Barcelona 3-1 Manchester United: Barcelona are European Champions May 29, 2011 The starting line-ups Goals from each of Barcelona’s front three gave Pep Guardiola’s side victory at Wembley. Sir Alex Ferguson named his recent ‘big game’ XI – which meant Javier Hernandez upfront with Wayne Rooney behind, and Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick in the centre of midfield. The biggest surprise was Dimitar Berbatov not even being on the bench ....... Hernandez starts The key decision before the game was whether Hernandez would play upfront, or be dropped in favour of another midfielder. The choice to play him was an attacking move from Ferguson, but the inevitable knock-on effect was that Carrick and Giggs were overwhelmed in the centre of midfield. Wayne Rooney was given the job of tracking Sergio Busquets – a difficult task considering Rooney wanted to be in space when United won the ball.

Against City when we started with 4-5-1 with JS Prk behind Rooney. Later SAF went to his USUAL formation....... ........ Manchester City 1-0 Manchester United May 1, 2012 First subs First, Ferguson went for the obvious move – Park off, Danny Welbeck on upfront, and United moving to their usual 4-4-1-1. Rooney dropped deeper to become the number ten, and now Kompany and Lescott couldn’t move up towards Rooney and still keep a spare man behind, as they had Welbeck to deal with. Instead, Gareth Barry dropped onto Rooney and City retained 2 v 1 against Welbeck. This wasn’t ideal for City, though – Barry was playing very deep and letting United have control of the midfield. Therefore, Mancini responded by introducing Nigel De Jong for Tevez, and City moved to more of a 4-5-1 system, with De Jong as a holding player on Rooney. Second subs Ferguson’s next move was Antonio Valencia for Scholes, with Nani switching to the left and Giggs into the middle. Valencia played in his usual right-wing position. Mancini was obviously nervous about the threat of Valencia, and went to great lengths to make his defence more secure down that side. Micah Richards replaced David Silva and became the right-sided centre-back, which meant Kompany shuffling across slightly, Lescott becoming a left-centre-back/left-back, and Clichy becoming a left-back/left-wing-back. Clichy stuck tight to Valencia, and Lescott offered support behind. Third subs Finally, Ferguson made a straight swap – Ashley Young on for Nani down the left. Mancini didn’t respond to this until stoppage time – but then, he saw Nasri was slow retreating from an attack, leaving Young in space to pick up the ball. Therefore, Nasri was withdrawn and James Milner protected Zabaleta for the final few minutes. Each time, Ferguson tried to get a player into space – then Mancini responded by shutting down the space. Since City didn’t concede a single shot on target, even with United trailing for 45 minutes, Mancini’s improvisation deserve praise. Conclusion United might not have lost if they’d defended that corner better – but their system still wouldn’t have done the intended job. Park didn’t take Toure out of the game, while Giggs’ narrowness meant Zabaleta and Nasri were free to create overloads down the flank. This might have been a very different game to the 1-6, but both matches were about City creating situations of numerical superiority in United’s full-back positions. |
I have many charts as the above with match report to complement. Zonal Marking stated matches after matches that Rooney played behind Chicharito or Welbeck in 4-4-1-1. Although there were a few other matches with some other formations like the 4-5-1 against City when we lost 1-0 from Company's goal. That again corroboarated my argument since I joined this thread that Rooney only played 9 when Chicharito, Welbecka and Berbatov were not involved and those matches were few. Then again the formation changed to either 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 with Park or Giggs behind Rooney when it's 4-5-1. Even in the second half against City, SAF reverted to 4-4-1-1. |
Which yeye Chicha is a box player? So one striker is meant to be in the box and the other in midfield making 53 passes per game more than the wingers? What kinf of arrangement is that? hahahahahacoogar:You and I agreed that OPTA's formation can not fully be relied on when discussing formation used by teams. Have you forgorten already? ![]() Look you and opta: You said Rooney played as a lone striker in 2009. OPTA says he paired with Berbatov. ................................. Chelsea 3-3 Manchester Unitedl February 5, 2012 An exciting game featuring a classic Manchester United comeback. Andre Villas-Boas was without Ashley Cole and John Terry, so had to field Jose Bosingwa at left-back and give a debut to Gary Cahill in the centre of defence. Frank Lampard and Ramires were also both out, so Florent Malouda came into the side with Chelsea changing formation. Sir Alex Ferguson picked the expected side in a 4-4-1-1 shape. Chris Smalling had picked up an injury the day before, otherwise his promising partnership with Jonny Evans might have been retained at the back. - Zonal Marking.

coogar:Rooney 84 shots outside the box. Hernadez 6 shots outside the box. This gap is even like heaven and hell even if you prorate the time. coogar:Rooney did not play as a lone striker. What was Berbatov doing? Berba's laziness made it look like he never existed in the team. He was actually the lead man. Rooney was the lone striker in the champions league games. |
More fact coming out. How can Rooney play as a striker and got involved more in passing the ball all season than the wingers and defenders. Rooney passed the ball very 1.7 minutes which is 53 passes per 90 minutes. JS Park, a winger and midfielder took passed the ball every 1.9 minutes. Chicharito passed the ball every 3.7 minutes which equaled to only 24 passes per game. How often United players pass the ball 2011/2012. Rooney's minutes per pass is 1.7= Converted to 53 passes per 90 minutes. Rooney 1.7=========53 Chicharito 3.7 ======24 Welbeck= 2.7 =======32 JS Park 1.9 ========47 Young 2.1= ========42 Nani 2=========== 44 Ferdinand== =======45 Vidic ============44 Valencia 1.8== ======51 Jones 1.8========= 48 Smalling 2.2======= 40 Owen 4= 2=========22 Fabio 2========== 44 Evans ===========52 Vidic============44 Evra=============48 Berbatov= 2.2====== 41 I said this before, if Rooney played as a top 9 and was part of the build up play to the extent described above by these stats, then Rooney is an alien for doing that all season. Any logical being would know this superstar was played in the hole. A striker cannot have more passes than wingers. How many evidences now point to this fact that Rooney was in the hole behind the striker? |
coogar:I should be the one asking you whether you understand English and stats? The gap was so much that it needed no debate but you were trying to find an excuse and it didnt work. The gap between Rooney and Hernadez was like the gap between heaven and earth. coogar:Common sense should tell that Rooney had more shots inside the box in 2009 while he had more outside the box in 2011. |
coogar:Yesterday. coogar:Today. The devil's agent of lying at work. ![]() Ayagayagayagayo hei, ayagayagayagayo. .............................. Wouldnt it have been more dignifying if this Tortoise just admitted he didnt understand what his figures stood for? That he didnt understand the figures he paraded? |
elampiro:Now these figures returned in tack. The lies from the devils demon of lying did not stand the test of truth. |
coogar:The devil's demon of lying. Rooney passes per game as compared to other in the team shows exactly where he played. |
coogar:Coolieguy Tortoise posted this yesterday. He said categorically that these were numbers of set pieces taken by these players. Today that I am chanced, I probed him by asking him how possible Chicharito took only 6 shots outside the box, but ended up with more set place. Coogar now changed mouth that hmmm, hmmm actually these are shots received from set play by these players. All in the name to make the figures less favourabale to Rooney. |
coogar:You are a manipulator. Even the devil is shocked at your lying ability. I asked you since yesterday to provide the number of free kicks Rooney took himself and the one Chicharito took himself, you said Chcihca took 10. You never knew I would dig up the shots figures myself. You didnt know I will probe you on your alleged Chicha's 10 free kick taken. coogar:Rooney spread his passes diagonally to his wingers which I evidenced with a lengthy video here in the past. He passed to them then ran into the bus to connect the crosses. |
coogar: coogar:The dispute was shots from set play. I knew you were lying that Rooney took 51 shots from set play. Now your lies are out after I probed you further. coogar:Your yourself said your stats was about the receiver of the set piece and not the taker. So what are you saying here again to deceive us? Giggs and Young took most of our free kick that season. Chicharito receive 10 shots from the set peiece takers and Rooney received 51 shots from the set piece takers. That is what your stat says. coogar:You are the one who says everything is fraudulent or misleading when you are found out. You rubbished whoscored and their ratings, you rubbished Assists when it favours Rooney, you said Scholes is an illiterate. You lied that Mourinho did not kick a ball before I showed you he played. |
coogar:I never disputed the figures. You dont pay attention to details. I disputed the shots from set play because you lied that Rooney took 51 shots from set play himself. Chicha took 10 himself. Berba and Welbeck, etc. Now I took you on it, it took you 24 hours to say the truth that it was their attempts from others set play. Even Smalling attempts from others set plays. So why did you lie to cause confusion in the facts I submitted? coogar:You are telling more lies. Whoever will believe you again after you have been found out? Rooney had those 51 shots from inside the box, not outside. That is what I will take. Not your lies. |
I will come back to address some other of the issues you raise. But the above should end it all for you. I said it before. All these agree with the the video I posted here last year showing Rooney's goals and Assists in 2011/2012 season. Rooney was always deep in our half when attack started. Sometimes he started the attacking from our defensive zone with Chicha and Nani in the opposition third. Then Nani will run to the box to end it all. |
coogar: This alone is enough to end this argument. You are not even helping your argument. All Shots Name...........Outside the box............Inside the box Rooney............... 84.........................73 Chicharito........... 6...........................41 Welbeck............. 14......................... 66 Berbatov............. 1...........................15 From your post above, it mean 51 out of Rooney's 73 shots from inside the box were from set plays he converted from another players cruve in. This again shows that Rooney wouldnt even be in the box if not for his attempt to connect free kicks from other players like Giggs and Young.Nani. Helo Coogar. |
coogar: Coogar can you reconcile this? You see that your shots from set play has been fraudulent since yesterday? Chicharito had 6 shots outside of the box, then you said he had 10 shots from set pieces. Was he taking his set pieces from inside of the box? |
coogar:You are the one arguing like a village illiterate and trying to deceive people. I dint not dispute his number of shots. But your shots from set plays were fraudulent to deceive people. coogar:I have already given you these stats s in the box below. You can see that Rooney's shot from outside the box shows he played as an AM. All Shots Name...........Outside the box............Inside the box Rooney............... 84.........................73 Chicharito........... 6...........................41 Welbeck............. 14......................... 66 Berbatov............. 1...........................15 coogar:(a) You said Chicharito had six shots from outside the box. (b) You said Chicharito had 10 shots from set piece. Coogar, pls can you explain hos this is possible? This is why I said your shots from set play stats are fraudulent. |
sinizia:See hypocrisy of the highest order. Coming from someone who brought in Kane, Aguero, Lampard, Suarez, Ronaldo, Messi, Ibrahimovic, Beteke, etc. You see how much you cannot see things from two sides of an equation. . This is what hatred towards a fellow human being does to someone. This is why we have Terrorist killing people in the world because they see things from their narrow angle sinizia:Lies, Ferguson did not buy Rooney for the purpose of scoring goals only. This wasnt his strongest quality before United bought him. Rooney was not even Everton top scorer across those two seasons before SAF bought him. Rooney at Everton: Goals= 15 Assists= 17 So why do you think SAF bought him? sinizia:Mourinho came for him for his scoring and assisting ability. Rooney topped Assists on per minutes played the previous season. He did not top goals chart. sinizia:1. How many away games did he play as the top striker? 2. All Chelsea strikers combined together did not record an away goal in calender year 2013. When they beat Sunderland 7-0 that period, everyone else scored but Torres. Torres, Etoo, Ba, all combined together did not score any away goal in the whole of 2013. Van Persie an out and out striker did not score in 10 matches for United in 2012/2013. But when it's Rooney, any negative record even if it's 4 matches, rings bell on this thread. Haters. 3. Any player that has been listed as Ballondor best striker in the last 5 years is qualified for 300k a week. Ibra, Falcao, Messi, Ronaldo. Also Rooney image has earned United so much income. So it was right or the club to reward him with a little part of that money. If you are not satisfied, go and meet SAF, Woodward, Glaziers and Gaal in Old Trafford. |
coogar:This is a lie. Chicharito did not have 1.7 shot per game when taken down to 90 minutes played rather than the substitutions time he had. Substitution roles dropped Chicha's figures in both seasons. The number of shots dont even tell the position of a player but the the zone where the shots were taken shows the position. Rooney and Chicha did not play in same Zone coogar:1. Rooney took most of his shots from outside of the box as I have already shown. This meant his playing zone was different from Chichrito and Welbeck. 2. You brought shot from set plays for all competition to try to reduce Rooney's shots from outside of the box in the EPL games.. 3. Even if we were to tow your line. It would mean Chicharito did not have any shot outside of the box. 1. All Shots Name...........Outside the box............Inside the box Rooney............... 84.........................73 Chicharito........... 6...........................41 Welbeck............. 14......................... 66 Berbatov............. 1...........................15 2. You refused to provide shots from set play for the EPL games only. However, I decided to prorate the figures you earlier provided for all competitions to isolate only for EPL. Shots from open play. (Shots from set play deducted). Name...........Outside the box............Inside the box Rooney............... 60.........................67 Chicharito........... 0...........................41 Welbeck............. 4......................... 66 Berbatov............. 0...........................13 This is clear indication that Rooney played in the hole while Chicharito and the other played in the number 9. |
coogar:1. Your figures are even wrong. My figures there are only EPL apearances while yours are all competition. Pls restrict it to EPL. 2. Even if I were to adopt your bogus figures.... This means Rooney had 35 shots from set play. That leaves him with 49 from outside the box. Chicharito has just 6 shots from outside the box. Using even this fraudulent figures of yours, Rooney will end up with 52% of his shots inside the box while Chicha has 83%. 3. On your other points: (a) How can we add Rooney's free kick to Chicha's, we rather deduct all set plays. If you add them to Chicha's own, then you also have to multiple Chicha's shots from inside the box in correlation to the number of minutes Rooney played. Because if Chicharito had played same number of minutes as Rooney, and taken all the penalties, his shot inside the box would more than double. That is, Chicha had 41 from inside the box with just 1477 minutes, which means if he played 2839 minutes he would have (41 x 1.92213) = 79 shots from inside the box from Chicharito. Add 8 Rooney's penalty you mentioned= 87 shots for Chicha inside the box. Lastly you will take Chicha's set play and add them to Rooney's figures outside the box. When you streamline your set plays figure to the EPL only I will easily work this out for you. Helo guy? 4. So Ozil was bought with 40 million to create 9 Assists? Did you realize that Rooney scored 17 goals? See you tonight or tomorrow latest. |
If I were not on this thread, Coogar would brainwash people to the point that some could go on suicide mission to kill Rooney. They won't mind if they were dead as long as Rooney is either ddad or incapacitated. Bin Laden is no better brainwasher than Coolieguy-Tortoise. I never was a huge fan of Rooney before I came here. I knew I liked Rooney, Nani, Anderson. Somewhat I think I had my backing for Nani than anyone else in United. My younger brother went to watch all Portugal's matches in Euro 2012 just to see Nani, secondly to see CR7. He sent me lots of messages stating how he was happy to see him do those things we loved him for in TV. Both of us exchange happy messages and calls about Nani's games and dribblings in EUro 2012. Although I have another brother who stopped liking Nani after 2011/2012 season. After joining this thread and I saw way back how Rooney was so much hated, over time I took him as my guy. Many other players Coogar hype or over love, I smash them too. Coogar and I can never be in the same team. |
coogar:Ozil was bought for 40 million to cope 9 Assist? Now we know who the fraudsters in EPL are. Rooney scored 17 goals lasts season and provided 10 Assists in a weak team. Yet they blame him. |
coogar:This is vague. Please write like the Coogar we know. 1. Are you saying Rooney took 35 set plays outside the box? Then Chicharito took 9 set plays outside the box? How possible when Chicha had only 6 shots from outside the box? 2. Even if that were to be true? Did you include corner kicks? 3. Even if Rooney had 35 set plays deducted, he is still a zillion miles ahead of Chicharito who had just 6 shots. Helo? If I dont have time to reply now, pls bear with me. |
sinizia:So Ozil was bought to make Assists for 40 million pounds, yet Rooney beats him in Assists last season- if I remember well 'cos I didnt check? Here you are there complaining that Rooney is over paid? our hypocrisy is alarming. Let me get it down to you, if Rooney was meant not to Assists as you say, and then he went on to beat such players like Coutinho, Ozil, Carzola and Mata in Assists, then Rooney is worth his pay. In 2012/2013 Rooney defeated Mata, Carzola etc in Assists provided per minutes played. He has nearly 100 Assists in EPL alone with 187 goals. Yet Ozil was bought for 40 million just to provide Assists? Then Rooney is worth 500k/week. |
1. 2011/12 season. Shots from inside and outside the box. Name...........Outside the box............Inside the box Rooney............... 84.........................73 Chicharito........... 6...........................41 Welbeck............. 14......................... 66 Berbatov............. 1...........................15 This says it all. Rooney played in the hole. 83% of Chicharito's shots were from inside the box. 82% of Welbeck's shots were from inside the box. 93% of Berba's shots were from inside the box. Only 46% of Rooney's shots were from inside the box. 2. Further Breakdown. Name.........Outside the box......Inside the penalty area.....Inside the six yard box Rooney............... 84.........................59.............................14 Chicharito........... 6...........................29............................ 12 Welbeck............. 14......................... 57..............................9 Berbatov............. 1...........................13..............................2 Now look at Rooney shots from inside the 6 yard box. Rooney played a whole 2839 minutes and had just 14 shots inside the 6 yard box. Chicharito played only 1477 and had 12 shots inside the box, almost as Rooney had. 3. Shots outside of the box in 2011/2012 Rooney = every 33.8 mins Chicharito= every 246.2 mins Welbeck = every 144 minutes (Welbeck played on the wings too which boosted his shot outside the bix but nothing near Rooney's figure) Berbatov= every 513 mins. I will be back later. This says it all that Rooney played in the hole. Yori Yori. ![]() |
coogar:Now: 1. How many total shots did Chicharito took? We can work it our visavis Rooney. We also look at the area the shots were taken. I will bring it out later myself. 2. As for Assists, hahahahaha. Something you used to promote Ozil when he just arrived EPL. Now it's useless. You even used it to promote Mata over Hazard and Oscar about 16 months back. Coogar I hail you o. Alaiye baba. ![]() |
I will be back later pls. I will investigate that Cicharito's shots claim. I will bring it out easily. Shots per minutes played. |
coogar:I missed this post. I meant Rooney was in central midfield vs Stoke, vs West Ham, vs Villa on the day we won the league in our three nil win over Villa. When he gave RVP the Assists for the best goal of the season, Rooney was playing in the central midfield. He was in the wing in Madrid and some league games. There was a certain game he was awarded the MOTM after he score the two goals from the right wing. Although left wing his his better wing position It's hard to follow all the post when one is busy and there were three people arguing with me. |
coogar:So you mean Chcihairo who was the top striker, who usualy was isolated up front had 1 shot in 90 minutes? This sounds true to you? coogar:What about his Assists? Rooney kind of football is one who complement with midfield duties, like tracking Michael Essien in our two legged UCL fixtures. This is why you and I saw Robben differently two years back. You and your apostles said Robben was not worth more than 15 to 20 million and I said he was worth about 40 to over 50 million. You were looking at figures, I was looking at his overall contribution. Same way we saw Hazard differently this last season. You always look at figures alone. Even thought, Rooney figures Assists+Goals are not bad, they are very good but not excellent. You are entitled to your opinion though and and also allowed to have disciples and apostles in your ministry or school of though. But they never represent the club's opinion or his various managers opinions. |
coogar: Chacharito's figues are low because of his supersub roles. A player who is usually substituted and comes in late like 78th minutes wouldnt take many shots in few minutes played. On the second part of your posts, you are saying now that his about 187 EPL goals + 94 Assists are a justification of his EPL legendary status. Yori Yori. Nomatter where he has played, he has been productive. |
