Yes you can explain that in a cover letter but make an effort first to downloadn chat history.

You have over 100 pictures but you submitted only 4? Hmmm, well select pictures from each visit to Nigeria, wedding/ traditional pictures with family, friends and personal ones. 10 to 15 pictures will do

Justwise is right, EEA family visit visa, is determined under EU immigration laws and may lead to 5 year residence permit within 6 months of arrival in the UK. Therefore you must include every bits of evidences to substantiate the relationship. If you can include the 100 pictures, go ahead. Look for every bits of evidences that shows progress in the relationship from first meeting, to courtship and marriage with time stamps. As he been sending money, gifts etc to you? Include evidences of bank transaction, receipts. You can reapply when you have overwhelming evidences to convince the ECO that relationship is genuine.

Since I have not yet been able to apply for a date on the visa4UK website( July is not open yet and I need a july date) I am not able to go n register on TLS website. Also, one quick question, in the past when I have written an invitation letter for my Mum I was single and lived by myself, so now that I am married does this IV letter have to be written and signed by both I and my Spouse. I dunno if this makes any difference really. Just checking

If the applicant intend to stay with you. Do will need to write letter to ECO briefly describing the relationship between the applicant and you. The purpose of the applicant visit to the U.K. When will the applicant arrive your house, how long will the applicant be staying with you. What activities the applicant intend to carry out while staying with you. Include your telephone number, email address

The applicant will in turn also write a cover letter to ECO explaining the purpose of the visit and address any issues such as reasons previous refusals, or any issues with documents submitted.

I agree with you, let's move on. An applicant has the prerogative to submit whatever documents that will support their application. However, we must not mislead them to believe that certain document that are not mandatory can anywhere be advantageous.

Any advise? i want to know possible solutions, this is mainly for my kids as i do not want to raise their hopes that they are going to Disney world and then have it dashed. PS never travelled before except Ghana which does not count

Ask you stock broker or fund custodian to give you a letter for the ECO. This will cost between N2000-N3000. The letter will basically give a valuation of the stocks. Then write a cover letter to the ECO and explain that you intend to fund the trip from the potential sale of your stocks. If you want to sale the stocks now, you will still need a letter from your stock broker to satisfy the ECO that the fund came from sale of your stocks

I need to know what else will be required for my parents to take with them for their appointment.
I have scanned and sent the following to them by email so they print it out
Bank statements, Invitation to Graduation from Uni, Tenancy agreement/Council Tax, and their filled application form.
On their part they have C of O of their house/land, bank statements, pension card, letter of responsibility from their church.
Do they need pasport photographs? Their appointment is in Ikeja.

I agree with you @dcutey. Let's move on. Opinions and comments on this forums have helped many of us. However we should be able to acknowledged the wealth of experience of the gurus like @Justwise (an administrator and initiator of this thread) when they stepped in to clarify an issue. We all know that the requirements for a visit visa are clearly stated on the UKIV websites. We only came here to get tips on how to package our documents to convince the ECO. In my years of applying for a UK visit visa I have had 2 refusals and 5 approvals since 2011 of which the current is a 5 year visa. So it is reasonable enough for me to be experienced in this matter. Good luck in your application.

That is a healthy balance, which can be explained by your salary if you're a very good saver. However, ensure that there is no unexplainable large deposit in your 6 months bank statement. If there is, point it out to ECO and briefly explain what the lodgement is for - wedding expenses. Good luck.

I have a query pls. My dad applied for a visit visa and biometric was captured on the 4th of may. We got an email saying application not straightforward on the 23rd.
I understand they call sponsors however we've been out of the country but been checking voicemail regularly and no msg from home office.
I'm a very worried reading upthread because we did not submit a bank statement or proof of landed property.
He has an acct but it's not well run, most money we send to him is via his wife, my mum's acct.
Note were sponsoring his trip fully and we wrote a strong covering letter and also addressed the reason he was denied his first application 4 years ago.
What are the chances of success in this instance.

Sponsor letter
Grand children's birth certificates proofing they were born in the uk

Home office is probably carrying out some necessary checks. You just have to wait to see the outcome of your dad application.

Yes you do not need to go with passport photographs. You picture will be captured during biometric.

Contact your bank and request that your card be profile for international transactions. Or open a PayPal account and link your card to PayPal. You can also use Paga as suggested on this forum.

please I need your response on this.. I submitted my visa application on the 23rd of May and got an email on 12 of June (14working days) stating that :

"Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward and we will be unable to decide your application within our customer service targets. We are continuing to work on your application and aim to make a decision as soon as possible."

Please my question is that, how many more days will I still need to wait more?

Does it mean I will wait for another 15 working days or 3weeks or month?

Please who as received such email before and how many days did the decision finally came out?

Hope they won't delay and hold my passport up till July ooh ?

I am kind of bothered Becos I have an appointment with the USA embassy on the 11th of July for my masters program and I will be needing my passport to get my Visa.

Are you using a Naira card to pay? If so look for $/€/£ dorminated card to pay. Or ask someone with such a card to pay on your behalf.

Let's not argue about this, VFS is not the embassy but we were taught and know what the embassy requires because we were the ones who collect the documents from applicants, we worked with the checklist and when they are refused they come back to us to resubmit so you can't tell me we will not be in a good place to know what the embassy wants.


While working some of us employees had tax clearance cards, if one includes it, this helps in making his status as an employee more authentic in case they may be having doubts as payslips can be manipulated but they have a way of verifying the authenticity of a tax card

You've made your point and I've made mine, the OP can chose to pick which one he wants.

If people can manipulate a pay slip, what made you think that a tax clearance card cannot be forged. That is why the new visa system is not interested in seeing your physical documents anymore for a visit visa. The home office rely on scanned copies, since they now have the technology to verify your information.

This is a free forum and everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. @travelland pls read my posts again. I never insinuated that people should not pay tax. My stand is submitting a tax clearance card is optional. Home office can verify from your pay slip that you're paying tax or not. However if you are self employer or claimed to be working without a pay slip, Then the onus is on you to provide evidence of tax payment. Like you said the OP can decide.

Nope payments of tax does not improve any chances of getting a visit visa. There are many tax payers who have violated their term of visa by overstaying. Are they law abiding? Only the ECO knows why an applicant is approved or refused. In 99% of visit visa applications approval is judged on the basis of the applicant to return back to his or her country. The ECO uses the documents you submitted and the purpose for your visit stated in your application form to evaluate your real intentions and make a decision. I have never submitted a tax clearance certificate since 2011 as my tax payment is evident on my pay slip. I currently hold a 5 year visa.

VFS is not UK immigration and cannot influence your application. I repeat the home office knows if you are paying tax from your pay slip. So submission of tax clearance is only required if this is not evidence on the pay slip you submitted. I rest my case.

I submitted a six months statement of account with printing balance of 5m, previous visas like UK, Italy, Qatar, Mexico, Georgia, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and stamps, CAC of my ministry and business, making two CAC, Purpose of visit letter, cover letter, travel history letter, letter to list all my credit accounts with Gtbqnk, photocipes of duplicatebreceipts of my transaction in my rental business, marriage certificate, child birth cert, wedding pix and child church dedication pix, landed documents both for church and personal. Please what are my chances?

Sure you can do that by email. However, the printed application forms are no longer required by the home office. You will need to register your parents on TLS website and book appointment for them to submit their passports and other supporting documents from you, as well as their own supporting document.

Go to where you submitted your application. If your passport is not there then go to British Deputy high commission office on Walter Carington Cresent, Victoria Island. Go with your collection slip.

Okay. The ECO will judge your application majorly on your finances which in turn is tied to your job. So what will be your bank balance when you apply? Prepare a list of places of interest you intends to visit and shop.

Ask you bank to profile your card for international transaction. Or open other payment channels like PayPal and Paga.com.

This is a bit complicated. To visit him in the U.K., you must shows solid proofs of enduring relationship with him. To settle with him in the US you must marry him. Proving spousal relationship is very hard as the home office will expect you describe in details everything about relationship, etc. I will advise you conclude on the marriage aspect first before thinking of applying either to the US or U.K.
