iamswizz: To all those Sec.sch students or undergraduates... Pls go and acquire a skill ooo...

Dont say you werent warned by Iamswizz oo
Well, he believes in the NDE cos thats what they say they have acheieved in providing jobs for graduates
Skills so you would start competing with shoe makers, hair dressers, they probably might get u a keke(NAPEB) and start contesting with drivers too!

He's tryna say its better to invest in skills aquisition than education
He doesn't believe in the system at all

Just like me
CareerRe: Graduates: What Has Been Your Experience Getting Jobs? by ehixking(op):
ayobase: U said it all brother.
Holding the Country to a stand still for days if possible, thereby affecting productivity just as OCCUPY agsinst fuel subsidy!

We need mass protest to voice out our displeasures with practical and personal testimonies!
Niger Delta militant
boko boys
All the names you mentioned are very different from us they are all set of violent bodies or movement and like you also agreed to the fact that we have another weapon at our disposal which is a CONTINUED mass protest with good diplomacy(well that very correct in a way)
We are graduates and some of us read
conflict resolution
Peace and conflict
Disarmament
Education
Coupled with the fact that the Nigerians government don't understand the meaning of peaceful protest once they see the crowd they become scared we want to overtake power
They start using our so called friends the POLICE and the military against us- don't forget their children are abroad. Remember those guys that died at the subsidy protest, their parents wept for nothing, and the whole thing ended just like that!
We saw the, light up Naija group, the save Nigeria groups protest where wole shoyinka, femi fallana, tunde bakare, Mallam Farouk Adamu, Mr. Solomon Asemota (SAN), Mallam Uba Sani, Mr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), Hajiya Najatu Mohammed, Prof. Pat Utomi, Pastor Sarah Omakwu, Mr. Femi Falana, Mr. Olawale Oshun, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, Mrs. Ayo Obe, Mallam Naseer Kura, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, Mr. Uche Onyeogocha, and Mr. Clement Nwankwo all protested and nothing happened.
Even when we decided to have the first meeting in Lagos people spoke better than you just did, people talked heaven and earth but just 59 people were present some even left before it all started. So this is the first step we have to confront the government in a way that shows a positive move let us create employment for some, let's catch those selling jobs, let's go to those companies exploiting us and using us for hard labour first , let's partner with international organisation with same motives to partner with them for industrialisation.
Believe we can't do this without even the government on our side...that is when if they don't wanna listen with all the effort we would end it your way!
Stage protest the first day in all state and the next day the whole crew would move to Abuja let's see what happens then!!

After my service in Abuja I tried so hard to get a job after several applications,I finally got a contract job at the Ministry of Agriculture and rural development in wuse zone 5 in abuja that shares a fence with the PDP secretariat. We were employed to register Nigerian Farmers so they would be eligible to get fertiliser at a subsidised rate. When we started they were paying us per data entry a sum of 80 naira. So we can work for how long we can and at least get something tangible for the effort
After a weeks the minister for Agric. Dr. Adewumni Adesina came and promised that those people working as contract staffs that would be absorbed as permanent staffs after the exercise.
On the day of his visit was when we noticed that the money been paid to us has been reduced from how much it was to be paid originally.
That day they served us snacks,a bottle of malt or lacacera and a bottle of water each...this continued for a while and stopped again.
Later the 80 naira been paid per data was reduced till it ended with 10 naira.
These are the kind of treatment we get in Nigeria
These are all inhumane ,unethical and barbaric
We have to put a stop to this!!
CareerGraduates: What Has Been Your Experience Getting Jobs? by ehixking(op): 5:50am On Oct 05, 2013
Our experience getting jobs!!!

A telephone conversation between a NAUG official and Tolulope am a graduate of Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi Benue state. He says I have always lived in benue state in the North central part of Nigeria. As a kid I used to rear goats and sheep in grandmothers compound and always had interest in Agriculture. My grandmother died after I finished my youth service so I had to move to Osun state to live with my father. Because I was new to the environment and my father wasn't as young as he use to be and depended on me so much for his livelihood, no land to start farming and no money to dabble into something else I decided to apply for a job at FARM SUPPORT a big farm in osun state not far from the well know private school Bowen University in iwo. After applying we were called for an interview on getting there I saw big cars, trailers of all sorts and big poultry, hatchery and all sorts...I was happy at first till I started seeing the faces of the workers, screwed up as if they just got into a fight

Most were working hard, the place was quiet and all you could hear was sounds from the poultry. Trailers were moving out with loads of eggs and activity was at top gear. The interview started in no time and I was the 3th to be attended to I noticed the two other guys after the interview had terrible smiles on their faces. I entered and the interview started, in the pannel where 2 indias (or those dudes from the middle east) who could barely speak a sentence correctly In English. I managed to strain my ears to hear what they had to offer.

All the questions I was asked was contrary to anything pertaining to my CV(its was even the nigerian in the pannel that made things worse)
Here are the following questions

1)What experience do you have in poultry keeping and how many years
2)Can you drive heavy vehicles, can you drive long distance and do you have a licence
3)Will you accept an offer of 30 thousand naira per month
4)We are going to give you free accomodation a walkable distance from the farm and are you willing to work on saturdays
5)If after accepting the job you decide to leave you must give us at least 2month notice
6)Since you don't have any experience and you might decide to run away after training would you be willing to pay for the training

Funny people! Funny ideas all because our system aint working for us

CareerNational Association Of Unemployed Graduates INPENDENCE MESSAGE by ehixking(op): 8:58am On Oct 02, 2013
AS WE CELEBRATE OUR 53RD INDEPENDENCE, I Ehis Abuya the national coordinator of National Association of Unemployed graduates (NAUG) want us all to take a moment and journey back memory lane. Let us look back at history and see how far we have come (from where) and where we shall be in the nearest future. Since our independence in 1960, today, I must say welcome from an age long trip.
Nigeria became a country in 1914 and Nigeria remains the most populous and dominant socio-economic entity in Africa, yet our human resources are either exported or treated like a piece of dirty rag.
Like a mirage it is to me if we are still slaves or free men. I believe our state of perpetual unemployment makes us worse than slaves. Slaves in those days were productive, slaves earned money, had more than enough to eat and even owned properties, the only difference is the physical body damages.
What else could be worse for us if they call us free men yet we can't walk to the National Assembly and make our voices heard? Which pain could be greater than watch a few people less than 5% feed fat on our national revenue while masses live their lives like animals? Basically, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has a criteria of rating development and human capital is the greatest of all. We have numerous graduates in Nigeria yet we allow them “run for their lives” or “run abroad” or whichever way you would like to put it. Greener pastures my foot when even Philippines, germans, Indians even ghanians and so many foreigners come here and set up big companies and farms, employ graduates only to pay them peanuts and use them like they've got no qualifications.
Graduates are not just able-bodied men you can just pick up from the street. Each time I travel through our express ways, I weep in my heart like a broken-hearted lady guilty of infidelity. I weep like a helpless child after the pains of birth or like that of a mother in labour. That is how much my heart aches.
You must be thinking about the bad roads but no way. I weep when I see thousand of thousands of hectares of virgin land yet to be cultivated. I weep when I see lands that can be use for farms and productive businesses been converted to prayer grounds where youth and healthy men and women who ought to be working,  there praying  and fasting for miraculous jobs on a cool windy Monday morning to fall from heaven.
Sleeping giants! At what time should we wake up? Isn't the honeymoon over yet? Men are scared of getting married; young ladies are going for men of their father’s age just to break the feathers of poverty. It’s so unfortunate that these issues affect us all, yet we are scared to make our voices echo resoundingly into the stone deaf ears of our leaders.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) apart from human capital development states some basic facilities that must be in place before a country can be considered as developed....very simple
1) Education
2) Health
3) Food
4) Shelter
I must confess to all Nigerians that none of these is basic in Nigeria, but luxury. Our leaders claim they are trying, well they think so because instead of engaging in economic development plans they are all involve in economic growth so it would manifest as fast as my eye would blink so that people can see and vote them in for a second term.
The rate of increase in per capital income increases yearly in Nigeria but no visible economic development. Politicians and our leaders only engage in economic growth for political reasons, so we would say it’s for national pride. Well, how about human welfare? How about jobs for graduates? Their entire economic growth project doesn't account for good quality of life, freedom or leisure.
We spend a lot building a house for the vice president.
We spend so much on international sport participation and pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia and Jerusalem, while the people of Kurfi Local Government of Katsina have no shoes on their feet nor “Tuwo” in the belly.
Well known companies donate to international footballers to do their jobs, yet they can't create industries for us to work. The solution to scraping unemployment in Nigeria is industrialisation and mechanised agricultural production. OK! We don't need white collar jobs. We the Nigerian youths are ready to work on farms and be paid according to our qualifications, we want to work with our hands as entrepreneurs we need enabling environments !!
The National Association of Unemployed Graduates hereby sees all these problems as inhumane and as problems that can easily be solved through using our brains. Our constitution has numerous aims and objectives, different visions and mission but all can be summarised as follows.
"To remove bottlenecks and create a situation of full employment for all graduates, and enhance socio-economic stability in Nigeria."
Let us wake up and arise now, or remain fallen..
Happy Independence only to those willing to join the struggle against unemployment!

RedBenson: Am so sorry if i had sounded harsh, discouraged and pessimistic in my earlier post. The fact that you launched the website with the logo of NAUG shows that that is a brand name. That alone was enough to believe you went ahead registering the association with NAUG. Well, modication of the name will be okay but it might confuse some members cos e.g. the association will open new account on facebook etc which will now give multiple accounts abt the associoation therefore confusing the followers. But i sincerely pray we do things rightly so we will get answers rightly.

God bless members and supporters of the association!

God bless Nigeria!
@redbenson....
Thanks for showing maturity and understanding
That's what we lack in our country
And thanks for speaking out your mind because just for that alone I have cleared the air for some people who might just think we don't know what we are doing
Hope you would be at the next meeting

The dispute we just had now is not our fault but I blame it on Bureaucracy in government, why will C.A.C in Lagos direct us to the register General of the federation in Abuja before we can be registered. Is Lagos not Nigeria?

When even the law of the land permits freedom of Association
Politics has eaten deep into our system and we the youth must be able to fight that...immagine no well known person have volunteered to take this case up and be our trustee
They want us to come to them like we are seeking for favour and non of their family is affected.they want us to come and beg so they would give us terms and conditions.
Leave them!!! Slowly but surely we are getting there
God bless the association!

RedBenson: @Ehix, am sure you know a tree cannot make a forest no matter how mighty it looks. Sorry to say this but you seem to be unadvisable. More than 80% of people who supported this movement glamoured for a name change so it could be broaden to cantain all facets of employment (employed, underemployed and unemployed) as they made good suggestions on what the name shld look like. Bcus you think you came up with this idea (which you were never the 1st person who thought about it. Just that your thread was taken to the front page on this forum and everyone then wished to join and be suporters) then whatever you decide stands thus you ignored all the pieces of advice given to you and went ahead registering the association with the same NAUG. This goes to show the selfish interest embedded in you even as the association is in such a tender age. This is a proof that only God knows what is in your mind in
this struggle. You might be ranting glamouring for a better Nigeria but still possess trait of selfishness in you. If not, why didnt you yield to the advice given to you by the majority? Do you think you can achieve the aims and objective of this association all alone? Definitely you know there's power in number. Mind you, i have been a strong supporter to this movement since birth but if others and i withdraw ourselves now from associating with the group simply because you have failed to adhere to our advice, do you think you can achieve this all alone? Why did you still open a website with the same name "National Association of Unemployed Graduates (NAUG)? What are your concrete reasons for refusing to change the name? Or do you think your idea is the best therefore others own do not count? Even though i might have little or no problem with NAUG, but the fact that you've refused to opt to people's advice is an indication of selfishness in you. Am sorry to say this but that is what is obvious to any well-reasonable human being. Like i said before, A TREE CAN NEVER MAKE A FOREST NO MATTER HOW MIGHTY IT LOOKS. God bless!
From the bottom of my heart I must say am really disappointed @redbenson
I thought you've been following all along and if you have, you would no that we still in a dilemma as per the Name!
Why did you think we are Association of Nigerian graduate Against unemployment on twitter?
Nobody has registered any association anywhere
And I keep saying it that until we get trustees from the 6 geopolitical zone we cant register nothing.
It was you and so many that suggested that we should keep moving with registration or not so why blaming me.
I didn't build the website on of us did and I can remember very vividly warning him that if a situation of a name change comes up he must be able to modify it and he says its possible
Am very disappointed that you would just wake up one day on the first of october 2013 and try to destroy the reputation you built all this while.
You should have tried putting a call through to me instead of all these.
NB- no name yet we have Association of Nigerian graduate Against unemployment in mind(most preferred by the attendant of the first meeting , you were obviously not there) and Nigerian Association of unemployed graduate.
You advised us to keep moving and now you drawing us back. Why..
Call me let's talk and paste something here to correct your fallacy of hasty conclusion please

Tesiday: Hello, as a member of this association from Ibadan but in UNILAG,I think we need to go Political. Yes, Political, these corrupt leaders will not take us serious if we did not target the Senate and State Houses of Rep to institute strong and protective Labour laws that will be against contract staffing, casual workers, paying for government Jobs and paying graduates ridiculous wages/salary like 20 thousand by companies. We need to work to stop the request for ridiculous working experience, many employers will ask up to 15-20 yrs working experience, the abuse of the so called expatriate companies in Nigeria and more.
Let's register NAUG as a political part, let's contest for legislative positions. My Opinion, I may be wrong. But we are here for submit views and ideas to help reduce unemployment. Thanks.
Registering a political party...
That getting it all wrong my brother
Let's be focused and fight one thing at a time and make sure we win
Our business should be channelled towards creating jobs for graduates

This is not a political thing this is just a stuggle against inhumane acts by our government and compainies that has left nigerian graduates at ugly situation begging for attention from the government

You are the proverbial inevitable mustard seed the holy book so eloquently talks about. Thank you all for knowing the way, going the way and showing the way. The story will be told tomorrow of how you gave your all for today's national reconstruction.

JOBLESS NIGERIAN GRADUATES INAUGURATE ONLINE ASSOCIATION

Some Nigerians youths have formed a group online with a view to tackling joblessness in the country. On the Facebook page of the group known as the National Association of Unemployed Graduates, the youths said the initiative was set up to solve the problem of unemployment in Nigeria. The move, they added, was to “cleanse the country of the virus called unemployment” by holding government at all levels accountable.

A message on the group’s Facebook page said their coming together became imperative as the menace of “unemployment is eating us up like a viral disease.” According to them, inspite of their various ethnic backgrounds, they are united in the fight against unemployment.

They lamented the situation where applicants who were merely trying to survive were forced to part with money to secure employment forms. The youth, who hold regular discussions and chats on Facebook, Twitter and on an online forum, nairaland.com said they were determined to address the socio-economic imbalances for which the unemployed Nigerian graduates are victims.

Members of the association on Facebook as of Thursday are 801 in number. One Amobi Omekwu, who is a member of the group in a post on the Facebook page said, “I’m not into this struggle because I want the government to employ me. No! I might never be a direct beneficiary of the benefits

He noted that while the group will be engaging the government on the provision of employment
opportunities and enabling environment, it would also be liaising with corporate bodies and relevant government agencies with a view to mentoring them to becoming successful entrepreneurs.

Abuya said, “Besides the issues of unemployment, we will be making our voices heard against underemployment and contract staffing by various corporate bodies which is now the order of the day.

“The association has been receiving widespread acceptance as some Nigerian youths who left the country, due to hardship and unemployment, have called me to laud the initiative. That is why I appreciate the advantages, which the advent of social media brought to our generation. This wouldn’t have been possible without the new media.”

Most times people say its better to teach me to fish than to give me fish..
But come to think of it...isn't it when there is a pond or a river that the Master fisher can teach you how to fish..
Since this is like a parable...let me break it down
The fish is the income, the revenue, the enjoyment of been an entrepreneur
The fisherman is the government
The river and pond are the enabling environment
Its the duty of the fisherman to look for a suitable pond, lake or river for fishing purposes, in short in the Nigerian contest the fisher man owns the entire river( i.e all land belongs to the government, our oil funds, all trade, taxes and all means of generating revenue)
(The river is what economist call factors of production(land, labour, capital),enabling environment(power(PHCN),good roads, water, education and so many basic amenities)
So you can see from this simple illustration that it is only when we have the river that even the fisherman can teach people to fish
Once we have that, everyone's good to go
Now we all know we have a problem(thank God for that)
And if statistics says we are 30 in number altogether
All 30 graduates can't be employed by the government(Good)!
Why cant you(the government) make provisions for 15 directly and indirectly the 15 would take care of 5 making 20 and the rest(10) would be entrepreneurs(perfect)
Simple logic

Some Nigerians still compare people, have you guys forgotten the wide gap between the rich and the poor
You want people to walk in your shoes
How can you judge a man with a broken leg to walk in your shoes
FELLOW NIGERIANS
Let's open our heart, minds and brains

So many people are talking about escape route for members when the eventually get a job...(Selfish thinking- can't you sacrifice for others or do you think all these is gonna be a days job)
Some are saying they started business with 70'k

You guys has never been hungry before

You guys have cars
You guys pay people to work for you in the day and club all night
You guys have never tasted poverty
You guys go to london for shopping
You guys feed your dogs with hundreds of thousands and millions to wet your flowers
For these reasons I can blame you
I won't blame you
May God be with you all

From our facebook page Okeke Donatus
I wish that we need truthful and trustworthy men, nt men that wl use us as avenue to generate resources from politicians(preferably, clergymen. E.g bishops, cardinal, pastors, imam). Who hv greatest zeal to d future of today's youth, an icon of valour with dignified eloquency. He who is being touched by the merciless cry and continual agony of d future youth of our mother nation. I suggest we consult catholic cardinal, trusted imam, and other nobblemen. No procastination. Let action start !

But come to think of it haven't our churches and mosques been politicised?
Most imams and pastors have politicians they are loyal to
We have to be very careful so religion won't lead to politics
Though I know the catholic clergymen have a couple of NGOs that are wise for us to patner with
We Don't need any religious leaders as trustees

There is a saying that goes thus "uneasy lies the head that wears the crown". Over a couple of weeks now since NAUG made public its executive members, work has been going on by these officials to make sure the associations sticks to its guns on the struggle against unemployment in Nigeria. The executives has been serving as a strategist team, and yet they still have a lot to do which can't be done alone, including getting trustees from the 6 geopolitical zones, we have decide to have two each from a zone and also to balance it gender ratio between the male and the female folks. NAUG hereby use this means as a source of invitation to noble men and women of timbre and calibre who would wholeheartedly from the bottom of their hearts would to be our trustees to please contact us.

I must congratulate the general public and those that have stood by us and our members who have been with us all through the struggle.
We have been getting encouraging results from the Cooperate Affairs Commission(C.A.C) as regards to registration and getting our trustee is part of the registration process. We all must understand that its not an easy process, our constitution has been drafted and our lawyers have given the go ahead. As part of the criteria for registration we now wish to invites trustees, men and women of noble character,( preferably not politicians)for the smooth running of the association from across the Federation. And to interested members, the website would ready in exactly 7 days from now, members would register free online and no monthly dues would be demanded.this trend is also opened to suggestions about trustees(if you feel there is anyone we can approach)

1)Its only in my country that having a masters degree is a great disadvantage for job qualification!!

2)My neighbour just echoed to my ears that we have so many jobs(shoe makers, road side mechanics, tailors, carpenters) in Nigeria but we can't develop our careers as(Architects,Engineers, scientist, doctors,Agriculturalists)

So if u need a job its easy
And if you want a career join the crew
To fight these plaque
