The shut down should be indefinite without any ground shifting whatsoever. It's about time we started giving relevance to the quota ratio of Nigerians employed to that of expatriates . |

Sesan Olufowobi One of the four suspected fraudsters arrested by the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command, Joseph Onuoha, says over 40 fraudsters belonging to a syndicate headed by one Toronto are out daily on Lagos streets, looking for victims. Forty-year-old Onuoha told RRS operatives that Toronto, who is now at large, personally trained the members of the syndicate and also rewarded them based on their successes. He said, “Anytime we hit jackpot, we would divide our loot into five parts. Toronto would take two parts. Two of us in a team would share two and we would share the remaining part to others. “Our office in Ajegunle has been busted by the police. Toronto, as I was told, has relocated to somewhere in Surulere. Whenever we have issues with the police, he comes around to secure our bail.” Onuoha and three others were arrested for allegedly swindling members of the public of various sums of money. The four suspects – Onuoha, Kenneth Umukoro, 36; Uba Utokcha, 41; and Ikechukwu Okeke, 25 – were picked up separately by the police in connection with three cases of fraud in Maryland, Ojodu Berger and Ajegunle between Tuesday and Thursday last week. The police said the suspect had individually owned up to the crimes before RRS officers during interrogation. It was gathered that the syndicate was smashed after two members of the gang allegedly defrauded one Chiwenu Ibeh. Ibeh told RRS men that she was going to Ojodu Berger from Ojota when Umukoro, driving an ash colour Toyota Camry 1997 model with number plate, SMK 886 DK, stopped at the bus stop to pick her. “He picked another passenger on Kudirat Abiola Way. We were still on Kudirat Abiola Way when the new passenger started a conversation in French language with the driver. “The driver pleaded that he wanted to take the new passenger to the custom’s office on Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, where his goods were seized. “At the office, the driver, a man that claimed to be a customs agent, a pastor and the goods owner brainwashed me into releasing my Automated Teller Machine card and led me to withdraw the last N9,000 from my account. “After this, the pastor prayed for me and told me to go home and get more money.” Ibeh said it was after she left the gang that she came to her senses, adding that a week later, she saw the men again in the Maryland area of the state. “My husband and I were standing at the Maryland bus stop on Thursday when I saw the same Toyota Camry with same number plate and a new driver. However, sitting beside the driver was the former driver that lured me into the fraud, pretending to be a passenger. I alerted RRS officers stationed at Maryland, who arrested them.” It was gathered that Onuoha and Okeke were arrested separately for similar fraud. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, warned members of the public to be wary of spurious deals. She said. “The police won’t relent in their duties of making the state crime free. The four suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba.”http://punchng.com/40-fraudsters-comb-lagos-daily-easy-prey/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter

I've always been an advocate for local content. From the local shoemaker to the automobile industries. Imagine the humongous savings on foreign currency, not to talk of massive employment this will help foster. We should walk the talk. The federal govt should make it compulsory for all govt institutions to purchase made in Nigeria automobile and other sundries. Even the blue nudes purchased by the Lagos state govt is from china, and it's already giving gear problems. This means the parts will have to be ordered from China. If it was innosson buses, the order will be local. Pls, let's be proud of our own. that's how China came to be the world's household name. God bless Nigeria and it's citizens |
It's glaring he's way older than that, and he got away with it. |
They knew the consequences, dared it and finally paid for it. The "get rich or die trying" syndrome is what begets the youths of today . Still they keep crawling out of the woodwork |

Afeez Hanafi A national of Burkina Faso, Laday Wendipanga, has been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly killing one Adepeju Disu. Wendipanga was said to have slit Disu’s throat with a knife while she was asleep on the premises of Holy Cross Cathedral on Lagos Island. Not done, the suspect reportedly inflicted several cuts on the body of the victim and dragged her corpse to a corner on the premises, where it was discovered by a member of the church, who raised the alarm. PUNCH Metro learnt that a vigil was ongoing in the church on Friday, November 4, when the incident happened. It was gathered that the police from the Lion Building Police Division removed the remains and arrested the suspect. A mechanic in the church’s vicinity, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victims were mentally ill, adding that Disu usually passed the night in the church. He said, “Both of them are mentally ill. They were being taken care of by the church. A vigil was going on that day when the incident happened. I learnt that she (Wendipanga) went to where the woman was sleeping on the church premises and slit her throat with a knife.” A resident of the area, who identified himself simply as Daniel, said Disu moved to the church after a building she inhabited on Lagos Island was demolished. Another resident, who did not want her name in print, told PUNCH Metro that Disu’s remains were dumped in a dustbin on the premises. She said, “I learnt she had a disagreement with the suspect earlier, but I don’t know what it was all about.” When our correspondent visited the church last Friday to get its comment on the alleged murder, a security guard in the church, who gave his name as Felix Obi, told him to come back on Monday, saying the official that would speak was not around. Our correspondent visited the church again on Monday, but Obi told him to check back on Tuesday (today). He said, “The person that will attend to you is not around. Nobody can speak with you now. You cannot talk to anybody. You can go.” However, Obi’s colleague, who declined to give his name, denied that the woman was murdered on the church premises, saying it was a rumour. He said, “I was on duty; nothing like that happened. Apart from you, somebody also came here to inquire about it. I have been on duty from the beginning of this month. I am a security man. If anything happens, I will tell you.” The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba. She said, “The information we have is that the victim, Adepeju Disu, and the suspect, Laday Wendipanga from Burkina Faso, lived around the church. They seem to be mentally ill. Investigation will reveal more on that, especially on the side of the suspect. We need to do medical evaluation. The body was seen on thes church premises. The case has been transferred to SCIID, Yaba, for discreet investigation.” http://punchng.com/foreigner-slits-womans-throat-lagos-church-premises/ |
Ade Adesomoju, An official of Zenith Bank, Akure Branch in Ondo State, Sunday Alade, on Monday told a Federal High Court in Abuja how he and his colleagues in the bank took turn to count the sum of N1.22bn cash delivered to the aides of the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, by former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro in 2014. Alade, who continued his testimony as the first prosecution witness in the ongoing trial of an aide to Fayose, Mr. Abiodun Agbele, on money laundering charges, said the huge cash was in N1000 and N500 bills. Alade said under cross-examination by the defence counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), that his team evacuated the huge cash, allegedly airlifted to Akure airport twice by Obanikoro, before they began counting. He said he “got worried” when he saw the large consignment of cash. The banker said the counting went on between 8am and 3pm for 10days. The witness said, “It took us 10 whole days to count the money after we brought it from the Akure Airport. It took us from 8am to 3pm daily to count the money. Some time, the officials counting it would take time off.” He said the total amount was N1,219,490,000. Agbele is being prosecuted along with three companies – Sylvan Mcnamara Ltd., De Privateer and Spotless – on 11 counts of money laundering involving about N4,685,723,000,000 allegedly taken by former National Security Adviser from the account of the office of the NSA domicile in the Central Bank of Nigeria. The prosecution alleged that the accused persons knew the N4,685,723,000,000 formed part of the proceeds of alleged unlawful activities by Dasuki. The prosecution also alleged. that on June 17, 2014, Agbele, Obanikoro and other suspects (said to be at large), took N1,219,000,000 from the total N4,685,723,000,000, when they “reasonably ought to have known” that the money was part of proceeds of Dasuki’s unlawful activity.” Earlier on Monday, Ozekhome withdrew his appearance for the second defendant, Sylvan Mcnamara Ltd. (a firm believed to be owned by Obanikoro). Alade had also in his evidence-in-chief, identified documents, including account opening packages for the accounts of Fayose, Spotless Investment and Deprivateer and statements of transactions in the accounts. The documents were later admitted by the court in evidence. He told the court that Agbele gave directives on how the money was disbursed and went away with the cash balance of over N230m, which he (Agbele) allegedly took to Ado Ekiti (Ekiti State Capital http://punchng.com/counted-n1-22bn-obanikoro-gave-fayose-10-days-banker/

thewife306:if you stoop you conquer. Stooping is not stupidity, it's a form of weapon that is strengthened with each persevering days. By the time it's forged, you'll have a surrender before its even used. No matter how he shouts at you, look at him with love in your eyes and tell him sorry , even though he's the aggressor, and see him reduced to a conscience ridden bloke. Approach him in his peace time and tell him as subtly as possible how he's hurting you with his public embarrassment, and how you steel your nerves not to go that path with him because 2 wrongs don't make a right. Tell him you strongly want him to remember that you're his wife, not his slave every time he goes into a fit of rage. Remind him it was not like this in the beginning. But above all, table his matter before the Almighty, the knower of everything for spiritual resolution. Most of the peeps here telling you to shout back or be rude to your husband won't be there when everything goes south. They're probably not married. Every marriage has it's trials. My dear, this is yours. Handle it to the best of your ability .save your marriage. Don't listen to spinsters here on this forum giving you rebellious advice. Best of luck. May your union be blissful and graced. Amen |

Did she inform her fiance of her movements, especially when the proximity to his friends place is so close? Why was she conveniently "pressed" at that moment?I'm not saying its not possible, but it's just too coincidental. She even left her bag on his bed! What kind of apartment does Bayo stay in that warrants her to drop her bag on the bed before entering the rest room? What was her fiance doing at Bayos place at that moment? Was he following her? Does she have promiscuous tendencies?Answers to these questions may pool a solution to the whole drama |

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu State, have arrested a clearing and forwarding agent, who ingested 74 wraps of cocaine while on his way to China. Spokesperson for the agency, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said on Friday that the suspect,47-year-old Adibe Baloba, was caught during outward screening of passengers on an Ethiopian airline flight to China. The NDLEA commander at the Enugu airport, Adeofe Adeyemi, was quoted as saying that the cocaine, which Adibe ingested weighed 1.417kgs. “A second suspect, Onyechi Esonwunne, was caught attempting to send a luggage containing cannabis to China through an unsuspecting passenger. The cannabis was carefully prepared inside packs of noodles to avoid detection. Investigating officers are working hard on the cases and the suspects will soon be charged to court,” Adeofe said. The agency said its preliminary investigation showed that Esonwunne had previously been deported twice from China – in 2008 and May 2016. “Hardship and Nigeria’s bad economy forced me into drug trafficking. The exchange rate is very high and I hardly get money to take care of my family. My sponsor promised to pay me the sum of $5,000 to take the drug to China. But I was arrested before I could board my flight,” Adibe told NDLEA agencies in his statement. Esonwunne also blamed Nigeria’s recession for his crime. “I am a trader but due to the economic downturn, I turned to cannabis smuggling to cope,” he said. The NDLEA Chairman, Muhammad Abdallah, called on members of the public to avoid collecting consignments from people. He said it was a method widely used by drug traffickers, who target innocent passengers to smuggle drugs. “People need to be aware of this trick because rendering such assistance may just send them to prison or worse, death. This is because drug trafficking is punishable by death in China,” Abdallah stated.
