This story is just so shocking as it is entirely false. Unfortunately, those commenting don’t even know what they commenting about. I used my own to buy petrol yesterday and someone somewhere wrote a silky report that FG has dashed the hope of workers by not paying. Money wey we don collect clean mouth.
You are fortunate to work with an MDA who draws account from the treasury or an MDA who generate its own revenue.

How many of such MDAs abound. How do non treasury funded agencies expecially those that are non revenue generating pay their staff without increase in statutory allocation to cover for it.

Except the government comes out clean on this, this method does not make sense and it will cause a lot of issues...

Vanguard and whoever wrote this nonsense have very poor understanding of the issues and they also deliberately misrepresented the circular.

To start with, there is nothing like 40% increment yet. Where vanguard got their 40% increment in unknown as there is absolutely nothing like that in the circular.

Secondly, the payment of the 35k wage award is clear and straightforward. Treasury funded staff are to be paid directly from treasury and they have paid already. Non-treasury funded staff will as usual be paid by their respective agencies from revenue generate by the MDAs. It’s simple and straightforward.

So, what’s the dashes hope about a policy that has already been fully implemented?
I agree the reportage as regarding the 40% salary increase is misleading. However, how are non treasury funded MDAs who are not revenue generating suppose to get the needed funds to pay their staff?

Thanks.

I have heard so much about UDUS even Unimaid. The security challenge is the issue. Too risky for a 16year old girl that spent all of her time in a closed guided catholic boarding school. It is easier and faster for a boy to toughen up and adjust in such environment. The parents have alreafy ruled out certain regions.
The North is not as bad as we from the South see it or are made to believe. Yes, there is insecurity in the North but truth is insecurity is in every region of the country. Even in the North the insecurities are more prominent in the outskirts.

Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto is in the heart of the city and I can tell you it is relatively peaceful - more peaceful than a lot of Southern cities.

That score is too good to throw away. Being female and young should not be a barrier. There are younger ladies here as well and trust me all she needs is to join CMDA and she would be well groomed and cultured.

The environment here makes it a bit difficult to turn wayward.

Yes, the weather is extreme - she will adapt. The road is far - surely she will cope. It is the seat of the caliphate - all she needs to do is to mind her business and she will do just fine.

However, if Sokoto is too far, then Unijos could be an option.

Go and read that story well.
She said someone advised her to change her course to Anatomy which she did.
So JAMB didn't consider her for Medicine rather Anatomy.
After much enquiry, She wasn't even the first 2 top scorers from her state. Which was what ABU used as a criteria.
But she would had had the admission if she hadn't changed her course to Anatomy.

After everything all said and done, ABU was right!
JAMB only asked ABU to consider her for Medicine since the case had raised a lot of dust.

NB:ABU was right after all.
Let's be guided.
I'm not saying the system is 100% clean but give them some credit especially First batch.

©️2021
You understand what I mean. ABU criteria for merit is 2 per state irrespective of your score which is unfair.
Education / Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by ejehijustice(m): 3:42pm On Jan 16, 2021
samuelpeters:

You are not getting the point.
This is not about on paper. grin

Most universities combined those stages and call it merit list or first batch/primary list.
I am talking from experience bro.

Merit is the highest applicant irrespective of state of origin to the number they want, then CUTOFF others, same with Catchment and ELDs.
Maybe those people with highest score are from some particular state of origin.

Let me tell you this too;
1. An applicant from a university's catchment area and his/her state is also ELDs has 100% chance of gaining admission.
2. An applicant from university's catchment area has 80% Chance of gaining admission.
3. An applicant who is not from a university's catchment area but is under ELDs has 65% chance.
4. An applicant who is not from a university's catchment and whose state is not ELD has 45% chance.

Let me use ABU as an example;
ABU has all northern states as her Catchment area and all these states are also ELDs.

An applicant from any of those northern states, has a 45+35+30=100% Chance of admission.

An applicant from the SE/SW has only 45% chance of admission. Because they ain't ELDs and their states are not in ABU's catchment area.

An Applicant from SS aside Rivers,Edo and Delta has 65% while those states I listed has 45%.
This is how it works!

MERIT/PRIMARY LIST/FIRST BATCH IS STRICTLY MONITORED BY JAMB.
All universities in Nigeria have a Merit list/primary/first batch that is 98-99.9% Unadulterated.

From 2nd batch, Anything can happen. JAMB doesn't care too... So if you don't make it in first batch, it means you ain't qualifed enough. So anything you see from 2nd batch is non of your business. Even if you take it to court, you will lose!

People need to understand this admission process, know their chances of admission, before applying to a University so they don't lose out with a small margin.
Then start disturbing social media.

©️2021.

Boss I understand your point it is very explanatory.

Nevertheless, I reside in Zaria and I am privy to ABU's mode of admission.

ABU's merit list is not the top scorers irrespective big state but respective of state. They admit for medicine I think the highest 2 per state as her merit list.

If a person scores 320 from Oyo state as long as he is not the highest 2 from his state he has missed out of the merit list admission, while a person from Jigawa will be admitted ahead of him on merit list even if his score is 250 as long as he is among the highest 2 from his state.

In ABU it is said that the competition is between you and people from your state and not really the whole aspirant.

The ABU merit list pattern is flawed and it seems most northern universities follow suit.

Your explanation is how it ought to be but it seems as though it is only southern universities that adhere small to this thing.

samuelpeters:

Let me explain admission process so others will understand too.

This will be lengthy kind of... cheesy
You can ask me if you are confused.

We have Merit 45%, catchment 35% and Educational Less developed states (ELDs)20%.
But what we really see in our universities are
Merit:40%.
Catchment:30%.
ELDs:20%.
University discretion:10%.

I will use a department with carrying capacity of 100, so it would be easy to understand.

After UTME and post-UTME and all applicants average have been considered.

1. First stage: The university will pick from the HIGHEST SCORE till it gets to the 45th applicant; Then others are now CUTOFF from there( that is how we get our cutoff-mark).These applicants are selected irrespective of their region or tribe.
Example: if the 45th person has a score of 75. It means others were cut off from 75. So Merit cutoff-mark for that course will be 75.

2. 2nd stage: is to select catchment area; The university will now group all applicants according to their state of origin. To see how close an applicant's state of origin falls into the university catchment area. The 35 slots will now be divided equally to each state that falls under the catchment area.
Example: A university has only 5 states that fall under her catchment area, the university will allocate 7 slots for each state.
So the university will now select the HIGHEST score from that STATE OF ORIGIN till it gets to the 7th person and others are cuttoff from that State(catchment cut off).
That is how the university will do for each state that falls under her catchment.
That is the reason why catchment cut off is always lower than Merit.
Example: if an applicant scored 74, he will be cutoff from merit(75) but will be considered in catchment ( since others from his state of origin with 75+ must have been selected on Merit already). It will continue until the 7th person that has say 72, which becomes the catchment cutoff-mark for that state.

3. Stage 3: ELDs; The university, having grouped all applicants according to their state of origins, will now select states that are educational disadvantaged, and select from the HIGHEST till the number they want and Cut off others.

That is how a University gets her Merit cutoff, Catchment cutoff and ELDs cutoff marks.
If you are very close to those in a university's admission office;
You will see all catchment cutoff-mark according to each state and ELDs according to each state.

Some universities join all these stages together and release it as their Merit/First batch admission List.

4. Exceptions: Some departments may not get much applicants to select from;
The university may announce that those that fall short of their cutoff-mark should apply to other departments.
While some universities will not announce, they will do it at their discretion.
In all; all these processes will start coming in from 2nd batch, the university starts pushing applicants to some funny departments. Example: from Medicine to fishery.

Those will connections will use it and still get their dream course. Top officials in the university and beyond e.g. JAMB also have slots.
All these ones fall under the 10% University discretion.

It will continue like that( 2nd batch,3rd batch and so on) until the carrying capacity of the department is exhausted.

So if you don't have connections or money, your best bet is to make sure you score as high as possible. Because from 2nd batch; it is at the university discretion where someone with 50 will get Medicine while you with 71 will be pushed to zoology or lose admission entirely.

NB: I used a federal University to explain it.
For state university, Merit is still the same with Federal.
Catchment area is all LGAs of the state.
ELDs are LGAs that are not really Educationally sound.

I believe we now understand how a University's admission process works. grin

©️2021.
On paper this is how it ought to be, but some schools still choose to do their village thing as regards admission process.

For example ABU and most northern university admit the highest person per state as their merit list, this is to the disadvantage of non catchment area states.

Merit ought to be irrespective of state but only the highest from a state is admitted as merit list.

The policy is so unfair.

However, thanks for your sumission, it was really explanatory.

Education / The Power Of The Social Media: 18 January 2021 Resumption Date Is Sacrosanct by ejehijustice(m): 12:24am On Jan 15, 2021
THE POWER OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA: AT LAST 18 JANUARY 2021 RESUMPTION DATE IS SACROSANCT

I watched on TVC news few minutes ago that the minister of education held a meeting with relevant stakeholders in the educational sector and okayed 18th January 2021 as the resumption date after his statement few days ago sparked an outrage among the student population.

Irked by the statement of the minister of education that 18 January 2021 date of resumption of school was not sacrosanct and would be reviewed, I wrote an article titled "Mallam Adamu Adamu Open our Schools," this article along with other articles written by parents, students and concerned individuals were shared among various social media platforms and gained great momentum.

The body language of the government was to postpone resumption date of schools indefinitely under the guise of a spike in Covid - 19 cases while other sectors be allowed to run almost smoothly; the statement by Mallam Adamu Adamu was just to test the waters. Had we kept quite, by now we would not even have a feasible date or plan in place for resumption of schools.

It beats my imagination that with the time already lost to the lockdown and ASUU strike, our government could even contemplate shutting schools any further, this gives us an idea of where their priority lies. Nevertheless, we will never remain silent and be traumatized by their irresponsible policies, instead we will stand up and fight and demand for what is ours howbeit within the arm-bit of the law.

We would never resort to propaganda, violence, insurgency or terrorism instead we will engage government intellectually with facts and superior arguments using the power of the social media.

Although endsars protest was hijacked by hoodlums, you would agree with me that the beginning of it was well coordinated and it yielded results, thanks to the social media. With the social media, we have forced the government to maintain 18 January 2020 resumption date as well as other irresponsible policies that were rescinded because of our resolve.

I reiterate, we will never indulge in any form of violence but continue to engage government with facts and superior arguments like we did to the saga of the resumption date.

With the statement of UNICEF that schools are not the drivers of Covid - 19 we have been justified and students can now go back to school and be allowed to study in peace without threat of closure no matter the spike in cases.

I enjoin all to maintain the safety protocols and guidelines issued by NCDC especially as schools are ready to resume as the fight is not yet over. Covid - 19 has come to stay, we must learn to live with it.

Finally, I appreciate everyone who wrote an article or a post to express their displeasure and air their veiw as regards the minister's statement on the resumption date and all those who shared my article, "Mallam Adamu Adamu open our schools," across all social media platforms, your voice has been heard and your fight has been won. That school will be resuming on the 18 January 2020 as earlier announced and not postponed is by your making. You guys are the real deal, you made it happen.

At last 18 January 2021 resumption date is very sacrosanct, thanks to your resolve.

Remember the fight is not over, maintain social distancing, use your face mask, wash or sanitize your hands and obey all Covid - 19 guidelines and protocols as will be issued out from time to time by NCDC, PTF and relevant bodies.

Stay safe.

Education / Mallam Adamu Adamu Open Our Schools by ejehijustice(m): 4:20pm On Jan 12, 2021
MALLAM ADAMU ADAMU OPEN OUR SCHOOLS

We received the news with utmost shock that the FG mulls the postponement of resumption of schools already slated for 18 January 2021.

A lot of people greeted the announcement of the date with a lot of skeptism when it was announced by the PTF on 24 December 2020, notwithstanding, looked forward to it. Not forgetting that University students had been at home for close to 10 months partly due to Covid - 19 and mostly due to ASUU strike.

When ASUU announced the suspension of her 9 months old strike, the news was greeted with excitement and enthusiasm as students were eager to resume schools immediately until PTF dashed their hopes for another 5 weeks.

Just barely a week to resumption, the minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu is again suggesting that schools be closed indefinitely in a time when students, mostly university students have lost a whole academic year.

Covid -19 has come to stay and we must learn to live with it.

Somebody asked, "what is the rationale of shutting down schools till 18 January 2021, will Covid disappear before then?" Even if schools are shut indefinitely, it does not seem like the virus will go anytime soon, even with vaccines, it takes years to vaccinate a country like Nigeria to attain herd immunity. It takes years to fight a pandemic.

And with Covid - 19 which I believe is not as virulent as the government and media portray it to be and with the recovery rate high and with youth and children having better immune against it, I don't understand why Mallam Adamu Adamu will suggest that schools which is largely made up of children and youth be shut down indefinitely.

Let us not forget he was the one in June who suggested that our children should not be allowed to write WAEC and NECO exams insisting they miss an academic year even when smaller West Africa Countries were prepared to write the exams. Shame on the giant of Africa but for the pressure of parents, some state governors and prominent persons, our children would have been denied their right to education. I am sure they are all dead from covid - 19 complications.

Mallam Adamu Adamu is grossly incompetent, bereft of ideas and innovations and should be shown the exit door.

In an age of technology, where ground breaking research on how to combat covid -19 is ongoing, Mallam Adamu is suggesting our ivory towers be locked up indefinitely with no alternative to the problem.

It seems Covid - 19 is anti-education as it affects only schools. The last time I checked markets, religious centres, banks, offices, airports etc are open with large crowd with fragrant disregard to Covid -19 safety protocols yet they are yet to be shut down but schools must be closed indefinitely. This shows us one thing our government have no regard for education, besides their children school in saner climes while the children of the poor are left to bear the brunt of their irresponsible policies.

Let me remind you that during the first wave, while schools were closed, election campaign and rally held with mammoth crowd in Edo and Ondo states, one would have thought that the morgues in Edo and Ondo would be filled by now by Covid - 19 related deaths but alas the states are bubbling months after the election.

Let me also remind you that while schools are closed, NIMC centres are overcrowded with complete disregard to Covid -19 safety protocols yet the centres are yet to be closed but schools must be shut indefinitely.

I am not playing down Covid -19. I believe there is Covid -19, however, it is not as virulent as our government and media has made it to be. The symptoms are milder on the youth which makes up the school population, so why shut down our schools for a virus that has an unprecedented recovery rate especially among youth.

We need our ivory towers to be open as a search for respite is being sought all over the world, alot of livelihood depends on the schools.

Kogi state should be studied to find out what they are doing right because up till now we are yet to see the devastating effect of the Covid - 19 despite Governor Yahaya Bello refusing to lockdown his state, by now one would have expected to see dead bodies litter the streets of Kogi.

Schools should be opened with safety measures put in place and adhered to.

Mallam Adamu Adamu should be sacked and a competent hand with ideas on how to manage the education sector should be employed. We don't need a man whose only idea is that schools be locked indefinitely as the minister of Education. Our schools are already in comatose state already, we don't need to further improverish it. We need solutions not adding to the problems.

I am glad that some States have disregarded the PTF on the 18 January 2020 resumption date and I hope more States should rebel should the resumption date be extended.

Lastly, I call on students, parents, prominent persons, relevant stakeholders, activist, scholars, state governors to prevail on the FG to rescind the decision to extend the reopening of schools like they did when Mallam Adamu Adamu suggested our children should not be allowed to write WAEC and NECO exams, rather protective and safety measures should be put in place with strict compliance.

Covid -19 has come to stay, we must learn to live with it. Shutting down schools is not the solution.

If people can be re-infected, then how is the vaccine suppose to work? I thought once you have been infected, your body builds an immune response to the virus, which makes it difficult to be re-infected, I thought this is how the vaccine works.

The truth I want you to tell people is that, asking people to pay a certain 2k to teach them how to be a millionaire is your own way of hustling, stop making it seem like you are doing it out of goodwill. You are just hustling same way the man you want his 2k is hustling. We are all hustling.

As for those who want to pay him 2k to be a millionaire... I will tell you that a lot of resources are online free if only you will have the patience to learn. However, if you still want to pay just know that millions are not made over night.

Thanks a lot but I was told by the counsellor I can switch to D.E later(for those who wrote jamb first and had good Jupeb scores) but are you saying UNILORIN has to be my first choice and not UI? When upgrading from UME to D.E, can't one select the school that way rather than having it selected in UME?
When upgrading Jamb to DE, you at liberty to choose any school you want.

The question you need to answer is that as at the time of upgrading your UTME to DE will Unilorin sales of post DE still be available?

I shall know that for one to be considered for admission via DE, you must also buy the school post DE form.

Once you can answer the question I posed above, then you can face your UI post UTME, then once JUPEB is good enough, you can upgrade to Unilorin.

Nevertheless, if by the time the upgrade is done, Unilorin sales of post DE might have been closed then it will be better you change to Unilorin and register for their post UTME, it will be easier to convince the school to treat your post UTME as post DE once the upgrade is done.

I planned on using post ume and some connection.
Jamb is making connection harder by the day with the introduction and remodelling of Jamb CAPS.

I will advise you to read the admission guideline released by JAMB for this year admission, if followed strictly, no level for connection o.

However, this is Nigeria and anything is possible but with the way this current registrar of JAMB is going he is moving to sanitise the whole admission process.

Connection will be easier if you have a good score. Anything short of that, you had better reconsidered your option.

Good morning dear, getting NA sponsorship is not that difficult especially if you are in medical corps, after getting your admission in any of the civil institutions just apply through your unit CO which it will be forwarded to your corp headquarters, once your corps commander approves it you are good to go. By the way your corps and NA pls?
infantry corp but attached to medical... I work in the Medical center as a nurse assistant. I serve in Depot NA
