A fact established a long time ago! And we are hoping for something good from them.

There are a lot of issues facing us as a people and someone is proposing institute of chartered politicians smh.

One will think former governors being executive head at the state level will come to the house with appreciable knowledge of the daily lives of Nigerians and make bills that will be positively impactful.

Nice, but Atiku, the consummate politician shouldn't just say it to massage bruised egos and as mere lip service to position himself in furtherance of his barely concealed ambition..... Mere posturing and rhetorics won't cut it..

He controls the N-PDP and has half his body in the PDP, he should use the REPS to push for it in the "right" way it should be done..... cool

That is exactly the point. Our politicians are word charlatans and at every given stage or opportunity will say anything that they perceive as trending.
If Atiku believed in true Federalism he should have been talking about it all through his political career which has been a long one.

NYSC / Re: Abuja Corper Sleeping On A Bridge In Kubwa (Photos) by ehinja: 1:13pm On May 27, 2016
WebSurfer:
I have Said it before and i will say it over again..

''NYSC is a stupid and clueless scheme''

I see no reason why i should struggle to get an education from infantry to adulthood for more than 20 years, The University alone is a hell of work from looking for admission, facing hardship and survival with Financial problems coming from a poor background, Social problems (cultism), Educational problems and stress from the school, Lecturers, ASUU with numerous strikes and all the bad learning infrastructures only to come out to another struggle of getting your result, documents.

And then, Another wasted time waiting on NYSC, Another wasted 1 extra year in NYSC doing what exactly? Is it the girls and boys who go there to engage in all sorts of immoralities in camp, hardship or the irregularities going on... What is it exactly?

The Most f_ucked up part is after serving the acclaimed fatherland, you will then realise your life just started as you might not be lucky to be rich or connected to secure a Job with security...

Go to the Streets in Nigeria and find out what graduates are going through.. Is this a country or HELL? Why are we suffering and smiling?

Well, i can blame the youths for this too, all we do is talk, write, complain, no action.. Infact, they enjoy the immoralities and the Corper priorities,

I have friends my agemates whom after NYSC are asking me for Job assistance knowing fully well we graduated at or about thesame time..
So me who refused to serve in instead went on to use my time more productively should be carrying your cross abi? No way..

The mouth you used to gist me all the immoralities you did and enjoyed in camp, use that time to think again and do what is right..

they are even so broke that the little money given to them as allowance make them feel like they have it all..

What a country of dullards
I totally concur as for very obvious reasons the program has outlive its usefulness and should be revamp or scrapped all together.
There is no sense in asking someone to serve a country for one year with no provision for survival other than the monthly stipend which can not sustain the average nysc participant for a month on feeding alone. Talk more of Housing and Transportation plus other necessities.

I was at ikere general hospital yesterday. .. the workers lamated about the unpaid salary. I even saw on of my mate in sec school. He's now a nurse. He said its being 6mnths now since they received salary.

Another man said his kids asked him yesterday if anything like cash pop out at work and he gave his normal excuse. The man story was so touching. One of the junior staff tho. Cos he was the one documenting registration card.

Anything Gov that can't pay salary is useless. Acrroding to anambra state gov..

Every state should have a law prohibiting the government and firms from owing workers salary beyond a month. It is not fair to expect workers to survive and still come to work without their salaries paid. Only in our country when the going is good you will not enjoy it and when it gets bad one is reminded of how difficult the situation is.

Zombies am I not speaking your mind. Let's blame GEJ.

Which government institution is functional? They are all in a bad state which is reflective of the nation at large and the blame is for every successive government since independence.
One will say privatize everything but then again what is governance if everything is privately own and run. We have unfortunately not been blessed with a charismatic leader yet and given how long we have ruled ourselves independently one begins to fear we never will (sighs).

God knows I don't have anything against his person or business ventures but how he gets "lucky" with every successive government is a source of mystery!!

He should have fixed that road long before now!! That road shaved off more than 90mins of travel time between Abj and the SW...

Sir, did you read the terms and conditions be subscribing ? Where you told about it? if you didn't read then its your fault, if you read it(and it wasn't mentioned) and you where not told, then its their fault, So if the latter is the situation, you can initiate a legal action, But! it could cost you more and waste your time.I advice you to bear the loss and move on sir. THANK YOU.

Terms and condition yes I read them and I did not call off the policy or surrender.

I only stopped saving with them and duly waited for the policy tenure of 6 years to elapse before asking for my money back.

Whatever the administrative charges accrued I still do not see the rationale in almost halving what I had saved.

Like you advice I have taken it in my stride and moved on. I just wanted to share my experience and hopefully deter others from making same mistake I made.

I am really sorry OP. I almost fell for their tricks 2 years ago. I knew all along that they are cheats.

The annoying aspect for me is the fact that I was getting less than I invested after retaining my money for 6 years!!!

If you are not adding a penny at least give back the initial capital.

Imagine the difference in value of 140K in 2011 compared to 2016.

Investment / How I Was Cheated By Mutual Benefits Life Assurance Ltd by ehinja: 10:23am On May 08, 2016
My story started in 2011 when I decided to partake in an Individual Savings and Protection Plan (ISPP) by Mutual Benefits Life Assurance Ltd.
[img][/img]I decided to contribute N20, 000 (twenty thousand naira only monthly) and did so for most of 2011 till December of same year bringing the total amount contributed by me to N140, 000 (One hundred and Forty Thousand naira only).
Due to personal reasons I could not continue with my monthly contributions and wanted to withdraw my money saved but was told by the agent I will be duly penalized for not continuing for at least 36 months. As a result I decided to wait till the full tenure of the policy which will be 2016.
Fast forward 5 years later 2016 in April (15th) I was at the mutual benefit office to sign for my money withdrawal and was told to expect a discharge voucher which came via email on the 25th of April 2016.
To my outmost dismay, of the N140, 000 I contributed according to the voucher sent to me I was going to be given back N85, 832.88 after 6 years of waiting to get my own money back!
I immediately called one of their numbers hoping it was an error but was told that is the money due me as the savings plan has an element of insurance to it and that also I did not save consistently for the 6 years the plan was in place hence there are charges accrued which have been duly deducted from my suppose savings!!!.
I have attached copies of what I saved and the discharge voucher I was sent for people to see as I do not think it is fair. I have learnt my lesson the hard way and will like to use this medium to advice others to stay away from Mutual Benefits Individual Savings and Protection Plan (ISPP) as it is not drawn up to provide any benefits to participants.

This is an example of missplaced priority...why build a lagos to calabar rail when even 20% of that money can be used to build a world class port in calabar and port harcourt..who want to travel from lag to calabar on a train....or of what do you hope to bring into calabar from lagos that cannot be brought in through the sea.
The yoruba oligarchy have decided to ensure that the south south never get a port so that people will not leave lagos and the innefectual buffon after 6yrs in power could not even build one port in his home region.
The only way for igbos to leave lagos is to build a port in the south south, complete the onitsha inland port and all industries in lagos will move with it and lagos shall cease to be no mans land and go back to the binis or yorubas and it will join the degeneracy of the rest of the waste..

The last time I check from Lagos to Calabar except by air one must pass through several states: Ondo, Edo, Delta, Imo, Rivers, Akwa ibom.
It is a laudable project given the potential it has to boost connectivity of goods and persons and reducing eventual cost of commodities and transportation.
If we must grow as a country accessibility is key and no government worth its talk should think otherwise.

Politics / Re: Kwara Pension Law As Reviewed By Saraki Before Leaving Office by ehinja: 10:12am On Apr 07, 2016
it is high time we all start taking interest in governance as we are all stakeholders. Nigerians have to be pay critical attention to laws and policies being passed by those in government.
It does come across as unfair for someone to hold a political and elected office for 4 years and afterwards be placed on pension for life. But then again going by the pension law of the state he has not committed any crime receiving the pension. We can only fault him if he was getting more than approved by the said pension law.
Our leaders are selfish and we must be very watchful of their actions as once these selfish policies are made laws there is nothing you and I can do other than to pray someday a Moses will tear them down.
#A people deserve the leaders they get#.

The average Nigerian from whatever tribe is not having it easy but yet we choose to blame it on Nigeria being one. Waiting for the day we acknowledge what the real problem is with our country for only then will we get it right.

Career / Unpaid Pension And Severance Package By Arik Air by ehinja: 3:40pm On Mar 16, 2016
A friend of mine while discussing told me the airline(Arik Air) he used to work with before retiring did not pay his pension fund contributions for over 24 months even after deducting same from his monthly take home over the same period.
On retiring from the same airline he is yet to get his severance package after 2 years and counting. There is so much wrong with our country my people and it is totally sad how the poor and weak is continuously exploited and nothing is being done to fix that by successive governments.
The last time I check there was a pension act setting up the pension fund administration in Nigeria. It therefore beats me how companies can not be reprimanded by the government for falling to remit pension contributions of their workers.
God save our country o.

I understand why people stomp on grapes but why would anyone stomp on palm nuts?? I know for a fact that one's feet cannot achieve the result in that picture, palm nuts are hard.

So, what is the purpose of the feet?? Does it make the already pounded palm nuts smoother??

Before stomping the palm fruits are cooked so they are not strong as you presume. The feet is to make processing faster otherwise you can also use a mortar and pestle.

Good thing he has experienced the delay himself as Minister.
However it should be noted that Nigerian Airlines are operating against a lot of odds primary which are:

1. Poor airport infrastructure (The renovated domestic airport has only 2 screening gates)
2. Continues slide of the naira ( maintenance parts getting more expensive by the day)
3. Import duty tax for aircraft spares ( Parts are sourced from overseas 10% of the price of the part is charged before it is cleared by customs)

The Honorable Minister should look deeper cause you cannot apportion the blame squarely on the airline(s) alone.
