No. Salary can also be paid by cash. However, this must be explained to the ECO.

You can have as many salaried job as permitted by Nigerian laws. All that you need is to show proofs (payslips, letter of introduction from employee)

This is actually the problem. I don't use my salary account for anything. no other deposit entered that account. I use my savings account for my side business. both accounts are separated and it's clear. the first application I quoted my salary as 100,070, this is what is paid into my account monthly. I submitted my salary account statement plus my savings account but they questioned it. since I had a side business, this time, I added monthly income from the business to my salary hence the 200,070. this is what I filled in the section they asked "what is total income from all source of employment", I also added a covering letter explaining this. I submitted receipts from my side business.

in December,from my salary account, I loan my sister about 200k for her rent because of delay in her salary payment and that of her husband, this they paid back a week later. is this now counted against me? I even explained it in the covering letter which obviously was not read

my question is this, is it compulsory that salary be paid by cheque or transfer from company account? where I work, most of our business money comes in cash, and some of the staffs prefer cash payment which actually saves the company bank charges. I actually insisted along with top staff that our salary be paid into our account for documentation. now they are questioning this

I have a conference to attend in South Africa in April, what impact will this have on my passport .

Good since you are visiting South Africa, that will count as good immigration history. You then reapply. Like I said replying again now will result in another refusal.

@Isoken2000. I guess this is a case of not really addressing the issue raised in your first refusal. For instance, you know that your salary is 100K but you declared it to be 200K in your second application why? The ECO is also right to have queried the cash deposit which you also claimed it as salary. There are a lot of inconsistency in your application form, as such the ECO sees you as desperate and hence the refusal. If you do not have any immigration history, try visiting some other country before trying again. My advice to you is to plan your UK travel when you have cleaned your bank account of these cash deposit after 6 months. Then you will have better salary bank statement to submit. Secondly, do not use your salary account for your side business anymore. Ensure that all side business is paid into another bank account and keep the receipts as references.

I applied for UK visiting visa in February after I was refused December last year, I got my passport back today and was refused visa. again it's the same excuse of not sure the money in the account is mine. last time the ECO stated I had unexplained deposits in one of my accounts. this time I added a covering letter to my application clarifying the deposit in relation to my baking and decoration I do on the side in addition to my salary. I submitted receipts/invoice for this. from the look of this, no reference was made to this which goes to show that the ECO didn't even read the covering letter.

This is my 2nd refusal in 3month. what do I do now.

I applied for UK visiting visa on the 10th of February 2017, I received a mail from Sheffield that my application has been received. since I didn't receive any other mail. I just got a mail now saying my application has been assessed and my passport has been returned to me. below is a copy of the letter received

You're welcome. Just ensure that your budget for trip does not exceed what you have in bank balance. In fact use only have of the amount. This will convince the ECO that you're not coming back to starve.

Thank you @ekpotek. I actually had an intention of using it to 'beef up' my account. This is because am being owed salary in arrears( 6mths). But I have up to 600k (excluding the loan amount)in account and felt it might not be enough. A friend of mine is inviting me, thus reducing my budget to ticket and transportation.

However I have a joint business with a friend but we are not collecting salary. How best can explained the use of such fund for visa purpose.

Is the business registered? Do you have tax clearance certificate? You can included your business documents to demonstrate ties to home country.

If you have a host inviting you. 600K is sufficient to cover airticket and local transports. All you need to do is enclose a note in your application to ECO to explain that the lump sum in your bank statement is a car loan facility from your work place that you are entitled to. Provide detail itinerary of your trip and mention to the ECO that you will staying with a friend supported by invitation letter, council bill, copy of host passport etc. Let your budget for the trip not exceed N600K.

Receipts, invoices, purchase order, delivery notes. etc to show that you are earning additional income for artworks and point the ECO to where these payment are reflected in your bank statements.

My bank statement reflects my salary and money have saved up after each months spending. My question is for the amount to be stated, will it be appropriate to state the closing balance as my savings and submit the bank statement as the document you talked about.

The ECO would normally expect that you have a separate saving account for savings. Having said that, it will be difficult for you to declare the amount in current bank account as savings, since this can also be regarded as unspent fund. I would suggest that you since your bank account is healthy and good enough to go, you do not need to declared any savings. The ECO will evaluate your income via a vis your monthly expenditure to compute your financial eligibility for a UK visit visa.

Ticket price now is crazy!

I was supposed to visit Nigeria this month but while i was searching for ticket i realised that traveling earlier will save me about £400 and that was what i did and traveled last month.

This is reassuring. I will go ahead to book a ticket for my wife and l to depart on 27 March then.

Hi @Justwise is it advisable to arrive 3-5 days earlier than planned date of arrival. This is due to cost of air ticket which is cheaper if arriving 5 days earlier. Note visa was issued on 1st March 2017. Thanks.

In support of @worry357. I will advise that you deplete your bank account of this fund. Unless you have had intention of using it to beef up your bank balance for the application. You are free to provide multiple bank statements so far you can explain the source of any large lodgement. In this case, this is a car loan and it is unwise to use a loan for tourism.

The question the ECO will consider will be why is your husband not sponsoring you. Anybody can be your sponsor, however, the ECO will consider your presence circumstances in making a decision, regardless of who is your sponsor.

If you're filling the new online form. And if your answer is yes. You will need to enter an amount that represents your savings with documents to support it.

Yes the ECO will consider the 750K as cash lodgement, unless you can provide evidence to the contrary.

Any questions that does not apply to your baby. Enter "not applicable" or state "infant traveling with mother" Under amount requested, leave it blank. When you are booking appointment to submit on teleperformances website, you will be able to link the two applications and submit it as a group application.

Trust you are fine,..I received an email yesterday that my passport is ready for collection,went to pick it up today and got visa denied. Reason for the refusal,is because the money my husband is more than what i earn,it appears i rely on support from relatives outside Nigeria.I do not have incentives to come back. Also,my husband and son are both british citizens. And so,they doubt i will return at the end of the visit. Please find attached the refusal letter. M quite devastated.. What do u make of the reasons? I attached letter from company,shares,land property,son's introduction letter,results,pictures..everything that shows i've got a job and he's schooling.

Hi Eastner. Sorry about your refusal. Me think that ECO feels that your job is not a strong ties for you to return given the fact that your main family (husband and son) are British Citizens. Give it some times and reapply. Put more emphasis on explaining to the ECO why you will not leave your job, and that money being paid into your account is for the upkeep of your son which is obviously the responsibility of his father. If you have share, ask a your stock brooker to give a covering letter on the current values of the share. If this is your first application, don't give up. Sometime the ECO want you to proof that you will return back. Or else go for a spouse/settlement visa instead.

You were visiting your two children who are resident there. You state that you will travel to the UK dor 2 weeks. When asked on the visa application form what you will do in the UK you have stated "I intend visitinf toruist attractions such as the famous and moat talked about Buckingham Palace and other interesting places. Most importantly rest and enjoy the country". You have not given details of what you may wish to see or do on what may be your first visit to the UK and you appear to have no plans for your arrival in the United Kingdom. You have also noy provided satisfactory wvidende of sufficient and available funds to support the visit you propose. In view of the abovr and you apparent lack of preparation for your visit, i am not satisfied of your intentions in wishing to travel to the United Kingdom now.

What could have been the problem @justwise @all

I think from the content of the decision, It will appears that your husband was a bit careless filling the online form. The fact that he has a US visa is not a guarantee that he will get a U.K. visa automatically. If he intend to reapply, he must provide more detail on the purpose of his visit. He can also used the additional information space in the online form to provide a itinerary on where he will visit, as well as a detail budget. Importantly, he should enclose a written note to address the lapses pointed out by the ECO. Note there two online forms available for U.K. visa application. Which form did he filled? The old form request for more details on finances than the new form. While the new forms request for more details on purpose of visit and activities in the U.K.

@Justwise. A big thank you. I collected my passport today with 5 years UK visa. I submitted on the 24 February at Ikeja and got a mail to pick up my passport on 3rd of March. Visa was issued on the 1 March. Visa issued by UKIV01 with a British Deputy High Commissioner stamped behind. Meaning that my application must have been processed at VI even though I got a mail from Sheffield on the 27 February that my application was with them for consideration. I also noticed that the visit visa was not categorised, just c-visit. My previous visit visas use was c-visit-business.

Not necessary. Passport photograph is no longer required for submission anymore.

So here is our scenario. I am British/Nigeria married to my Nigerian Husband for the last 12 years, years we have 4 British children together, we live in Nigeria at the moment.
We are planing to travel as a family for a 2 week visit to the UK in a couple of weeks and and I have worries about my hubby being denied entry at border contol.
We applied for his Visa last year (1st time application), it was immediately granted, my brother who lives in in the UK is our sponsor and host.
Can anyone who has gone to the UK on a family visit visa tell me what questions to anticipate at POE and how best to prepare for it. We are genuine couple with obvious and extensive documentation to prove so. I am also worried about the Immigration officer wondering why I haven't file for the Spouse Visa for him. Just to answer that question, we just really were never interested in living and raising our kids in the UK. We are happy here in Nigeria. So your help, remarks, suggestions are needed. Or should I just bloody stop worrying about nothing?

No problem. Go as a family to the same POE. Try to avoid using the EU line as this will separate you and your husband even if they direct you to EU line as a British Citizen. Stay with your husband and submit all your passports together to the same POE. Everything will be fine. The last time I was with my British/Nigerian wife at POE, the only question they asked me was if my visit was for business or pleasure?

Use a USD/GBP/EUR dominated card to make payment. To get such cards, open a dormicillary account and fund it. Alternatively you can asked someone who has such cards to pay for you and pay him back the equivalent in Naira.

Unless your GTB card is USD/GBP/EUR dorm account, It won't work. All Naira dominated cards have been disabled till further notice. You will need to use other alternatives like online payment company that allows you to fund your account in Naira.

It a wrong impression to believe that you must apply for longer visa duration from you last successful visa. The duration you choose should depend on your need to visit the UK. Having said that, you have no problem if you decide to go for 6 months this time. 5 year U.K. Visa is now £600. Imagine if you are denied. You are free to also apply for your child too. Your application with be considered based on your presence circumstances and previous immigration history as a visitor to the UK.

If you're applying in Lagos. I would suggest Ikeja if you can afford the extra charges. Believe me you will be through in less than 0 mins. This centre before the introduction of extra charge was the preferred centre in Lagos.

After selecting your submission centre, you are require to make online payment using a debit/credit card etc. So you must have this with you in order to complete your application

At Ikeja centre, the queue is short, intact there is no queue at all. From checking of documents to biometric capture took me ess that 10 mins. I guess because of this extra charges applicants are avoiding this centre.
