chrisley024:Physical strength is part of this power. However, football involves mobility, power here should be seen and obvious in the manner one uses the ball on the field. The runs and chases, the movements, switch off and switch on time. It's more about energy, you could add stamina. Ability to use same amount of energy to carry out a task over a sustained period. Rooney can hit a very high speed, even higher than Oxlaide within 20 yards. But Oxlaide, even if he were to run at a bit lower speed than Rooney, he would get to a ball 50 yards away due to his energy which would allow a sustained consistent speed over a sprint distance. Then he is likely to do that thought out 90 minutes while Rooney would have fluctuations in his speed and use of energy. You look at athleticism. Rooney used to be very powerful when he first started. Di Maria has pace but no much power. This is why he is defensive liable. Di Maria's pace could be more than Oxlaide's, but he wouldn't catch Oxlaide if he were to chase 40 yards back to our area. His speed will fluctuate along the way. The speed of an Olympic sprinter doesn't fluctuate over 100 meter. Pace and lots of power (energy) is involved. Robben can carry the ball across the breath of a football field switching play from left to right side with three men chasing heavily and not catching up, then he applies his technique and reverses with the chasers continuing and he is still applying same energy to advanced ahead of them. If it were Di Maria, he would be closed down and dispossessed before he does a third of that due to his fluctuating speed. Yaya Toure for instance, doesn't have a sustained level of high speed over a many yards. He also has a switch off in games, which means there would be time he would be resting or playing lightly while he should be involved heavily. This is how I can explain it to you. |
The fragile girl actually has power. Remember when she carried her coach shoulder high and walked along with ease. It's possible some people packing muscle cannot do this. ![]()
|
Look at the fragile looking girl they were calling 'pace and power' throughout the tournament. It's not about muscle or looking like Akinfenwa. It's about pure energy. See French babes for comparison of physique.
|
If power were to be about physique or built, someone like Pacquiao would never have been a boxer. |
parrotibaba:Power is his number 1 attribute. MAN OF THE MATCH Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich): In this kind of form, there's no stopping him. His brilliant first goal doubled Bayern's lead and effectively put the game beyond Augsburg, who just couldn't handle his pace and power. http://www.eurosport.com/football/bundesliga/2014-2015/augsburg-v-bayern-munich-live_sto4512296/story.shtml Going into Brazil 2014 The national team relies on Robben for his blistering pace and power down the wing. He is exceptional at taking on defenders, beating them down the line, and putting in a great cross. Also, Robben is notorious for his hammer of a left foot. In Brazil 2014, you are almost guaranteed to see Robben streak down the right side of the pitch, cut to the inside to leave his defender in the dust, and unleash a devastating laser shot to the bottom of the near post or a beautiful curling effort to the back. Robben is an adept passer of the ball on the ground, too. He can break defenses apart with a quick one-two with a teammate, as well as put a perfectly weighted through ball onto the foot of an advancing forward. He has also recently transformed his game to become a more complete and team-oriented player. It is not uncommon to see Robben tracking back from the opponents half of the field to mark a man and put some defensive pressure on the ball, a sight that would have been jaw-dropping a few years ago. ..... http://sites.duke.edu/wcwp/world-cup-guides/world-cup-2014/players-to-watch-at-the-2014-world-cup/uefa/netherlands-arjen-robben/ |
chrisley024:For sure. Although Valencia is also powerful. |
lekkie073:Any one who can hit an Olympic speed over 40 yards is powerful. Robben biggest attribute is power- energy. Before Robben became one of the officially recognized one of the 5 best in the world. I was on this thread speaking about his pace and power and people didnt really contest that, instead they said he was useless. Now he is ruling football, people want to say he's just technical. Robben = power. |

Dadehmola:Na you no know ball. You guys think power is about bulkiness, or heavy muscles or looking physically built. When Oshoala was being spoken of match after match as having destroying teams in the U-20 wotld cup, the commentators often referred to her speed and power just as I had already revealed about her game. One would think Oshoala is one of the most heavily or physically built female footballers. But she actually the opposite. She is even small when compared to such players in teams like France, Sweden and many oppositions. A player like Njoku who looks like Mike Tyson however doesnt have power. Oshoala went on to win the FIFA player of the tournament, she went to Nations cup and won the best player. Then finally she won the African women footballer of the year. Her pace, power and skills standing her out, not a any gorilla built. |
Odunharry: You definitely dont know what it means to have power. Power is not about muscle or physically built. Power has more to do with energy. Report has it that Robben, Valcencia and Ronaldo have all recorded the speed of Olympic sprinters off the ball. Any one able to do that must be someone with power. |
I saw someone wrote Welbeck as more powerful than Robben? Ukwu! You guys don't know who has power when you see people. Is it by size or built? Ajebota Welbeck. |
The two most powerful footballers in the world playing in top clubs are Robben and ribery. From the days of Chelsea the first thing Iknew Robben for is power. Rooney has no power. Jones has power but not as much as Robben. Robben 's tenacity is nothing compared to his power. Being powerful doesn't mean you will not be fouled . Every dribbler is bound to be fouled whether powerful or not. The difference between Di Maria and Sanchez is power. Both are tenacious. Herrera is tenacious. |
chrisley024 which EPL player is as powerful as Robben? Only Sanchez comes close. We no such amount of power in any of our players. Robben reminds me of Edgar Davis with unusual power and tenacity. |
Bayern Munich were without their pace and power wingers, that was why they lost. ![]() Robben is three players. |
chrisley024:I think this guys is good. This is like Dani Alves of old. But we wait and see. |
AdeLaNa1:OK. |
So Date just dey dash Porto goals? Ukwu!!! |
What's the meaning of PAC, SHO, DRI, etc? |
According to Skysports, Aston Villa, Everton, Spurs, West Ham and Arsenal are interested in signing Cleverley, plus four more unspecified European teams. Cleverley will be a free agent in the summer and there is no prospect of a new deal at United under Louis van Gaal who told the midfielder to look for another club early in the season. According to the Telegraph earlier this week, Cleverley is seeking a £40,000 a week contract from any new employer. Cleverley’s departure from Old Trafford will end an association of nearly 15 years, after he joined the club as a trainee in July 2000. [Source: @SkySportsNewsHQ] |
Michael Carrick has revealed that he has picked up tips from former Manchester United greats on how to prolong his career. Carrick revealed that over the years he has picked up things from Old Trafford greats such as Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville on how to maintain the body in the latter stages of his career. “Living right and trying to look after myself gives me a better chance. I feel as good and as a fit as I ever have, “I'm not saying I can last as long as Giggsy. Not many people, if anyone, can do what he did. But I tried to learn off Giggsy, Scholesy and Gaz Nev. “It's stuff in the gym, yoga, living right, eating right… it all comes together and hopefully gives you a chance of playing for that extra couple of years.” [Source: Squawka] ............ Why Yoga? Dem say Yoga dey invite evil spirits. |
Radamel Falcao will not be undeterred from still having hope about a Manchester United future beyond the end of his current loan. Following the club's excellent derby win there were several articles in the Colombian media pondering whether it was unfair he only got a cameo role or whether he was lucky to get that and Louis van Gaal has shown that his side is much better without the striker. Since the derby victory, Falcao has spoken to the Colombian media about his situation once more. the striker said "Every player wants to play, that's very normal, but I have respect for the manager and the decisions he takes, I keep working hard in training, learning every day to play in different systems in different styles of football. "Manchester United are a great club, I am very happy to be here and that is why I have no problem being patient." {Source: lafm.com.co, Sport Witness] |
Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Nathaniel Clyne in the summer according to the sources of The Mirror’s David McDonnell. Speaking on United in Press this evening on MUTV, McDonnell said the deal is done to make Clyne the first signing by Louis van Gaal this year. McDonnell’s comments come hours after reports from ESPN suggested a swap deal could see Javier Hernandez go to Southampton as part of a deal for Clyne. What seems strange about McDonnell’s claims is that he decided to announce them on MUTV rather than The Mirror. Manchester United have started 'scouting players' ahead of next season, manager Louis van Gaal has revealed. Van Gaal is expected to oversee another busy summer when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season. Van Gaal told the club website: "Already in January we began thinking about next season because we have to prepare our pre-season and Manchester United will go to America. "The aim is of course that we have to train and not only to play matches. Already for three or four months we are talking about our pre-season. "We also think about the scouting of players, the scouting of our own players because we have a lot on loan and then we have to analyse their performances, so it’s a lot of work. "It’s not only the present season but also what we have to decide for players next season." [Source: manutd.com] |
Dortmund confirms Klopp to leave in June. |
Players comparison can be misleading when teams have opposite approach to games. If u can't tackle you don't play for Jose's defensive set up. |
I have a 'ritual' I do recently for days before our games and it has been working perfectly. Coogar has to beg me to commence this difficult ritual ASAP, otherwise Jones back pass meets Hazard...... ![]() |
adebayo201:Oh! dats good to hear. |
chrisley024:How long did he take Rooney to control a cross from Di Maria and then turned 180 degree to smash it in against Villa. * Rooney controlled and turned well against City. You guys must find excuse. Na today we dey see offside from not properly timed run against a pass or a pass against a run? |
chrisley024:Rooney's record in unsuccessful touch is best among the strikers and wingers, except Ashley Young. It's even better than Rafael's. |
coogar:RVP is the hynea because these are inbox issues. Should I bring forward the midfield stats, Rooney will fly higher than RVP like an astronaut jet over an company chopper. Check the number of passes that has to do with build up play. But you can lie. RVP never had these Assist. Check your opta. |
coogar:Opportunist hyna blocking routes. Always in the box scoring from 6 yard regions. Anyone in the 6 yard region will have assists. But when he cant score, the entire team dies. |
coogar:And I have only invited once in the past one year. |
