No the home office will not consider this regardless of the bank stamping your passport. What you do with your PTA is your business.

My passport is used to buy PTA in the bank but am not traveling to anywhere at the moment but I want to apply to the UK embassy in Nigeria. When the PTA of $4000 was bought my passport was stamped in the bank that I bought PTA. My question is this. Hope the UK embassy will not ask me question about the PTA stamp from my bank. I mean if they won't refuse my application based on that because I did not travel. Bear in mind that I don't have any visa available on my passport at the moment. Again the account I want to present to the UK is different from the account I used to buy PTA. I am a salary earner earning 220k after tax. Thanks for your time.

Which country visa and return ticket did you use to buy the PTA and when was this transaction?

It does not matter if you can speak English or not. I does not matter if you are working or not. Your application will be considered under European immigration laws. You only need to proof relationship with your husband. In fact a verified marriage certificate is sufficient. However your husband and you may be requests to attend an interview to establish this relationship.

Family permit. Your husband is an EU Citizen, thus your application will be treated under European immigration laws. Application fee is free, but you will need to submit documentation to proof the relationship. Family permit is just a permit that allows you to enter the UK to join your husband or accompany him to the UK. The permit is for 6 months. If you plan to settle in the UK, you must apply for a resident permit before the family permit expires. Settlement visa is different very expensive and need to be sponsored.

Hi Just stumble on this thread. This is educative and provides good experiences on what to expect at US POE. This is my POE experience in DTW Detriot in November 2016. I was travelling on KLM return from Birmingham to Pittsburgh with my wife. However, in my dropped-box renewal form, I have filled Atlanta as my final destination as I was also attending a conference there for 10 days.

POE: Your passports please
Me: Here it's (Handing him my passport and that of wife. Note my wife passport is British)
POE: Where are you going to?
Me: Pittsburgh and Atlanta
POE: How long are you staying?
Me:21 days
POE: Looked at us, looked at my passport and asked what will you be doing for 21 days when you stated you will be staying for 10 days.
Me: Yes, but my wife is visiting her friend in Pittsburgh as such I have extended my stay so that we can come back together
POE: How much dollars cash do you have with you
Me: About $4000
POE: Called another POE after stamping my passport in 6 months, handed my passport and that of my wife to this POE, who then asked us to follow him and retrieved our luggage.

2ndPOE: You said you have $4000 cash with you
Me: Yes, about that amount
2ndPOE: Okay, (POE must have suspected that I hiding something, they searched our bags), please can you bring out all the currency with you
Me: I bought out the $4000 plus other currencies I had with me, in Euro, British pounds, and Naira. 2ndPOE counted the money converted into $$$ and whao it was more than $10000
2ndPOE: You have over $10000 here and you said $4000
Me: Yes, the first POE only wanted to know about $$$
2ndPOE: You should declare all money not $$$ alone.
Me: Okay sorry, I didn't know
2ndPOE: checked my passport again, then said, okay I will allow you to go. But you need to complete the custom form. You can bring in a million dollars so far that you declare it to custom. You are lucky that I am happy today or I will have seized this money.
Me: Apologised again. Wrote my name on the currency declaration form, signed and return to POE
2ndPOE: Do you have anything to ask me?
Me: Nothing for now and we left to catch our connecting flight to Pittsburgh.

Lesson one, Be ready to declare your cash in any currency if is over $10000 or carry cash less than that. I was thinking that the amount with me although in different currencies will not add up to $10000. however, it was over $10000 buy $200. The POE actually converted even my naira to $$$. Lesson two, stick to your travel plan as filled in the form as much as possible. I was confident that having been going to the US since 2008 for this particular conference that POE will over looked my change in travel plan, as this is not the first time I have changed travel plan to the US. I believed that the POE must have been worried that I travelled with my wife from the UK and not from Lagos as filled in my form and returning back to the UK and carry up to $4000 cash for a 21 days visit. Finally, I also think the POE over-looked my breaking the US law, because of my extensive travel history and having satisfied himself that I was not trying to undeclared the cash, maybe I was naive and I have not stayed in the US beyond 10 days in my previous visits. All in all, I believed it was God's grace, favour and mercies that saw us through that day, as the other POE (a female) was saying that we are lucky, that his colleague is usually not nice to people. The POE actually helped us to declare it.

Yes he has several valid visas but is about to renew his 2 year visa. We thought applying with family friend at the same time will aid the application.

Every other person traveling have uk citizenship, I and children. So only hubby and family member need visa.

How do u prove relationship? There's no documentation other than pictures (family gatherings over the years etc)

He has all other evidences bank statements and so on.

The UK does not renew a visa. Every application is treated on its own merit based on the present circumstances of the applicant. The only advantage your hubby has is that he's married to a UK Citizen and both lives outside the UK. Sure your hubby applying together with family friend will aid the application. However, that does not take the fact that all necessary documents need to be submitted to support your hubby and family friend application. You can swear an affidavit at a court to show proof of relationship as a family friend or God mother. Photos of family gathering over the years is good. ECO means entry clearance officer or visa officer who will treat the applications.

I am a U.K. Citizen living in nigeria with hubby who is a 9ja citizen. We have visited U.K. Many times on holiday and longer stays.
We want to invite an elderly friend with us on our next holiday. My hubby mother is late, but this lady is like a 2nd mother and he wants to give her a treat when the whole family goes for summer. She has never travelled before she is 62z
He intends to sponsor the whole journey. He gives her monthly upkeep of 100k ever since his mum passed.

Would there be an issue with him sponsoring her on a visitors visa for 3/4weeks during summer and what docs would he need to provide?

Does your hubby and other family member travelling have valid UK visas? If so then there is no issues as long as your hubby can provide proof the relationship and has sufficient funds to cover the trip. Document required will proof of relationship, applicants proof of employment/retirement/self employed, bank statement etc. You hubby will also supply his bank statement, copy of his passport with valid UK visa/copy of your own UK passport. Your hubby should include a cover note to ECO explaining that he is sponsoring the trip and reason he is traveling with this woman to the UK.

Hello, please I just submitted at the visa office today in abuja and this is my question,

1. in the course of my filling the form, the only question that seems as a tie to me is the spousal question which I filled, cos im engaged to her...

2. my class of visa is tier 5 (sponsor) view for work in the UK...
3. I did not provide bank statements because my sponsor is an A RATED to which i am exempted from that, my sponsor stated clearly on the c of s that I will be fully provided accommodation and all expenses in the uk during my 5month

4. the only documents I provided are the ones required on their website, c of s, passport, tb test result, that's all...please I would like to know because overtime here all the visas I'm seeing requires you to fill in tie to home country or bank details which I didnt fill, please am I good to go and what's my assurance of getting this visa based on the documents provided.

PS: I have a previous UK travel history in 2007 and was faithful, spent two weeks.

Sorry dude. If your employer will not approve a vacation or introduce you to an embassy for a visa application. You can draft a letter, but first asked your employer if you should do this as they can denied writing the letter.

The above email is a generic reply. Everyone get this email, whether approved or rejected. The only way to know is for her to go and collect her passport. If she sees/feels is a paper enclosed with her passport in the collection envelope, that is definitely the ECO refusal letter. Successful applicants do not get any paper apart from their passport in the collection envelope.

At 36, you deemed to be an adult and therefore your daddy cannot sponsor your visit even though he is a British Citizen, neither can he register/bring you to the UK as his son since you're over 18 years (https://www.gov.uk/register-british-citizen/children-born-outside-uk). The best he can do is to invite you to visit him. The onus is on you to provide a strong tie to Nigeria that you will return back after your visit. What your daddy can at best send to you for the application are copies of his British passport, utility bills, bank statement and a letter to ECO outlining his relationship to you, why he want you to visit him and offer to provide accommodation during your visit. You will need to provide the other 90% of the document to convince the ECO that you will not overstayed your visit. Being in school could be a strong tie, depending on how you package your application to demonstrate that you will return back to your studies after your visit. This, in turn, will depend on your current level of study, the name of the school, the degree in view, and financial support of your study (scholarship etc?). Your closing bank balance or account statement is irrelevant here since you're a student and your uncle is the one sponsoring your education and the UK trip by inviting you to come along. I suggest that you work more on providing documents on your schooling tie. These will include but not limited to Admission letter, payment of school fees, certified semester results, school academic transcripts, letters of introduction from your school authorities, head of department, dean of school/college, course registration etc.

I applied for my visitors visa on the 17th of March with my husband, got a mail that decision was made on the 5th of April, we got our passports with visas on the 7th of April. Although have had previous UK visas, but I didn't apply from Nigeria at that time. So, when I decided to apply again, this time around with my husband who has never gotten or applied for a UK visa, I searched through the forum and got a handful of information. Below are the list of documents we took to TLS, it was scanned and was given back to us.
1, Standard Application form for 2 of us
2, Hotel confirmation, booked on booking.com
3, Bank statements for me and him, over 2million Naira each, we don't have pay slips!
4) leave letter from our various place of work( both doctors) and letter of employment from our previous and current place of work
6) our medical license to practice plus renewal receipt
7) wedding pictures( photocopies) our purpose of visit is our anniversary
Detailed statement of purpose from both of us, listing the tourist attractions we would be visiting
9) Car Documents
10) Land Survey DOcument of our piece of land, not yet developed
11) marriage certificates
12) Affidavit of change of name
13) previous UK visas
14) photocopies of previous visas
15) Certificate of Ownership of our accommodation ( owned by my dad)
16) my fathers bank statement cos he transferred a dum of 1million Naira to me a month ago, I explained in my SOP, cos I didn't want the VO to hv the impression of a lump sum of money in my account
17 ) sealed it with prayers
In order to make payments for visa, one of our friends who lives in Canada pay with his Card

Congratulations @flawless1988. Even though with your previous UK visa, you still took the time to make a water tight and meticulous visa application for your husband and yourself supported with all the pieces of evidence and documents. I am impressed and I wish other applicants will read your post to know that applying for UK visit visa, need serious preparation, gathering of all necessary documents and prayers. If you are over 18 years, then it will be very difficult to convince the ECO for a visit visa. The only other way is get a student visa to study there.

Your age, social and economic ties will be highly suspicious to ECO as there is nothing strong enough to compel you to return back to Nigeria after your visit.

Sure you can do an affidavit to show your relationship with your uncle. Your uncle should include a cover letter to ECO claiming his responsibility to you as a guardian and why he wants you to accompany him to the UK.

Am a polytechnic student in Nigeria, I've never travelled before and my account is empty. my uncle just completed his online master program in uk university, so he is invited for graduation ceremony in which he only want both of us to attend the ceremony, though he had been to d uk once, he spent one week with his wife & they both came back home. My uncle have a good travel history (USA, France, China), he's working in good company & earning well with a robust account balance. My questions are:
1) what document do I need to submit alongside with my uncle?
2) I & my uncle are not bearing the same surname but he bears same surname with my mom (he is my mom junior brother) and I have been living with him for over 10yrs. What document can I use as a back up for this?
3) what is the chance of getting d visa ( we are spending a week in d uk, meanwhile we also want to visit our inlaw)

Your relationship to your uncle is not a strong proof of a home tie. Your uncle application is likely to be approved as he has a good immigration history to the UK. I am not so sure about yours as it will depend on your age at the time of application. If you're above 18 years, you not a minor, as such the ECO may be worried about your real intention to visit the U.K. with your uncle. Anyway you will need documentation from your school. Admission letter, exam results, course registration, letter from school permitting you to travel outside the country if the school is in session. Documents that support your relationship to your uncle e.g. Photographs, evidences that you are staying with your uncle and that he is your guardian. Good luck.

Though i was privileged last year to have a letter to the canada embassy for study visa but was refused.
Presently, I have my employment letter, pension slip, salary payslip and my tax remitted by my company. Is it advisable i should backdoor drafting the letter of introd on the company letterhead? Am just considering possible embassy background checks or mailback ro my office. Please i will appreciate your input on what to do. Thank you

Without a letter of leave or vacation or introduction letter from your employer. You are likely to be refused. You really need a current proof of employment to satisfies the ECO in this instance.

Pls note Nigerian Naira cards have been disabled from international transactions. You are free to start another application.

You will need to include a detailed iternary of what sight seeing and activities you plan to do in London. If not your application is likely to be refused.

Please I need help I have been trying to pay for my visa fee in the past 5 days now, I had used a US dollar Master card , a Nigerian dollar master card, a UK pound Visa card, but payment has not been successfully with the 3 cards. I get the unsuccessful message your payment is unsuccessful because you have insufficient fund or you have entered an incorrect card details. This message was received on all 3 cards and I have sufficient balance and my cards also details are correct. I even had to call the banks to verify the details again. One of the banks told me there has not been an attempt to use my card, they would have seen it.

Anyone experiencing same issue? I need urgent help to pay my fee, am running out of time and losing appointment dates as well please help.

Since your bank as stated that they have not received any attempt to use your card, then there is something you have not done from your end. I would suggest that you logout from the application form site. Then log in an try again. Refreshing the webpage or using the backward arrow do not work when doing online transactions because of hackers and to prevent fraud. If this does not work. Then register with an online payment processor like paga.com or Paypal.com to make the payment.

u have a letter from you company approving the travel? If u do, that justifies it... even at that, you don't need too much reason! It's visiting and they know your coming Back cuz u would have to get a flight in and out. And they'd probably give u 3 or sth! Whether na exams or to go charge phone, visit na visit!

Plans to visit your company headquarter in the U.K. is not a guarantee that you will be given a visit visa. Your company HQ must send you a letter of invitation specifying the purpose of your visit, acthities you will perform while there including provision of accommodation and sponsorship. Without a clear reason for your visit, you are likely to be refused, even if na Queen invite you.

Yes, brother we share the same view. However, it's not helpful for applicants to think that you only need to have a bank balance of over 1M to get a UK visa.

My passport expires in December this year and I won't be able to apply for the UK visa till like end of April or beginning of May because I'm currently processing my child's passport. I've heard of a six month passport validity but I didn't see anything like that on the U.K. Visa application site.

Six months validity is the standard practice, as your visit visa will be for six months if approved.

You just said it that your application was the fifth,probably you are now holding a 10yrs visa,the success of your last application was hinged on the strength of your previous immigration record...but a first timer with such an account balance WILL COME WITH OUTRIGHT REFUSAL, most of those asking this question here are usually first timer who do not want to put a foot wrong,we have read about people whose only reason for refusal was insufficient balance. abi no be so?

Actually, my current visa is 5 years. What actually helped my application was in the last 5 years that I have been visiting the UK, I have never stayed more than 10 days per visit. Last year alone, I went in and out of the UK 4 times, and I did not spend up to 10 days cumulatively. My first UK visit application in 2007 was refused and the reason was not due to insufficient balance but that I did not provide sufficient documentation to support the bank balance. My second refusal in 2011 was that I did not provide evidence that my trip was been sponsored. So what matter most is to show that you have sufficient fund to cover your visit and that these funds are available to you (even if you are not sponsoring yourself). If you read the refusal letters posted on naira land that are due to bank statements balances. The ECO will say 'I am not convinced that this funds will be available to you'. Most first timers are likely to be refused as they failed to go through this wonderful thread on naira land for tips, and believed, that, what the ECO is more interested in is seeing a big bank account balance, rather than proving a strong social and economic ties to home country.

Would have but appointment is tmrw. My certificate has my PEN RSA account number. I feel it's just to show I pay pension as my pay slip indicates monthly deductions or I should just ignore add that.

You can always reschedule your appointment and prepare well. The ECO will be interested to see your saving retirement balance? However, if you do not feel strongly about it. You can go ahead to keep your appointment.
