omotititi. Nice one. Big congrats. Greater things on their way. |
aralgreen. Please, clarify what you mean by "TEMPORARY"? segun1976. It is expected that the birds do not finish their increased feeds initially. They would get to do that within days IF they have well-developed crops. The photo stimulation/midnight lighting will also help in that regard as the birds can eat at night. In the meantime, encourage your staff to "refresh" the feeds as a way of stimulating the birds to eat more. Success. |
segun1976. The obvious thing wrong with your management practices is the quantity of feed being fed the birds. Birds require significant increase in their daily consumption the moment the first egg is laid. At this stage, each bird should be eating about 110g/day. Are you still on Growers mash? If yes, given the age of the birds, I'll say you switch to layers. My pullets are also 24 weeks 2 days & we are doing over 50%. Significantly increase their daily feeds intake, photostimulate & give vitamins. Success. |
AkayTopsy. Hmmm. Now I understand. As to the remedy, I wouldn't know. However, I've read of some farmers giving iodine (poldine) to birds suffering from overdose of vaccine & antibiotics to flush off the excess from their system. I wouldn't know if same will work in this case due to differences in mode of administration/transmission. You may wish to see what others on this forum will say. |
AkayTopsy. That's serious. Which medication did you use for the deworming? I dewormed/deloused my birds about 2 weeks ago & repeated same over the weekend. Production has been on the increase. Are you sure nothing else is amiss? |
judithume. Your birds look OK for their age. Just be patient. FarmTech. Will you like to say something on endy247 question on Marek's? |
barrackodick. I wouldn't know what your experience has been. However, I make bold to say that poultry is a knowledge-based industry. You may pray and "faith" all you want, if you don't do the right thing, you'll end up failing. Poultry is scientific, not spiritual. Get & apply the right knowledge & success is assured. |
endy247. Don't waste your money on any egg formula. Deal with the lice infestation first. Repeat the Concimentrin after 2 weeks of initially administering it. Are the birds on litter? If yes, add ash in significant quantity to the litter. Give them vitamin & light at night to ensure they eat more. Success. |
700 matured birds and weighing 1.5kg each not finishing 3 bags of 25kg feeds in a day? Something is wrong. At this age, they should be doing 3.5 bags while still "asking" for more. I assume they are sick. And given the drop in number of eggs laid daily; it could be ND, though it could also be due to the lice. Was there ever a time they finished the 3 bags? I'll advise you repeat the treatment for lice after 2 weeks, as well as do something about possible ND infection. |
endy247. Something is sure wrong with your flock given the result you are getting. As noted by FarmTech, first question to ask is about the quality & quantity of the feeding. 2. You observed they have lice, be advised to do the needful immediately to deal with the lice. 3. Did you raise the birds yourself? If yes, what can you say about uniformity in their growth? I seriously suspect poor uniformity for the result you are getting. You may wish to reveal more about the birds for better input from the house. utchlady. You are doing fine. However, I'll like to know what is the quantity of feeds fed the birds daily. judithume. How far? Update, pls |
judithume. The problem has been identified; your birds are underweight. They should each weigh 1.45kg at this time. The weight differential is the reason they haven't started the singsong peculiar to laying birds. I'll advise you increase their daily consumption to between 110 - 120g/bird. You may start photostimulation after another week has passed. Success |
judithume. The 25kg seem to be about ok for the number of birds given their ages. However, to be doubly sure, can you tell us how much the individual birds weigh? Is there sufficient ventilation as well as light penetration in the pen? What about presence/absence of lice and diseases? Be explicit, pls |
judithume. We await the pix/video. Meanwhile, you are yet to comment in the quantity fed them daily |
The Barcelona forward is now due to stand trial on accusations he defrauded authorities Lionel Messi's appeal against allegations of tax evasion has been thrown out by a Barcelona court and the Argentina star will now stand trial. The Blaugrana forward and his father and agent, Jorge Messi, are accused of defrauding authorities over a tax amount totalling €4.1 million between 2006 and 2009. It is alleged that Messi's image rights were sold by Jorge - who assumed full responsibility when the case began - using companies in countries like Belize and Uruguay to avoid Spanish tax obligations. A judge at a court in Gava, near Barcelona, determined in October 2014 that the 27-year-old would have to face trial over the allegations, despite his pleas that he was neither guilty nor fully aware of the suggested impropriety http://www.goal.com/en-india/news/138/spain/2015/06/10/12585042/breaking-news-messi-tax-evasion-appeal-rejected?ICID=HP_BN_1 |
judithume. It is abnormal that they have not started giving you the singsong sound. The issue really should be with the QUALITY and/or QUANTITY of the feed you are giving them. Therefore, you are advised to check these. fnk. Your post is quite instructive. However, may I dare say that it is not conclusive yet that humans can develop resistance to some antibiotics by consuming birds raised with same. In addition, some big hatcheries/farms in the U.S. are still administering antibiotics to their birds. However, it is a well established fact that the use of probiotics & enzymes is the future of poultry. |
israelotics. Why don't you visit ZARM Hatchery at Ilemona, Offa? |
FarmTech. this web link no gree open for here o. Abeg check am |
omotititi. I just checked my note for the info required. However, I couldn't lay my hands on it. Meanwhile, I believe what I have in there is that the distance between 2 pens (especially when the birds therein are of dissimilar ages) should be a minimum of 15 metres. |
jamp. OK. Thanks a lot. Keep me updated, pls. endy247. You may try Avertin, among others. |
jamp. Bro. How far? Have you met with my friend? If yes, how did it go? |
175. Thanks |
jamp. Thanks so much. Much appreciated. My birds dropped at exactly 20 weeks, though I started photostimulation at 18 weeks. Given their weights at 17 weeks, I believe some will lay within the next week. Success. |
jamp, hi. Pls, I need a huge favour from you. A friend of mine residing in Abuja is planning to start a poultry farm. Can you kindly help contact him on 07030600300 (Adenuga) & see if there is any help you can render to him, pls? Much appreciated. |
People often associate marks with success. While this is not true, most of us seek validation, at least when we’re students, through our marks. Marks don’t ultimately matter, as anyone who has graduated from college will tell you a few years later, but bad marks can often affect the psychology of a student, which is why we give them so much unnecessary importance. This creates a rather unfair system, where the people who are unable to score high marks are labeled “mediocre” or “average”. But this does not mean these students are any less talented, and there are many ways in which they can still do well in life. Find your calling: Ask yourself what you’re actually good at. Maybe there are other things you are more interested in. Poor performance usually comes from lack of interest. If your interest lies elsewhere, give it some good, honest thought and find the answer. You may be the most disciplined student in the world, but if you’re not interested in the subject and do not love what you’re doing, your lack of interest will translate into poor grades at some point. Hence, it is always good to do what you love. If you’re in a position where what you love isn’t what you’re studying, then make sure you find some time to do what you love as well. It will make you dislike your core subjects less. If you like painting, for example, take study breaks where you paint. When you resume studying, you’ll be happier. Get help: There is no shame in getting help. You can start with your own parents, who love you unconditionally, no matter what you may think sometimes. Find a logical solution by taking advice from them, your friends or even a counsellor. Communication always helps. Maybe getting extra help from coaching classes is a good idea. Motivate yourself: Once you know what you need to do, remember to keep motivating yourself. Read motivational books, find what motivates you and then keep doing it. Ask yourself what you believe: Have an honest mental conversation with yourself. Ask yourself whether you believe in yourself. If you believe more focus will help you, then do what it takes. If you honestly think, after careful consideration, that you will never be good at what you’re doing, then stop doing it. Your parents and others might hate you for it, but you will be happier soon. Take for example, Sachin Tendulkar. He bailed on his studies after failing his exams, and well, let’s just say he did pretty well regardless. Give it a proper shot: Before you call yourself “mediocre”, give it an honest shot. Just for one exam, give it all your heart. Practise, revise and refer. More often than not, this will make you realise how good you really are. Some can pass with flying colours without studying, whereas some others have the potential but just need to work harder to tap it to the full extent. Be positive: Don’t beat yourself up. Walt Disney was fired for not being creative enough, Steve Jobs was rejected by his own company and Michael Jordan didn’t even make his school basketball team. Your time will come. Don’t worry http://www.askmeoneducation.com/collections/career-option/6-ways-average-students-excel-life?utm_source=taboola&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=Average-students-excel-in-life&utm_term=goal |
jamp. We are fine thanks. I have actually been here as regularly as before; just didn't have much to say by way of comments. The fuel crisis forced me into suspending photo stimulation about 5 days ago. Production dropped by about 22% initially. As at today, there has been slight improvement in the production. The second set of birds started laying about a week ago. Production is about 4%. The uniformity in growth was poor. In all, we are making good progress. Thanks Bro. |
davidzfarm18. By L.A., grownairan means Oxytetracycline L.A. It is in a 100ml bottle. jamp et al. I'm also sceptical about any medication containing sulphur |
vsonic77. Price differs based on location. For example, farmers in Ibadan get everything - from drugs to feeds - at a cheaper & can afford to sell at a lower price to what their counterparts in Abuja, for instance, will sell. So, to start with, where are you located? And how much are farmers in the same location selling their eggs? |
I still dey wonder how a defence can concede 3 goals in 3 minutes. Dem dey sleep or curse dey dem head? |
Hmmm. A landmark development. It will sure embolden other gays the world over. |
APRM rates Jonathan administration low MAY 16, 2015 : SUNDAY ABORISADE 25 Comments The African Peer Review Mechanism said on Saturday that the 2011-2015 development plan initiated by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration had failed to improve the nation’s economy and the well-being of Nigerians. The five-year development plan specifically focused on three key areas, Strong, inclusive and non-inflationary growth; Employment generation and poverty alleviation, and Value re-orientation of the citizenry. But the APRM, in a statement in Abuja, said, “While the plan looked good on paper, it has not succeeded in producing significant improvement. Indeed, corruption has worsened over the past five years.” The APRM was inaugurated on 9 March 2003 by African leaders within the context of their initiative – the New Partnership for Africa’s Development – as an instrument for self-monitoring for good governance in all its ramifications. The body has, at its fulcrum, the deepening of democratic and development practices and covers four themes: Democracy and Good Political Governance, Economic Governance and Management, Corporate Governance and Socio-Economic Development. In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, National Steering Committee of the Second Peer Review of Nigeria, Senator Ken Nnamani and Senior Fellow, Centre for Democracy and Development, Dr. Jibrin Ibrahim, the APRM described the country as “having a paradox of extreme riches as well as mass poverty.” It added that stakeholders, mainly from the third tier of government in both private and the public sectors across the country, agreed after the exercise in Abuja on Friday that inspite of its abundant rich natural resources, the country’s over-reliance on its rich oil resource base has had an adverse effect on its economy. It noted that the development had resulted in the neglect of other sectors, leading to high levels of corruption, poverty, high unemployment rates, poor infrastructure, low growth rates, and widespread insecurity and crime. The validation meeting emphasised that it was imperative that Nigeria consolidates its efforts towards diversification of the economy to reduce the impact of external shocks, and encourage private sector-led development |
The National Bureau of Statistics on Thursday said it had revised the country’s labour statistics, stating that as a result, the number of those unemployed had dropped from 16.07 million or 23.9 per cent in 2011 to 4.67 million or 6.4 per cent as at the end of the fourth quarter of 2014. The bureau had in September 2014 constituted a committee of experts and stakeholders to review the definition and methodology applied in computing unemployment statistics in the country. This was aimed at assessing the current definition of unemployment in the context, and consequently recommending a new appropriate definition for computing unemployment rate and other labour related indicators in the country so as to ensure that it was in line with internationally agreed standards as well as satisfying local conditions Historically, the NBS defined the unemployed as the proportion of the labour force that did no work at all or worked less than 40 hours a week. This, however presents a major challenge, as those who work for less than 40 hours are classified as unemployed. The International Labour Organisation uses one hour a week as the benchmark as opposed to the 40 hours used by the NBS But following the recommendation of the committee, which was chaired by Prof. Sarah Anyanwu of the University of Abuja, the NBS has now adopted 20 hours per week to be used in computing the unemployment rate. In the revised statistics, the total labour force at the end of the fourth quarter of 2014 was put at 72.93 million. Of this figure, the bureau put the number of those that are fully employed (40 hours and above) at 55.206 million or 75.68 per cent; underemployed (20 to 39 hours) at 13.05 million or 17.89 per cent; and unemployed (one to 19 hours) at 3.14 million or 4.3 per cent. Curiously, the report said that 1.52 million people, representing 2.08 per cent, were currently not engaged in any economic activity, implying that their working hour was zero. |
