OlugbengaE: When is the Uber pricing starting I think next week, but they are holding a meeting with drivers today at Westgate hotel on opebi link road, by Sheraton in Ikeja. You should attend. Here is the invite I got; Uber: Hi XXXXXXXXX, at Uber we are constantly looking for ways to improve value for our partners and your riders. After hearing your recommendations in recent roundtables sessions, we would like to invite you to hear about the NEW Uber pricing and how everyone stands to benefit from these. Please join us tomorrow, Wednesday 3rd May, at Westown Hotel, 7 Opebi Link Rd, Ikeja on every hour between 10am - 6pm. See you there! |

slamstanlee: Please o. I need to b cleared, i was doing uber on percntage, now i am getting a new car and i am considering doing rental.. My question is what weekly target i hav to reach for me to get up to 20k. And again, since d payment goes to d partner account, wont he be reluctant to balance me assuming d monies he got is more than his normal 40k? Please i need to understand how rental works. Thanks Before you start, he must agree to send a copy of the payment statement Uber sends to him every week to you so you know exactly how much is to be balanced. If he doesn't return your outstanding, just remove it from next week payment. I'm all you do, don't accept anything above 40k weekly rental. But that also depends on the NEW Uber pricing |

fantastique4: House I wanna ask a question o. I took a rider to shoprite ikeja and she asked me not to end d trip and wait for her. I did as she instructed but I waited for over 1hr before she got back, and I drove her back to her house. Please what do u feel about that 1 hour that I waited for her to get back. Uber charges 9naira per minute and that is a total of 540 naira per hour. Distance will not be considered because I was on a spot waiting for her. I was thinking it was a good deal that she asked me to keep the trip running for 1hr but I later had a rethink and realised that it was just 430naira that was added if I should go by uber's calculation i.e 9naira per minute. Please I need someone to tell me what he knows about this. If it is right to always wait for riders like that. Note, she didn't force me to wait for her. She asked me and I accepted. Thanks SORRY I HAVE NOT BEEN ONLINE WOULD HAVE ANSWERED YOU EARLIER. PLEASE PLEASE AND PLEASE, NEXT TIME DONT WAIT FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES. Uber has stopped the waiting time policy. These riders know it. If a rider tells you to wait, please, politely tell the person the maximum time you can wait is 10 minutes and that you are doing it out of courtesy. Let them understand that Uber no longer does time waiting policy. If it's a card trip, let the person understand that after ten minutes you will end the trip. But if it's a cash trip, if the person is not sure he/she will be out in ten minutes, politely let the person know you can't wait, end the trip, collect your cash and pray for another request. |

cooldood: Hello Greatman, its been a while you last contributed here. Seems you must have been quite busy. I want to find out a few things (if I may please):
1) It seems Taxify is gradually taking over this business, as their terms seem better than Uber's, what's your experience? 2) Do you still do 40k weekly? Want to place 4 Toyota Corolla Foreign used on Uber/ Taxify and I want N640k monthly. Is this doable? What's your advice generally for new entrants? 40k weekly is ideal depending on your driver and not on the manager. You will be responsible for repairs too except the cars are on HP. IF YOU HAVE THE TIME YOU CAN MANAGE YOUR DRIVER PROPERLY. YOU DONT NEED SOMEONE TO DO THAT FOE YOU. Think of it, if the drivers are delivering 40k weekly and you will still repair, where will you get the money to pay the manager and still make something for yourself? |
Car Talk › Re: How Long Should An Engine Last? by eghuan1(m): 8:43am On Apr 21, 2017 |
kulikuli45: Not necessarily. I own 2 Land cruisers. 2000 FZJ105 (Petrol) and 2007 HZJ105 (diesel). The FZJ is almost 400,000 km, HZJ at 241k now. Both engines still going strong, despite being put thru grueling off-road conditions.
The Toyota straight-6 engine is known to deliver over 500,000 km if given routine maintenance.
Same as the early diesel Mercedes G-Wagen...290GD, and Land Rover Defender tdi (which I also own). It's their nature. Ruggedness is the selling point of Toyota. Their engines have this never give up attitude built in them. From the Corolla to the Hiace busses, to the Hilux to the Land cruisers. The only cars that are tougher than these are maybe the Defender and the 504 station wagon. |

jpworld: As far as a car is on the road every day, travelling from one bad road to the other, it will surely get old faster; the best way is to make sure you maximize your profit within the first 6-12months, Even if you take 20k a week, the driver will surely try his best to maximize his own profit and still destroy the car, if people are taking off their car from Uber to sell, it’s not because Uber is not lucrative, it’s simply because drivers will always take advantage of owners, who don’t do pay as you go. If Golf3 sold for 600k use for normal kabukabu in Ajah can be delivering 18k-21k weekly, then why can’t a Toyota Corolla sold 4 times the price of golf3. Deliver 50k weekly. This your analogy doesn't fit. If the price of the car is what you use in determining returns, then there's a problem. You could have simply bought a Ferrari or a Porsche so you get a higher weekly remittance |

jpworld: I never beg you, if you dont want turn left. Im not the person that will invest millions of naira in a business, then be @ a driver's messi.
If Uber can claim drivers make above 150k weekly, then 50k weekly rent is obtainable.
Pay as you go is the key to success in Uber business. I hope you did not invest on Uber based on what you were told by Uber? Am sure you have also seen people selling their cars because they are not making what Uber told them. A car owner told me based on what Uber told him, he bought a 3.2m car and he wants to give it out on HP for 4.5m for 12 months. That's approximately 100k a week that the driver will be paying him. I wished him success and left. One thing you have to understand is that at the end, you lose. The driver will wreck your car and find a new one to drive. That is reality. |

Once met a guy who had not changed his engine oil in eight ( months. The oil had become thick it was churning into grease. The guy was lucky the engine was still alive. And to think he uses the car for Uber. Another guy told me he only changes his oil twice a year, a month later engine knocked. Be good to your car and it will serve you well. My uncle used his Volkswagen Santana for 23 years. We had to sell it after he died not because it was bad bad, we knew we won't be able to maintain it like he did. |

bluebarz: I have a fresh Toyota corrola 08 ready to run. Any responsible driver that can use it for both Uber and Taxify only and offer me 45k only should contact me asap. Note the driver must be a married man with family. bluebarz@yahoo.com 09095233388. Not wanting to sound harh, it is better you drive the car yourself and make the 250k per week as Uber claimed. How many married drivers can stay outside through out the night? There are only two sets of people who would accept this your offer. A desperate driver or a new person and the end result will be a damaged car. Watch it, the higher the target, the more your car is pushed to the extreme and before you know it, the car will be visiting the workshop regularly. I know a partner who gave out his car for 35k per want the drivermust not go above 80k per week on Uber just because he does not want his car to be overused. |

slamstanlee: Lol, so i thought! Useful videos though, but not all are applicable to lagos. For instance the video that adviced you to wait like a few minutes if you dont see you rider before you place a call, here in lagos, as soon a you accept the trip the riders call immediately to confirm they just requested.... And they expect you to pick the call immediately whether u are on motion or not.... In a normal situation, you are expected to call your rider as soon as you receive the request. Some of those riders may not be at the pick up location ot might have put a wrong pick up location. Sometimes a 10 seconds call will save you a lot of fuel. And again, you are expected to use your handsfree when making calls. |
