Politics › Re: 2023: Yoruba elders send message to Buhari over El-Rufai’s presidential ambition by ejimatic: 8:49pm On Oct 12, 2019 |
Ecstasy154: The Yoruba Council of Elders, YCE, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to, without further delay, call the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai to order.
The Yoruba elders pointed out that the campaign by the north to contest the 2023 presidency with the South will plunge the country into a major crisis.
It said there should be no controversy over 2023, adding that it is the South’s turn in 2023 to takeover power.
YCE, scribe, Dr Kunle Olajide warned that Northern politicians must not make careless statements or remarks that can plunge Nigeria into crisis since Nigeria is a fragile country, and presently tottering and bleeding.
“Buhari should call APC members to order over 2023. He should call his party members to order. Buhari should call Governor el-Rufai to order. These people are not only distracting Buhari, but they are also disturbing the peace of Nigeria,” he was quoted by Sun.
“There should be no controversy over 2023. It is the South’s turn in 2023. Zoning is sacrosanct, and el-Rufai, Tofa and these groups from the North calling for the scrapping of zoning in 2023 are not only greedy and unpatriotic, but they are also enemies of Nigeria. They want to derail Nigeria. Northern leaders and elders should call el-Rufai, and Tofa to order.
“Nigeria is a fragile country, and presently the country is tottering and bleeding, politicians have to watch it. They must not make careless statements or remarks that can plunge Nigeria into crisis.
“This is what el-Rufai, Tofa and others calling for the scrapping of zoning are doing. If they truly love Nigeria, they should stop making inflammatory statements. They should not allow their personal interests and greed to put Nigeria’s unity in jeopardy.
“Nigeria is already deeply divided, and scrapping zoning is like inviting anarchy. Scrapping zoning will create further division among Nigerians.
“The present zoning arrangement should not be tinkered with. Scrapping zoning will have grave consequences for Nigeria.
“For Tofa and el-Rufai to say that zoning is dead or should be scrapped when it is supposed to be the turn of the South in 2023 is an insult to the sensibilities of Nigerians, and it is not acceptable.
“I believe that Gov. el-Rufai is just testing the waters by saying that zoning should be scrapped, and perhaps he is doing that because of the rumoured reports that he has presidential ambition in 2023, but if he has that ambition, he should just drop or forget it because by now his eyes should be clear that he and others in their group in the North who also have same interest will be resisted.
“Why must el-Rufai, Tofa and others in the North be calling for the scrapping of zoning in 2023 when it is supposed to be the turn of the South? This is why I said earlier that some of these politicians are greedy and very unpatriotic. They don’t think of Nigeria first. They are selfish and self-centred.
“Then again, Tofa and el-Rufai should not think there is one monolithic North again. The North is divided now and you can see that the people of the Middle Belt are already saying that they are no longer part of the North.
“For me, I believe that all these jostling for power at the centre will stop if Nigeria is restructured. If we return to a true practice of federalism like it was done in the First Republic, all these struggles for power at the centre will stop.
“Not only that, restructuring will also put an end to all the present socio-economic woes facing Nigeria. This is what I expect all these elements in the North and APC talking about scrapping zoning in 2023 to tell President Muhammadu Buhari to do.
“If Buhari truly loves Nigeria and also shares the same vision and ideals with the founding fathers of Nigeria, he should take the issue of restructuring serious, and ensure that he does it before the expiration of his second term.”

cashcity: It is no longer news that Nigerian government just passed the bill to increase minimum wage from N18, 000 to N30, 000.
I'm currently employed in one of our country's ministry agency 2yrs ago at level 8 on a salary of about N121, 000 per month.
My fellow nairalanders please help me to understand the modalities in the calculations and how the minimum wage increment is going to affect my current salary.. . If you work for Federal government your Level 7 will be close to 80 or 90 k. while level 8 will be close to 115k or close to 120k However regardless of the money as from Level 7 you are a Senior Staff. .The government wants to pay 9% of your present salary as an addition to your real salary as from level 7 to 11....So if your money is 120k just add 9% of the money to it.You get your new salary. As from Level 12 and above is 5% addition. The NLC does not want that increase. It is proposing 30%increase for Level 7 to 15.....If fully applied Level 1 will get 30k while level 6 will get about 70 or 80k. |
Politics › Re: Omo-Agege Presents Sexual Harassment Bill To Senate by ejimatic: 1:24pm On Oct 09, 2019 |
Nksleek: Subsequent to the BBC sex for grade documentary indicting university professors of sexually molesting their students, the Sexual Harassment Bill, 2019 (SB. 77) sponsored by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has been read for the First Time on the floor of the Senate.
According to the Deputy Senate President, “I am wholly convinced that the unique student-educator relationship of authority, dependency and trust should never be violated.
By the maxim of ‘loco parentis’, educators are like parents. They owe a special fiduciary duty of care to students under their authority - students who trust and depend on them to shape their future career paths. It must therefore be extremely offensive to a reasonable mind where an educator treats students as ‘perquisites’ of his office. As a father, it is an issue that I cannot just accept. It is a shame on our conscience as a people. We will stop it. ...”
The Prevention, Prohibition And Redressal of Sexual Harassment in Tertiary Educational Institutions Bill, 2019 which is co-sponsored by 106 other senators specifically makes it a criminal offence for any educator in a university, polytechnic or any other tertiary educational institution to violate or exploit the student-lecturer fiduciary relationship for sexual pleasures.
The Bill imposes stiff penalties on offenders in it's overall objective of providing tighter statutory protection for students against sexual hostility and all forms of sexual harassment in tertiary schools.
The Bill provides a compulsory five-year jail term for lecturers who sexually harass students. When passed into law, vice chancellors of universities, rectors of polytechnics and other chief executives of institutions of higher learning will go to jail for two years if they fail to act within a week on complaints of sexual harassment made by students.
The Bill expressly allows sexually harassed students, their parents, or guardians to seek civil remedies in damages against sexual predator lecturers before or after their successful criminal prosecution by the State.
The Bill also seeks protection from sexual harassment for prospective students seeking admissions into higher educational institutions, students of generally low mental capacity and physically challenged students.
The Bill also stipulates as offences solicitation of sex or sexual advances by lecturers which result to intimidation, hostile or offensive environment for students. It makes provision for “institutional disciplinary procedures” to be followed by any sexually harassed student to report or submit a formal sexual harassment complaint within a tertiary institution to the administrative head of the institution. Administrative heads of tertiary academic institutions are mandated under the bill to protect students who made sexual harassment complaints from any form of victimisation in their learning.
Senator Omo-Agege believes that students, regardless of age are incapable of giving voluntary consent to unwelcomed sexual advances or demands for sexual favours by lecturers in any student-lecturer fiduciary relationship. A lecturer occupies a position of huge public trust in a student-lecturer fiduciary relationship. That relationship is a delicate one. We know of students with strong character who reject demand for sexual favours and are punished by making them fail in exams that they ordinarily passed. That should never happen. Senator Omo-Agege believes strongly that as parents, legislators owe our children a solemn duty to pass very tough and clear laws to protect our children against sexual perverts masquerading as teachers.
Source: https://focusnaija.com.ng/2019/10/09/sex-for-grades-omoagege-presents-sexual-harassment-bill-to-senate/ . The major defect of this bill is that it is limited to academic institutions. It should go beyond schools.Sexual harassment is in ministries hospitals. local governments and in all private and public establishments even among politicians. The bill should cover every place including families....I advise Omo Agege to make it a broad bill. |

BizLifeE: okay let me give a different view from Kennedy’s cabal theory.
Lagos was congested and due to the nature of the terrain, it was difficult to expand and have the kind of infrastructure that was envisaged. Abuja in the center of the country has virtually limitless land for expansion. World class infrastructure has been built but has fallen into disrepair due to poor maintenance and planning culture.
Security was also a nightmare due to the congestion. There had been 2 assassinations of the President already and 4 changes of government in violent ways. It was believed that there was a need to have a better position for the seats of government. The seat of government in Abuja is in a wide expanse of land where movement around the whole city can be monitored. There has never been violent transfer of power since the capital moved in 1993.
Lagos was deeply entrenched in the heartland of one of the main ethnic groups in Nigeria and there was no chance it was going to loosen up. Contrary to the widely held belief in the South of Nigeria, Abuja is not Hausa land but the minority Gwari tribe. Igbo people from South of Nigeria are now the largest land holders in Abuja.
The 70s was a time of Black/African renaissance and the belief that the black man had a great manifest destiny was still alive. Abuja was therefore conceived of as a City that will be a showpiece and pride of the Black race.
If the cabal was all about regionalism and tribalism, Kaduna would have been the choice of the new Capital not Abuja.

HappyCanadian: Hey Guys,
So I had an appointment which made me come to school early today, after that I headed to my class, as I walked in tears dropped my eyes, the memories of how crazy my class was during my undergraduate in Naija just came to my mind.
Take a look at a class and washroom and see the difference in the garbage we have back home. A school with every amenities u could ever think of,, name it . But in 9ja all we do is to glorify politicians that are illiterate, incompetent, corrupt and clueless, imagine the kind of president we have in this 21st century coupled with the cabals, how do we move forward?
Let me not talk of TRIBALISM AND ETHNIC BIGOTRY sef.. Well I won't say much, I am happy I left and I am cool but winter will soon come I will only think of Naija if I wanna come to see my Mum and siblings.
We need to do better in that country. Imagine a country with educated elites and see who is ruling us. And worst of it is that many Nigerian youths focus on irrelevant things probably scared of being picked up if they talk. If our government was responsible and accountable we would have had a better place.
Most times the weird and barbaric news I read here its saddening. It wasn't as bad as this when GEJ was in power but we won't accept the truth.
Say whatever u want to say but it doesn't concern me until I decide to come home briefly, I am only speaking for the good of all.
May God help Us.. Peace! . Our classes can be like this in Nigeria but we are all paying for lack of good leadership and poor followership.. If education is invested on and overhauled there will be good lecture halls and. classes in Nigeria institutions..However even when money is released will the school management spend it well? Will the contractors be selected on merits? We have the resources in Nigeria but corruption and poor leadership are affecting our progress. Do you know how much was stolen and mismanaged during the military era? Do you know how much was stolen and mismanaged in 16 years wasted reign of PDP? Even the 5 years of APC has been thwarted with poor execution of projects ,bad advice and poor planning. When oil was booming in PDP era our resources were wasted. What do you expect when there is oil doom now?Go to our campuses and see lecture halls and classes like market places....A lecturer to 500 students..Is it not shocking? is that a classroom population in USA? A better Nigeria is a collective effort... It may require stepping on toes if necessary. |

Health › Re: Leading Factors Behind Bad Male Genital Smell by ejimatic: 7:02pm On Sep 27, 2019 |
Alexanderrrr: It is famous that if women usually do not pay attention to the care and personal hygiene from the exclusive spot, you will see an unnatural smell. This is also true for guys. If males tend not to look after their genitals on regular occasions, it will also easily create some uncomfortable smell. So exactly what are the factors behind the unnatural smell?
1. Redundant prepuce
When the masculine genitals scent bad, the unnecessary prepuce is often the leading trigger. Therefore, it is important to find the factor to the issue. The most primary and efficient approach to treat thoroughly is always to stop unnecessary prepuce. Only this way are we able to effectively steer clear of the build-up of sebum grime and stench within the foreskin. If t can be found that this redundant prepuce has caused balanitis, it is actually required to treat the soreness before circumcision.
2. Prostate diseases
The main reasons for the prostate ailments are the direct spread of urinary tract contamination, hematogenous distribute of disease focus in other parts of the body, and prostatitis is easily the most common. Sufferers need to go to a professional andrological medical center for examination and symptomatic remedy.
Second of all, Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill invented by Dr. Lee Xiaoping of Wuhan that has won the countrywide patent are extracted of character and possess effective effects of antimicrobial, anti-inflamation related, advertising blood circulation and removing blood stasis, promoting diuresis and relieving stranguria, so it may also effectively deal with prostatitis.
3. Scrotal eczema
Scrotal eczema refers to the signs and symptoms of male scrotalerosion and dampness, and irritation because of spleen deficiency and kidney deficiency, drug allergic reaction, vitamin deficiency, and fungal growth, and it is a masculine-specific skin area condition. Obviously, this may also be the cause of the abnormal male genital odor. In the management of damp scrotal eczema, we must focus on keeping a lighting diet plan, eat less unprocessed and cool meals and seafood, and hot and spicy food. Nevertheless, generally, nearly all scrotal eczema and prostate ailments are related, it is suggested that sufferers with scrotal dampness should actively conduct a prostate exam to determine the certain problem, focus on symptomatic remedy.
4. Balanitis
In the earlier phase of balanitis, you will have dampness, soreness, and swelling in the penile skin area, eliminating and itchiness and fever in the Balanic brain. erosion, Blockage and exudation and even hemorrhage on the inner surface of the foreskin and the Balanic purulent secretion following supplementary infection can be viewed. Therefore, the men's genital odor will not eliminate this possibility.
How can we prevent the poor odor of the male organ? To begin with, we need to focus on hygiene and sanitation each day. If problems permit, we must have a bathtub every single day, and underwear must be changed in time. Right after accomplishing this, if poor smell still is available, individuals should go to the medical center for verifying and analysis, and well-timed treatment is required. . Some men wear one boxer for two weeks unchanged. It must smell definitely...A boxer per day is preferable. . |

IamHeWrites: President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, received the leadership of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, NACCIMA, Igbere TV reports.
Our State House correspondent reports that the delegation, which were drawn from Nigeria and other West African countries, were received at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Speaking on the closure of the Nigerian border, President Buhari said the aim was to put an end to smuggling and dumping of substandard items from other countries into Nigeria.
He lamented the impact of fake drugs and foods on the Nigerian citizens, including how fake electrical items have led to fires in homes and loss of lives and property.
The president said since the border was shut, Nigeria has witnessed a significant drop in the volumes of counterfeit smuggled goods in Nigerian markets.
Buhari, who was conferred with "Grand Patron" of the association by the delegates, equally used the opportunity to thank the NACCIMA for the honour.
Read the full statement posted on his verified Twitter handle, @MBuhari, as obtained by Igbere TV.
Today I met with a delegation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry from Nigeria and West Africa. I assured them of our administration’s readiness to work with them to bring an end to smuggling and the dumping of substandard items in West Africa and on the continent.
It is regrettable there there are traders who simply do not play by the rules; who choose profits over patriotism, and whose selfish practices in perpetrating smuggling and counterfeiting help keep foreign factories working while closing ours.
We have all heard stories about the dangerous and sometimes, fatal impact of fake drugs and foods on our citizens. We have also seen how fake electrical items have led to fires in homes and markets thereby destroying lives and property.
Most of these substandard and illegal items are smuggled through our land borders. After many years of diplomacy and aggressive regulatory oversight which yielded few results, we decided to close our land borders for a limited time to assess the impact of this measure.
Within a few short weeks since the partial border closures began, we are already seeing a decline in the volumes of counterfeit smuggled goods in some of our major markets across the country.
This validates our action as a Government when we insist that the African Continental Free Trade Agreement must not only promote free trade, but legal trade of quality made-in-Africa goods and services.
We will soon finalise the National Action Committee on the implementation of the AfCFTA. We expect the organized private sector to continue to support us in achieving a Free Trade Area that employs Africans to produce high-quality made-in-Africa products.
Let me also thank NACCIMA for the honour done to me with the investiture today as their Grand Patron. I will not let them down. Trade is central to our economy; we are a nation of traders, and have been for centuries. I will ensure that we continue to give the sector full support.
