Harsh as this might sound, i'm glad United failed in UCL group stages. Let's face it, this team is uber useless and dimwitted. If we qualified for UCL we could have done well with the injured players returning. We only got going when Jackson came on today to offer some pace to match Liverpool in the left side. Just imagine if we had Shaw or Rojo playing there. Valencia on the right while Young goes to attack. Young is getting injured too frequently, perhaps due to playing as a defender.

Our game was very poor today because of the sluggishness of our defence on the left side. Coupled with Fellaini playing on the same side in the midfield. If you observed we started the game between but soon retreat due to counter attacks from Liverpool.

if we have to play Fellaini then LVG might one to 4-1-4-1 or 4-1-2-3 formation. Fellaini as one of the pivot midfield player is a ticking bomb. he can't play quick passes and his passing is below par for a pivot midfielder.

If we must play Fellani, we have to get some players around him who could cover up for his flaws and lack of pace. The system must be suitable to cover up for his weaknesses.

Fellaini just watched Henderson pulled away freely into our box. No passion to prevent goal threats.

Blind and Darmian on same side of our defence affected us. As we pushed forward in the early stages, Liverpool tried to exploit that left side of our defence in counter attacks against us. After coming under threats we had to sit deap to prevent counter attacks.

How u see Jones Stone? I saw that match yesterday. He was just there like McNair would.

The only time I paid attention to Jones Stone was England vs France. He played so maturely, like what you would get from a world class defender. But one match can never be enough to judge a defender, and young defenders are largely inconsistent.

So why should anyone be concern if it's not their real naked bodies on display? If it's photoshop, then it's not even a problem.

I am afraid too. Without the players on injury returning, we will not play differently from the way we do now or give superior performances over our opponents. We need a solid defence to give us a good balance. I checked possible return dates for Valencia, Rojo and Phil Jones, it was disappointing.

Valencia won't be returning till end of February. Rojo not until middle of February. Jones hasn't a return date because his is complicated. Before November, the whole world agreed we were very good defensively. Except for Gaal's mistake in starting Blind, Carrick, Darmian and Schweinsteiger all at once against Arsenal, we did well in almost all the other matches.

If Shaw, Valencia and Jones have not been on a long term injury, we would surely have been on top of the league. Even, we didn't notice Blind lack of pace and height when Shaw played beside him because he covered so much for him.

I wonder why we didn't go to buy at least a defender this window. If McNair could even give us 90% of his performance last season, we wouldn't have a problem.

Another problem is that our back up players are too young and lack experience. Those days, Oshea would do a great job in the absence of one or two of our defenders. Put Oshea in full back or DM, you're not going to get past him and he modestly supports attack. Put him in central defence, he will do a job for you, you won't beat him on aerial due or catch him badly positioned.

This is an eye opener. The worst is when you play him beside Schweinsteiger.

Schederline and Schweinsteiger are our best pair for now.

We were 7 men against 3 Newcastle forwards in our box area and we conceded. That is unacceptable. Smalling got confused on where to stay, then he went to stay on attacking side of that guy that scored while he should be on the defensive side. With seven men behind a long ball, there shouldn't have been enough space for an opposition to utilize. This is what opposition had successfully done against us week in week out.

I also wonder if the tactics was to allow the opposition space to utilize the ball while building with the intention of outnumbering them in our defensive area.

With a triangle passing, they left Rooney behind and passed back to Colochini.

We outnumbered them in our box, but they gained the upper hand because we were not organized.

Had their defenders given no space, they would have hoofed it and lost the ball, their midfielders would have been denied the ball and they would retract same with their forwards to close the gap. Coloccini was in our half when he made the pass to Mitrovic that led to their 1st goal.

We need two of our defenders back asap and a good RW if we're to make anything out of this season.

Coloccini was left free to spread passes while Blind that should have done so for us was engaged by their forward. Our lack of a CMF to dictate play also worsened it.

They still had two or three men in front of Rooney. Colochini passed it left and right without us charging the three of them. So we should actually have more men in midfield.
