sinizia:Whoever thinks that Rooney's goal is not the best in Premier League era must be suffering from sight problem, or mere incurable hatred. |
AdeLaNa1:Now I know you really hate Rooney. You write with sentiments and you are highly biased. THE VOTING WAS NOT DONE BY FA. olodo. ............... Awards The awards were divided into 11 categories. Fans could vote for Best Goal, Best Match, Best Save, Best Celebration and Fantasy XI of the 20 Seasons on the Premier League website. A panel selected winners for Best Player, Best Manager, Best Team, Best Season, Best Quote and created a second Fantasy XI Team to compare to the public vote. Nine other goals from eight players were short-listed for the public vote for Best Goal: Matt Le Tissier , Southampton v Newcastle United, 1993–94 Matt Le Tissier, Blackburn Rovers v Southampton , 1994–95 Tony Yeboah , Leeds United v Liverpool, 1995–96 David Beckham , Wimbledon v Manchester United, 1996–97 Eric Cantona, Manchester United v Sunderland, 1996–97 Paolo Di Canio, West Ham United v Wimbledon, 1999–2000 Thierry Henry, Arsenal v Manchester United, 2000–01 Dennis Bergkamp, Newcastle United v Arsenal , 2001–02 Alan Shearer, Newcastle United v Everton, 2002–03 Rooney's goal won with 26% of the public vote, beating Bergkamp's goal against Newcastle into second place with 19%, and Henry's strike for Arsenal against Manchester United into third place with 15%. |
AdeLaNa1:Why you dey sun teeth? Abi na only you no know say Rooney na win the best goal in Premier League Era? His overhead kick against City was awarded the best goal in the EPL history. Even Coogar agreed that Rooney scores great goals. |
BossKratos:Where were you when Rooney scored 34 goals in 2011/2012? Get your records right. Man United has not been settled since 2014, so how do you expect anyone to score 20 goals? Creativity only returned to the team when Martial was moved to the wing. And Rooney scored 7 goals in 9 matches from January 2nd February 13th when he got injured. As for Valencia, he is our best right back at the moment. Our best right back cannot be sold even if you are upgrading on him. He will be a back up. Go back and check the matches Valencia started in the right back. If he were around like even 80% of the season, we would be third. Even SAF used Valencia as a right back almost every time Rafael was injured. And Rafael was always injured, like more than half the season. Even in UCL fixtures, Valencia delivered from there. The only problem with Valencia is his weak aerial ability. But he makes up for that in a number of ways, tackling, pushing the opposition to their own half, fast recovery, good retention of the ball, availability, good first time take down of balls in flight. |
AdeLaNa1:That thing na nonsense. Rooney has the most fantanstic goals in football. He has the best goal in Premier League History. |
sinizia:Friendly matches and qualifier are not same as real tournament, but it was still Rooney who looked like doing anything for England in the last world cup. He had a hand in the only two goals England scored, and hit the woodwork once. When he was away in the third match, the easiest match, Sturridge and the rest could not score. Then the fans earlier said he should be dropped started shouting for his return. You don't follow England matches. How is Kane and Vardy already working? Apart from their match against Germany, what else have they done? Rooney in United has to be determine by Mourinho. Not your biased mind and sentiments. |
BossKratos:Which season are you talking about Rooney? Rooney has scored 34 goals twice, so your argument is dead on arrival. On the second item. Valencia is far better than Darmian. Period. Darmian and Blind are poor defenders. Including Rojo. |
Una no dey watch England matches so I no go follow una argue again. When Rooney was destroying Scotland, giving a great influencial performance against France. When in some instances, his dribbling inside the box helped England win difficult games in the qualifying matches, una no know. Vardy and Kane can never work. It will only make sense if it’s Rooney and Kane, then Vardy comes in. Vardy and Kane play too alike to be able to unlock a tight experienced defence. Rooney and Sterling who have sense to move and look up are England best. Kane and Vardy just run and run, when Netherlands played a deep-lying defence, they (Kane and Vardy) became clueless. They didn’t look like scoring even if the match was to last the whole night. |
GBR1:Do you know England has only lost two matches since Rooney became captain? Those two matches he didnt start. The likes of Kane, Vardy, Lallana and Sturridge couldn't help England. Rooney and Sterling are England best if you follow their games. Rooney has helped England to a tremendous form since being made captain after world cup 2014. They were the only team that got 30 points in their qualifier. Cc. Sinizia. |
lekkie073:Where did Rooney play when England beat France? He was one of the fluid three behind Kane, and he gave a MOTM performance. Where did he play against Italy? He was one of two strikers with Kane. Rooney was a zillion times better than Kane, it was the heroic performance of Buffon and woodwork that stopped Rooney while Kane was never in the party.
|
GBR1:Rubbish. The only time Rooney was injured in the qualifier was when England didn't reach a major tournament since Rooney came on board. That was Euro 2008. |
GBR1:Rubbish. The only time Rooney was injured in the qukaifier was |
GBR1:Rooney scored within 10 minutes on coming on for England the first time since his return from injury. Where Vardy, Kane, etc had scored one goal in 90 minutes, they were seen as gods. But Rooney, the man with nine lives always outliving England strikers since forever, came and scored in just 10 minutes. If he werent selfless, he could have scored two. In the last match, the coach went for 3 strikers all playing in the entire attack as front three. What do you expect? Rooney is England highest goal scorer in the last three or four qualifiers, don't rubbish him. He paired Kane in about 4 to 5 matches and Rooney always outshone Kane, except in one occasion. Let Hodgson do the tactics, not you who have not been following. Although Rooney might be substituted this time around. He is not going to get 90 mins all through. But he is still their king, followed by Sterling. |
BossKratos:If you cannot see what he brings, then I cannot help you. If Valencia were fit, we would have finished top four, if not in third. Our right side of attack comes alive when Valencia is playing on that side, behind Mata or Lingard. Any wonder Valencia, a converted full back benches Darmian, McNair, Varela in that position? So what brings Rooney into this? Any way you are not to decide for Mourinho. |
elrony:It's in many places, but not Skysports though. With Luke Shaw there, I think it's fake. Moreover, if we sell 13, we will need to buy 20. |
Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Ashley Young, Guillermo Varela, Matteo Darmian, Memphis Depay, Luke Shaw, Sergio Romero, Marcus Rojo and Antonio Valencia. I doubt this, with Luke Shaw's name there as one to go on loan. A clear out will be a mistake. We still need: Luke Valencia Varela One of Herrera/Mata. |
Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Memphis Depay lead the candidates, while Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marouane Fellaini, Ashley Young, Michael Carrick, Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero are in danger of being sold. Even Luke Shaw's future at Old Trafford is at risk, with Mourinho understood to be keen on loaning him out after missing nearly a full season with a broken leg. Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian's United futures are thought to be at risk. One player who is not in danger of an exit, though, is David de Gea, with Mourinho desperate to keep hold of the Real Madrid target. m.goal.com/s/en/news/14222/transfer-talk/2016/06/06/24333382/rumours-mourinho-adds-13-players-to-man-utd-transfer-list?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=enfb |
adeyemi2015:Until he starts to play for us. It's a different kind of league he is coming to play where you don't get dribble past only by the likes of Hazard, Sterling, Martial you would also get dribble past by Milner, Navas, Mane, players with plenty of pace. |
adeyemi2015:The difference is in Dribble Past and Clearance. |
Report says we are in for Eric Bertrand Bailly, Villarreal and Ivorian Center bank. |

Maersk Profit Plunges as Oil, Container Units Both Suffer Shipping Industry Sounding the Alarm on Global Growth February 2016 A.P. Moeller-Maersk A/S reported an 84 percent plunge in 2015 profit after its oil unit was hit by lower energy prices and its container division got squeezed between sluggish trade growth and overcapacity. The shares fell the most in almost a year. Maersk said net income was $791 million last year compared with $5.02 billion in 2014. That compares with a median estimate of $3.7 billion in a Bloomberg survey of 16 analysts. The result includes a writedown in the value of Maersk’s oil assets by $2.6 billion, the Copenhagen-based company said. “Given our expectation that the oil price will remain at a low level for a longer period, we have impaired the value of a number of Maersk Oil’s assets,” Chief Executive Officer Nils Smedegaard Andersen said in the statement. “We will continue to strengthen the Group’s position through strong operational performance and growth investments.” Maersk shares dropped as much as 9.4 percent, the most since March 31. The stock traded 8.2 percent lower to 7,495 kroner as of 9:14 am in Copenhagen, bringing this year’s drop to 16 percent. In October, Maersk started cost cut programs for both of its two biggest units to address what analysts have described as a perfect storm for the conglomerate, which historically has found support from positive market conditions for at least one the two divisions. If the Chrysler Building could float, its size would rival that of the Morten Maersk , one of the largest cargo ships ever built. Maersk said Wednesday that 2016’s underlying profit will be “significantly below” last year’s $3.1 billion. That guidance is “weak,” Alexander Koefoed, a credit analyst at Nordea, said in a note. The Maersk Line unit’s profit will also be “significantly below” 2015’s level, which was $1.3 billion, the company said. Maersk Oil will report a loss this year. The unit currently breaks even when oil prices are in a range of $45 to $55 a barrel, Maersk said. Before it's here, it's on the Bloomberg Terminal. Source: blooberg ............... The Danish-based business reported that annual profts had collapsed, falling 84pc after its oil unit was hit by lower energy prices and its container division battles anaemic growth in global trade and overcapacity in the market. "It is worse than in 2008," said Nils Anderson, chief executive, speaking to the Financial Times. "The oil price is as low as its lowest point in 2008-2009 and has stayed there for a long time and doesn't look like going up soon. "Freight rates are lower. The external conditions are much worse but we are better prepared." Maersk posted net income of $791m last year, against $5.02bn in 2014, sending its shares down almost 4pc after the results came in far below the $3.7bn analysts had been expecting. The performance was dragged down by a $2.6bn writedown on the value of Maersk's oil assets. www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/12149539/Maersk-profit-plunges-as-its-oil-and-container-units-both-suffer.html [b]Buhari must be responsible for global financial crisis. China plans to cut 1.8 million coal and steel jobs February 29, 2016 China's workers are starting to feel the pain of the global commodities bust. The Chinese government said Monday it was planning to shed 1.8 million coal and steel jobs in an effort to reduce excess capacity. Some 1.3 million jobs will be lost in the coal sector, and 500,000 in the steel industry. "Although this is a very difficult task, in every respect, it is something that we must actively work to accomplish," said Yin Weimin, China's top human resources and social security official. Yin did not say when the jobs would go. The cuts represent about 20% and 11% of China's coal and steel jobs, respectively, according to IHS Insight. China's slowdown has triggered a rout in global commodities. For years, China pumped up its economy by building infrastructure and factories, fueling huge demand for coal and steel. But the world's second-largest economy is now posting its weakest growth in 25 years, prompting those industries to cut back on investment and jobs around the globe. Now, the layoffs are also hitting China. Chinese companies have been accused of selling unwanted steel on world markets for less than it costs to produce and export, suffocating local rivals. A month ago, Europe slapped anti-dumping tariffs on Chinese steel imports in an attempt to save thousands of jobs. In addition to tackling overcapacity, China's announcement could represent a small step towards reforming its large state-owned companies, which are notorious for inefficiency and wasteful spending. The government in Beijing has described these companies as "zombies" and made cleaning them up one of its priorities -- but so far little obvious action has been taken. It has to tread carefully, however, given a growing number of incidents of labor unrest in recent years. "More aggressive layoffs or more generous compensation would require additional funding," said IHS Insight China economist Brian Jackson. In a move that could ease the pain of the steel and coal cuts, the Chinese government has earmarked 100 billion yuan ($15.3 billion) over the next two years for unemployment relief, offering training and job placement services. money.cnn.com/2016/02/29/news/economy/china-steel-coal-jobs/index.html |
Barclays is dumping Africa after 100 years March 1, 2016 Barclays is going back to basics after posting an annual loss of £394 million ($550 million). The bank has announced plans to scale back heavily in Africa and slash dividend payments as it continues a broader retrenchment designed to boost capital levels. The rethink is being executed by former J.P. Morgan ( ) banker Jes Staley, who became Barclays CEO three months ago . In a statement, Staley said the strategy would build on Barclay's strength in London and New York, the "two financial centers of the world." The bank will have two divisions in future. One will serve U.K. personal and business customers; the second will be a "transatlantic business" focused on international corporate and investment banking. Barclays ( ) has operated in Africa for more than 100 years, and Staley described the decision to sell down its stake in Barclays Africa Group ( ) as "very difficult." He said the move, to be made over two to three years, will allow the bank to reduce headcount by around 40,000 and become a simpler organization. Related: Barclays new CEO made $388,000 in his first month Barclays will also exit its banking businesses in Egypt and Zimbabwe, which are operated separately. It's not clear how quickly Barclays will be able to unload its Africa assets, given slower global growth and the collapse in commodity prices. But Ashish Thakkar, who founded African bank Atlas Mara with ex-Barclays CEO Bob Diamond, signaled his interest. "This is obviously just too big to ignore, we have said in the past we are looking at organic and inorganic growth," Thakkar told CNNMoney. Atlas Mara CEO John Vitalo is another former Barclays banker, and the bank has been buying assets across Africa, including in Mozambique, Zambia and Tanzania. An Atlas Mara source said: "They're seriously looking into this opportunity. It's a no brainer." Related: South Africa's wine industry is booming Diamond left the bank after an interest rate-rigging scandal that cost it billions in fines. He was replaced by Antony Jenkins, who was ousted in July 2015 after just three years. Jenkins had been pushing through a massive overhaul, which included big job cuts. The bank's loss for 2015 was wider than analysts had anticipated. Barclays shares dropped 10% after the announcement. Investors have pushed the stock down by 25% this year, and 35% over the past six months. In another setback, the bank revealed it is cooperating with U.S. investigators who are probing the bank's hiring practices in Asia. The U.S. Department of the and Securities and Exchange Commission is known to be conducting a wider investigation into whether banks hired the children of influential politicians in order to win business. money.cnn.com/2016/03/01/investing/barclays-africa/index.html Blame Buhari for this. |
