slaved and contributed to the industry they are currently dominating? Igbos dominated the movie industry and if not for the revolution of how movies were distributed, our SW folks wouldn't have penetrated. Just because you are currently on top doesn't mean you were always ontop. Acknowledging the efforts of others and give honour when it's due won't take anything away from you. |
FreeStuffsNG you need to understand the point igwebuike01 is making. There was a time the Igbos dominated and controlled the Nollywood mainstream. A huge percentage of movie distributors back then were Igbos. With the decline in CD Cassette and introduction of more sophisticated means of movie distribution, the Yorubas started gradually seizing their pie of the cake. Flooded streaming platforms with their contents and are now telling their stories. This wouldn't have been possible if we were in 2006 when movies where distributed in Idumota and Upper iweaka by Igbo investors. Should we discredit the efforts of the Igbos? No Does this means the Yorubas didn't make contributions to the growth of Nollywood? No. Infact I watched a number of Yoruba movies in Warri in the 2000's, but majority of movies distributed then were done by Igbos. We can appreciate Yorubas current dominance in the mainstream but you shouldn't take away the efforts of those who made Nollywood, Nollywood. |
garfield1 no ethnic group in Nigeria is upto 25 million. |
They see us as less humans. If given the option they don't mind terminating the lives of blacks. Argue all you want, but the Europeans/Americans are still far better. Avoid any Arab territory. Our people should migrate to less hostile environments. |
highchief1:Delta cast normally. We for they park money from this our state how wish everywhere stew. See as those when get assets for lag or pH they ball. One of my uncle for pH cash out some years back for land e sell. No major developments. No light. The place cast. Only Warri and Asaba make sense small , even at that, them no near PH or even Lag. |
