in Nigeria from SL you get to Reader which means Associate Professor. Them you can be a professor later. You have to be in the good book of the management before you become a professor in many Nigerian universities. Some lecturers leave from one institution to another in order to be a professor.. Everything has been politicized.... In polytechnic. the highest rank is Chief Lecturer which is equivalent to a university professor. Even the salary disparity between a professor and a CL in polytechnic is very negligible.

Japan Cops Limits IPOB Efforts to Harass Buhari in Japan

Buhari is currently in Yokohama but the IPOB protesters await for him in the Nigeria Ambassador to Japan’s residence in Tokyo

President Buhari who is in the country on official invitation has been for long threatened to be harassed on any of his abroad trip after the humiliation of former deputy senate president, Senator Ike Ekweremmadu.

The Presidency has since then issued series of responses to the attack threat, meanwhile IPOB members who shared their live event video have insisted on a non violent approach in their bid to unveil the age long assertion that Buhari is long dead and a so called Jubrin from Sudan has so far masked himself as Buhari and is ruling Africa’s most populous nation in disguise.

JUST IN: Atiku confirms N50m paid to Obasanjo Library, says it’s donation

Atiku and Obasanjo: Atiku says money given Obasanjo Library was a donation

Former vice-president Atiku Abubakar has confirmed that some money was indeed given to the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, a transaction that has become part of the money laundering probe by EFCC of the €150million brought into the country by his failed presidential campaign.

But he insisted it was a normal donation because the library is a not-for-profit organisation and that the donation was made via a bank cheque, and not cash of $140,000 that the EFCC is investigating.

The EFCC on 8 August extended to Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, its investigation of the laundered 150 million euros cash-for-poll by associates of former vice-president Atiku Abubakar.

EFCC investigators went to the Library to authenticate the claims by one of those under probe, Mallam Babalele Abdullahi, Atiku’s son-in-law, that he gave $140,000 (about N50 million) in cash to one of the library officials.

The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Abeokuta, Ogun State: EFCC visits to find the recipient of Atiku’s money

According to reports, the EFCC officials, accompanied by policemen, combed some offices at the former President’s Library.

“Also read: https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2019/08/26/efcc-traces-atikus-laundered-money-to-obasanjo-library/

“For the avoidance of doubt, Mallam Babalele Abdullahi, Atiku Abubakar’s son-in-law, did not donate any money in cash to the Olusegun Obasanjo Library. Yes, he did facilitate a donation of fifty million naira to the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, but so did many other individuals, including civic-minded traditional rulers, state Governors, bankers and captains of industry.

“This is because the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library is a non-governmental organisation that plays a pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in Nigeria, and that should be applauded”, said the Vice President in a statement by his media office on Monday.

Atiku is also now reading a sinister motive in the EFCC leaking its probe to the press, by accusing the commission of trying to “cause disaffection and bad blood between him and the former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Raising sentiments that Obasanjo founded, while in office, Atiku slammed the anti-graft agency for being a disappointment.

“An action such as this is tantamount to a river denying its own source, since Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is the fountain of origin of the EFCC, seeing(sic) as he founded the institution and nurtured it to maturity”.

Politics › Tribunal: Buhari And Atiku Know Fate On 13 September by ejimatic(op): 12:50pm On Aug 26, 2019
The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal is set to deliver judgement not later than 13th of September, 2019.

The initial date of September 15 is no longer realistic because it is a Sunday. A source at the court told LEADERSHIP last night that the judgement will be delivered on September 13.

Section 134 (1) to (3) of the Electoral Act provides that an election petition should be filed, heard and determined within 180 days.

The section was inserted into the Electoral Act following a situation where election petitions took up to four years before being resolved, leading to the disruption of the political process in the country.

According to the source, ‘’the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the February 23 presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his party, will definitely be decided before September 15.

‘’They (the tribunal) cannot go beyond that date in deciding the petition one way or the other because by law, that is how far they can go in the case. They can’t sit beyond that day. They are not permitted to do so by law. The 180 days stipulated by the law will elapse that day,’’ he said.

When Atiku filed his petition on March 18, 2019, he told the tribunal that he and his party had assembled about 400 witnesses to prove his case against President Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The tribunal, headed by Justice Mohammed Garba, which began its inaugural sitting on May 7, reserved the petition for judgement on August 21 after hearing the arguments of the parties before it.

Atiku said that the election was marred by irregularities, adding that the president is not qualified and shouldn’t have been allowed to contest the election.

Last week, Atiku in his final address insisted that Buhari lied on oath in his form CF001 which he presented to INEC before standing for the contest.

In the final address presented on his behalf by his lead counsel, Dr. Levy Uzuokwu (SAN), Atiku drew the attention of the tribunal to a portion of Buhari’s form with INEC where he claimed to have three different certificates comprising primary school leaving certificate, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate and Officer Cadet’s certificate.

The petitioners said that it was shocking that “no provisional certificate, no certified true copy of the certificates, no photocopy of the certificates and in fact, no electronic version of any of the certificates were presented by Buhari throughout the hearing of the petition to dispute their claims.

“More worrisome is the fact that Buhari’s own witness Maj-Gen. Paul Tarfa (rtd), who joined the Nigerian Army with him in 1962, told the tribunal that they were never asked to submit their certificates to the Nigerian Army Board as claimed by Buhari in his form CF001.

“At any rate, the secretary of the Nigerian Army Board, Olatunde Olaleye, had in a statement clarified that Buhari had no single certificate in his personal file with the Nigerian Army,” he said.

Atiku, therefore, urged the tribunal to nullify the participation of Buhari in the election on the grounds that he lied on oath to deceive Nigerians and to secure unlawful qualification for the election.

The former vice president further informed the tribunal that the claim of Buhari that he can read and write in English language as enough qualification for him was of “no moment” because ordinary artisans on the streets also do so, adding that a grave allegation bordering on certificate was not addressed by the president as required by law.

The PDP presidential candidate also faulted the claim by INEC that it had no central server, adding that a server is a storage facility including computers where database of registered voters, number of permanent voter cards and election results amongst others are stored for references.

He, therefore, urged the tribunal to uphold the petition and nullified the participation of Buhari in the election on the ground that he was not qualified to have stood for the election, in addition to malpractices that prompted his declaration as the winner.

But, INEC represented by Yunus Usman (SAN) urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition with substantial cost because the electoral body conducted the election in total compliance with the Nigerian constitution and Electoral Act 2010.

Usman insisted that INEC did not transmit election results electronically because doing so was prohibited by law and that the commission did not call any witness because there was no need to do so.

In his defence, President Buhari through his legal team argued that Atiku’s petition was liable to be dismissed because it was lacking in evidence, merit and substance and that the petition is ill-advised and signified nothing.

He cited Section 131 of the constitution which stipulates a minimum of secondary school attendance to qualify for the election in Nigeria, adding that he cannot go beyond that and that he does not need to tender or attached certificates before he can get qualification for any election.

The APC represented by Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) in its submission said that the petition lacked quality evidence that could warrant the nullification of the election as pleaded by the petitioners and urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition as long as its hand can do with huge cost.

Politics › Re: Tinubu Wanted To Be Vice-President To Atiku – Bucknor-Akerele by ejimatic: 12:21pm On Aug 26, 2019
nairavsdollars:
Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), wanted to be vice president to Atiku Abubakar in the 2007 general elections, Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, former deputy-governor of Lagos State, has revealed.

Atiku was vice president from 1999 to 2007, and was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Daily Independent at the weekend, Bucknor-Akerele, who was elected as deputy to Tinubu on the platform of the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 1999, said Tinubu sought her support to hijack the party from the leaders so as to use it for his political ambition.

Speaking further, she said her refusal to support Tinubu in his plans was the genesis of her political travails which eventually culminated in her resignation in December, 2002.

Bucknor-Akerele said: “He (Tinubu) did call me and said to me that he thought we should take over the party from the elders, who were the founders of the party.

“When I asked him why he wanted to do that, he said he needed to take control of the party structure because he wanted to be vice president to Atiku Abubakar in 2007.

“I said but how is that possible since Atiku is not a member of our party? We are in Alliance for Democracy (AD) while Atiku belongs to the PDP? He said I shouldn’t worry about that and should just cooperate with him in his plans.

“As a principled person, I refused and that was the genesis of my trouble with him. I believed that we should face governance and that the founders of the party should continue to run the party.”

Bucknor-Akerele also denied the claim that her relationship with Tinubu got strained because of insubordination.

“Well, I don’t think it is insubordination because, as my principal then, there was nothing he asked me to do that I did not do, at least as far as my duties as the deputy governor were concerned.

“The only thing I didn’t do is to join him in taking over the party from the elders who had supported us and put us as governor and deputy governor.

“He wanted me to join him in taking over the party from the elders and I refused. I believed that was a betrayal of trust which I would not be a party to.”

Also speaking on the crisis in Afenifere, Bucknor-Akerele insisted that the Reuben Fasoranti-led Afenifere cannot work together with the faction led by Senator Ayo Fasanmi because they don’t share the same ideology.

According to her, while the Fasoranti-led Afenifere is protecting and fighting for the interest of the Yoruba, the faction led by Senator Ayo Fasanmi is fighting for Tinubu’s interest.

“First of all, the group led by Ayo Fasanmi is not working for the interest of the Yoruba, as far as I am concerned. They are only after the interest of Bola Tinubu because he is the one who formed them and so they are working for his interest alone.

“So, the question of working together can hardly arise when one group is working for the interest of the Yoruba and the other is working for the interest of one man.

“To me, the Fasanmi faction is not Afenifere; the real Afenifere is the one being led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

“Afenifere was formed from Egbe Omo Oduduwa. My late father was the first President of the Egbe Omo Oduduwa and Chief Obafemi Awolowo was the Secretary. Egbe Omo Oduduwa was formed in my father’s house in London.

“They then brought it to Nigeria, and it was at a meeting of the Egbe Omo Oduduwa that Akinloye said, ‘What shall we call this group to make it appeal to the masses? We can’t call it Egbe Omo Oduduwa’.

“He said why don’t we call it Afenifere? And that was how Afenifere began. Afenifere was the precursor of the Action Group (AG).”

Also speaking on her expectations from new ministers who were inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari last week, Bucknor-Akerele said she had no expectations because the APC-controlled Federal Government had nothing to offer.

“I have no expectations whatsoever from this government. None at all. This government has nothing to offer, as far as I am concerned. They said next level; next level to where? Into the dungeon? I am sorry, but Nigeria is in a very sorry state. Are we calling ourselves a nation now?

“Look at what is happening! The economy has collapsed, yet they keep on lying to us that the economy is doing well. When they took over in May 2015, Gross Domestic Product was 5.1 percent, but today it is 1.4 percent.

“We know the exchange rate of the naira to the dollar, what it was then and we know how much it is now. It is almost tripled, yet they promised us that they would make one naira equals to the dollar. So, you can see that this is a government of liars. They are only there to line their pockets,” she said.
https://www.independent.ng/tinubu-wanted-to-be-vp-to-atiku-bucknor-akerele/
. wjonis not ambitious among politicians in Nigeria? How did she become the deputy governor? through ambition! If APC are liars are PDP sincere? Akerele is a person who has no relevance in Lagos again!

The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Abeokuta, Ogun State: EFCC visits to find the recipient of Atiku’s money

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has extended to Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, its investigation of the laundered 150 million euros cash-for-poll by associates of former vice-president Atiku Abubakar

It was learnt that the investigators went to the Library on August 8 to authenticate the claims by one of those under probe that he gave $140,000 (about N50 million) to one of the library officials.

According to reports, the EFCC officials, accompanied by policemen, combed some offices at the former President’s Library.

It could not be confirmed whether any document was taken away by the operatives, but nobody was arrested.

“Our operatives went to the library with some riot policemen in anticipation of a possible resistance. But there was none.We did our job lawfully without any inhibition. We are still investigating the case. We are screening some documents in our possession on the matter, ” an EFCC investigator told The Nation.

The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library was opened on March 4, 2017. It is a historic, tourist and academic centre established as a national archive for the preservation of documents and materials used by the President during his tenure between 1999 and 2007.

Atiku’s son-in-law Abdullahi Babalele is being investigated alongside others for allegedly laundering €150 million. The money was believed to have been spent to influence the 2019 election in which Atiku was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate

About €67, 950,000 was traced to ex-VP Atiku’s associate Mr Uyi Giwa-Osagie’s account, Babalele’s account, two slush firms and two Bureau de Change operators.

Babalele is expected to account for 41,900,000 euros.

Sources said of the cash credited to Babalele’s account, he gave about N50million ($140,000) to his childhood friend, Bashir Mohammed to deliver to an official at the Presidential Library in Abeokuta. The anti-graft agency is investigating why the money was taken to the Presidential Library.

It was learnt that Bashir was taken by detectives to the Presidential Library.

Those interrogated including Babalele, Osagie and Mohammed, are on administrative bail pending the filing of a case against them.”

Yes affidavit is a legal document recognized in law but what happens in a situation where what you swore to in your affidavit contradicts the original documents you are trying to defend with your affidavit? Are you now saying it will still make the content of the affidavit valid? This is the issue with Buhari here.

Cc: great job there engineerboat tuniski I am proud of you guys
. I appreciate your maturity in responses.....Buhari said his certificate is with the army...He stated his results in it.....is there any difference with the one he tendered in court? No is the answer....The interpretation is that the certificate was not available as at the time he was filling the form to contest. Now the certificate is available regardless of its source.....It is still in order.

Was his certificate with the army
. Affjdavit is a legal document that covers every situation.. It is a representation of what is true....The copy of what he presented support the breakdown in the affidavit or its content .It is still in order in law.
