@Ileke-IdI: They are all talk, no action. Remember Ojukwu too was like this? "Largest army in black africa", or something to that effect. Got beat up like pinatas, though. |
@Kilode?!: Hah, no I have not. I'll read up on him. |
Let me put it this way. . . the day that Igbos threaten Lagos is the day that your entire race will be put in jeopardy. Not just in Lagos, but in your very heartland. Not trying to frighten you, but that is the reality. If you think Yoruba people hate you now. . . you've not seen anything yet. As things stand now, if Nigeria breaks apart, there will likely be relative peace. But if Lagos is scratched in the process. . . there can only be longstanding enmity and warfare. And in a context like that in which I am at war with you and your people. . . well, you will end up my slaves. Simple as that. |
Lol. All talk, no action. But of course, that is your way. Any time there is wahala in the SW, they flee Lagos like goats. Actions (or lack thereof) speak louder than bold but empty words. |
afam4eva:It is human nature. Everyone is tribalistic. I'm glad that OnlyTruth didn't say Yoruba people are the most tribalistic on Earth, if so I'd say that he has never interacted heavily with Chinese or Jews (not saying this to be racist against them, I admire that they want to keep things in the family.) |
Well that is illegal in Nigeria. Just like it is in the U.S. That is why you have diversity programs in many corporations in the U.S. and affirmative action in some sectors.
Is it really illegal in Nigeria? In any case, there are always ways to get around this, just as there are in the US. |
afam4eva:Yes, agreed. You cannot afford to pass up some brilliant guy who will dramatically improve your business over some mediocre or incompetent co-ethnic. Nobody in their right mind will do that (assuming they want their business to do well.) However, very likely this is the case of a 110 versus a 112. Two guys roughly about the same level, similar qualifications and capability, yet one guy getting the spot due to satisfying certain other soft criteria. It isn't like a 130 versus a 105. |
Interesting new posts. @fstranger1: You probably take the Yale 2:1 guy over the University of Maryland 1st class guy. Dunno how these things translate into GPA and class percentile, but you generally take the person who went to the better school, unless that person has a terrible GPA or the lower-tier school guy is exceedingly brilliant. Regarding tribalism in hiring. . . basically, a private business can hire whoever they like. If it is a Yoruba-owned or controlled business, then it is their prerogative to look to hire Yoruba first before others. Part of that is just natural human tendency. . . if you can hire your cousin to do a job, why give it to an outsider? |
smh @ some of the posters above |
Lol, this is pretty awesome ![]() Not a traditional religionist, but I guess good to see the religion being connected with the 'net. Though, a quick google search turns up plenty of babalawos. . . so this isn't anything new. |
Eko Ile:For us, getting the presidency isn't a must. For ya'll, that appears to be the case. |
Zoning has deleted in paper, but not deleted in mind. Until true democracy reigns, until free and fair AND SAFE elections start, zoning will still be etched in their mind.
Fine and well. But how exactly do you convince others to zone you the presidency in 2015? Who even says that GEJ wants to step down then? 2019 is more realistic. But even then, if zoning is back in force, then why would it be zoned to the SE instead of the north? Where will they get the support from? |
Actually, as a major group. . . . if the country still operates on Zoning, then they ought to demand. If Nigeria was dealing with free and fair election, then you can say that.
Zoning has been broken by GEJ. Tossed out the window. So nobody can demand anything to be zoned to them. |
They are in no position to make demands of anyone. Simple as that. |
Smh. Berom have been turned into Palestinians. Colonized within their own territory. Very sad. |
I'm glad she is so mature about it, very uncommon humility. But. . . why did they drop her? |
As I said elsewhere, the only military or police in Plateau should be UN or AU peacekeepers. And if AU peacekeepers, none from any country that has a significant population of Hausa or Fulani. |
dayokanu:Indeed. First you win in the heartland, then you proceed outside of it. But leaving the heartland insecure and going elsewhere? Recipe for disaster. |
Onlytruth:Which of these SE PDP politicians are actually vulnerable? They very well might ride GEJs popularity to victory themselves. |
dayokanu:I'm fine with that. But minority states imo are up for grabs. In fact, everything is up for grabs. . . if the Kanuri man prefers ACN to the ANPP, who am I to deny him? Again, may the best man win. I know who will do best if everything is up for grabs. |
Onlytruth:They rigged in the SW too. . . yet the ACN has Lagos, Ekiti, Osun, Ondo through its alliance with Mimiko, Edo. And they might grab two more this next cycle ![]() Those who can, do. Those who cannot, find excuses (e.g. rigging) ![]() |
Over my dead body. ACN will not get past Bayelsa State. Akwa Ibom state is a state that I hold dear due to my Ibibio roots. The Ibibio/Efik/Annang are more aligned with the Igbo than the Yoruba so keep on dreaming.
![]() Well, best to let the people of that state decide, no? You certainly aren't in a position to decide for them ![]() Onlytruth:You are welcome to try. Let the best man win. Though of course, one wonders why APGA is not yet able to win its own region, not to talk of others ![]() |
jason123:I think focusing on minority states in the middle belt and SS makes more sense and would lead to better results. Akwa Ibom for example as ACN would be pretty cool. |
Wow. Link to original article? A table with outflows/GDP would also be useful. |
If Igbo leaders were all as perceptive as Abagworo, I suspect Igboland would be far better off. Or maybe many of them are, but they've been bought off. |
Onlytruth:In other words, hope that GEJ and the PDP completely change if (well, when) he wins? Why would he change, if he already has you in his pocket and you have no backup plan? |
So, what exactly is this wholehearted support of the PDP and GEJ going to actually buy you? @Abagworo paints a very disturbing picture. What did your leaders negotiate in return for their support? |
Proly when it is all said and done, they'll get to keep the senate presidency. But it cracks me up that they'll have to cry and beg for what ordinarily should be theirs ![]() This Nigeria. . . still I dey laugh ![]() |
Onlytruth:What is tribal here? This is simply amusing. Any 3rd party will find it funny. You wholeheartedly support GEJ and the PDP, and yet another who is lukewarm to both will appear to get the benefits. What does tribalism have to do with that? ![]() That GEJ is using you for his own ends and I find this hilarious = tribalism? Sound like one of those black panther types shouting racism for everything. . . |
jason123: ![]() I'm just having good-natured fun. Surely nobody can get offended by some gentle ribbing like this ![]() |
Freewilly:Who said we are anti Dora? That she speaks out against this doesn't mean she (or anyone else in the SE) has power to change it. So why should anyone be against her? She (like the rest of the politicians in the SE) are utterly harmless. One might even call them all politically impotent ![]() No dislike from me. All I have for her is love. . . and lots and lots of laughter ![]() |
It honestly cracks me up. Like, SW people by and large aren't even overwhelmingly PDP. So we get to enjoy our own party (ACN), but also get benefit from the PDP ![]() This Nigeria is a very amusing country sometimes. |
