I looked at Suarez's stats recently, I think it was in December, I saw that he was being fed in Barcelona. When I went back to his Liverpool stat, there was so much difference. Whoscored look at all these factors. Messi takes the ball and goes past two men before before scoring or Assisting a goal, whoscored will record every effort put into that goal; the distance covered, the two succesful dribbling, the solo effort, etc. But when another gets a tap-in goal, he gets only credit for the goal. On Gomez, whoscored also looks at a number of important stats. Saves vs number of shots, Saves vs point bank Shots, Saves on one vs one situations. Errors leading to goal. I must mention too that the solidity of the defence also determines a goalkeeper's exposure. [/b] |
airmark:Hazard was the best player in EPL last season. They started calling him Ikedia because you guys hyped him beyond his capability. Then Coogar cast a spell on him this season. I praised Hazard so much last season, but I was shocked to run into some Chelsea fans who thought he was better than Neymar. And they were ready to kill for that. Then I knew I had to stop promoting him too. |
airmark:I will respond to you properly later. I must tell you first that Suarez doesn't deserve to be there. I will tell you why when I get home. |
Airmark: This is the comprehensive ratings from your gugurakpa rating website. When I saw the way they rated some players, I laf in pigin. Ukwu!!! The ratings of Blind and William are highly ridiculous. Blind that invited pressure on us with his lack of speed and unnecessary fouls. Not able to make simple aerial clearances. ................... Chelsea Thibaut Courtois - 7 Ensure Chelsea stayed in the game early on thanks to saves from Carrick and Martial Branislav Ivanovic - 6 Didn’t appreciate the dual threat of Martial and Borthwick-Jackson against him. Kurt Zouma - 7 Suffered what seemed to be a bad injury after a solid game at the back. John Terry - 7 Usual committed self, buoyed by a crowd permanently showing their support for the club captain Cesar Azpilicueta - 6 Solid performance from Chelsea's consistent full-back. Nemanja Matic - 5 Subbed off for Pedro and rightly so due to anonymous performance in the middle. Jon Obi Mikel - 6 Broke up play when needed, keeping things tight despite Chelsea looking flawed in other parts of the pitch. Cesc Fabregas – 5 Not able to influence anything in the final third as he flitted in and out of the game. Willian - 5 Not too threatening considering the age of his opponent at left-back, should have made him work harder. Oscar - 5 Doesn’t enjoy it as much out on the left and was hooked early on for Hazard. Diego Costa - 7 Struggled to get in the game early on but kept battling on to score the late equaliser and could have had more. Subs Eden Hazard - 6 Little influence. Gary Cahill – 6 Slotted in fine. Pedro - 6 Spread the play John Terry has said he will leave Chelsea at the end of the season. Credit: PA Man United David De Gea - 7 Not at his busiest but was alert to all danger, producing a great save from Ivanovic. Matteo Darmian - 8 Progressive down the right flank but his crossing never reached a colleague in red. Chris Smalling - 7 Solid and composed against a lethargic Diego Costa. Daley Blind - 8 Read the game well throughout and was able to start United coming out from the back. Cameron Borthwick-Jackson - 8 Not phased by the occasion nor Chelsea’s only player offering pace going forward in Willian. Michael Carrick - 7 The metronome of the team throughout as he instigated attacks and kept things ticking off. Marouane Fellaini - 7 Often found up the field trying to cause havoc with his physical nature but rarely did. Juan Mata - 7 Calmed down proceedings when he needed to on his return to Stamford Bridge, without being a creative threat. Anthony Martial - 6 Dangerous on the ball but needed to find space more often, as he drifted in and out. Jesse Lingard - 7 Took his goal with aplomb thanks to a great first touch and ruthless finish. Wayne Rooney - 6 Struggled to find his place in the game despite supposedly being in form. |
raumdeuter:Thanks for the concern. I still believe we will finish top four. I prefer attacking football, but I don't want us to go the way of Arsenal or Liverpool. I want anything to return us to EPL title immediately. After then we can consider the rest things. |
airmark:Whoscored is the most objective rating, although there could be plus and minus. Whoscored sees what the ordinary eye cannot see. Rooney rated 7.8. When a striker or a goalkeeper rates 7.5 and above, it means he had a good game, particularly if the striker didn't record a goal to boost his rating. You brought gugurakpa ratings from nowhere. I could do the same to suggest Rooney was the MOTM. I decided to stick to established and renowned rating sites. |
raumdeuter:You have solid points, but I desperately want that instant success. Success here also means we are never below top 3, plus one trophy. I would really enjoy such build up to United vs City with further hype of Mourinho and Guardiola rivalry. Poch, AVB, Giggs could mean we will be contesting position with Everton, Spurs and West Ham in the next three seasons. As for recruit, I don't think Costa, Zouma and Matic are below average. At least Matic was a key figure when the won the league. |
raumdeuter:We are capable of holding Mourinho down for at least 5 years. If he is not put under serious pressure with huge target on his neck, he might help develop some players. He will be more patient with such players like Lingard and Borthwith - Jackson. But we can be sure his recruits will lift the team better than the players Moyes and Gaal brought. Bringing Porch is a 50-50 chance for success, we might just end up going round circles. In a nutshell we desperately need to prove we are as big as we claim by winning trophies within the next two seasons, and only Mourinho can guarantee that. After that we can be patient a little while to find another coach to continue should Mourinho quit. Ancelotti replaced him in Madrid, we can get an experienced coach to take over from him again. |
raumdeuter:In this case, I would rather keep Van Gaal. We need a tested coach to take over. Ancelotti is taken. Guardiola is taken. Who else is available? |
raumdeuter:That's my fear, particularly with the players on ground. Half of the players will have to give way. |
raumdeuter:I get confused about Van Gaal. Today I am tired of him, tomorrow I like him again. Mourinho should replace him in case he is sacked. It's too bad a coach of his calibre couldn't prove himself here. This is suppose to be his last job, and he is going to end his career on a low. I wish he could turn it around. |
raumdeuter:No wonder, e no even sabi argue. Make I leave am. |
airmark:Whoscored rated Rooney the Man of the Match. It uses opta stat as its base for Rating. Rooney did more right things in attacking zone than Costa, that was why he had that rating. Rooney doesnt have to stay in the box always. Manchester United is not set up to play like that. Martial doesnt stay in the box while playing as number 9 for us. Our number 9 also involves in build up just like Madrid set up their 9 since Ancelotti's era. Secondly, Rooney's touch for Lingard was a perfect touch. It was intended. Masterstroke! You have not been watching Rooney recently, his touches have been classical. His back hill goal, his back hill flick pass exchange with Martial. All these were deliberate. You are a joke. |
airmark:Rooney gave an Assist, and the game ended 1-1. Rooney's shot on target caused Courtois to dive full length to push the ball into corner kick. Without our slip, Costa would not have scored or contributed to any goal. Awoof goal. According to whoscored, Rooney recorded more key attacking events than Costa. |
airmark:Even Suarez too sometimes makes senseless lobs. And a striker doesn't have to make the best attempts in every match. Ivanovic made the best attempt for Chelsea. |
Spy360:Which coach are you referring to? |
Spy360:What Poch is doing at Tottenham is what David Moyes was doing at Everton. Everything you said about him could be said about Moyes at Everton, except Moyes had a leaner budget. |
airmark:And you refused to see where I mentioned DeGea and Courtois as men of the match. You started an argument over nothing. From a striker must always score, to bla bla bla...... |
Ajax youth coach Ronald de Boer says Juan Mata isn't good enough for Manchester United. He speaks to Van Gaal on a regular basis – but that has not stopped him casting a critical eye over United. He said: “Louis has very few players who can make the difference at United. When I look at Bayern Munich, for example, they have a player in almost every position who really stands out. "Juan Mata is just not good enough to carry the team when it comes to attacking. He is more the type who has to work for the real big players." [Source: Tribal Football] #MUFC #Mata |
Manchester United have been dealt another blow as both Adnan Januzaj and Guillermo Varela suffered injuries while playing for the U21s in a 7-0 win over Norwich. Januzaj suffered what appeared to be a hamstring injury, and although he initially attempted to carry on, the 21-year-old was eventually substituted with 33 minutes gone. And right-back Varela, who has made four appearances for the senior side this term, followed the Belgium international down the tunnel after suffering a muscular injury. Memphis Depay started for United as Louis van Gaal and Ryan Giggs were both in attendance for the match at Old Trafford. Uniteds scorers were W.Keane (5), Pereira, and Fosu-Mensah. Depay made 3 assists. [Source: M.E.N] #MUFC #U21 ................. Too bad. |
Spy360:How is he better than Mourinho? We will be doing 'try your lucky with him' . Going round circles while someone who can guarantee success is waiting. |
patrickmuf:Where is the link to the highlight? Meanwhile, Mephis torn to pieces by fans. Rooney coming to his defence saying other things happened from when Mephis gave the ball away to when we conceded. |
airmark:So how come Rooney has contributed to 9 of our last 11 goals? He had 2 shots on target yesterday. It doesnt matter where he took them. His goals this season are mostly from inside the box. If not that Blind slipped Costa would have ended the match with one shot on target. It meant Ivanovic was more of a goal threat than Costa. Before the slip, Costa took 5 Shots and only 1 on target. So he was even worse shooting to nowhere. |
airmark:So which centre forward scores in every match? William tried there. He borrowed that from Nani. |
chrisley024:Yes, Mourinho cannot spend £250 million and not be contesting for the league or winning trophies in the second season. My only fear is whether he can use these players to play his kind of game. These guys have started playing attractive football. But no be attractive football we go eat. |
As Rooney played yesterday people still dey complain. What would he have done? Must centre forward always score? Rooney CF Assist 1 Chances created 2 Shots 5 Shots on target 2 Dribbles 4 Defensive Clearances 2 He was the one marking Terry in set plays. Terry as we know has a good aerial ability. |
chrisley024:He had the back to the goal in his overhead kick. I have not seen the action a second time, but sometimes in football your body tells you what to do in a fast situation. Rooney did not only beat Ivanovic yesterday, he also dribble other players. At one point he he had gone past Terry and Cahil before Cahil last ditch tackle took away the ball. So don't rubbish his dribbling. Only William (5) had more dribbling than Rooney (4). No other United player had more than 1 dribbling. Martial had only 1 dribbling as recorded by Opta. You will have to completely displace your marker to have a successful dribble. Yes he had another option to have picked Herrera who was coming at the edge of the box, but that can't count as a negative to his game yesterday. We have seen Martial done that selfish play over and over again, yet we forgive him. Even yesterday he had an option of picking Fellaini in the penalty spot area but he aimed for the near post. Even a short to far post could have seen Fellaini or Rooney having a tap in should it be going wide. As for pressing for the ball, we didnt have that issue yesterday. Anyone who pressed for the ball yesterday would have been wasting time and energy. And I dont know how one or two players not pressing for the ball against three or four defenders makes us outnumbered in midfield. Instead we should outnumbere then. |
olabode89:It was so pianful. If only Smalling was the one there. Also at that point I wondered what separated the two centre backs. We need to learn how to organize defence in different situations. In difficult situations, the two centre backs usually stick together while others go for tackles in wide areas. The defence was not kept water tight with right arrangement of men across our own third. |
3. On individual performance. Considering how he has stayed fit, it's hard to tell Blind to go to the bench as a third cover for Jones and Rojo. But at this time we have to do the right things to ensure a strong finish. We need someone who can read and jump to head aerial balls away. Yesterday, Costa stretched to head a corner that fell on Blind. His lack of speed has also meant he puts us under threat every time he runs to contest a long ball to an opposing player. Yesterday he had to resort to foul to save himself against a ball that was originally his. But Blind has a great vision. His passing from defence is second to none. However, that doesn't compensate for his defensive weaknesses which puts us under pressure. Jackson has done very well. His pace has covered so much for Blind on the left side. His combination with Martial makes me think Rojo should not be rushed back to the left back when he returns. He looks up to pick a pass whenever he has the ball. He runs when he is suppose to run, he opens up for a return pass. Most of his forward passes between two defenders wont be seen by Rojo. Darmian is good. He is growing into the games. But his forward play is a great worry. He gets gifted with plenty of space to burst forward into the final third, but he doesn't have the speed. Smalling has been consistent this season and thank God he has been fit. We are so lucky there because he used to go on and off with injuries in the course of a season. Carrick and Fellaini. Except for their defensive liability, these two guys have been okay. Even though I would prefer Schneirdelin given a starting place, Fellaini has made some statements why he could also start. Lingard, I will wait for Valencia to play behind him before I can judge his wing play. His eyes for goals justifies why he is starting. Plus Depay is not serious. Mata, he is playing in his favourite number 10. With a run of games we will be able to see and say more about him. But so far so good. He is helping us in the passing and possession department. Rooney is having a good time now. More shots, better ball retention and good overall play. His reactions are faster now. His league goals+assists in 2016 have equaled his figure for last year 2015. His dribbling is far far better. His ball control too. Let’s just say, he is sharper now. Martial. He is now fully settled. More consistent in doing what he is known for. Could have had a great goal yesterday after dribbling his way through. Playing Jackson behind him appears to give him so much option too. Martial is absolutely magnificent. DDG = Tested and trusted. |
2. However, the team is playing really well now. This makes me think Van Gaal could succeed if allowed a third season. Chelsea might be at the bottom part of the table, but it always a big game between the two. We have to pray our injured players return quickly for the next games, while also praying that no new injuries, particularly to Smalling and Martial. My fear for the next games is our defence. Even when we play against Championship or league 1 teams they scare the hell out of our defence when they manage to get to our own third. Let’s hope the players that will be returning from injuries would give us this stability at the back, because they also have to gain match rythm. Except the injured players return, I would always suspect our ability to go on a winning streak. We need a solid centre back and a good bench. |
weedtaker:1. Much has been said already on why we drew. The first is Van Gaal's poor choice of substitutes to see the game through. Mephis is a defensive liability, I said it to my friends when he came on. Lingard supports the defence better. Mephis is also poor in possession and passing. When marking, he doesn't provide shield to help the next person coming to mark. May be he was brought on to help with counter attacks as we were under pressure. Also, Fellaini was holding the ball for us high up the pitch and he was removed just when he was doing that. Chelsea were having many set plays, so why changed Fellaini? Mata should have been the first to go out, not that he was poor, but because we needed to defend. Schneirdelin for Mata, then change the formation to bkock the midifeld. The coach has not thought our players how to see out a game. If you are the better team, you keep possession. If you are under pressure, you form a two line defence in front of your box. Four/five men in front of the box with another four men in their front. One or two waiting to contest cleared balls. If we did this, the amount of space William had on the left of our defence would have been covered. Instead what we had was pretending to park the bus whereas we were parking small cars which allowed space for penetration. We were not evenly distributed to defend, that was why DDG became MOTM. |
Louis van Gaal was “proud” of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s performance during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday. Borthwick-Jackson registered his 10th senior appearance for the club in the continued absence of injured left-backs Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Ashley Young. Van Gaal admitted it was an "unfortunate" moment for Borthwick-Jackson but praised the youngster's display during his post-match interview with MUTV, when asked about any positives he can dissect. "We continued with our good, attacking football, we have created a lot of chances here at Chelsea. It's a nasty away game, I think, and one that's not so easy. The last few years Manchester United haven't won here so it's not an easy match – and we took the lead with a fantastic goal. A fantastic cross also. Then you can control the game, but in the last quarter we gave it away. "There are many details which are responsible for that. We had a lot of free-kicks around the penalty area against us and we survived. Chelsea have very good set-plays and they have scored a lot from set-plays, so we were well organised. But then we have a goal like that – Daley Blind slipping and Borthwick-Jackson not taking the line of the defence. Costa is not offside because of that.we "It was such a pity because Borthwick-Jackson was playing fantastically and I was very proud of him. It was a superb performance until the last quarter. It’s sad for the fans also. This match you heard only the Manchester United fans and not the Chelsea fans." [Source: manutd.com] #MUFC #LVG ..................... My opinion In absence of Shaw, Jackson should continue our left back. I have fallen in love with his game. He combines well with Martial and has this wicked crossing. |

Then post your pizzakpa ratings where rooney was the motm ahead of de gea , courtois, damian and costa. Most uk media that are known for hyping rooney's performances rated him lowly as i posted. How do you explain gomes as the best keeper on whoscored rating's best 11 so far this season as below or how Suarez could nt make the list. Leave trash for whoscored .
