Adek15: exactly.. Oga ehiscotch, since kainji dam can't give us all what we need, any other alternative? Like osun river...
What of coal and gas? Do you think it's feasible? Dams are not just sited anywhere. Plus they current dams need rehabilitating and we are getting enough power supply as we should be due to faulty distribution and transmission lines. They need to increase its revenue so as to raise funds to develop coal and gas energy. |

NoToPile: Lots of ignorant folks on this thread.
Everybody knows the reason why we sell electricity to those countries. Its not an agreement that was signed yesterday or even five years ago, its been like that for quite a while.
If those countries dam the water nothing is going to flow to naija and that's why the agreement was made in the first place.
People need to read oo. Nigerians are easily the most ignorant people on earth. |
Politics › Re: Why Nigeria Sells Electricity To Niger, Benin Republic – Fashola by Ehiscotch(m): 7:20pm On Jul 11, 2017 |
jieta: oga Ehiscotch, may be you should read this suggestion. we should renegotiate or offer something meaningful in return instead of electricity. You also need to read this: Niger river has an elevation in Niger and Benin Republic, geographically ok for them to construct the dam, if we allowed that, we wont have anything and Niger wont give us anything either. I think Egypt and Ethiopia has a similar agreement on the Nile river. What do you know? Block head calling himself an elder. |

jieta: my assertion is not flawed, from my research i discovered that Nigeria sell power to three countries (Benin, Ghana, Togo.) and if you take into account the population of this three countries is close to 50 million people. can you boldly say that 50 million Nigerians have access to electricity. i still stand by my point, we should renegotiate. Is it only Kainji dam that is generating power for all these countries? Ask Google again. |

It is so easy to criticize the FG and call for the heads of these ex terrorists. It is painful but this is want happens in war or in countries witnessing terror attacks. Many of them were radicalized from childhood when they could not tell their left from their right. Even the USA would not kill surrendering terrorists as many of us expect of the army. Probably why they denied selling arms in the first place. The US dropped bombs that took the life of many in Japan and which is still causing health hazards and diseases but an eye for an eye is not always the answer it would only cause more damage.

mars123: This offer to Benin and Niger should be a short term thing bro. Replace it with funds or security or something else. But it has been on for years and our electricity issues has been on for decades bro. It shows the unseriousness of the FG. What if they create their very own dams ? That invariably puts an end to project Kanji Dam |
Politics › Re: Why Nigeria Sells Electricity To Niger, Benin Republic – Fashola by Ehiscotch(m): 6:17pm On Jul 11, 2017 |
mars123: how much MW are we generating? It isn't enough for you and I but our government is willing to share to other countries for money? This is not how countries that want to advance behave. It is laxity to agree to such demand.
No wonder Nigerians are suffering. We have a very poor thinking government. A government that doesn't care for its people. Do you think if Aso rock depended on that current its giving out, it will continue to give it out? But because its Nigerians that need it right? Fortunately, you are not minister. Trying to renegotiate something like this is crass stupidity. This is not your everyday Nigerian politics where the person that generates calls the other a parasite for benefitting from blah blah blah.... If they block the dam and prevent water from flowing who would be the BIGGER LOSER? Your country poor power generation cannot be boosted solely by Kanji Dam. |
Politics › Re: Why Nigeria Sells Electricity To Niger, Benin Republic – Fashola by Ehiscotch(m): 6:11pm On Jul 11, 2017 |
jieta: well!from your explain it look like a stupid business or it shows that we are not good manager, i cant be giving someone 24 hour electricity and can't boost of five hours of light. we should go back to renegotiate with this countries we are selling electricity to. my opinion though. There you go again with insipid assertion and flawed analogy. These are relatively small countries with small populations. The power we deem little here could go a long way in solving power issues over there. That is probably why they choose electricity instead. |

mars123: We are not generating enough for ourselves bros. Why are we giving them electricity for just allowing water flow? Can't we give them something else?
I think it is because the FG is not serious about solving our electricity issues. They probably demanded for it. It is a multilateral agreement . You need me to keep MY rivers flowing then I also need a percentage of the power generated which I'd pay for. |

I think it is because the FG is not serious about solving our electricity issues. It is a multi lateral agreement. They could have demanded for it. Since you need me to keep my river flowing to generate electricity, then I also want a part of it which I'd be paying for. |

jieta: just look at your self, does your statement make sense to you? how can you sell what you need. I should not be replying you because you obviously failed to read or understand or both. The rivers from which water is flowing into our dam is situated in some of these countries and in order to prevent blockage and to keep the river flowing into our dams we need to sort of give them an incentive or some sort of compensation so we make them pay for the electricity just as you and I also pay. |

ElSherriff: Young man, you and Fashola make zero sense at all. If we pay for the infrastructure, we could as well pay for the maintenance of the Dam. You seem to think these things need rocket science to do. Whatever the togolese and benenoise have done to help channel water out of the dam or to keep it flowing, we have the capacity to do a 100 times over, so we can enjoy out total output, Instead of selling our generated output to them. It is not as if we are over serviced. simple logic, we sell to make money whereas we are starved. If I need to tell Fashola or any government official what to do to make things work, then they do not deserve to be in government. if you choose to believe their craap then you are not ready for development. Again, I am disappointed in Fashola. I can give him a full dossier of alternatives. But then, he is the minister, I am only a citizen. How do you possibly generate electricity from stagnated water? Mr Alternative Physicist. |

ElSherriff: Eya, so you took the bait? If actually they are helping Nigeria through ensuring our dams do not overflow, how come they still have to pay for our electricity? Basic rule of life, do not give what you do not have! Since I am your father's mate, it is safe to say, your father, all his brothers are stupid. You? you just dont exist. Nigeria spends on infrastructural maintenance and rehabilitation. They still have to pay to keep the damn dam running. Don't you pay for the power you consume? All the nitty gritty and details of the multilateral agreement would have been clearly defined. Get me a map disproving Fashola's claims or forever hold your peace. Besides, you can never be my father's mate. Such distinguished men would never come on forums like these to talk about something they know nothing about and when someone puts them through in the best way possible, they result throwing cheap shades and shots at 'em. GROW WISE . You too old for this. |
