God forbid the intent of these men were more sinister who would have been able to stop them?

Nigerians must begin to ask for better from our politicians and rulers enough is really enough!
Travel / Return Of Customs, ndlea, Quarantine And Police To Pre-checking Of Passengers by ehinja: 4:45am On Dec 07, 2017
Some 6 months or more before now the Vice President visited the Murtala Muhammed International airport and right afterwards the government officials that normally will go through peoples luggages just before check in with the intent of asking for money from passengers were asked to leave.
I personally experienced a stressed free check in experience as for once one only had to put the luggages on the screening device at the entrance of the departure hall and then straight to the airline check in counters.
To my surprise as i was travelling 2 days ago i discovered these officials are back to the old habit of manually going through passengers luggages and demanding for money.
Just when we thought we are begining to see something good to say about the passneger travelling experience out of our airports SMH.
Career / Re: Aviation Workers Protest Airport Concession - Pictures by ehinja: 2:46pm On Sep 19, 2017
Airport concessions are not suppose to be bad if done properly.
There are guidelines if adhered to that will make it a positive move.
However the problem like with all past moves by government is the lack of a sincere purpose.
Aviation workers are scared of their jobs and livelihood due experiences in the past.
When you concession personnel issues is one of the prime issues to be taken into consideration and I will not advise government goes ahead with the plan until the workers fears via a comprehensive discuss is addressed.

Politics / Re: Return Home Now, Afenifere Tells Southerners by ehinja: 2:52pm On Jun 10, 2017
When is the average Nigerian going to understand that it is not about which ethnic group or people is more superior. AREWA, AFENIFERE, IPOB etc have all missed what is glaringly obvious in my opinion.
And that is suppose to be our common welfare as a people.
Which geographical zone has good infrastructures? Which zone has good schools? Which zone is not suffering from youth unemployment and other basic amenities of life.
We form these pressure groups to tear the country apart instead of building it. Why are these groups not giving ultimatum for our roads to be fixed, schools to have desks and teaching materials, pensioners and workers to be paid as at when due, ultimatum for us to have drinkable and clean water and so on.
Chasing ibos and southerners from the north and northerners from the south does not change anything.
It is not a must Nigeria stays as it is but let it be known that we can do better as a people and a nation break up or not.

Education / Re: Tertiary Institutions Should Seek Alternative Funding- FG. by ehinja: 9:12am On Mar 02, 2017
Olusharp:
The Federal Government through
the Minister Of Education, Mallam
Adamu Adamu, represented by the
Director of Tertiary Education, Hajiya
Fatima Ahmad had urged public
Institutions to seek alternative
funding due to the recession, he
also adviced institution to increase
the level Information
Communication Technology, as the
World had move from a normal
class to a Digital class.
He said, "Resource constraint is a
challenge we are facing. However,
the reality for now is the effective
and efficient management of all
resources available –human,
material or financial. I would also
want to urge you to come up with a
framework for funding tertiary
education to augment the statutory
sources which are not adequate.
This is critical because education, as
we all know, is a critical nexus in the
development process.
“With the present drive for global
comparability and harmonisation of
tertiary education qualifications, ICT
deployment is a must feature in our
educational institutions. The current
deployment is low and most
education officials lack ICT skills.
“There is also a shortage of ICT
personnel across the nation. Issues
of broadband and power outages
are constraining factors that
government is trying to address.
However, we must look out for
alternative support because
government cannot do it alone.”
The issue of alternative funding was
also stressed by the Senate
President who was represented by
the Chairman, Senate Committee on
Education and Tertiary Education
Trust Fund, Jibrin Bala, who pledged
the support of the Senate to making
laws to further assist the education
sector.

Well it is because like our leaders a lot of Nigerians want to get rich by any possible means. It is a societal failure sown by poor governance and social upbringing which unfortunately has been exported beyond the shores of our country by our brothers and sisters.
We no dey shame again as a people anything goes as long as we make money. Nobody holy pass yes but our own is too much decades ago already.

"Food for thought for our Nigerians and Africans Leaders" May be they will think.

On January 20, immediately after Donald Trump’s inauguration, the Obama family moved to a rented apartment after spending eight years at the White House. The Obamas don't own a house till date. Also, Obama paid for groceries from toothpaste to toilet papers and dry cleaning from his own pocket. Even the family vacation was not free. Similarly, after the ceremony, Joe Biden, Obama’s deputy, carrying his own brief case, took the famous Amtrak Acela Express train to get back to his hometown Wilmington. Poor people! Aren’t they?

Incredible examples of personal integrity by two highest ranking office holders of the sole superpower; Biden held public office for 43 years following his first election to the Senate at 29. Nearly 35 years in the Senate and eight years as the Vice President yet he couldn’t afford to pay for the expensive cancer treatment of his son anymore. And who was the son? The Attorney General of his State of Delaware. He also had been an Iraq war veteran before becoming the Attorney General. But the cancer treatment ate up all his savings. Then came his father to the rescue. But even that was not enough. And just when he planned to offer his house for sale to mobilise funding for the son’s treatment, President Obama loaned him funds from his personal savings to prevent him from selling his home. Biden himself recounted this before a TV audience with tearful eyes. Unfortunately the son died but not after the father had given all his best.

Neither Obama nor Biden boast tonnes of money, multiple houses and fleet of cars, escorted by massive security after all these years at top posts. And with heads held high, they walk out of their official residences to rented homes and public transport. The less said the better about politicians in NIGERIA

The above narration in a nutshell tells you why when our so call leaders are in office they cannot better the lot of the common man via policies and infrastructures because they do not live like the rest of us or want to live like the rest office. So any money in sight has to be stolen for their own selfish pleasures.

This government like every other government before it is operating very Nigerian like.

The cost Nigerians pay for passport as it is at the moment is twice the official cost anyways.

So the question is are those in authority going to claim no knowledge of the current extortion going on?

Why not clean up the process before hiking fees.

Governance should be better than this unfortunately once again or better to say as always Nigerians are holding the short end of the stick.

The come tell us how many Nigerians dey based on that figure first before you go come tell us how best to capture the remaining which will be mostly those under the age of 18 and those without bank accounts.
Until then bros this 222Billion is always going to be too much.

The laws in Nigeria are as empty as they are full..... I love this.

Very strong words which hold true. With all our brilliant minds, resources and God given talents we still remain as a people progressively inept in the way we relate to one another and things that are our own.

In other climes the government of the day will protect an homegrown company or establishment given the multiplier effect it can have and bring to the economy.

We have to wake up and get it right as a people and country. Laws should be reviewed, investors encouraged and Nigerians helping fellow Nigerians across board to achieve as we don't have any other country to call our own except Nigeria (at least for the time being).

NYSC / Re: Rivers State Corpers' Pain: A Plea to Gov. Nyesom Wike to Fulfil Allawee Promise by ehinja: 3:39pm On Sep 14, 2016
This is the sorry norm amongst our leaders and public office holders. They lie their way to office and while in office at every given opportunity.
Never stopping to think about what they are saying and promising. The fact that they always get away with it is probably why it is a way of life for them.

chocolateme:
It is really very disheartening because it goes a long way to portray that the government of a nation can hardly take care of its own.
It means they are not capable of taking care of the younger generation since they can owe the pensioners (our old papas and mamas), civil and public servants. (Our parents in active services) and now the Corpers (future leaders and youths of our generation)
Tell me, how do we go forward? Anyway, God will always take care of his own.

This can only happen in Drug cartel countries (Venezuela) where their could be HIT operations at any point and security aids are protective of their image in case of reprisal. Why has this man decimated the state to this level? God Bless Kogi State and May God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

We keep getting them in Nigeria; Masters in public office serving their interest while the people who look up to them bears the brunt.

The issue here is who signed in the first place on behalf of the Nigerian government to give Mr.Nnaka 40% of the loot?

That person or persons are the real mischief makers and their motive must be understood before anything else.

Mr.Nnaka negotiated a contract and whatever was agreed to be paid to him should be paid to him accordingly if he actually fulfilled his own part of the contract.

The sport minister and some officials a couple of months back went to see the facilities in Rio and he did all that without knowing that his athletes are going to need tickets to get to brazil and back? Nigeria is indeed in big trouble.

Is it possible to own a driver's license without knowing how to drive??

Tin is, I've got a friend.. He doesn't even know where the throttle is but he has a driver's license. An original License.

Ordinarily you cannot hold a driver's license when you cannot drive as being able to drive is the condition for owning a license in the first place.

FRSC should do more in this regard when it comes to issuance of license to only people who can drive and understand road signs because the more unqualified drivers on the road the less safe we all are.

So the former head of the Nigeria Police force also sent his wards abroad for education

A situation where serving government officials send their kids abroad to receive education is an evidence that they do not have faith in Nigeri's education system.

Even the number one citizen who claims to be an austere man sent his kids abroad for education

The shame is that these officials are paid salaries with tax generated in Nigeria...

The hypocrisy in Nigeria stinks to high heavens undecided

Well it only points to the fact our common enemy are those who make it impossible for the majority to have access to good education and other basic amenities. I have said it before the politicians and policy makers are not fighting themselves as their common interest (looting) is being met. As long as there is money to be stolen they will never fix our nation that is a fact!

He took over virgin airways, and ruin it a year after

He was given billions for intervention, he diverted it to Sao tome and Principe, and Ghana, and nobody in this country even bat any eyelid

That is the kind of country we live in where the rich and powerful have ganged up against the poor and weak.

There has been a big rot in the system but what I am saying is that an electrical engineer will better in that capacity and not a lawyer

Yes an electrical engineer will be good to be minister of power but then again a ministerial job is not a technical one to the core. There are electrical engineers in the ministry to assist him on the technical aspect of the job.
What we need are sincerely motivated people who will get the job done for us as a nation pulling on their different background of knowledge.

Fashola has no business being a minister of power. An electrical engineer is better. Since Fashola assumed power as minister darkness has taken over

Fashola is not the problem of Nigerian power failings. The bitter truth which must be told is that just like everything else that has gone wrong with our nation due lack of management and investment in existing infrastructures, the power sector suffers from the same problem.
Successive government have bundled and fumbled with it until just like the petroleum sector it is now a monster any new government wants to run away from.
If all the monies we have read and heard about these past years have really been invested in power generation maybe it wont be as terrible as it is today.
The day we fix power in Nigeria (hopefully in my lifetime) then our nation has indeed turn the curve. We have sunshine and water and there is gas yet we cannot do it (smh) we really are a unique people.

We must as a people understand by now that these squanderers of our common wealth are not partisan and ethnic drawn when it comes to what they believe in which is looting.
We must all be objective and with one voice condemn these people and their act. If tomorrow a new government takes over and decide to probe only APC chieftains as long as they are guilty of the crimes they are accused of so be it.
Only God can serve justice in one swoop humans cannot so the call for Obasanjo, Atiku, Tinubu and who ever else is considered guilty to be tried by the government should not take away the fact that a good thing has started in the form of fighting corruption.
