hammer6F: Delta will be divided north and south.
The North will vote PDP.
The Central APC/PDP
The South will be divided APC\PDP.
PDP wins, if rigging is not factored.
PDP have a very strong root in Delta, aside power hungry Urhobo, other groups might not be quick to dismiss PDP.
Politics is about interest.
Then again, Ibori is a very strong man that will divide Urhobo votes becos, he knows power leaves north in 4 years.
Plus, Okowa recieved him well, wen he came back from UK. I'm quite surprised you referred to the Urhobos as power hungry, that aside the influence of Ibori in Delta Central is diminishing, even when he was the governor, Ogboru won him, If not for corruption I don't think Ibori has much influence on the Urhobos, save for his oghara people. You should also consider election rigging which will be the order of the day, ever since, PDP has been rigging, but now APc has mastered the act of rigging, APC also has federal backup, should PDP win Delta, then it's with a very tiny margin. |
Politics › Re: Significance Of Yesterday's Polls And How South South And South East May Vote by Efewestern: 7:27am On Aug 16, 2018 |
hammer6F: APC cannot win Delta.
The entire North will be voting PDP, the south will be 50/50 between Ijaw and Itsekiri.
Isoko will be 50/50 also.
Urhobo will be 60(APC)/40, thanks to the PDP strong man Ibori. cc Fratermathy.
Once u have tested power, you always want it, it dont matter that it will come to you in 4 years, you want it now.
So, i no go take am personal if Urhobo goes APC but APC cannot win Delta. PDP will hardly get any meaningful vote in Delta Central, The reason Delta Central voted massively for PDP during the last election was because of GEJ , Secondly Most Top politicians irrespective of political party campaigned for GEJ, even Ogboru also campaigned for GEJ even thou he wasn't a Member of PDP, but the next election will be different, if APC plays their card well by giving Ogboru ticket, then The Urhobos will vote massively for them, don't also forget that the Urhobos are also in Delta South. Itsekiri might vote for APC, you should consider ayeri factor and the fact that Uduagha is planning to decamp to APC, IJAW population is Delta state is not much, so their vote doesn't really matter. I don't know much about Delta North, can't say much about their voting pattern. Like I said earlier, APC will get over 40% vote in Delta if they play their card well. |
Politics › Re: Significance Of Yesterday's Polls And How South South And South East May Vote by Efewestern: 8:48am On Aug 13, 2018 |
APC "might" clear delta Central , and might also get more than 45% vote in Delta state, I don't know about other states, I'm just saying this due to my current observations, was even surprise when a Bus driver was shouting APC apC, lol.. Omo-agege influence in the state is growing very large, and if they give Ogboru ticket, then APC might be able to pull a strong stunt in the state.
Let's see how it's goes, PDP so far hasn't proven to be worthy of our votes, not with the likes Of Saraki and Atiku championing their cause.
In all, these politicians are evil and wicked, those who wants to kill for them should go ahead. |

Was it not this same man who was involved in running Societe Generale bank and wrecked the customers? Is it not this same dude and his family that has held Kwara state ransom, is there any reasonable development in that state to warrant all this deification? Or has the quality of life of the average Kwara indigene improved since his family have been in charge of the affairs of that state. When will we the masses in this country have sense......when exactly? So what makes you think that if he gets to be a president, he will do any better than what he's been doing in kwara state. This dude is very ruthless, ambitious and a snake, pure and simple. We truly deserve the kind of leaders we have.....until we grow some sense. Thats how Buhari was touted as the next best thing after God,but what do we have today, economy in shambles, directionless government filled with visionless old men who don't know the meaning of leadership!! I feel ashamed sharing the same country with these dummies, I weep reading some comments here, like yes, we deserve the type of leaders we have. Celebrating thieves just to spite your opponent? , when are we going to know that these useless politicians do not care about you and me, We have millions of people suffering just because of the actions and inactions of these thieves, we have millions dying just because of the actions and inactions of these same useless politicians, yet it's still the same average Nigerians that have been oppressed by these evil people, are the ones worshipping and celebrating them. Now I can see u don't understand warfare I will advice u If u can go to London Visit the imperial war museum along old Kent road U need to go through war archives to understand resistance
If the natives or the people are not fighting or resisting an occupying force It doesn't matter if the governor fought to his last breath It means the area didn't fire a shot It means the occupying force was welcomed
Go and read about the French resistance
People go dey talk while dey understand nothing or little about resistance or support to an occupying force The mid-western region was a small region and they didn't have the military strength to successfully repel the invading troops, all they could do was to hide inside while the few soldiers who were left at the region were battling the keep the region safe, I don't get you, should the people come out openly to resist armed men? |

tiredoflife: Now what was the lie u wanted to point out Didn't Midwest fall Did ojukwu and major banjo not banter for three days on who should replace him And was propaganda not the order of the day Didn't banjo want a native to replace Ejoor Dragging name of my tribe doesn't stop me from coming from the tribe The federal govt already was telling the natives That igbos were coming to dominate dem Is that a lie Winston Churchill said war is 10% bullet and 90% propaganda
Did ojukwu use propaganda to his favour Normally I wouldn't have quoted you as I don't involve in endless tribal e-war, my attention was drawn to your statement about the civil war in the then mid-western region, You stated that The mid-western troops didn't fire a shot at the invading biafran army, which was a lie, in fact the mid-western troops fought till they were left with nothing before retreating. So u think if a native was put in place as governor u think mid west will fall Oga each has their source for different version of the war Ejoor is still alive till date My father was in the navy and fought the war He was part of those that did the naval blockage We are saying same thing but reporting from different angles I don't know what you mean by native, because to my own understanding David Ejoor who was the governor was a native of the then Mid-western region. Did most tribes not change their igboness Till date are the seaports working Focus on the topic which is the seaports and the monopoly of the south west We are not here to pull out the name of my tribe nor snippets of all the told and untold stories of the war Ambode cried out is the topic I thought they usually blame our governors for the seaports being unused And how their leaders have the magic wand to make all containers come through Lagos Focus on the topic and not how I spell my tribe Good, talk about what you know and leave topics you know nothing about, focus on seaports and leave Mid-western region or the civil war out of it. You can make a nice point without going to that direction. |

tiredoflife: Oga don't go there I am urohobo Urhobo The mid west didn't fire a shot as Biafran soldiers took Benin Don't let me school u
Focos on the topic Is funny how you dish out wrong information about the civil war and how it affected the then mid-western region, what's even surprising is the fact that Amberon11 couldn't counter your post with fact, Indeed history needs to be brought back to our school system . The Mid-western region fought the biafran troops for some hours , when they were overpowered the then Governor of the region who happens to be an Urhobo man took cover from the locals, bfore then Ojukwu asked his troops to bring the head of David Ejoor (The governor of mid-western region) just because he refused dancing to his tunes. The next day after the attack, David Ejoor ran to Lagos to seek for assistance from the federal troops, below is an excerpt from an interview with David Ejoor ... As I told you I do not know. It was just that morning that I heard firing in the State House where I was told that the Biafran Army was in the Mid-West. I could not believe that Banjo would be the person to kill me because he was the closest person to me in the army. What happened was that when they got to Ikpoba Hills in Benin, the person that was sent by Ojukwu to kill me was ordered to take me dead or alive to Enugu was different because Banjo did not know about this. So when they got to Ikpoba Hill, this officer from the Mid West, from Anioma told Banjo he should give him time to let him go and find out where I was in Benin and take me to Enugu dead or alive. The firing started about 7’o clock. I just managed to get the radio to tell Gowon that I was being attacked by the Biafran army. I just took the weapon of the operator and ran down to the gate to join the soldiers who were firing and we started firing together. But after sometime we ran out of ammunition. What do we do? I just said if they come in now, they are coming for me, to kill me. These soldiers who were defending me, why should I allow them to die? And then if I leave this place, they would be killed with my wife and children. Why should I allow any of these people to be killed? I said they had to kill me first so that other people would survive. I jumped down from where I was and walked towards where they were firing. I thought that was the end, I didn’t know what was happening and then I found a verandah in one of the houses not far from the State House. I decided to move my leg but I couldn’t move any part of my body. I looked up and saw somebody holding my leg and my hand. He was kneeling down when I was thinking about other things, I did not know that somebody was holding me. I asked him, ‘who are you?’ He said he was Chief Asemota. I thanked him and said I had to go now. He said, “no, you can’t go, they are everywhere.” When he got up and started dragging me in, I asked him, ‘have you not seen any of the Biafran soldiers here?’ He answered, ‘they were two in this verandah. It wasn’t long when they left that you came. If you had met them, they would have killed you.’ I told him, ‘my time has come. Those who sent me here want me dead. My time has come, let me go so that you or any of your family members will not die.’ He said no. I argued and argued but he did not agree. So I got up annoyed, to walk out. But before I could get to the door, he ran past me, locked the door and threw the key out through the window. What do I do now? I could not break the door like that. Then I persuaded him that he should go and look for an Urhobo person around the area who could take me away from Benin. I waited for him and he found somebody from Urhobo who said he was coming in the afternoon. Up till the night, we did not see him. So I said he was not interested. The following morning, around 7’o clock, I heard a woman shouting ,“there is war; you are going there. If they kill you now, and who will bury me?’ That was what he was saying in Urobho. I peeped through the window and I saw the woman running after the son, and returning into the compound. I recognized him as one of the people I grew up with...

I also came across dialects like..ozoro,oleh,owho,emede,enwhe,ofagbe,elio, oyede,aviara,uzere,umee,iyede-ami,olomoro,igbide,itiegbede........
I discovered that the enwhe dialect is quite similar. to the urhobo language.. my informant also confirmed that.
my question then is is urhobo language a dialect of isoko or isoko is a dialect of urhobo or both are separate languages.if they are separate llanguages how is it then possible for a dialect of isoko. to be very similar to urhobo language.
my guess is that the both come from one language (Edo)...but along the lines they differ..it is an hypothesis not a fact..I need a superior answer.
I also note that isoko language is on a decline in Delta except you go to the villages..in asaba and warri..na broken sure pass ooo...but you will still see urhobo in bits and Igbo.
The language is hard o..I can't lie...I am not yet through with data collections and finding and will be happy with any help rendered
I will like comments and suggestions
isoko wadoooo You tried, but you should also learn spelling in Isoko as I can see some errors with the spellings, as for your last question, Isoko was formally part of the Urhobo nation until 1961 when Awolowo gave them a separate identity, The language remains a Key branch of Edoid languages and is also classified as an Urhobo language, the language shares close similarities with the Okpe and Uvwie dialect of Urhobo, I myself understands 90% of what you just submitted. For example, Ki"die hwiere - What's wrong / What's happening (General Urhobo) Eme' wo / Eme' Soni - What's Wrong (Uvwie Dialect of urhobo) Eme' wo - What's wrong (Isoko) So the language is a combination of sub Urhobo dialects. Bini can't have a nation on their own without the Urhobo's, Isoko's, itsekiri's etc, during the Mid-western region we all lived peacefully, thou I have some reservations about the Bini's, but I doubt if they can subdue any ethnic group in this present time.
Secondly, Should Nigeria disintegrate (Which is not happening anytime soon) , then you should be looking at a bigger picture which is the desire of the minorities to have their own Nation.
... And yes the Bini's can survive on their own, they are very educated and also blessed with huge HUMAN and Natural resources, They, just like every other tribe in Nigeria needs a visionary leader, unfortunately we are all cursed with clueless thieves. |
