The south west governors should stand together with one voice and one mission;the total eradication of killer Fulani herdsmen from the region. We know tinubu has signed a pact with the devil to enable his evil presidential ambition which we all know will never see light of day,but innocent lives should not be the collateral damage for his selfish ambition. Till now the satanic man has refused to make a statement or a stand, on the mass killings and subtle ethnic cleansing by his slave masters. A support for tinubu is a support for evil and all that is wrong. Whoever thinks tinubu will save this country must be suffering from acute malaria and bad hallucinations. We all know he's the longest serving governor by proxy, and some Nigerians want to trust their future with such a leprechaun of a man? See how badly he has run Lagos aground. Giving unfettered powered to miscreants and hoodlums.cultist are now lords unto themselves, unleashing terror at free will, rise in robbery cases, roads are in horrendous state. Nearly#50billion monthly IGR with nothing to show for it. 2023 is around the corner.lets not fall for their free hand-outs and guile anymore.lets not forget the murders and maiming at the lekki toll gate, the loss of innocent lives in the hands of the military and police, the miscarriage of justice, insensitive and selfishness of this callous and evil government. #letsnotforget 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Crime / 19-year-old, Friend Nabbed For Setting Ex-lover’s House, Girlfriend Ablaze Pics by eherbal(m): 7:43am On Nov 24, 2020 |
Oluwatosin Omojuyigbe Nineteen-year-old Jemila Ibrahim and her friend, Fatima Mohammed, have been arrested by the personnel of the Lagos State Police Command for setting her ex-lover’s house ablaze at the Monkey Village, FESTAC area of the state. It was gathered that Jemila and her friend stormed the residence of her ex-lover, Mohammed Yusuf, around 5.30pm on November 18 and set it ablaze, while his girlfriend, Rabi was inside. PUNCH Metro learnt that Yusuf, who got to know about the incident, rushed home to rescue Rabi and took her to hospital, where she died on Saturday around noon. Our correspondent learnt that Mohammed left Jemila over alleged infidelity on her part. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Monday, said policemen from the Satellite Division arrested the suspects, adding that the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, for further investigation. The statement read in part, “The duo of Jemila Ibrahim and her friend, Fatima Mohammed, of Monkey Village, who accompanied Jemila to commit the heinous crime, have been arrested by the police operatives attached to the Satellite Division of the command. “The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, who condemned the crime, has ordered that the matter be transferred to the SCIID, Panti, for discreet investigation. The CP also vowed to go after those, who engage in crimes and social vices, and to rid the state of criminals and criminality.” The CP, however, urged the residents of the state to avoid taking the law into their own hands. https://punchng.com/19-year-old-friend-nabbed-for-setting-ex-lovers-house-girlfriend-ablaze/

Politics / N2bn Fraud: Ndume Remanded As Maina Jumps Bail, Flees by eherbal(m): 7:20am On Nov 24, 2020 |
THE Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered the remand of Senator Ali Ndume in prison over his inability to produce a former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, who has jumped bail, stalling his ongoing N2bn money laundering trial since September. Justice Okon Abang ordered that the Borno South senator, who stood as surety for Maina would only be released from prison after meeting any of the three given conditions, including producing the fleeing defendant in court. The two other options given to the senator were paying the N500m bail bond into the Federation Account with the evidence of the payment presented before the court or forfeiting to the Federal Government his property in the highbrow Asokoro, Abuja, worth N500m, which he used as security for the bail bond. The judge gave the order following an oral application made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s prosecuting counsel, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, earlier at the November 18, 2020 proceedings and repeated on Monday. The prosecutor had at the November 18 proceedings argued that Maina’s absence from four previous court sessions without any reasonable explanation showed that he had jumped bail. He applied to the court to revoke Maina’s bail, order his arrest and direct that his trial should proceed in his absence. Also citing Section 179 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act to back his prayer, Abubakar had urged the court to order the forfeiture of Ndume’s property used as security for the bail bond to the Federal Government in line with the surety’s vow in a May 5, 2020 affidavit committing himself to the forfeiture in the event that Maina jumped bail. At the Monday’s proceedings, Ndume’s lawyer, M.O. Oru, who said he was briefed by the senator on November 19, informed the judge that he had applied for but yet to be given the certified true copies of certain seven documents which he would require to defend his client. He sought an adjournment which was opposed by the prosecuting counsel. The judge, in his ruling, agreed with the prosecution’s submission, adding that the court had upheld the principle of fair hearing provided for in Section 36(1) of the Nigerian Constitution by adjourning the case on a number of occasions to afford the senator enough time to either produce Maina or present his case in court. The judge cited paragraphs 7 to 10 of Ndume’s depositions contained in a May 5, 2020 affidavit expressing his readiness to forfeit the N500m property in the event that Maina jumped bail, as “admission against interest”. The judge said, “The defendant has jumped bail. This is the time to make good his (Ndume’s) undertaking.” Ndume, who had been compelled by the court to be present at every court session in the trial, attended Monday’s proceedings, which lasted about three and a half hours. He was led away out of the courtroom by prison officials at about 12.47pm shortly the court handed down the order for his remand and receded to his chambers. Earlier during the proceedings, the judge asked Maina’s lawyer, Francis Oronsaye, where his client was, but the lawyer said he had no knowledge of his whereabouts. https://punchng.com/n2bn-fraud-ndume-remanded-as-maina-jumps-bail-flees/

Business / Naira Plunges Further, Exchanges For 483/$ Over Speculation by eherbal(m): 7:11am On Nov 24, 2020 |
The naira exchanged to the dollar for 483 in the parallel market on Monday. This was despite the regular interventions in terms of forex injections by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Bureau de Change operators have blamed the depreciation of the naira on the activities of speculators. The President, Association of Bureaux De Change Operators of Nigeria, Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe, said speculators would lose money as CBN had enough reserves to fund the market and defend the naira. He noted that the naira had, in the last few days, depreciated in the parallel market, but had remained stable at N379 to the dollar at the official CBN rate. According to Gwadabe, with nearly $36bn foreign reserves, the CBN has what it takes to punish the enemies of the economy forcing the naira to depreciate through speculative activities. He said the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, had continued to take the right steps to achieve exchange rate stability and ensure that foreign exchange was made available to manufacturers and end-users, who needed the funds for their medical trips, school fees payment, and travel allowances, among others. According to him, the funding of BDCs had also helped to deepen the forex market and reduced the level of forex scarcity that always formed the basis for speculative activities. He said that with the CBN having the needed financial strength to fund the market, the rates would soon converge to save the naira. Gwadabe said exchange rate unification would further narrow the gap between official and parallel market, as being canvassed by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank because it ensured positive transparency, clarity of direction and drastically reduced speculative demand for the naira. He said, “I think that the CBN, by pushing the official foreign exchange rate from N306 to N379 to dollar, is in line with market demand. “It has also helped to narrow the official-parallel market rates gap that formed the basis of ridiculous speculations among unpatriotic forex dealers and spectators.” Gwadabe advised the Federal Government to enhance security surveillance at the nation borders to checkmate illegal foreign currency cash transactions. He also called for the BDC operators’ liquidity ratios to be raised to discourage dollar holdings. https://punchng.com/naira-plunges-further-exchanges-for-483-over-speculation/

Foreign Affairs / #endsars: UK Lawmakers Slam Buhari Regime, Demand Sanctions by eherbal(m): 6:38am On Nov 24, 2020 |
Members of the United Kingdom Parliament on Monday took turns to lambast the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for the attack and intimidation of protesters who took part in the #EndSARS demonstrations. They demanded sanctions on government officials and security agents such as visa ban, freezing of assets and stopping the funding and training for the Nigeria Police Force. The debate was sequel to a petition started by Silas Ojo which had garnered over 200,000 signatures. The debate by members of the Petitions Committee, which took place at the Westminster Hall, kicked off with Theresa Villiers, a member of the British Conservative Party who served as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from 2019 to 2020. The Member of Parliament for Chipping Barnet constituency said, “I believe the petitioners have a credible case for the imposition of individualised sanctions such as travel bans and asset freezes.” She said the UK Government must explain the role of the government in training security agents who end up abusing the rights of Nigerian citizens. Also speaking, the MP for Edmonton, Kate Osamor, described as undemocratic, the claim by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, that the killings at the Lekki toll plaza was fake news. Osamor stated, “The Nigerian government says that it has disbanded SARS but the corruption and brutality of the security forces continues. The Nigerian government’s violence against its own citizens appears only to be intensifying. “The Nigerian government needs to stop freezing bank accounts of key protesters; it needs to stop illegal detentions of key protesters. The Minister of Information for the Federal Government went on record to state that the CNN reporting of the massacre is fake news. This is undemocratic conduct.” Osamor stated that the UK government continued to sell weapons and provide training to SARS personnel despite the fact that Amnesty International and other rights groups had accused the now disbanded unit of extra-judicial killings. Member of Parliament for West Ham, Lyn Brown, said it was unfortunate that the Federal Government went ahead to not only accuse protesters of sponsoring terrorism and freeze their accounts but also blamed them for the increase in food prices. Responding on behalf of the UK government, the MP for Aldridge-Brownhills, Wendy Morton, who is also the Minister at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, said the reports of intimidation of #EndSARS protesters were worrying. Morton stated that the UK government was communicating with the President’s Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. “It is a long-standing practice not to speculate on future sanctions as it could reduce the impact of the designations,” Morton said. “We are aware that some protesters have reported facing intimidation and the British High Commissioner in Abuja continues to raise our concerns about intimidation of civil society groups and peaceful protesters with the Nigerian government,” the minister said. https://punchng.com/endsars-uk-lawmakers-slam-buhari-regime-demand-sanctions/

Mark my words,if this situation is not handled well ,expect more carnage and anarchy. More police stations may go up in flames and more properties may be lost. The resilience and defiance of these riders needs to be considered before government starts flexing muscles. It may not end well. 2 Likes |
