I'll take Ramos. Just because he was outpaced by one of the fastest players in the world doesnt mean he's lost it.
Its not ideal that he's 29 already though but he'll bring a wealth of experience and leadership.

Sky are claiming united have bid £28.6m for Ramos.
No one said he has lost it. Just describing his abilities and weaknesses.

Did I just read that someone said Jones cannot score a header?

Jones was our biggest threat from set play after Vidic. It's only last season, he has not been a threat.

When he scored the opening goal against West Brom, it was a powerful header. Like a Drogber's kind of header, not just a lump or a weaker.

In April 2013, it was from Jone's header Kompary conceded an own goal.

Although he has scored more with his legs (right leg), like his late goal for the one nil victory at Villa park in 2011/12 and his UCL goal for one nil win over Shakhtar Donetsk. Then his volley against Norwich.

Una no know ball.

I hope you are right.
What are those elampiric posts about? cheesy
Whatever!

Anyway, just saying I know him already. You guys said I will like him. I don't know whether I really like him or not. He might end up being the new Patrick Veira. He has a sound ability to dictate the flow of a game, but I can't tell if he has the ability to frustrate opposition attack on difficult days.

My analysis of his game (my post on previous page) was when he played only 45 minutes (second half) against USA in the world cup and came out with good stats. 43 accurate passes out of 44, and 100% long balls. Despite playing 45 minutes, his 8 long balls were the second highest in the game. His long balls were all ground balls, some were even split passes between opposition players. I also saw some of his highlights in his friendly matches in the build up to the world cup, then I looked at his stats that period.

But the question remains, is he a ball winner? Can he destroy when things are ugly against his team? This is where Mascherano has no rival. Without Mascherano, Robben had two clear goals against Argentina in the world cup. Mascherano tracked Robben's escape of defenders twice, and stopped him just as he was about to pull the trigger. Just like some said, when Hazard scored the lone goal against Man United last season, a player like Mascherano would have tracked him from the DM position. Carvalho is good, but there will be days things dont go smooth and you need someone to frustrate opposition free attacking play. Like when we played Everton, and when we played Arsenal in the FA Cup.

- As for the signings being proposed, Schneiderlin (another difficult name to pronounce. Janujaz, Rojo already) beats Matic in the very attributes Matic is respected for. However, stats can be misleading. But I like his rugged looks. He will be physical, something I very much think we need for a blend.

- Ramos. I don't take that news serious yet. My assessment is that Ramos is not a composed defender for the calibre that he is. He is only slightly better than Pepe in composure and organisation, but nothing compared to what you get from Vidic. Sometimes when you see Madrid defence against small teams, you wonder if that was a defence led by a world class as Ramos.

Ramos also lack pace which was why Neymar had a field day against him and Pique, and ate them for dinner in the Confederation cup final. Robben too in the world cup outpaced Ramos from a long distance for that famous goal. Ramos ought to have been sent off in the first half of the Confederation cup final when he went on a reckless tackle just because he didn't have the speed to match. However, his aerial prowess and heading accuracy in the opposition box is worth some millions.

elampiro:
How do you guys see William Carvalnho? The guy is like a snail but he is a pass master. He is able to wringle himself out of difficulty to create so much space for his game. He makes it look simple but I couldn't see speed. Can he cope or adapt his game to suit the EPL? His game looks too neat womewhat. Against USA he had 43/44 correct passes. 8/8 long balls in just one half- the 2nd highest. He seems to be a master of long balls. He makes the highest number of accurate long balls in matches he plays. His tackles are usually the highest too, impressive for a DM.
29th Junes 2014.
elampiro:
Where exactly did Vidal play at this word cup? I couldn't assess him as a DM. Carvalho is a straight DM, he is comfortable on a one man deep lying midfielder. He will be good for a team like Barca.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 9:19pm On Jun 15, 2015
It's a pity Ferdinand and Vidic got tired the same time.

Two verane wouldn't hold Madrid central defence comfortably. Young centre defenders must mature playing consistently under the supervision of an established defender. Otherwise they will have to learn the hard way.

Jones and Smalling, particularly, Jones has been played in several positions which has affected his ability to gain command of the centre back position.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m):
Jones
2011/12- 2125 minutes
2012/13- 1205 minutes
2013/14- 2174 minutes
2014/15- 1879 minutes
Total playing time for Man United = 7383

Jones highest played time (2177) was his season in Blackburn b4 he joined us 2010/2011.

Smalling
2010/11- 1082 minutes
2011/12- 1293 minutes
2012/13- 1013 minutes
2013/14- 1938 minutes
2014/15- 1879 minutes
Total minutes played for Man United 7205

Smalling never got a high playing time in Fulham. His highest was 870 before he joined us.

Rafael Da Silva
2008/2009- 1056 minutes
2009/2010- 683 minutes
2010/2011- 1202 minutes
2011/2012- 916 minutes
2012/2013- 2316 minutes
2013/2014- 1418 minutes
2014/2015- 590 minutes

Jones injuries over the years is the best among the young players. Rafael, Smalling, Evans, Shaw, etc have spent more time out with injuries than Jones. It's something common in our club. The bad thing is that Jones own is happening in a time that it will backfire badly on him.

See the bold part below and draw a conclusion for yourself. grin What Barca did by buying Suarez and Rakiti is exactly the approach the article suggested for Man United. The article is suggesting if we must spend (heavily), it should be on the experienced and tested players. The players in our academy should be hoping to break into the main team with gradual maturity of their games by understudying the experienced senior players and with some game time. But when rookies are bought in from other clubs, it destroys any hope of our academy players getting some playing time to mature.

You are funny. I didnt know the difference between opta Assists and EPL/ECL Assists, yet I have been correcting your kuilikuili figures for ages.

Last year March, we used both both OPTA and EPL Assists data as separate data in oir argument, 15 months later you claim I don't know about these stats.

coogar:
you are a pathological liar.
when did i ever say whoscored was opta? i said whoscored use opta stats to compute their data to rate players. why are you twisting the facts when i can dig up your old posts to expose you?

You only began to separate whoscored from opta after I revealed that they were two separate companies. The whole argument started when we discussed which players were rated highest in Man United matches under Moyes, when most ratings from several sports websites didnt favour your view, you said they were all rubbish. That was how you said opta was the only credible rating website. When I asked you to present OPTA players rating, you brought out whoscored players ratings. Ukwu!!!

So I had to correct you that it was whoscored not opta. Different companies. ..... The worst of all these is that 6 months later, you condemned whoscored players ratings as nonsense when they didnt favour your views.

coogar:
shut up your mouth, you old fool.
the only discrepancy in all football stats is the assist. everything else is consistent. opta stats count only intentional passes that leads to goals as assists.

the other side count other things as assists. it's either one or the other - if my assist stats do not agree with yours, common sense should already tell you that i am using the other standard.

it's no rocket science but seeing that you dropped out of school in form-3(before the 6-3-3-4), it's not surprising you have a problem with logic.
Shut up your dirty mouth, you short kpengu big belle.

Everything you wrote up their is your usual Toirtoism. The main thing is that you should stick to one data source through out the length of an argument and be consistent.

You remember too when you used to rubbish Hazard goals, that he has many from penalties. I told you he wins most of the penalties, hence the goals are even more valuable than normal goals from open play. But you kept rubbishing them. Months later, you were using penalties won to count Assists for some other players you like.

Consistency! Man.

In respect of opta Assists vs Eufa Assists dat, as far as March April last year, I was monitoring Rooney's dominance in champions league Assists in both OPTA and Eufa Website. I knew the difference from both figures.

It was me who pointed to you that whoscored and opta are two different companies with separate purposes.

only 2 sets of assist compilation exists. if my numbers don't agree with yours then common sense should tell you i am using the UEFA/FIFA standard. i do not need to spoon feed you to know which of the standard i am using. this is the only statistical parameter that has 2 different standards so all what you wrote there is the musing of a drunken pillöck!
You are a big cheat. You are a real Tortoise.

Common sense should tell that when OPTA data is being used, you should stick to it throughout and argument. Many times you switched, you misled readers, until I had to explain to them you were using two separate data sources.

you should also send this link to elampiro. i have always told him that UEFA/EPL count such stuff as assists even when opta do not recognise rebounds as assists.

And you think I am just getting to know this?

coogar:
UEFA counted assist for tevez & messi but opta did not count it for them. i think it won't be long when there would be a universal rule for what constitutes an assist. if a player is brought down in the box that resulted into a scored penalty, EPL counts it as an assist but opta does not.

There is no confusion. You are the confusion.

I think you should take my advise I have given you over time that you should be consistent with your source of Assist data (whether OPTA or EPL/EUFA) and stick with it throughout the length of an argument, and even if you were to switch from opta to another, you should make it very clear that you have switched.

It doesn't make sense after having used opta for several pages, then I say 'PLAYER A' has 12 Assists, you will come to say'player B,C,D,E' have 18 Assists each without stating the fact that you have switched from opta to grandnut and kuilikuili data.

When guys here lose argument, they change it to look as if they had a genuine point. I said our backroom staff mismanaged our players in Ferguson's last few years. Then starboard and co said I was blaming SAF. I stated categorically that I was pointing at the backroom staff, I even mentioned that possibly the change of assistant caused it. But they went back to say I blame Ferguson to get sympathy from readers like you.

dis is a ridiculous question even by ur standard ,u should also ask what happened to Eric jemba jemba , bebe ,obertan ,veron ,kleberson ,Alan smith ,Fabio ,liam miller ,kieran Richardson ,Darren Gibson ,Campbell ,etc
Obertan, bebe, etc never bossed games like Anderson and Cleverley did. Cleverley was already a feared midfielder in 2008. In 2011 he had come of age. All of a sudden he couldnt come out of a three months injury half himself. We should questioned those who manage his return to fitness.

na now I know say u start to watch match from 2010 ...were we unlucky when we lost 2-0 at OT against Coventry city in '08? or losing 3-0 against AC milan in '07 or losing at Fulham 3-0 in '09 n 2010? did we dominate Middlesbrough when we drew 2-2 with dem in '08? or villa in 2011? or Liverpool when de spanked us 4-1 in '09?
Coventry. Match played by our rookies.

All these were just one offs. Even Barca lose matches. Find another excuse not going to list matches spanning 5 seasons.

For Ando it was injury crisis. He has a long list of injury crisis from his days at Porto. It is only a fit player that can be in form.

For Cleverley, Moyes over-trained him and also affected him with his negative football. We can see that in his performances at Aston Villa this season.

Moyes destroyed a lot of our players with his hard training method and negative playing style that eroded their confidence. At a point Fellaini complained about the intensity of his training. That is a player that he brought from his former club who knew his training methods from Everton. That alone speaks a lot of over-training.
Moyes did not destroy anything. Everton players are fitter than ours.
