TheNonce:Rooney has scored 30+ twice since Ronaldo left. I don't get you. It is common sense that we should have kept scoring average of two goals per match and conceding one goal in two matches if our first team players remained fit. We kind of have a first 11 that period, or let's say first 15 that helped us dominant. We played Leicester at away and we were the better team even as injuries had started hitting the team starting from the defence. Our players look average because we have had coaches who played differently from Ferguson's style. SAF get his team sit back and hit on the counter. Rooney, Nani, Welbeck, Chicharito, Young, even Tevez and Ronaldo were not trained to pass. They were trained to run like bees at defence. But Moyes came and said, everyone man to his position. So there was a gap between defence and attack which made us spread too thin on the pitch and created gaps for opposition to operate freely. Gaal came and said pass the ball. This style didn't favour Nani, Di Maria, Chicha, Welbeck, Valencia. Rooney is using his inbuilt top quality player experience to try to adapt. |
TheNonce:You don't understand the argument. If we had carried on the that way, we would surely have scored more goals. We had an almost settled line up. Schweinsteiger paired Schneirderlin or Carrick in midfield. Mata on the right, Herrera or Rooney in the middle, Martial or Rooney in attack and Martial/Depay/Lingard on the left. We were getting the better results, from nowhere we suddenly went top of the league and needing to beat Leicester to be top permanently. Injuries rained us. |
GBR1:1. Beat Liverpool 3-1 Beat Sunderland 3-0 Beat Everton 3-0 Beat Southampton 3-2 Beat West Brom 2-0 And you think these scoreline were not far better than the 1-0, 2-1 we have been praying these days? 2. When our players became fit, we went from outside top four to the top of the table and only needed to beat Leicester the next week to stay permanently on top. If our players were fit, particularly Valencia and Jones, we would have continued the run. 3. When Darmain performed poorly against Tadic, he was substituted at half time in the match against Southampton, then our game became steady. From there Valencia became our first choice right back. Although Darmain has had many appearances due to injuries to either/both Valencia and Rojo. 3. Depay did not start against Everton, West Brom, Man City, West Ham, Leicester and Crystal Palace matches in that short period. That is about 6 of 11 league matches where Depay did not start and you said he was regular You no know ball. abeg I wan sleep. Park well. |
GBR1:Why are you acting confused? 1. I told you we scored plenty goals when everyone was fit. That is why I gave you fixtures from mid September to November. 2. When considered that we fought our way from lower positions when we had injuries, to the top of the league when we had fit defenders, then we could have gone to win the league if everyone stayed fit. 3. We recovered the gap between us and Leicester, City, Arsenal and West Ham within a short time when we had fit players, we close the gap and overtook everyone. If we had Jones and Valencia we should have beaten Leicester to go top permanently the next week. Even during Ferguson, we always came from behind to go top around Christmas. Injuries and trimmed squad ruined it. 4. Darmian and Mephis were not regular that period. Mephis was sent to the bench by Marital as Rooney took top 9. Valencia went to right back, although Darmain had occasional appearances on the left. It was against Southampton Darmian lost his position to Valencia. The only time Damian played on the right was when Valencia was not available for selection. Mephis started some games when Rooney played as number 10, but once Rooney played 9, Mephis was sent to the bench. However, no matter the arrangement of players, there is no disputing the fact that we got our best results that period. |
^^^ I counted 24 goals in 12 matches and this guy said we were poor in scoring. |
GBR1: We were top of the league on November 21 after beating Watford. After all the outstanding matches were played, only Leicester were able to overtake us. So we were second. Considering the gap we covered at the time from lower position we instally occupied, we were destined for favorite to win the league. Our next opponent was Leicester away, Rojo, Valencia and Jones had suffered injuries in three successive matches just before that game. Valencia in 0-0 draw with City, Jones in 2-1 over Watford. Valencia was our best player against City, and Jones absence was immediately felt when he left the pitch against Watford. Against Leceister, Vardy went to play on the side of Blind. Once Blind went to take corner kick, Vardy capitalised and scored from a counter. Something that wouldn't have been possible if we had Valencia in right back instead of McNair. If we had beaten Leicester, we would have been top. We played better but we were weakened by returning Blind who didn't have pace to match and inexperienced McNair. After the Leicester game we went 5 matches without winning a match. We drew West Ham Lost to Bournemout Lost to Norwich Lost to Stoke Drew struggling Chelsea We took 2 points out of 15. This was when Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Rooney got injured. Then Schweinsteiger and Young soon joined. Also, ehen we went to the top of the league, Mephis and Darmain were not regular. Valencia was our right back while Martial was sent to left wing on Rooney's return from two match absence due to injury. Rooney missed one UCL game and one league match, then Martial played 9 while Mephis played 11. But on his return, Mephis was dropped, also Blind was dropped for Phil Jones. -How do you mean we were scoring just a goal per match. Look at out form on the attached screenshot. Also, Rooney had hit form in the second half of the season scoring or/and assisting in every match for about 8*matches before he went out completely. If not for the injury he surely would have continued in that form. And we were getting results that period too, even as we were still without our key defenders.

chrisley024:But we were once top of the league after playing our most difficult fixtures. I remember Odunharry previewing our remaining fixtures up to new year and said we should be able to take at least 13 points out of 15. Some said it should be 15/15. Our attack looked not sharp but we scored more goals that period. We even won some matches 3-0, like against Everton. |
GBR1:We fought ourselves to top of the league the only time we have about 90% players fit. We started the season with some injuries, but when everyone came back (except Shaw) we went to the top. We had played the top teams at the time, we were looking to win all our matches in December (easy fixtures) when injuries hit the team. No thanks to Gaal who ensured we prosecuted the league with fewest first team players. We fell back on such players who were not psychologically ready for first team war, Love, Jackson, Pereira, Wilson, McNair. We supplemented these kids with players who ordinary should be in our bench, Darmian, Lingard, Mephis. We lost easy matches in December and January. That was it. |
TheNonce:National team is not club. Going into the 2014 world cup, Sturridge, Welbeck, Sterling, were the informed forwards, but Rooney had a better world cup than all of them. All the time England looked like scoring had Rooney making an attempt or providing the pass. Before the world cup, some said Rooney should be dropped. After the world cup, England rally round Rooney. Again, if Sturridge is in form, he will bench Kane and Vardy. Sturridge can reach a world class goal scoring form when in his element. I know Welbeck is out, but the fact remains that he is the only England player who can push attack when the opposition has the far upper hand. His ability to carry the ball a long distance, his retracting ability, his duels prowess gives him some uniqueness over Kane, Rooney, Sterling, Vardy and Ali. |
diggz:Luke Shaw gives us height and also a good header of the ball. With him we have at least two good headers in our defence. If we play Jones, we have three. |
I ran into some Arsenal fans, I heard them saying United would have beaten West Ham comfortably if Fellaini was available. They said United lost the match to aerial battle and physical battle. I think when we are buying players again, height and ability to jump, head, run, should be considered along other qualities. Gaal said we have the smallest players in the league. We were very poor in defending and attacking set plays last season. This season is even worse. Few goals from set plays, and many goals conceded from set plays. I remember two matches in almost same period when we conceded very late goals immediately Fellaini was substituted, one of the matches was against Leicester. At the end those needless points dropped came back to hurt us. I have a feeling if we had 80-90% of our senior players fit all the time, we could have won the league. We didn't concede from set play when Luke Shaw was fit and we had almost the whole team fit. |
Rashford among England 26 man provisional squad. He was involved in our two goals against West Ham, I think that's why Roy Hodgson changed his mind after initially ruling him out. Roy was in the stadium that night. I think England will miss Dany Welbeck. He is the only one who play differently in that attack (wing and central attack). Most of the rest can easily lose the ball and have no work rate. |
Odunharry:And we are playing Jackson. Where is Mensah? We are up against another team that plays long balls and we are playing short men. Only Smalling can head the ball in our defence. |
Manchester United are on course to become the first British club to earn more than half a billion pounds in a single year. The team have endured a topsy-turvy season on the field and face an uphill battle to secure Champions League qualification for next season, but off the field the picture is bright. United's third-quarterly financial results released on Friday showed the club expect to earn between £500 million and £510m of revenue in 2016. The club announced record third-quarter revenues of £123.4m, up 29.9 per cent on last year, and commercial revenues rose 37.7 per cent to £65.8m. Broadcasting revenue for the third quarter was £27.8m and matchday revenue came in at £29.8m, with total operating expenses of £102.2m - a 3.2 per cent increase compared to the same quarter last year. Morgan Schneiderlin has been omitted from France's Euro 2016 squad in the latest setback to the Manchester United midfielder. Schneiderlin played in France' last five final matches last year but was excluded from coach Didier Deschamps' party for the March friendlies against the Netherlands and Russia. Schneiderlin returned to the United starting line-up at West Ham on Tuesday night but endured a poor first-half and was substituted at the interval for Michael Carrick. Schneiderlin admitted earlier this week he was not happy with his first season at United and was fearful of missing out on a Euros squad berth. “It would a lie to say that I am 100 per cent optimistic. When I signed at Manchester, I wanted to play all the matches, be involved all the time, so I am not totally satisfied. I am not dissatisfied, I am not happy – I am in the middle.” he told L'Equipe. youngeagle:Did Buhari not significantly raised the budget? |
TheNonce:What has Frank achieved outside Holland? |
Some earlier report said Mourinho was asked to wait for one more season.
|
TheNonce:I prefer Mourinho. He is someone who has a passion to finish highest. He doesn't need the management or the press to put him under pressure to be a winner. He is self motivated. |
And speaking in Mexico City, where he was coaching a FIFA Legends team against a Mexican All-stars line-up he said: "I don't know. I know nothing about it really. I don't have a club." Mourinho expects that to change soon, though, and he repeated a belief he will be back in management this summer. "In July, I will be back," he said. "So we are in May. May to July is nothing. I keep enjoying my life which I'm doing, keep enjoying my family. But in July I am back." Louis van Gaal has one year to run on his contract and could yet deliver an FA Cup and Champions League qualification this season if results go his way on the final day of the Premier League this weekend. The Dutchman has already been involved in planning for next season, a luxury Mourinho will be denied wherever he ends up. He said: "It's difficult because when you get a new club in this period normally the clubs have already done their work. "I give you an example. I'm not the Chelsea manager, but I organised the Chelsea pre-season in many aspects because I did that 10 months ago. "Clubs have their commercial, marketing departments always involved in everything. When a new manager arrives in May, June it's very difficult to touch in some points, but we know that." www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/10278658/jose-knows-nothing-about-utd |
Jose Mourinho gave the studied impression of being unperturbed by Manchester United’s defeat at West Ham, a result which could herald his appointment as manager at Old Trafford Mourinho, who arrived in Mexico City on Tuesday night to manage a FIFA legends team, said he was flying during the match and only found out the result when he had checked into his hotel. He smiled enigmatically when asked if it would affect his future, saying: "There is plenty of time." [Source: Daily Mail] #MUFC #Mourinho |
ChristineC:For Manchester United, 2015/2016 ended in failure long ago. We have to bring three or four experienced players in the summer. Paul Scholes said one Centre back, a midfielder and a striker. I however think with Jones, Mensah and McNair we should be okay at centre back. Smalling is of age, Jones is close to the age defenders nature. Mensah is proving to be another Zouma. He needs a good manager like Mourinho to bring his game to maturity. Talking about Mourinho, it looks to me he will come. He has confirmed he will resume a new job in July. There is another interview he granted that suggested he had an interest in the West Ham vs United match. But we wait and see. I think we need a right winger, a striker and a midfielder. Rooney is making good passes in midfield, but I prefer midfielders who can run with the ball forward than those who stay in one place and spray passes. It's bad too we didn't test Schneirderlin enough this season to determine his real ability. He never had a solid run of games. |
chrisley024:Chikena!!! My last post on the subject. |
dopeJemi:I noticed it too late. I shouldn’t have joined him in argument. |
Diademk07:That is not correct. Schweinsteiger makes the highest number of passes. But we have about 8 players with higher pass accuracy than Schweinsteiger. Schneirderlin Valencia Mata Carrick Shaw Januzaj Pereira Wilson. Blind with second highest passes per match is 15th in pass accuracy. Stop telling us lies jor.
|
Diademk07:Be sincere, did you pass your JSSCE? Januzaj came on in the second half and still made 100%. Paul Scholes used to have the highest total passes and highest pass accuracy. Would you say because he had more passes than anyone else that was why he was our best passer? |
Diademk07:Is box to box suppose to stay fixed in one position? |
According to Diademko7, number of inaccurate passes (failed) should be looked at to determine how a player can pass, not accuracy. If that is the case, Blind, Mata, Carrick and Valencia are our worst passers this season. Screenshot 1 shows the number of failed short passes (innacurate short passes) Screenshot 2 is for failed long passes.
|
Diademk07:This is the dumbest post I have seen on this thread this year. So someone who made 20 passes and still have four of them failed has some better than someone who contributed 40 accurate passes at same accuracy in same match? You be Olodo. Using your logic, Scholes, Carrick, Valencia, Mata who usually have highest number of passes with highest accuracies are the worst passers in our team. We should rather praise Mephis, Lingard, Falcao, Butner, etc who hardly attempt passes, thereby coming up with least misplaced passes. My friend, the one who gives highest number of passes with best accuracy is the one controlling the game. Forget the number of misplaced passes. |
Diademk07:You don't follow people around. There is a midfield battle. Then there is a defending of the own third. In the midfield battle, you are going to see a box to box midfielder like Ramsey, Yaya Toure come at Carrick. Ramires would even go at central defender. Same with Wilshere if he plays in CM. In defending final third, the two central defenders usually keep the striker between them so that one could be free. But once the attack is going into the box, it's no longer the duty of the DM to continue tracking the opposing number 10 into the box, one of the defenders will take responsibility. There are other time when opponent play two strikers. If the DM keep tracking one of the attacking players, he will never be able to start an attack for his own team by invoving in midfield build up. |
ChristineC:Mensah was very poor against Lukaku. He didn't even make the bench yesterday. That was not a match for babies. Some of these boys need to mature. |
Diademk07:You don't know position. You don't know the modern numbering. Your football knowledge is very crude, hence the difficulty in arguing with you. So in a whole season, Alonso was task to mark Messi in 50 games? Where also did Modric and Di Maria play? You used holding midfield, defensive midfielder and box to box midfield haphazardly. One wouldn't know what you mean, and which position do you think is number 8? Defensive midfielder (DM) is number 4 which Carrick played yesterday. Central midfielder is number 8 who moves box to box, like what Rooney played. Central attacking midfielder is number 10 who plays in the hole behind the striker. A DM is most likely to check the opposing CM or/and AM. Principally he is to check the CM while one of the central defenders check AM while approaching the box. A DM cannot check a DM which is what you suggested in your first post on the issue. Carrick was most likely to face Yaya Toure, Lampard, etc. |
