Nigeria would have needed an agricultural revolution, sooner or later. |
BENIN CITY – GOVERNOR Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun, were Tuesday received awards from the Association of Deans of Agriculture of Nigeria Universities (ADAN) for their contribution to the development of agriculture in the country. This comes as the National Chairman of the APC, attributed the current recession hitting the nation as the handiwork of God, acknowledging that the situation has forced government at all levels to invest into agricultural asserting that the nation will be one of the biggest exporters of farm produce in the next two years. He disclosed this at the 61st Annual General Meeting of ADAN, which held at the University of Benin (UNIBEN). According to Chief Oyegun, “I want to emphasis that the APC is totally committed in developing agriculture as the back bone of the Nigerian economy. A lot of ideas have been thrown out, there is no country on the planet that does not subsidize agriculture. So we have been living in this fool’s paradise that government does not subsidize agriculture for its people. “United States of America which is the greatest economic power, guarantees and pays farmers to produce. Even things that they don’t need. So we have come to that because the price of a barrel of oil has today dropped from 50 dollars per barrel. Projections for the future is not very encouraging, most developing nations now concentrate on renewable energy, we have not gone beyond exporting crude. “Today agriculture has become the Cinderella and we are committed to making it an alternative source of income. I am happy that twice that I have been in this chambers, it has to do with agriculture. The chairman of the LOC made it quite clear that may be God in his kindness has forced us into a situation where we now have to think, where we now have to reason, look back. “It is no longer a matter of choice that we must divert to agriculture infact it is unforgivable that we behaved stupidly without vision for so long. Agriculture is about 70 per cent of our growth and if we can generate even a 3 per cent growth , which marches the rate of our population growth then you would have stabilized the whole vision. “ But if you can make it 4 per cent, 5 five per cent, you would have changed the living standard of the majority of Nigerians. Agriculture is a big business that we can profit from and we thank God for bringing us to this state” he stated. www.vanguardngr.com/2017/07/god-pushed-us-recession-can-go-back-agriculture-oyegun/ cc lalasticlala

Some electorate in Kogi, have approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to declare the return and swearing-in of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as the governor of Kogi as null and void The suit, number FHC/ABJ/C3/535/ /2017, was filed on June 16 before Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court 3, Abuja, according to documents made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Lokoja. Mr Michael Elokun, Mr Ibrahim Sule and Mrs Hawa Adamu , all registered voters in Kogi are the electorate suing Bello on behalf of over 1.2 million registered voters in the state. Other defendants in the suit are: the All Progressives Party (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as the Minister of Justice and the Attorney-General of the Federation. In the originating summon supported by a 19- paragraph affidavit, the petitioners are asking the court to remove the governor on grounds that he is not a registered voter in Kogi. The petitioners also urged the court to remove Bello on the grounds that he was not validly nominated in writing to contest the 2015 governorship election by any registered voter in the state. They contended that this was in accordance with Section 32 of the 2010 Electoral Act as amended. Elokun, Sule and Adamu want the court to affirm that since Bello was not a registered voter in Kogi, he could not be nominated for any elective position or be voted for by the electorate in the state. On this premise, the petitioners are asking the court to declare as null and void the declaration of Bello as the winner of the governorship election held in the state in 2015 by the INEC. No date had been fixed to hear the suit. www.vanguardngr.com/2017/07/kogi-electorate-file-fresh-suit-remove-bello-office/ CC LALASTICLALA

AKA looking nice. Bet why is no one complimenting Badoo? bet why? |
See hating oh! Yes, we agree her dad made it easier for her. But what of Dangote's daughters? What about your own father's daughter? Instead of hating, why not work hard to make life easier for your kids - if you have any. |
FP in the making. |
FFK. Do you also believe that PEJ would have been a better president than the weak and incompetent GEJ? I have lost all respect for FFK. He also condemned GEJ back in 2013. He was one of the foremost users of the phrase "weak and incompetent". He is just a cynic who loves to talk and tell you what you want to hear. But many pro biafrans are being ignorant. |

Olamide is steady on the decline path. He no longer releases chart topping songs & club bangers, even his glory album wasn't much of a success. He sure needs a hit single; he can't keep living on his past GLORY . |
I am not trying to downplay or belittle the alleged threat, but I have heard Nnamdi Kanu say the same even if not worse. Everyday war keeps brewing as a result of different agitations in parts of the country. When unrests like these happen there are bound to be audios such as these - some are released for the sake of it, others in a bid to heighten the tension. |
Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on Monday appealed to the Federal High Court in Lagos not to release a five-man gang who allegedly imported 661 pump- action rifles into the country without lawful authority. Defence counsel, Yakubu Galadima, Godwin Okaka, Olumide Oyewole and Adamu Ibrahim, had brought bail applications for their clients, promising that if they were released on bail they would not abscond but make themselves available for trial. Oyewole told the court that his client was ill and needed medical treatment, showing a medical report issued by the Isolo General Hospital. But the prosecuting counsel from the office of the AGF, K.A. Fagbemi, while opposing the bail applications filed by the accused, told the court that it would not be healthy for them to be released into the society on bail. Fagbemi, who noted that one of the five accused persons was still at large, argued further that it was not even healthy for the court to release the other four on bail as their lives might be at risk. “He’s still out there. He could be a risk to their own lives. It’s one of the grounds that the defendants should not be granted bail for their own good,” Fagbemi said. The accused – Mahmud Hassan, Oscar Okafor, Donatus Achinulo, Matthew Okoye, said be at large, and Salihu Danjuma – had been arraigned by the AGF on June 14 for allegedly importing 661 pump- action rifles into the country without lawful authority. They were arraigned on eight counts before Justice Ayokunle Faji, who ordered that they should be remanded in the prison custody after they had pleaded not guilty to the charges. After entertaining arguments from the counsel, Justice Faji adjourned till July 6, 2017 for ruling. In the charges, the AGF said the accused brought 661 pump-action rifles into the country from Turkey through the Apapa Port in Lagos, using a 40-feet container, which they falsely claimed contained steel doors. To facilitate the illegal importation, the accused allegedly forged a number of documents including a bill of lading, a Form M and a Pre-Arrival Assessment Report. According to the prosecution, in order to evade payment of customs duties, the accused allegedly forged a bill of lading issued at Istanbul on January 9, 2017, falsely claiming that it was issued at Shanghai, China. In the forged bill of lading, they allegedly filled “steel door” as the content of the container instead of rifles. They were also said to have allegedly offered a bribe of N400,000 to an official of the Nigeria Customs Service attached to the Federal Operative Unit to influence the said officer not to conduct a “hundred per cent search on the 40-feet container with number PONU 825914/3.” The prosecution also alleged that the first accused, Hassan, corruptly gave N1million to government officials at the Apapa Port in order to prevent the search of the container by customs officials. In the last count, the federal government alleged that the defendants had between 2012 and 2016 illegally imported several double-barreled shotguns, pump-action rifles and single-barreled shotguns into the country through Lagos. The eight counts pressed against them border on conspiracy, importation of prohibited firearms, forgery, uttering of forged document. The National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party and the ruling All Progressives Congress, on Monday , engaged in a war of words over the search of former Vice- President Namadi Sambo ’s residence in Kaduna by security agencies . The PDP believed the ongoing war against corruption by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration would fail . It said the way the anti- graft programme was being carried out indicated that it was not designed to be successful. The Publicity Secretary of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi -led caretaker committee, Mr . Dayo Adeyeye , who spoke with The PUNCH on the telephone on Monday, accused the Federal Government of having a predetermined motive to deal with members of the opposition parties , especially the PDP , with the programme . He said there was no way the programme would succeed when it was apparent that not every Nigerian was being dealt with in the same measure . The former minister alleged that the partiality in the implementation of the programme was also responsible for the loss of many cases instituted against individuals on charges of corruption in different courts . Adeyeye , a former Minister of State for Works , wondered why the Buhari government had also refused to either probe or charge to court members of the PDP who had defected to the ruling APC. The factional PDP spokesman added , “It is obvious that the anti- corruption war is targeted at members of the PDP alone. That’ s why it is not working. “ How many members of the APC, including those who were members of the PDP before , had been charged to court with corruption even though they were holding sensitive positions before? “ The Federal Government under President Buhari is only interested in persecuting members of the PDP . “ This government is deceiving Nigerians by claiming that it is fighting corruption. The motive behind it is evil and that ’s why the war is failing. “ How many convictions has the government recorded so far ? Buhari and his government just want to silence the opposition because they know that they are not doing enough to ameliorate the sufferings of the people . “ I want to assure you and the Nigerian people that such (trying to silence opposition ) will fail. Opposition won ’t die under this regime . ” Adeyeye urged the members of the opposition not to be disappointed and intimidated , assuring them that there would be light at the end of the tunnel . “ Nobody can kill the opposition in this country. It has never happened before and it will not happen now, not even under a non- performing regime like the one we have now ,” he added . But the APC said if the PDP tolerated corruption during its tenure, the ruling party had zero tolerance for graft . The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi , said this in an interview with The PUNCH in Abuja on Monday . He also dismissed allegations by the PDP that the anti- corruption war of the current administration was targeted at members of the opposition. Abdullahi , a former Minister of Sports , said, “ You cannot accuse someone who did not have access to public funds. It is people who had been politically exposed who certainly had a greater opportunity to get involved in corrupt practices in the last four years. “ You cannot accuse people who were not in government of corruption. Naturally, it is people who were in government that could be accused of corruption. “ When people are accused of corruption, they are not simply thrown into jail ; you will still undergo trial . If they are found not guilty, they don’t need to be afraid, because all this anti- corruption fight is still taking place within the provisions of the law. ” Abdullahi added, “ Anybody who is not guilty, need not to be afraid. No amount of rephrasing that the fight against corruption is targeted at the opposition will remove the fact that people behaved inappropriately with public finances. “ If Makarfi or any other person knows of any APC member who was in the PDP government and was undergoing trial and he was left alone because he became an APC member , they should let us know. If the party they belong to has a higher tolerance for corruption, we don’t .”

The ongoing fight between Tunde Ednut and Bobrisky almost seems like a publicity stunt as the two of them have been hilariously attacking each other on social media for a while now. In a new one this evening, the singer accused the male barbie of being involved in the suspicious hacking of his Instagram account and the latter responded, saying he was not interested in whatever Ednut had to offer. Lol. See more screenshots after the cut...

fran6co:It not about zombiesm. Falz never mentioned nice in the interview. Fans made 9ice the scapegoat and they made Falz look like "the bad guy" . Many people out of neglect failed to watch the interview, which made them believe 9ice was mentioned. Falz, out of respect, had to do this so as not to spark a feud or beef. |

Vlogger accidentally poisons herself on livestream by eating a plant she mistakenly thought was aloe vera A Chinese vlogger accidentally poisoned herself live on camera. Ms Zhang, 26, was doing a live stream for something she termed "Aloe Vera Feast" in a bid to promote the benefits of eating raw aloe vera when she bit off a part of alarge plant, unaware that she was consuming Agave Americana, a poisonous plant. The video of the live show has been circulated online by various Chinese website. At the beginning of the video, Ms Zhang is heard saying "yum" and "this is great' in her local language. As the clip progressed she complained about the taste, saying: "That's bitter... that's really bitter." Soon after, things took a turn and Zhang realised there was a problem. Her mouth went numb and her throat felt as though it were on "fire". She ended the live stream then and went to the hospital where she was told by the doctors that she had been eating Agave Americana, not aloe vera. The doctors also told her she was lucky to have arrived at the hospital quickly enough, else the consequences would have been grave. Ms Zhang is reported to be in a stable condition now. www.lindaikejisblog.com/2017/07/vlogger-accidentally-poisons-herself-on.html?m=1 CC LALASTICLALA CC MYND 44
