chrisley024:Running towards the ball would have limited his range to where the goalkeeper was, if at all that were possible given the tightness of action. Rooney first had to drift away from the two defenders. Again the reason I even posted at all was that they said he missed an empty net. Last season we had players who missed empty nets and they were not even shown such hatred. Already done with it. The video is there for individual assessment. |
chrisley024:This is a fallacy. You used past activities to judge a present one. Rooney wasn't slow. He reacted fast. There was no other way. Remember, the ball slipped past under several legs. |
chrisley024:I keep looking at the gif. First Rooney picked his angle well. He aimed at the far post. ln my opinion the defender did well. He read the situation well to block the effort with timely tackle. He saw what Mata was going to do and since we had one man in the box, the defender's prediction was made easy. |
The defender came from his blind side and stop him with a timely tackle. The defender fell from the tackle but ensured his body was on the way and again stuck his foot out when the ball was wobbling between Rooney's feet. The goalkeeper too was never displaced. I just said let me come to see reactions on the match yesterday, I never planned to comment. But what I saw shocked me. People said Rooney missed an an empty net. That was not even a chance as such, sometimes one can be lucky to score from such situations but no blame if it didn't go in. The TV narrow view made it looked like it was a better chance. TV did not show us the defender coming, and did not show that he stuck his leg out. The TV narrowed to Rooney's feet and for sometime we were looking for the ball. The repeat (slow motion) was same the action. But my friends were even more forgiving after the replay. We got to see he took the first shot with his left and got blocked, before his legs were being showed. |
The reason I even post was because people said empty net. What? And it was not even a chance. Sometimes players score from no chance situations but if you don't score there is no problem. That was not a chance at all. Rooney was never free when the ball arrived. There are times one gets lucky from such situations but no one can be blamed from such a miss. Even Rooney does score from impossible situations. Rooney is getting rated low this season because many people are complaining. He put up a very good game last night. He had a contribution in almost all our good moves in the final third. |
AdeLaNa1:He was blocked na. Look at the last defender who came from his blind side to give a timely tackle. He also put a foot on the way even when he fell from the tussle. The goalkeeper was never displaced. |

AdeLaNa1:The TV misled everyone and since it's Wayne they must blame. Go to the link above, download the video and see it from a broader view. |
https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=112070568875440 Go to above link, scroll down on the page you will see the match highlights to download. The supposed Rooney miss is on 3.30 mins. Review it and lets know how that was an empty net. Not even a clear chance. |
darefestus:I will soon be gone again. These kids don't know football and they are very insulting. |
AdeLaNa1:How was that a tap in? Provide gif or you go watch highlight. The TV view didn't show it all. It was never a real chance. |
Which match did they say Rooney missed an empty net? The one I just watched? That was not a clear chance. I download the highlight which showed it from a very broad view. It was not even a chance. Rooney was marked and the goalkeeper was never displaced in my opinion. Coogar pls help with gif. From a good angle that shows everything in that action. I didn't want to post here for a long time, but when I came to read tonight I saw some analysis which lacked any objectivity. Rooney had a good game today. |
chidexxy007:Ashley Young is the only 'defender' on the bench. |
Jones is likely injured again |
Some things are over emphasized. A striker who has more than 30 touches in a game is okay. Rooney is not playing well but the stats they are bringing to ridicule him are ridiculous themselves. Van Persie has once had 11 touches in a game. Rooney had 50 and they said it's bad. Last season RVP averaged 23 passes per 90 minuets played while Falcao averaged 27 per 90 minutes. I also read Falcao was not this bad. That is a lie. Falcao was a falling falling even against feather weight defenders and midfielders. The little I have seen of Falcao this season, he is not any better than when he left us. I saw him in a certain Capital 1 cup, he missed clear cut chances. Couldn't even kick a free kick, he fell down when he was to take a free kick. Criticism should be constructive. |
deramarks:Don't say that o. You don't know what private things are stored on the phones. There might be some secrets/private pictures saved on them. |
missKiffy:The problem might be what private or personal things she has on the phone that might lead to scandals. |
Leyqute:No clarification. Just give it any explanation. We will not be far apart. I wan go somewhere. Later. |
Leyqute:You. |
AdeLaNa1:Elampiro. |
Leyqute:Ekwe Sample. |
Leyqute:Martial has done very well though. CSKA put two players on him. His mistake in the first half was that he aways wanted to single-handedly take them on. He was caught time and time again. Today was a big match and he made it look so easy. If Rooney must always play, I wonder why they can't even rorate positions inside of the match. |
Leyqute:Leave all these tales by moonlight from your dream. Jones was very calm, collective, tidy today. He even had the highest pass accuracy behind Valencia. Always a good interceptor of the ball. He anticipated threats and delt with them decisively. |
dopeJemi:There are times his first dribbling had opened or splitted the defence for a pass, but he goes on to the next dribbling instead of the pass. It was most evident against CSKA. There were two occasions Fellaini was asking for the ball while so free at the edge of the left side of the box. There are some others like that but it is expected as it's not everyone who sees a pass like Giggs or Mata. Giggs running at 200mh will see a pass. |
Leyqute:Na u know. U no sabi watch match. |
SailorXY:Contrary to widely held view here, English Media are the principal Rooney bashers . May be you guys don't read online links. I have not defended Rooney, so why are you sounding this way. Apart from Otamendi and Kompany vs Rooney, I thought they (particular Kompany) did well outside of encounters with Rooney. As for his defensive stuff you mentioned, he cleared a last corner or crossing apart from preventing Otamendi. That was about the last attack on us and both would have resulted in goals. But that is not his duty really. I can't speak bad about Rooney on this thread. It's a lesson I have learnt. So I end my analysis here. Martial was very good but he sometimes over does things and doesn't see a through pass. But he is our best attacking player so we can't blame him for anything. |
2014/2015 Man Utd 3 - 0 Tottenham Liverpool 1 - 2 Man Utd Man Utd 3 - 1 Aston Villa Man Utd 4 - 2 Man City C Palace 1 - 2 Man Utd Man Utd 1 - 1 Arsenal Hull 0 - 0 Man Utd 2015/2016 season Man Utd 3 - 0 Ipswich Man Utd 3 - 0 Sunderland Man Utd 2 - 1 Wolfsburg Everton 0 - 3 Man Utd CSKA Mosc. 1 - 1 Man Utd Man United 0 - 0 Man City # 3 matches highlighted blue = came as substituted. Jones has not lost a game since March 15th. He is unduly target for bashing on this thread. He was away when we lost to Chelsea, Everton and West Brom in three straight matches after we beat City 4-2. |
Leyqute:It was not dangerously. I think the ball was beyond half line and we were not under pressure. Smalling does same every now and then. You have already marked him for over scrutiny. Not your fault, someone planted it on this thread. Jones and Smalling are our best CB pair. We have not lost a game both started in Center back since last season. I am sure that record goes many years back. |
Jones was rated highest on our side. Smalling and Jones are our best CB pairing. The earlier we allow them to develop the better. They have not lost a game together since last season.
|
Leyqute:He had only one wrong pass and it was not in our own third. Smalling does have such too and nobody sees it as a big deal. It was not even entering his fault as the midfielder, I think Herrera was changing position just as the pass was being made. Other than that he was Immaculate in passing even cross country balls to Martial. Cleared so perfectly aerial ball with his left foot inside the box. You guys mark so players for over scrutiny while others are easily let off the hook. |
Leyqute:4. P. Jones Excellent reading of the game in defence, never allowing Bony a sniff at goal. Never put a foot wrong at the back. |
Leyqute:He made no mistake. Which mistake was that? Jones was the one who cleared all balls that went past our defence. He killed all the one vs one. He block a ball that was going in. That was after we carelessly lost possession in midfield and Jones was the last man against Sterling. sterling tried to turn Jones but Jones managed to stand and went back to block the shot. Even if Sterling had scored from there, Jones wouldn't get the blame. It's a suicide to allow Sterling to come at full speed against the last defender one vs one. |
