as long as players are not carrying cement in training (apology to raumdeuter) united players are lazy.
Fergie doesnt need that to produce winners but woe betide you if you missed or came late to the supposed lazy training.

Does Evra and Rafael look like players who carry cement? We are talking about training that makes you smart, agile, jump high, run fast, turn swift, last long minutes.

Even Barca and Madrid do lose matches. Same with BAYERN.

I know what I am saying. I have already addressed this. Those days, United would lose and you will say we were unlucky because we dominated completely. Or you say, it was a bad day. You can be sure we will win the next set of matches. From 2012/13, we will win and still express our dissatisfaction about the performance.

In 2007/8, teams had no options than to park the bus against us, then eventually they fell to pressure and we got slim wins. If we were winning 1-0 at 60 minutes, it would almost be certain it was wrapped up. When oppositions take over possession, the way JS Park, Rooney, Tevez will commence their chase, they will almost voluntarily surrender the ball. cheesy

How many players retired? As far as i know it's only Scholes that retired then. Giggs was still a player-assistant coach. Vidic and Evra moved for their personal reasons.
.
How many are still around? You didnt get the logic. Anderson, Nani, Cleverley, etc. Even the ones still around, everyone is shouting, bench them, bench them. Sell them bring new ones.

tess1:
I can even tell you that the whole team was over-trained by Moyes and this affected a lot of younger players.
Moyes is long gone. Gaal has been around for a year plus now. Gaal is not even interested in such players like Nani, Rafael, Evans, Celverley. I doubt if he even wants Chicharito. You see these players just got weak.

You are only interested in prolonging this. Your points are aimless.

Changing of assistant coach doesn't necessarily means that SAF will then will change his training system/methods. The new assistant coach will still have to plan his coaching sessions according to the cub's established standards.

Not dominating games wasn't training method's problem. Rather, it was a personnel problem. It was the usual midfield problem that's still affecting the club till today. The players who were supposed to take over from Scholes didn't live up to expectations.

I could remember at the start of the 2010/11 season when Ando and Cleverly were on fire before they faced some injury crises, this issue of not dominating wasn't there.
What now happened to Anderson and Cleverley?

you claimed Juventus got to the final of the ucl by training very hard. (I dont know of any club in Europe that has soft training sessions) and wrote us off by proclaiming us lazy.

if you cannot answer why a club won the league easily despite your assertion that they were being pampered and spoiled then you have nothing to say im sorry.
Four years after Mourniho left, Lampard, Terry, Mikel, Ashley Cole, Drogba, Maluoda, were beating all the teams in Europe and won the Champions league.

Two years after SAF left, all our players are going into early retirement. grin Many can't smell first team football in Man United.

Different coaches with different training system/methods. As far as i understand, no coach will ever drop his training standard because that is a recipe for failure. So also, no coach will condone laziness by any of his players.

Why will a coach change training system/methods that is giving him results? There can only be modifications here and there.

It is only normal for a new coach to change what he met at a club if it doesn't align with his own training methods and that doesn't mean the previous coach's method was not up to standard.

Winning some games by 1 goal margin doesn't mean the team was lazy. Man Utd are used to winning that way. What about Chelsea winning this season with about eleven games with one goal margin? Does that mean they too are lazy?
We had a change of hands in the assistant coach. So the style and system would automatically change. The result might be that the players muscles will be getting weak year in year out if the training became too soft. I wouldnt also know if there were other changes in medical team as to affect players fitness when coming out of injuries.

In 2007/8 we won many games 1-0, 2-1. But we dominated those games such that the oppositions only played to reduce the goals they came to concede. Most times we went in front first. This is different from when a middle table team dominate us and we only got away with our superior ability to create a clear cut chance or superiority in finishing a chance.

I wrote that post in the context of winning the title as regards the closing fixtures in 2012/13.if you dont get the point then there is no need to extend the argument. You still are yet to convince me how our side was in decline during Fergie s final seasons despite having backroom staff that encouraged laziness.

2011/12 vs Chelsea we scored 6 goals over two ties. how is that luck?

I dont have coogar's type of patience or time to be drawing out arguments for the sake of it.

please prove how laziness on the part of Fergies backroom staff in his last seasons made us less succesful. No need for gerrymandering and roundabouting abeg.
We may have been successful in our own assessment, but the question remains. Why did all our players all drop in performance drastically, all at once? Evra was able to come alive probably because he went to were they could revived his weak muscles.

Can you compare our results of 2011/2012 to 2012/2013?

In 2011/2012 we were still winning 4-0, 5-0 at away. In 2012/2013, we were struggling to come back to win games at OT.

Fergie was always present during trainings. he may not have coordinated them but he oversaw them.
I do not want to believe Fergie would tolerate laziness by any standards. Fergie is known to drop or even sell players based on his percieved view of their commitment to the club in terms of their desire and ambition. how then would someone who is known for that during his entire career tolerate a dip in standards?

the free hands he gave were to his assistants.
Exactly. He gave the assistance free hands to coordinate physical training of the first team. May be they messed it up. The players fitness dropped over time without anyone realizing it. Before 2011/12 season, middle table teams just come to Old Trafford to surrender. Just to mark the register. Their attempts at goals were few. By 2012/2013, even though we won the league easily at the end, we were not comfortably dominating games at Old Trafford. Small teams felt they could threaten us and get something out. Some even took the lead against us. The technicality was there but we could not match the fitness and quickness of such teams like Everton, Tottenham, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle. Remember, Fergie was already old, the tendency to leave out so much for the assistant can not be ruled out for an old man.

we lost to chelsea at home after the league had been sewn up and fergie was in retirement mode.

trust me if Fergie needed a result against any of the two sides at OT he would get them.

Furthermore we won the league in 2012/13,Fergies last season with United.
2011/12 we finished second on goal difference behind City.
2009/10 we finished behind Chelsea by just a point.
check your facts on the emboldened.

BOTTOMLINE we beat both chelsea and city AWAY in his last season and won the league with nearly a month to go before seasons ending.Add Liverpool to that list and you realize that that side was hardly lazy. 3 points is what matters inbthe end. you should know by now that there are no prizes for playing good football.
When City beat us 6-1 at Old Trafford, Fergie did not need a result?

From 2011/2012 season, we were being dominated by City and Chelsea in play. We we got results against them, it was just luck. Gaal has changed ever thing back to the way it used to be. We could say this time, Chelsea were the lucky team.

Hernandez face has nothing to do with anything. He has always had the quickness. he was always being brought in as a sub. Fergie tried to use him as an impact sub in the ole solksjaer mode but he got tired of that role.

are you also implying that Real are using drill style as well?
bro drop this argument. you don't have enough evidence to reach the conclusion you are standing upon
I think it was Carrick or Rooney who gave an interview recently that SAF was not directly involved in teams physical training. He said Gaal is so much involved personally in training.

I read it that SAF delegated his trainings and gave free hand. It's possible therefore that there has been a drop in standard with change of personnel handling the first team training.

we are no longer what we used to be because of the overall quality of the current team. only our goalie can be rated world class. there are at least 7 players in the world better than whoever we parade in all the other 10 positions in the team.

so who are we fooling?
I am not blaming SAF. But did he always have this same back room staff all these years? Because of players that got to retire quickly and those who lost form massively. Anderson would mark you and disposses you, then run forward with the ball. etc Now all gone.

If I am to blame SAF, it's has to do with his transfer policy.

Rafael has cemented his position as United's first-choice right-back and has been one of the Premier League leaders' best players so far this season.

Ferguson feels the 22-year-old has shaken off the impetuous streak which characterised his early days at United and now has the potential to enjoy lasting success at Old Trafford.

"He's been fantastic," said Ferguson of the Brazilian. "He had the rashness, the impetuosity of a young boy. He's a Brazilian, he loves the game, he trains like a beast, never misses training and is a football fanatic.

"When he goes home in the summer, he goes into his street team and plays every day back in Brazil. It's phenomenal.

"We were hoping somewhere along the line that maturity comes along and the rashness disappears and his form this season has been brilliant.

"He can develop the kind of career Gary had, definitely. Gary was not the finished article when he came into the team but he became a fantastic full-back - probably the best the club has ever had.

"But it did take time for him in terms of his use of the ball and his crossing. All of these things develop because he wanted them to develop and he worked hard at it.

"We invest in young players' futures and we get repaid at some point. And that's what's happening with the boy."

Training you players to be athletic, smart, agile and quick to be first to all balls, to turn swiftly, to run fast, to jump high is not about carrying bags of cements. It's about doing the normal aerobic like training for a longer time.

Patrice Evra believes “it’s always the wrong decision to leave Manchester United” and admits he was initially shocked by the intensity of Juventus’ training sessions.
Evra, who has won the league and cup double in his debut campaign in Serie A, is set to appear in his fifth Champions League final and his third against Barcelona on Saturday evening.
“It was really difficult for me to leave Manchester United. I left for a personal choice,
“It doesn’t matter if you go somewhere and you’re still winning – it’s always the wrong decision to leave a club like Manchester United.
“It was a shock at the beginning because, to be fair, I did not expect the way Juventus Football Club were working. They work really hard.
“I think the training sessions are more difficult than the game. In pre-season I remember the manager [Massimiliano ] Allegri always asking me ‘Pat, are you OK’ – I was always saying ‘for the moment I’m still alive’. And it was true, because it was difficult. I’d never worked so hard in my life.
“It’s a great experience because, even for my age now, I feel like I’m more powerful than when I was younger. I qualify myself like a bottle of wine – the more I get older, the more it tastes sweet!”

I keep saying, Ferguson backroom staff instilled laziness into our players and 'killed' some. Our players became the most lazy in the EPL and the older ones retired before their age mates in other clubs. If Terry and Distin can still play very well why shouldn't Ferdinand and Vidic? Players like Anderson should be ruling the league now.

By next season, it would mean that we have changed our team 80-90% from SAF era. All within two seasons.
