The Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS) has confirmed the death of its leader, Abu Bakr al- Baghdadi, media reported Tuesday, citing an IS statement. According to the Al Sumaria News broadcaster, Al- Baghdadi is dead and his successor will be named soon. On June 16, the Russian Defence Ministry said Al- Baghdadi was likely eliminated as a result of a Russian Aerospace Forces strike on a militant command post in the southern suburb of the city of Raqqa in late May. The ministry noted that it was in the process of confirming the information through various channels. Al-Baghdadi appeared in the media for the first time in 2014 when he declared the creation of a caliphate in the Middle East. Since then, the media outlets have reported several times about the death of the IS leader, though the information has never been confirmed. NAN reports on June 23, experts said if Al- Baghdadi is confirmed dead, he is likely to be succeeded by one of his top two lieutenants. Iyad Al-Obaidi and Ayad Al-Jumaili, both were army officers under late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Experts on Islamist groups said they see no clear successor but regard Al-Obaidi and Al-Jumaili as the leading contenders, though neither would be likely to assume Baghdadi’s title of “caliph” or overall commander of Muslims. Armed groups fighting in the region and U.S. officials say they have no evidence he is dead and many regional officials are skeptical about the reports of his death. Obaidi, who is in his 50s, has been serving as war minister. Jumaili, who is in his late 40s, is head of the group’s Amniya security agency. In April Iraqi state TV said Jumaili had been killed, but that was not confirmed. Both joined the Sunni Salafist insurgency in Iraq in 2003, following the U.S.-led invasion which Saddam and empowered Iraq’s Shi’ite majority. They have been Baghdadi’s top aides since airstrikes in 2016 killed his then deputy Abu Ali al- Anbari, his Chechen war minister Abu Al-Shishani and his Syrian chief propagandist, Abu Al-Adnani. “Jumaili recognises Obaidi as his senior but there is no clear successor and, depending on conditions, it can be either of the two (who succeeds Baghdadi),” said Hisham Al-Hashimi, who advises several Middle East governments on IS affairs. Baghdadi awarded himself the title of caliph, the chief Muslim civil and religious ruler, regarded as the successor of the Prophet Mohammad, in 2014. Obaidi or Jumaili would be unlikely to become caliph because they lack religious standing and Islamic State has lost much of its territory. “They don’t belong to the Prophet Mohammed’s lineage. The group has no longer ‘a land to rule’ or ‘Ardh al-Tamkeen’. “And none is well versed in Islamic theology,” said Fadhel Ragheef, another Iraqi expert on the extremist group. “A caliph has to have an Ardh al-Tamkeen, which he rules in accordance with Islamic law. Failing that, the successor will just be recognized as the emir,” said Hashimi. Emir is Arabic for prince, and is a title that jihadists often use to describe their leaders. By contrast, Baghdadi, born as Ibrahim Awad al- Samarrai’ in 1971, comes from a family of preachers and studied Islamic law in Baghdad. The appointment of the new leader would require the approval of an eight-member shoura council, an advisory body to the caliph. MYNATION POLITICS – T he latest political news on air as A faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kaduna State on Monday passed a vote of no confidence on the administration of Governor Nasir El-Rufai. The information gathered according to report the faction, which calls itself ‘Akida (True APC),’ has been at loggerheads with the governor on politics and governance in the state. Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, Maitaimaki Maiyashi, the chairman of the Executive Committee of the group, said the state was walking into another cycle of avoidable crises. He alleged that two years down the line, the people of the state have witnessed hardship, dehumanisation and complete disregard for their democratic rights. “The party is deliberately weakened and virtually ineffective. Mercenaries are hired to attack individuals and anybody who dares any opinion meant to add value to public policy. The only opinion or input respected is those of hired consultants specifically recruited from outside the state who do not even understand our environment and lack the commitment to address our developmental priorities,’’ Mr. Maiyashi said without providing any evidence to substantiate its claims. The group alleged that the morale of civil servants in the state was at its lowest ebb adding that it was saddening that official figures put Kaduna State as the second most indebted state in the country. Mr. Maiyashi also described the Zaria Water project commissioned on May 29, 2017 as the “most classical fraud meant to win honour fraudulently.” “We also ask, what is the wisdom in harassing Kasuwan Barci Traders to build a Dubai modern shopping mall? What is the wisdom in auctioning public assets developed over several decades? What is the wisdom in destroying community identity and security such as the mindless sacking of all district heads and over 4,000 village heads? What is the wisdom in securing a huge foreign loan from World Bank when the state is already heavily burdened with external loans running into several billion?” Some of those who attended the conference were Isa Ashiru, the party’s governorship aspirant who lost to Mr. El-Rufai during the 2015 primaries; a senator, Shehu Sani; a chieftain of APC, Yaro Makama; Sule Buba; Ibrahim Iko, as well as the Chairman, Liberty Television and Radio, Tijjani Ramalan. Since the flood is in Lekki, I expect them to take up the matter especially as that is where BIG men live. |
dailypost.ng/2017/07/11/lagos-assembly-grill-commissioner-massive-flooding/ The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday summoned the Commissioner for Environment, Babatunde Adejare, to appear before it on Tuesday in respect of the massive flooding on Saturday. Lekki, Victoria Island, Ajah, Ikoyi and Lagos Island, were most affected in the torrential rainfall. The resolution followed a motion moved by Gbolahan Yishawu, the Chairman House Committee on Waterfronts Infrastructures. Yishawu said: “increase in perennial rainfall has wreaked havocs in many states, particularly in Lagos. “The downpour and thunderstorms over the weeks have left hundreds homeless with massive loss of business, incomes. “It has also caused damage to properties and loss of lives. Major roads have been flooded, especially around Ajah, Lekki, Victoria Island and Ikoyi areas of the state.’’ He lament the flagrant disregard to environmental and physical planning laws and guidelines in the state. Many residents have chosen to build illegal structures on drains and water ways, with construction and sand filling works around the Lagoon and waterfront in the state. “All these have compounded effects of the rainfall,’’ he added. The lawmaker said that the illegal construction, improper disposal of solid waste in canals/gutters and reclamation of wetlands if not urgently checked would continue to cause flooding. “We are aware of the efforts of the state government in abating flooding within the state which includes clearing of drains, expansion and rehabilitation of existing collectors and canals to allow for free flow of water. “The state government as well has carried out several sensitization of members of the public on the dangers of dumping refuse into canal and illegal construction in drainage paths”, he said. A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George, in this interview debunks a media report of his purported plan to move to the All Progressives Congress, APC. He, however, throws his weight behind the alliance forged in Lagos State between the Makarfi-led PDP and Labour Party, LP for the local government election. CHOPUP411:Read the write up. He is forcing down "the right kinda order" CC LALASTICLALA CC MYND44 |
Mr. Ogbonna Nwuke, was Commissioner of Information and Communications and later Commissioner for Commerce and Industry when Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi was governor of Rivers State. He also represented Etche/Omuma federal constituency in the House of Representatives. In this interview, Ogbonna speaks extensively on the state of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state. Excerpts: THERE is reported tension in the APC in the state. In your local government area, you emerged protem leader of the party’s caucus. What is the state of things now? I was only protem chairman to address a vacuum. Now, we have a substantive chairman for the caucus. All we wanted then was a change in leadership, now Mr. Reginald Okwuoma is the new leader. Politics is driven by interest. Sometimes in pursuit of the interest, we create the impression that something is amiss. But I have a different opinion in my party. I believe what we see is the expression coming from the people, voices are saying we want to be part of the decision, we must participate, voices are embracing the primary kernel that drives the APC which is change; we are saying we should conduct things in the right manner. Politics is driven by interest and those interest come with its own conflict. We are progressives, not conservatives. What you are seeing now is expected. We are gradually moving to a phase of political development, so people are offering themselves for leadership. There is also some followership within the system. There is this allegation that the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Amaechi is forcing down his opinion on everyone in the party and some say it is responsible for the tension in the system. Is this true? No. What the Minister of Transportation is trying to force down the line is order, that we need to rebuild and rebrand our party, that the pursuit of leadership interest could create problem for the system, divert attention from the major things we need to do. After the elections, we sat down to say we need to look at the party machine, look at how we conducted ourselves in the last few years. To place the interest of the party above every other interest. People are getting it wrong. Politics can be played. If you have ambition you mask it until the right time. To be aggressive in the pursuit of interest can be unwholesome. What is going on in my party is all about strengthening the party. I believe the changes in the party are the changes we need. Is it true that governorship ticket for 2019, is tearing your party apart? People say the journey of one thousand miles begins with one step. No member of the party has said in the open that he or she is running for governorship. When there is inactivity among politicians they create one, people are talking, moving but it does not suggest there is crisis in the party. In political parties, there should be order. I think what the minister is doing is to ensure that the ambition of a few of us does not truncate the prime purpose of the party which is to grab power. I do not imagine that there is anything wrong in the party. The changes you see in the party is part of the collective decision to reengineer the party, give room for younger ones to be active in the party. If you see the changes that have taken place, it brought in younger persons. This is the time to give youths room to be active. Governor Nyesom Wike has accused former commissioners in that government of being forced to pay money monthly to Amaechi’s wife. Did you do such? It is false. I did not do it, nobody asked me to do it. Maybe Nyesom, when he was Chief of Staff collected such money and pretended to have given it to the governor or his wife. But let me say nobody ever asked me to give money to the wife of the former governor. It is not true, it is not founded and it is not verifiable. I speak the truth the best way I can. Nobody ever requested money from me for the wife of the governor Pet projects are definable. If you make contributions to a pet project you see what it is used for. And it is voluntary. If you don’t have, nobody forces you. It is wrong for somebody to come on air as governor to tell lies to score political points. Like I said I am not aware anybody made monthly donations to the wife of the former governor. Amaechi that I know, is a stickler for transparency. He was concerned about development of the state. Rivers state was work in progress during his time. I am amazed with what Wike said. For him, maybe he is playing politics. And that is the best way he plays politics. I do know that there were people who came up with belly infrastructure. The man in government today was one of them. Amaechi came from a humble background and felt he should provide qualitative education. He declared education emergency in the state, built schools, sent students abroad. He created a new generation of qualified youths. We created Rives state sustainable development agencies to get a Rivers state beyond oil, we saw the Songhai farm, the growth in the agricultural sector under Amaechi. Government should be a continuum. In two years, tell me that iconic project that the government of Rivers state has done. When Amaechi was in government he would say who started a project and he completed them Wike wants people to believe that projects started by Amaechi were his project just because he completed them. It shows a man who does not know the line between decency and selfishness. Is there anything wrong when another government completes abandoned projects? For me that is why I said government is a continuum. No one government can finish everything it started. So I don’t see anything wrong with that. What I see is that you don’t give credit to the man who started them. Give credit to whom it is due. Wike has said he will not revisit the monorail project started by Amaechi, how do you react? Amaechi’s government was futuristic with that project. Let us look at the roads, the expansion of roads was to open the city and reduce traffic. Everywhere in the world, you must diversify your transportation sector. The monorail project was to be the beginning of an internal rail network for faster transportation system. Like you see in the United kingdom, you don’t have need to drive because of the efficient transport system. If the governor, in his wisdom, thinks the project is not necessary so be it for him. But I think I have heard many said what Amaechi started was the way to the future. All governments should have been doing is adding to it and maybe in the next fifty years we would have had a proper and thorough rail system. www.vanguardngr.com/2017/07/amaechi-forcing-order-rivers-apc-nwuke/

CROWNWEALTH019:See you, Fayose has always been loyal to Tinubu. Check all his press releases and statements. The Jagaban is more powerful than you think. |
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has declared that a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu is his leader. He, however, said he will never decamp to the party. The governor, while giving reason for his declaration said Tinubu was nonpartisan in his appointments to Yorubas. Fayose, who is the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors Forum made the disclosure while speaking at the 13th convocation lecture at the Benson Idahosa University in Benin, the Edo state. According to Fayose, “I am the man to watch in this generation. So, I am controversial because I am doing things other men like me cannot do. They are scared. They are afraid; they don’t have courage. “What I am saying to you is that controversy is necessary for democracy. We must have our voice. “I am not an APC member and I will never be. But remember the fact that our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a courageous man in his own right, our leader in Yoruba land, forget about politics, if they give Asiwaju appointment, he will give a Yoruba man. Whether he is in the APC does not matter. “And I came out strongly; I defended him. I am not defending politics. I am defending the truth. Our politics must have where we would stop it and say the truth as may be necessary.” The Governor charged Nigerians to watch out for him, saying he will dare what most men of this generation can’t do. Fayose, who also revealed the source of his power, said he draws strength from the Joshua 9v7 and also Joshua 1:6-7 in the Bible. He said, “Some people chose to be under the table; they don’t want to die. They are afraid. “But remember that the Bible says that those who want to gain their life will lose it and those that lose their life will gain it. “My strength lies in God Almighty. If you put me inside running water, the water will become still. If you put me the den of lions, the teeth, the claws will go inside; you can find that in the Bible too.” The governor, while quoting Joshua 1:6-7 and nine and 17, said: “I draw my power from those things (Bible passages). When I wake up, I lie down in my bathroom and say. “Lord, many are the afflictions of the righteous. But the Lord God will deliver him from them all.” Fayose had earlier declared that through God’s intervention he will emerge as the next President o f Nigeria. Fayose also went ahead to reveal how he protested his father’s decision to donate the only family car to late tele-evangelist Archbishop Benson Idahosa. dailypost.ng/2017/07/08/tinubu-leader-will-never-decamp-apc-fayose/ CC MYND44 CC LALASTICLALA

Seun, we demand to know where Nairaland Data centre is. Is it in Sango ota? |
Repairing a server requires just 2 minutes. Once a server gets old , they’re physically destroyed so that user data remains private.

About 150 employees work in the data center, but
the giant halls are usually empty. Only 1 technician
