PietroRick: until Bailly was taken off and the defensive shape changed. No dey misyarn anyhow. Young was just as bad as Bailly before the change of shape and it was understandable because Bailly is a serial confusionist.
He improved a lot after, put in a few vital blocks but still had moments of drunkenness.
He had an okay game all things considered.. but for you to come here and call him the best player yesterday is just beyond ridiculous Young was not a defender from the beginning. How can you blame him for our disorganisation in the beginning when he was not even there? If anything, yesterday proves Young has been a super hero in the right back. |

The entire defence line was caught sleeping for PSG's goal. Bailly principally at fault.
In two similar situations, Young went for the rescue. In one case he put his life on the line and did a last man clearance from the central defence position.

Beorn: The is the classic case of coal tar calling charcoal black. The amount of irony and hypocrisy dripping from your post is so palpable that it'd stained my phone screen. What you're accusing others of is what you've been doing all season. You've probably have blamed Shaw for every wrong results or goal conceded, to the extent you've accused Shaw for being responsible for the off form of Martial in games, and probably the reason why Sanchez flopped at United.
If the sun doesn't shine or the rain doesn't fall when you want, you'll still blame Shaw and still have the temerity to criticize those that constructively pointed out the errors and lapses in concentration of Young.
If na only you know ball and all of us no know ball, e mean say na only you no know ball. Shaw was very poor at the beginning of the season and was unable to make intelligent passes. |

You havent seen Lindelof or Shaw from yesterday.
It is a walkabout Young that is your best player, someone who kept putting us under pressure with stray passes and wrong positioning till he was hauled off for a fricking 18 year old.
Give it a rest. You don't know what you are saying. Young was taken off for his tiredness after this high work rate. He bailed out Lindelof and Smalling many times. Lindelof and Smalling were partly at fault for PSG goal. if Young were there he would have bailed them out. |

Our defence was in disarray and we looked like we were going to concede ten goals until Young went to the rescue and organized it. Making two desperate clearances to bail out the Central defenders.

SIRcumalot: I have no problem with the OGS sub. The pace of lingard and particularly Martial didn't do sheet for us through out the 1st half. Maybe Mata and sanchez craftiness could do the deed.
Am a big lukaku fan,at the moment he can't do anything right. Maybe we try him the 2nd leg. We're out of the UCL we were never going to win. The mandate is still to secure top 4, and we're doing alright on that front, can't dwell on this very painful loss. We looked the better side with Lingard and Martial in our attack and PSG were afraid of coming at us. At worst it was a leveled game. But in the second half, from onset we parked the bus because we became weak going forward. If Martial had controlled two passes better, we could have scored a goal in the first half. Sanchez and Mata have no business in this team anymore. They can only play against Wolverhampton Wanderers |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 12:59am On Feb 13, 2019 |
We lost the game ourselves. First goal was Matic's fault but a central defender ought to be around that zone.
Second goal was even worse, Bailly and Lindelof at fault. That would never have happened if we played Smalling.
We looked like we were going to win in the first half, but for some poor final decisions. We played many corner kicks before PSG even had one. The injury to Lingard and Martial finished us. When I saw Sanchez and Mata, I knew we were never going to trouble PSG again. Lukaku should have been brought in.
We are the inexperienced side, so it is logical we lose.

Today, Linderlof won no tackle. Jones won two-one of them a clever tackle against Kane which analysts have commended the way he made it easy.
1 block each, but Jones' block was instrumental to the overall result.

The last time Linderlof played nonsense on the LCB, not even one person here said anything about it. But it is usual for people to comment on every Jones touch from the first minute. This is why I don't take this place serious again. There are some players people here witch-hunt and want them fail. If I want to comment, I just come on match day drop a comment off I go.
The question is why is Linderlof playing on the RCB if he is the better of the two? It is common football sense. Why was Jones also schedule to mark Kane and not Linderlof who is taller and has match form? Una know pass coach. This same Kane is not easy for even Ramos and Madrid DMs.

Lana1: Jones is playing coz no other person to play with Lindelof. Still on this LCB excuse? Is it only in United that right footed CBs play LCB??
Lindelof also came in to LCB to cover for Jones and made good blocks and clearances to deny Spurs. Say something else That is not true. Jones will only go to the bench if he has a minor injury. Other than that he was selected ahead of Bailly while both were fit. On LCB? What was the performance of Linderlof when he played there last against a small Newcastle? I think it was Newcastle when he was rubbished throughout. The match Bailly was sent off. |

Jones was useless today Oga - accept your "L" in peace!! How was he useless? I saw him blocked a shot that would have been a direct goal, the one people talk is a mistake made by Shaw that is attributed to Jones. This forum get agenda. Before we needed Fellaini to help us see out games but now Jones is giving us clean sheets. Bookmakers rating says he did well. Whoscored rated him above Linderlof because who scored see those things you and your guys here cannot see. |

Three clean sheets from three Jones starts
Why is it that when we have had the best defensive record is when Jones has been one of the paired CBs? Under Gaal Jones-Smalling, Jones-Rojo. Under Mourinho Jones-Bailly
This guy is rusty playing on the less comfortable left side and helping us with clean shits. Sometimes people who do dirty jobs don't get seen.

ChristineC: @elampiro how comfortable was Phil Jones at LCB in Newcastle? Give Jones time he will do well. I hope he doesn't go to injury soon because I don't know why he was rested in the previous game. Or may be Ole was trying out a new setting. Lindelof was more woeful in the previous game though. There was no pressure in that game. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 11:35am On Jan 03, 2019 |
Even both have 5 long passes each and Jones completed more % of his long passes.
We have to be patient for these players to play many matches in the new set up. Before Ole played his first match, people already listed Valencia, Matic, Fellaini, Jones, Young, Lingard, Lukaku, Mata to be sold. I think they are trying to justify their suggestions by highlighting every mistake made by these guys.
I have told you guys before, when you see a coach plays two central defenders with same foot (righted foot CDs in this case) and one is made to play in the opposite side in the RCB & LCB arrangement, the coach actually thinks that one is the stronger or better. The exception is be that the other defender cannot do anything at all with his other foot. But that is not the case here, because Linderlof is the better footballer between the two.
Since SAF, Jones has been made to play on the left almost all the time when paired with another right footer. Last weekend, Bailly started on the right and Lindelof on the left. Bailley got sent off late and Jones finished from the right. One would have thought that Jones would continue from the right, but the coaches re-arranged. Linderlof made three great mistakes that day. Two could have resulted to easy goals. One a missed header inside the box without any iota pressure. I think it was Bailly who quickly reacted to the dropped ball.
To me, I have to wait and see more about these players. |
