The way People talk about this uber and taxify thing. The truth is always not said especially when the drivers speak. I am not driving yet but I've met people who drive themselves. Hardworking drivers I've met are dropping 40k and not complaining. A car owner who drives himself said most times he makes an average of 10k a day after uber's deduction, fuel and maintenance. This is without stressing his car o. I don't see why a driver can't drop 35-40k if he is not lazy. Drivers will always look for a way to short change car owners.
Please note that I have seen drivers that work hard and smile and I've seen the ones that all they do is complain all day. I remember people on here saying the keyword is smartness. Anyway car owners who know the core of business will still make the weekly collection and drivers who know what they are doing will still drop weekly money and smile home.

Thank God you said you have not started driving. Come and say the same thing two months from the day you start driving.


One thing people fail to realize and especially to those who claim they know (I know I don't know anything), there are peak periods in this business. You can't compare earnings in December to August or April/May to January.
If you have been in this business since 2015, you will know this.

engine oil: 16.3k
break pad (4 set); 25k
filter: 2.5k

Depending on the car and oil you want to use and the mechanic workshop you are using, oil varies from 4500 upwards. Break pads are 6k for a two wheel drive and maybe 12k for 4WD. oil filter is 1500.

If you are still not sure, go to total filling station in alapere or ShopRite Oniru (if you are based in Lagos) they will help you out.

If it's a personal car, you can manage it. But if it's rental or HP, don't go above 25k per week.

Am using an Acura TL 3.2L V6 on HPfor 25k a week

I bought shock absorber, service engine, fix tie rod, repair AC 3 times before it finally pack up. All these happened between 2months and man must survive

Were the three times you worked on the AC with the same technician? If they were I would advise you take it to another person to have a look at it.

Another reason people make loss in this business is because they didn't get to hear both sides of the story on this business. They only took the money being made by drivers and put all their hopes on Uber and Taxify. Am sure if I had told you that in two months time things will not be as it were when you started you would not have believed me.

My advice, find cash, find another AC man (if you want I can direct you to mine), fix your AC, come up with a plan that will work for you if you are the one driving it yourself. If not find a trust worthy driver and give him the car on HP. Let him give you 100k per month. In that sense, he doesn't destroy your car in a few months.

But if you driving yourself, make a plan that will help you maximise profit.

You inspired me to go into uber. I've done it for about 6 weeks & no savings. Haven't grossed beyond #70k. Put in at least 10hrs a day & now requests are declining. What can you & ogunvic41 do to assist? I came into it to succeed.
My car is a 2008 corolla. My mechanic said the catalyst inside exhaust pipe that saves fuel is bad & that I need another exhaust pipe as the catalyst is inside it & can't be detached. As a result I spend #6-7k daily on 11-14 trips. Any help here will be welcomed

I met a rider that wanted us to do offline deals but required uber receipt for office reconciliation. I said it wasn't possible but she said a driver she lost contact was doing it. How can that be done?
Another rider told me how a distance he normally pays between #700-800 a particular driver made him pay #2k plus without surge. Is there any legit way of upping the fare?

On your earnings, try to register with other e-hailing services platforms to increase the number of requests you will get.

On the catalyst issue. Best is to buy a new exhaust system for your car.

On the issue on upping trip earnings, there are apps you can use. But KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE DEACTIVATED ONCE THEY CATCH YOU. So it's best to pray to God and hope for the best.
