i'm telling you this is just the truth, everyone in Lagos knew about the traffic that happened yesterday meanwhile they didn't care, they were busy telling me why didn't I get there 4.30am that some people have been there since that time, won't I attend to my hubby and the home, we are at their mercy because we are the ones that need the visa, no be their fault.
Sorry about your ordeals at the US embassy in Lagos. If it was possible I would gladly borrow you my visa, as you have been a blessing on this forum. Just keep faith, for your iinterview would be successful. Cheer.

Wow, this thread is still up and kicking, anyways, good to know.

Meanwhile, @Tayoamos, unlike UK Visa, for the US, you don't have any problem atall for not travelling as earlier scheduled, you however may not even travel with the visa at all before it's expiration and still get it renewed without any hassle but that shouldn't be a norm as a repeat of it may lead to a refusal or delay in the subsequent application.
@ Tayoamos: I concur with FASTLinKs, you have nothing to worry, using the visa for other purposes. Just explain at POE why you could not make your previous trip.

Does anyone know how the UK visa office verifies an applicant's bank statement of accounthuh
Since the bank statement was signed and stamped by your bank. They believe it's genuine. If they are in doubt they will call the bank to verify.

KLM/Airfrance is offering Democracy Day Promo till June 7, 2015. Lagos-London is as low as $782 (N156K) including taxes. Book direct with the airline to enjoy this offer if you have already secured your visa to the UK.

@tayoamos: Which airline and when is your traveling dates?. Sometimes, the fare depends on the connection time. You need to be patient and take your time.

LadyGuinivere wakanow asked me for about 160k to change dates when I was traveling to the uk in april ,my sister I couldn't spare at all I had to squeeze and travel like that and it was really inconvenient.
@Chloe7: I used to patronise travel agents in my earlier traveling days as I did not have information that I have now. All these T/A are there to rip innocent travellers off. I once made a booking on Wakanow in 2012 to UK, paid the money into their bank account only for them to request for my visa page before the can issue me the ticket. They even treathen to cancel my reservation if I don't send my UK visa page on time. Since then I avoided them like a plague. To change date on KLM is $200, Arik is N25000 from Nigeria and £120 from UK. Quarter air is $60. So if you are not sure of your travel dates, but directly with the airline, beside there fare is cheaper compared to those TAs.

Hello my great professors in the house, I have another challenge. Here is my story:
I have a valid USA visa, visited Usa last year august just once where I spent just 6 days.
My wife applied for her visa few days ago and it was approved, she told the vo me and her will be going for a wedding next month and our 2 kids will not be going with us, we didn't even make the kids apply because they will not be going with us
My wife specifically filled in the ds-160 that its me and her that will be travelling together, and during the interview, the vo asked if the two of us will be going together she responded yes
But from the look of things now, fare tickets are expensive, I have decided not to go, while my wife should go alone. She will spend just 5 days too and return back.
My question now is that, at the poe, will the immigration guys not give my wife problem asking that we are supposed to come together and why is she coming alone ? Will they not say my wife lied during her interview to the vo ?
Thanks
Not at all. When my wife and I got our 2 year B1/B2 visa in August 2014, we were supposed to travel together, but I went alone and did not have any problem at POE in Atlanta. Your wife could explained to POE when asked that current exchanges rate of Naira to dollar had made it impossible for her husband to come on this trip and beside it's not an important business trip for him since its just at attend a wedding. I am sure the POE will be happy that She likely to return back based on a strong home ties.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by ekpotek: 6:39pm On May 22, 2015
@LadyGuiniverr have explained it all. I will advise that you used the opportunity of B1/B2 to look for a school, apply on time. Get your admission letter, return to naija and apply for change of visa status to FI. At interview explain to the VO convincingly how your frequent trip to US and visit to some schools, had impressed you and would like to take advantage of American education system to further develop yourself. With a good travel history of in and out of the U.S. the conversion maybe approved. Attempt to do this within the U.S. may not work unless you are ready to face the consequences of breaking US immigration law.

LadyGuinivere:
I agree. Let's look at it logically. U go with a B visa. U are entitled to stay 6 months max. Within that 6 months u apply to a school? The school accepts u? What do u do apply for an F visa before u start school or start school whilst u are runs-ing your visa. Option A is time limited, school waits for no one and oyibo no go gree give you. Clearly n intent to immigrate is shown. B option is illegal and you will mosdef not get the visa afterwards.
Plz like I always say, do the right thing. The one that is straightfoward and pure.
Peace

Good day Everyone,

please I need help on this I want to apply for USA visa for vacation with my family(my 3kids ,6years,4years and 4months baby with hubby) this is our first time of leaving Nigeria, I spoke to my cousin(We bear the same surname but we are both married) in the state married for like 4 years ago, she's a nurse and she has gotten an award from the hospital she work for the best staff of the month and she agreed to send us invitation letter but don't know what to do ,i told her to send the invitation that she will sponsor us as per accommodation and feeding for the 2weeks where planning to stay while we pay for our tickets and shopping plus contingency.

I work and my hubby do to but my salary is way higher than his, although my company will give me an introduction letter to go to embassy with, am going to attach my payslip, cooperative statement that has 800k as balance, marriage cert, my salary statement and that of my hubby. we are saving 700k for trip since we have accommodation and feeding already, do you think it will be enough.

my Question goes like this.

1.what document should I tell her to send to us

2. should she add her statement of account and the hubby

what else should she add to this our document.

N/B: please I know some of the questions has been answered before please don't refer me to them I have a baby that am nursing so I cant read from the beginning to this page .

all I need is a guideline .

God bless you all.
My advise will be be mindful that the VO will asked the following questions
1. Have you travel out of the country as a family before?
2. What do you and your husband do for a living?

So your chances, would be based on your demonstration of a strong home ties (eg leaving 2 of the kids behind). Having a US based sponsor for accommodation and feeding as first timer traveling out Nigeria raises a red flag meaning that you should have enough fund for a vacation in the US without depending on another person for support. In many interviews, the VO hardly check documents, as most of their decision is based on your application forms and interview. My suggestion, visit other European countries with friendly visa processes as a family. If you still want to try, plan to provide enough fund for trip including accommodation and feeding. And be able to justified why the choice the US for a first-time family vacation.

Thank you worry357 and vicjustice for the honest reply. My first reason of refusal was submitting only my salary account with 0 balance as I thought they were only concern that salary was coming in. I did not submit my savings account then. In my second refusal, they found an unexplained deposit in my savings account (which was an honest mistake). I will try to negate this factor by submitting only my salary account this time. My question is, should I explain to the German embassy the reasons for my refusal to the UK? Will it help or will it sound desperate? Many thanks!
.

For Germany Schengen visa, you filled the application online, print it out and book an appointment online to goes submit the application and interview. Your chances, will depend on the purpose of visit to Germany, home ties, letter of invitation, hotel reservations, Bank statement etc. If asked during interview, yes explain the reasons for the refusal, as there is not provision on the Schengen form to state this.

Hello there,

I'm going to apply for tourist Visa next week and here is my scenario.
I'm a student and I will travel with my husband for vacation(who already has B1/B2 Visa and visited USA before)

I just finished my graduation last month and already enrolled into Masters. My masters class will start in October.
Now, on DS-160 form there is a field "Briefly Describe your duties". As a student what can be my duties? I'm really confused here. Can someone please tell me what to write here?

Thank you.
Easy, Just provide brief details on your Master programmes, the course of study, when you started, and when you hope to complete it. Since your husband already has a visa and had used it and return, then you should not have any problem. You should be ready to answer questions on when did you get married, do you have kids etc.

Me and my wife now has valid visas to the USA but in the future if we want to apply for our kids (minor kids) ages 4 and 2, are they going to pass thro the same procedure of ds-160 filling and interview?
I am just asking in case of the future if we want to travel with them later. Already me and their mom has valid visas
Sure you will need to fill separate DS-160 form for them. Accompanying them to the interview with your passport and explain to VO that you and your wife already have valid visa. However, this can only be possible on your next trip to the U.S.

Take a taxi/bus to Oshodi. From Oshodi join another bus going to mile 2 and stop close to Ladipo spare part bus stop. Ask for directions to DHL house. It's just a stone throw from that point.

Hello guys . Good job y'all. So how much exactly can I state as monthly expenses and cost of trip , For someone that has been earning 170k for 7 months and has 600k in a salary account . Please help. Thanks
Here is the math: 170K x 7 months = 1190K. Deduct this from 600K balance that you have will give 590K. Divide this by 7 months amount to monthly expense of 84K. You can split this to how much goes to family members, relatives etc and how much you spend on yourself. However, you are left with monthly disposable income of 86K which is not even enough to buy a return ticket to the UK. You must be able to convince the ECO how you have saved 600K over a period of 7 months in Nigeria on a monthly income is just 170K!! My best advise is to provide other sources of disposable income apart from your salary to stand a chance with your application. I hope this is helpful. Good luck.

@ekpotek, thanx for your response but I've some one who earns less than my disposable income and still got visa with vac cost of 500k. I think the eco is not fair. I agree I might not have provided enough information as to what to do but the same information was provided by the person I know and was given visa.
@donciccio. UK Visa applications are considered on individual basis using the information provided in your application type, visa category and documents submitted. Even in group applications, some are given and other refused. My advise is for you to address the reasons for refusal raised in your last application if you are planing to reapply. Concerning your finances, You can address this by providing additional income sources disposable to you like stocks, properties etc, you can add this to your next application with documentation. Provide a detail list of the places you plan to visit while in the UK and why you choose to visit those places. Above all commit everything in prayer to God. Good luck.

No problem. Just send an email to the embassy quoting your DS160 number, and explaining that you're changing you date of arrival into the US, from June to July as you are unable to get an earlier interview appointment. Print the new hotel reservation, and take it along with you for the interview, in case they may ask.

Hello guys,I'm filling the ds160 form..my brother is inviting me,she's a citizen.there's a section that asks if either of your parents is in d US;my mom is,and she's a green card holder. I don't know if saying yes will have a negative effect on my application, pls make una help..
My advise. Be honest and disclose that your mother is green card holder living in the US. The trouble will be if your mother went to the US on a non-immigrant visa and was helped by your siblings to acquire a green card. This may count against you, as it would be seen that you also want to use the same route. Otherwise you have nothing to fear, so far you can prove that you have a strong tie (Working, properties married, kids etc) in Nigeria during the interview.

Hello my real people in here

Anotha Advice needed plz:

Planning to go to d USA this time. I have travel history; had traveled to india 3 times for business, once to UK(visit), Egypt(study), Kenya(tour) and Ethiopia(transit but stamped in and out). Have 2 unused visas n 2 refusal stamps

Not married. About 780k naira balance in savings acc at the moment.
I own a registered business. Don't know any one in the USA. Now I plan to visit the US for Business tourism/attending an expo; basically I want to go there to interact and make contacts with some companies I had contacted b4 via online, my intention is to make future export business deals with those companies of their products.

My question now is can I just book a hotel reservation in the same city where those companies are (same city where the expo is taking place) use it as my point of contact in USA and tell the VO my intentions even though no official invitation from the companies and do u think my reason for going hold any water since no IV's from those companies. Also d expo is happening in d same city where all d companies are and what I deal in is related with what the companies offer..n d expo

Any piece of Advice on this..Thanks in anticipation
Yes an Hotel Reservation address can be used as point of contact in lieu of IV. Often the ECO don't look at your documents, they usually base their decision on what you filled in DS160 form and your response to their questions and deposition during the interview. Good Luck.

@donciccio, sorry about the outcome. It is clear form the letter, that the ECO does not think that its wise for you to spend 3x your monthly disposable income for just a vacation in the UK. You did not also provide details plans on what you will do while in the UK. You can reapply anytime, but your application will also be processed putting into consideration if you have fully addressed the reasons for your last refusal.

It is so funny when an entry clearance officer says that the total amount available for the tripis 5X your disposable income. Let me explain, salary is 162,000 And you indicate that you spend 60,000 monthly, leaving you with a disposable income of about 100,000. You propose to spend about 550,000 including flight ticket, hotel bills and living expenses. you have been working for over a year o. This guys will take into consideration only one month's disposable income and compare it with what you propose instead of the disposable income that you have saved over the period of time of employment, even when you show them an account where the monies are saved. This is ridiculous.
Not at all, the ECO just wandering how you have been able to saved 550,000 for a vacation, when you have about 100,000 disposable monthly income. Without any details explanations, it is impossible to convince the ECO.

Thank you so much. I actually intend to apply on Tuesday.
.

YES, your personal bank statement is a proof of your financial standing and spending habits, which the ECO will also consider, in evaluating your application even though your company is sponsoring the trip. Failure to include it may not be in your best interest.

Hello gurus. Would appreciate your input on this before I go thru another application. I have decided to reapply for a visit visa this September. Will it be wise if I just submit my salary account statement with enough funds in the last 4 months when in my prior application, I submitted both my salary and savings account? I just dont want the unexplained deposit in my savings account to come up again. Appreciate all your help.
.

I think is still better to submit both account statements, and explain in the additional information page or with a sheet of page address to the ECO, the details of the unexplained deposit noted in the letter of refusal. The ECO will most certainly referred to that letter in considering your next application. It is best to provided details explanation and documentation to address all the reasons stated for your last refusal, if you think the ECO made a mistake in the first place. Withholding information that can help your case is not in the best interest.

@justwise can company do partial sponsorship for conferences of employees abroad?
Do ECO guys understand this is possible in Nigeria?
It is possible for some sponsors to provide partial sponsorship. This will depend on the who is the sponsor (individual or organization). In this case, it is not a good image for a company to provide partial sponsorship for training abroad. The ECO may view it as an act of irresponsibility for a company to send its staff on oversea training on partial sponsorship. If this trip is about self development, my best guess is to be silent on your company providing partial sponsorship, and focus more on demonstrating to the ECO that you have a strong ties at home (Marriage, Job and properties) and you will not breech the UK immigration rule for Visitor visa. @justwise can also shed more light on it.

Bro that is not a mistake, you can't budget for the trip without including those items.
I think it's important for all UK visa applicant to know how to fill the INCOME AND EXPENDITURE part of the application form. Many applicants are refused because of their inconsistency in filling this part. I will try to provide some explanations here:

DO YOU HAVE SAVINGS, PROPERTIES OR OTHER INCOME, FOR EXAMPLE FROM STOCKS AND SHARES? This question is to find out if you have other sources of funds to finance your trip apart from your usual earnings. This could be savings, renting of properties, lands or stocks. If you have any of these sources of funds, then answer YES and provide documents to support your answer. Give estimate what amount this will translate on a monthly basis.

HOW MUCH DO YOU SPEND EACH MONTH ON LIVING COSTS? This question is to find out what is your average monthly expenditure from your current income. For applicants that earn salary, you should be able to estimate how much you spend on living every month. Those that are self employed, can also provide an estimate.

HOW MUCH OF YOUR TOTAL MONTHLY INCOME IS GIVEN TO YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS AND OTHER DEPENDENTS? If you have dependents, such a parents, relations that you cater for, state how much money in GBP you must send to them monthly otherwise fill NOT APPLICABLE.

WHAT IS THE COST TO YOU PERSONALLY OF YOUR TRIP IN GBP(£)? If someone else is fully sponsoring your trip, obviously the cost to you personally is ZERO. In such case, your sponsor must submit documentation, e.g bank statement, and a letter written to UK embassy clearing stating why he/she is sponsoring the trip and any other justification. If the applicant is sponsoring himself, then the applicant must state how much the trip will cost (accommodation, flight ticket, meals, taxi, etc).

THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU HAVE FOR THIS TRIP? The amount you enter here must correspond to "cost to you personally" if you are sponsoring yourself. If there is a sponsor, enter the amount the sponsor will make available to you.

THE COST OF THE AEROPLANE, BOAT OR TRAIN TICKETS. Enter the cost of flight ticket (Return ticket)

THE COST OF YOUR ACCOMMODATION. Enter the cost for accommodation (obtained from the hotel) or zero if staying with someone. Then you must submit documentation from that person, such as tenancy agreement, mortgage document, utility bill and a letter from that person to the embassy stating that they will accommodate you for the period stated in your application.

THE COST OF YOUR LIVING EXPENSES. Enter cost for eg. taxi, bus, shopping etc

IS SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOU PAYING FOR ALL OR A PART OF YOUR TRIP? If you have a full sponsorship or partial sponsorship, then the answer to this question is YES, otherwise enter NO

WHAT IS THE TOTAL AMOUNT IN GBP(£)? Enter the total amount by adding the cost flight ticket, accommodation, living expenses. Ensure that this amount does not exceed the cost you computed for the trip.

Also any amount you enter, you must provide the currency, usually it better to provide the amount in GBP to avoid confusion. If you need to explain any thing else, use the addition information page and/or a sheet to paper. I hope these will answers some the questions applicants have on INCOME AND EXPENDITURE SECTION.

First of all congrats. I think your wife should use MHIS, their advert is on this thread since you have family in Phoenix Arizona. I hear the weather is always warm, lots of najia mums there, lots of shops and flight tickets too are cheap. cost for normal delivery cost about 6.5k give or take (5.4k for delivery, others for tests, paedictricial visits, etc).

Alternatively she can also go to Dallas, there are a few cheap hospitals here. For both choices, she will not spend up to 10k for hospital fees and with family accommodation, she will spend less on transport, feeding, housing and be more relaxed.

So the choice is yours. My hubby felt the same way like you when our baby came after 11years of waiting, so I can understand where you are coming from. And we do love to see husbands coming here to support their wives in this journey. GOD bless you.
Thank you @mamacajah. I appreciate, when the time comes for shopping for doctors etc, I will count on you. Did you delivered your baby in MHIS, which year? Cheers

Hi all the mamas in NL,

I have being following this thread, and it have been very interesting and revealing. Without NL and this thread, I would not have known of the possibilities of giving birth in the USA. My wife and I already have a B1/B2 visa issued last August 2014 which we used it to travel for a vacation in March 2015. She is now pregnant, and I am seriously considering taking her to the USA to deliver, around December 2015 or January 2016. I have two cities in mind: Dallas, TX or Phoenix, AZ as I have family friends there that can help out as I wont be with her until a 2 weeks before delivery. Fortunately, I already have a US bank account which I opened last year November in Dallas during my first visit. The amount in that account is above $3K, which I can easily do a Bank wire to bring it up to $10K. I would be happy to have the necessary information on ideal hospitals, doctors, accommodation cost in these locations. I also read on NL that I need to inform the US embassy in Nigeria of my intention to use the visa for birth in the US. In doing this, do I need to provide information on hospital, doctors correspondence etc. I would be happy to hear from all experienced mamas. Note this is our first after waiting for 6 years, and I am prepared to give my wife the best possible healthcare within my budget. grin grin Thank you.

Dear house,

I was suppose to attend a conference in Liverpool from 16-18 April, 2015. I applied for a UK 2 years visa on 30th March 2015 on a new passport and the visa was issue on the 10th of April, but teleperformance did not return my passport until 17th April, so I missed the conference. I have no immediately plans to visit the UK until September 2015 for another conference. My question is will my waiting till September 2015 have any effect my entry into the UK to attend another conference? Should I just take a short trip now for holidays before the planned visit in September 2015. Note I also have valid US and German Schengen visas on my previous passport.
