chrisley024:I saw that too, and it's not the first time. Rooney was always some yards from Newcastle last men when they had the ball making it easier for them to comfortably start a build up, then I wonder if LVG is now too old to read the game. And whether his assistance have any experience. I don't think I will support Giggs to take over. He should learn from one more experienced coach like Mourinho. That draw was so painful. I am beginning to get nervous on how we will end the season. |
A40:It would have been sweet if we won. It's painful to get a draw when we should be climbing the table. |
Conceded 3 goals against a team thst hasn't scored in 7 hours. I just saw the above. |
We should never have allowed that Newcastle player to get into that good crossing position for the final equalizing goal. We were complacent in the build up to the pass that got him there. At 90th minute, no one gets behind your defence when you are leading. We were even in control having throw in after throw-in on the right wing in their final third. All of a sudden I think we had two vs two on our left full back area and they escaped. Horrible! |
tess1:The problem is we had only one defender who could defend aerial threat. We should have at least three. The two centre backs and one full back. It was always hard scoring against us from crossing when we had Brown (RB) and Rio+Vidic. We need to find solution to Blind. I blame Jones and Rojo who keep going on long term injuries. Should we appoint a coach like Mourinho, Blind wouldn't be a central defender. He will be a back up left back. |
We should have long sealed the game. Two clear chances and some half chances. Smalling had a totally off day. Our defending is horrible. From the midfield to defence, we don't do well to frustrate the opposition from finding spaces to us. We have set of tough matches coming up and I wouldn't like Blind to be the one pairing Smalling. But the is the situation we find ourselves because even if Jones and Rojo become fit today, they wouldn't be at their best. We also need Valencia to return to free Young for the right wing. Martial will need to build on his long distance speed. He has great acceleration over a shirt distance but cannot run with great speed over a long distance. After Fellaini picked a yellow, Mark Dean ensured he didn't award any free kick in favour of Fellaini even when he was fouled. That was frustrating. Memphis has to be thought how to tackle and defend a ball. He offers no protection to his full back. When he appears to mark, he ends up even confusing his full back. Lingard and Fellaini should have sealed it. Fellaini nodded the ball to the goalkeeper even though the goal was wide open before him. He keeps stamping the goalkeeper. We played one of our best games without dominating possession. Van Gaal should learn from that. Sometimes too I ask why our midfielders cannot travel with the ball. When Smalling overlaps, he takes the ball past players with ease into final third. But our midfielders cannot do that. |
tess1:He was the center defender pair with Smalling for set plays against us and crosses. Without him, Smalling will be over labored and we would concede more. That's the only thing I saw him do. But those who said Herrera should have stayed missed it. Herrera was poor most part in the second half. He was deservedly pulled out. |
He used to wear expensive black coloured suit trouser on corporate shoes, crisp white shirt and bowed tie that made him looked like a high profile pastor before he changed to this new dress style. |
Dani Alves is still world best number 2. I wished we bought him last season (January). |
Pep Guardiola should prepare himself for "football, football, football" ahead of his move to the Premier League, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. The Bayern Munich coach has already announced he will leave the German giants at the end of the season with the intention of testing himself in the Premier League. There is no shortage of interest in Guardiola's services, with Manchester City favourites to hire the Spaniard, while Manchester United are also rumoured to be in the hunt, with manager Louis van Gaal's future the subject of considerable speculation. Klopp made the move to the Premier League in October - just in time for the Premier League's famously busy winter schedule - and feels Guardiola needs to brace himself for something of a culture shock. The German has learned the hard way just how hectic the fixture list can be in England, with Liverpool still fighting in the FA Cup and Capital One Cup, as well as the Europa League and Premier League. Klopp's Liverpool narrowly avoided an embarrassing defeat against lowly Exeter City in the FA Cup third round on Friday, with a 2-2 draw forcing a replay and yet another match for his injury-ravaged team to cope with. "In Germany, when you tell people about the FA Cup that if you draw you play again they say: 'What?'" Klopp said. "Here you have penalties and extra-time, but only after the second game. That's the thing, the number of games – football, football, football," "With a perfect pre-season you are prepared for a long, long journey. We knew about it, but to feel it is different. "Pep is so experienced, for sure. I'm sure he will buy a few players and have a good team, have 35 players or whatever! "What I can say about here is very positive. It's a great country, great people, the food is much better than everybody said and the weather is not great, like everyone said." Goal.com ...................... Klopp knows already that one needs 35 players to run an EPL season, but Gaal trimmed our team to 22. |
chrisley024:I think it was a clear penalty. The guy had beaten the defender. Without the outstretched hand which removed the ball from the way, the Spurs player was surly bursting into an empty space forward inside of the box. |
Scholes admits he would be left “depressed” if he played for Manchester United in their 1-0 win against Sheffield United in the FA Cup third round. Wayne Rooney’s penalty in injury time spared United’s blushes but Louis van Gaal side struggled once again to create clear-cut chances, while Memphis Depay was sarcastically cheered by the Old Trafford crowd after having a shot at goal. “As players, you have to lift the crowd - we saw Memphis lift the crowd in the 70th minute with a shot, okay it wasn’t on target, but it gets you going, you need to make something happen as a footballer at this club,” Scholes told BT Sport. “People need digging out sometimes, there seems to be an acceptance of bad performance. “I’d have my head in my hands, I’d be depressed, it’d take me two or three days to get over that performance. “What inspires them now? You’ve just seen 90 minutes of boring, defensive. I tried to defend this team for the last two or three weeks, it’s getting more and more difficult to do, every time you come to Old Trafford this is what you see - negative football. You talk about 31 shots in the last two games, they’ve only scored two goals.” http://m.goal.com/s/en/news/780/fa-cup/2016/01/09/19158542/scholes-id-be-depressed-if-i-played-in-that-manchester?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=enfb&utm_referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fm.facebook.com A shot off target is now what lift fans. |
Dadehmola:Hope you aren't insinuating he dived? He did well to recover the ball that wasn't his in the first place. Then he won a deserved penalty. At least let's praise him. He did something out of nothing. We are short of such players. |
Finally, Memphis produced something great. That's what a player like Nani or Young could have produced. |
Memphis is either pushing the ball too far beyond his reach or running into traffic. |
Smalling should not leave Blind alone in the defence. |
What are we doing on the touchline? Is the goal post or 18 box in the touchline? |
There was a time some guys in my area tagged Arsenal 'pass pass' or they will call it 'Arsenal football'. During the time Arsenal played that way passing the ball round opposition eighteen box, I don't think they ever did it this slowly or were ever this terrible. Please we need some speed and directness. |
We waste so much time passing the ball left and right. The opposition regroup before we pass our way into the final third. Shefield United defend deep but attack emass, such that we regain possession we could finish them with direct forward passes. But what do we see, only one man or two forward, the rest passing slowly. Martial made a run but our midfieders were still passing. We have to be more direct. Secondly, without Ashley Young we lack force going forward. We will need Shaw, Val, Young and Rojo before this system can even work. Guys who can carry the ball forward fast. |
chinchum:You're current, and correct. |
raumdeuter:Has any of these won back to back player of the month? |
raumdeuter:I am not here for an argument. I remember sometime you said players who leave EPL hardly make impact. Here we have a squad player ruling Bundesliga. |
raumdeuter:So you can at least respect the EPL now. |
raumdeuter:Is it true that Chicharito has won back to back player of the month in Bundesliga? |
So it's the league one plays in that makes one technical not individual attributes? So what do you say about Paul Scholes, David Beckham who played in Agidigba EPL. And we have Negredo, Yaya Toure, Ballack from Laliga and Bundesliga. |
codedguy1:Do you want to start another argument? Shift to one side. Don't join two unrelated issues. |
codedguy1:You guys misunderstood my call to include a pace and power playing player in our midfield and wings. I always called for the right blend between pace+power and technique+dribbling. The misunderstanding was deliberately caused by Coogar and may be too Dadehmola, to make it look like I wanted a team to look like Cameroun national team. |
lekkie073:January transfer but they didn't do well the first season despite going into a team better than we have now, and playing under Sir Alex Ferguson. We need players to help finish strong this season, and EPL players are most guaranteed to immediately fit in. |
Chrisley024 You can see some of the key stats, there are hundreds more like this used in the algorithm by whoscored. Rooney: 8 shots 3 shots on target 4 blocked shots (those blocked shots were on target) 3 key passes 1 dribble 0 dispossessed (despite playing in the heat zone) 1 dribble 4th best in pass accuracy 3/3 accurate long balls. 3/4 Duels won.
|
chrisley024:It's 3-4-3 Their rating is still the most credible somewhat. Sometimes it's a bit screwed. For instance Rooney rated above Martial. That's because it's done on standard metrics. There are at least 200 items/activities of players it measures based on the set metrics. Goals, Assists, shots, shots on target, dribblings, tackles, Clearances, Duels won, key passes etc. Rooney had 8 shots, three on target. Four were going on target before they were blocked, only 1 off target. He had 3 key passes. He gave another laid pass that didn't lead to a shot due to no fault of his. His accurate passes in the final third were high. Despite playing in a heat zone, only thee players had more accurate passes than Rooney Blind also recorder high rating. This was due to his vision, not necessarily strong at his primary job. He completed 5 long balls. Perhaps most of them went to the final 3rd. Competed 2 dribbles and had one key pass. |
patrickmuf:So where do we find a Vidic or an Evra kind of players this January? Remember too it took Vidic and Evra six months to adapt. But Carrick adapted straight away. Same way we think Mane should adapt if bought. |
chrisley024:You mean you don't recognized the websites? The websites Coogar and Tess1 used to argue against me many times in the past? And you people were clicking likes on his posts. The first one is Whoscored.com which uses info directly from opta. The second chart is also a direct lift from opta. So opta should be shut down? ![]() |
