What is the meaning of this started you're talking about?
The facts are easy to verify
Messi - 4 goals
Di Maria - 1

The one goal Di Maria scored was assisted by Messi but according to you he didn't perform well. Well I think the problem is the standard we have come to accept of Messi and Di Maria that's playing out here, yes?
All I know is that Messi has been far less effective in Argentina than Barca. It goes back to my argument that quality of team mates matter. Even Ronaldo has not been as effective for Portugal as for Manchester United, Madrid.

Pogba would play better in a Madrid, Barca team than in a United team. The attacking sense of Rashford, Lingard, Martial, Lingard is not as great as that of Aguero, Silva, De Bruyne and Sterling.

I don't understand you again o. In one hand you're looking for Messi goals in international competition to determine his performance and in the other hand you're saying Di Maria out performed him by scoring much lesser goals than Messi in that same world cup. Even the one goal that Di Maria scored in the quarters, it was Messi that set him up.

Of what use will Rojo goal be if Messi had not scored when he did?
Di Maria was Argentina best player in that world cup, injury cut him short. He ought to have won the player of the world cup if he played to the end. Di Maria started or Assisted most of their goals.

Rojo's goal was more important than any goal score by Argentina in the last world cup.

Its not about what they achieved in the past its what they can do in the future

Having a young team going into the future is an advantage
e.g If you are a new coach will you take a team of 11 Arjen Robbens or 11 Leroy Sane's at the present
How old were these players in 2016?

De Bruyne
Sterling
Fernadino
Aguero
Silva
Otamendi

I would rather have these players to build on than having 6 Rashfords or Lingards or Herreras as my future.

He inherited a team of Joe Hart Sagna Zabaleta Kolarov Clichy Yaya Fernando Jesus Navas, Wilfred Bony, who were mostly old and unusable

How many games has Kompany played since due to age and injury? How is Otamendi that everyone laughed at a legend in the making?
Otamendi was not much better than Rojo at that time Can we also call Rojo and Blind legends in making?
Yaya Toure, Navas, Fernado, Kolarov, Bony, if given to United in 2016/2017 would have been starting games for us. Yaya Toure was still more active than Carrick at that time. Toure would still have benched Schnederlin. Fernado over Schnederlin any day. Navas would have been playing our right wing until we are able to upgrade.

These names shows the depth of the squad Guardiola inherited. No wonder they were doing well in Europe.

How many players have scored more international goals than Messi? The same legends at City you are referring to like Aguero is very useless for Argentina. That Messi did not score in those finals does not mean he didn't play well after all he was the one that took them there
Messi is not the one that took them there in all cases. In the 2014 world world cup, they would have been out earlier, Di Maria master class got them past the some difficult matches before he got injured. They would have been out before they got to the quarter final. The 2018 world cup, Rojo goal against Nigeria saved them from group stage elimination.

Messi is far less effective for Argentina than Barca. Case close.

Based on what you posted the images, Can we check where these players are now? Most of the players in City were old and had no value to any team

While Man Utd players are young and useful
The question should be, did United players win the league of finished above City? That City team won the league, always finished above United and got to the UCL semi final.

If it is by young age, Arsenal should have be winning UCL and EPL since 2008. They always have a young team. So I wonder when having a young team is an advantage. There are many bottom teams always having a young team.

That's a lie. Messi plays excellently for Argentina too. Don't mistake results for performance. We are not even talking about results but performance
How many times has Messi score hatrick in the world cup? How many final goals does he have for his national team (compared to final cup final goals for Barca). If Messi has been scoring 1 or 2 goals each in every final he plays, he would have won Argentina many trophies.

A team can make or mar a player. Every big star that has come to United since the exit of Vidic, Evra, Nani, Scholes, Ferdinand and Giggs have failed to perform. Perhaps it is looking worse now that Rooney has also retired to complete a total exit if the club legends.

But Guardiola inherited club legends like Aguero, Kompany. Even legends in the making like Fernadino, Otamendi Kevin De Bruyne and Sterling.

So when counting the players that Pep signed as part of his spending are we going to exclude JohnStones because it was advanced deal?

Citys core players were old.
E.g The typical City lineup was Hart, Zabaleta/Sagna, Otamendi, Kompany/Mangala, Clichy/Kolarov, Yaya, Fernando, Fernandinho, Navas, Silva, KDB Aguero

The bold players are either out or just bench players at this moment, So where are the inherited

Foe example the lineup in the CL semi vs Madrid is shown below. Only 3 of the 11 are core players now 2 Otamendi and Kompany are bench players the others have all been replaced.

So where are these key players that were good that he inherited. Silva was thought to be going downhill, Sterling was a joke in his first city and last Liverpool season
This team was far better than what we had. These were the most used players, and KDB despite on a long term injury was the 12th most used player.

It is easier to take such a decision when your team is performing

Which of Mourinho's signing is doing well at the moment? The most expensive midfielder, most expensive striker or the highest paid player in the league.

Now which of Pep signings is playing below average?
Sometimes it depends on the whole team, the foundation met on ground. Even Messi cannot replicate his performance in Barca for Argentina. Just imagine if Messi were to play for South Africa national team.

Sterling superhuman? Seriously? Is this how you rate players?

Ederson
Walker
LaPorte
Stones
Mendy
Delph
Guodogan
Mahrez
Jesus
Sane
Bernardo
Sterling

That's 12 players Pep bought that will start for Pep and he will have a very competitive team. He has had to do without Kompany, KDB, Silva, Aguero at some point for a short or long stretch and the team played very well. I'm not even talking about the result, but that they played very well

Now let's see what Mourinho did with his money?
Guardiola did not buy Sterling.

Again Guardiola did not have to do without all the star players at once.

Lastly, Pep has spent more than Mourinho both gross and net spending. The extra money could have made a difference. It is also not Mourinho's fault that when United show interest in a player, the transfer price double. This has made Woodward to lose out on the prime targets.

Otamendi was almost a sort of disaster during Pep' first year. Look at how improved he is now. Stones was mocked too. Look at their improvement and compare with the ones we had other Mourinho, for example, Jones. Any improvement?

Aguero was on his way out of the club. Only Silva, KDB and Fernadinho I can say were still sharp from before Pep.

I thought we were struggling because of LVG?
Otamendi was a disaster in his first season just like Vidic and Evra were. It didn't mean a Otamendi was not very good. Aguero has been the most consistent striker in EPL since he arrived. You always count on him, although injury limits his games below 30. But on goals per minutes played he is the best. Your excuse no hold water.

Sterling was a superhuman in Liverpool.

You cannot compare the 7 players I mentioned with our kidergaten players who were still being breast fed.

You just cannot compare a team that finished UCL semi final losing 0-1 on aggregate to Madrid, to a team which finished 5th in the league.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 1:11pm On Dec 21, 2018

Aguero
Silva,
Fernadino,
Otamendi,
Kevin De Bruyne
Sterling

Any coach who had the above players as bedrock to build a team will count himself the luckiest in England.

Dayo will always support Pep over Mou and it's normal for him to post that.

That said, a look at Pep first team shows he changed the entire back 4 + keeper, and the only remaining starting attacker is Aguero I think. He got Sane, Silva, Mahrez, Sterling, Jesus.

So it's even logical to say at time of resumption, Mourinho had a younger team which some can interpret for better.
Otamendi who has played a big role in stabilizing City defence and ensure a transition from Kompany to the current was not bought by Guardiola. Stones deal was advanced before the arrival of Guardiola.

I remember, my argument was clear and same, City core players were still sharp to ensure a transition to Guardiola. Aguero, Silva, Fernadino, Otamendi, Kevin De Bruyne etc. Kompany could still offer a solid one year at the time. Sterling was there.

You cannot argue we had a better team than City which won the league and finished fourth in UCL at a time we were struggling to finish in between 4th & 6th in the league.

Some clearly said better. It was Raumdeuter who started it by saying that Mourinho inherited a better team. I was surprised when some United fans supported him. Except may be those are not United fans because many change their moniker every time making it hard to identify certain people. But at least I know I still recognize some United fans who have kept their moniker or have not changed too frequently. Some are recognized from their posts history.

Those guys were fans of other clubs. I can’t recall any United fan saying that this squad was better than City’s squad.
If you have evidence of such you can post it.

Mourinho met poor players and bought poorer players.
The United train was on a fast track to nowhere and Mourinho has created a squad with too many mediocre players.

Why do you think people are clamouring for a DoF if not to improve the quality of the squad?

We need a DoF with connections who knows how to identify and go for the right players to suit the style of football Old Trafford is used to.

The manager that will be coming in June should at least be involved in identifying the kind of players he wants and the club should start setting the stage from January.

Wenger did this before he joined Arsenal in 1996 and Pep usually does the same thing too.
It was not only fans of other clubs who said United had a better set of players. I don't have the time to go search for evidence.

Yes very likely, but there are a few puzzling things in the kidnap scenario, how come the driver didn’t die and wasn’t kidnapped as well, usually the kidnappers would kidnap everyone on scene, unless the driver played dead, two how did the friend survive the hail of bullets. The coming days would unravel further details
When my uncle was kidnapped, the Fulani herdsmen killed the politician-a former LG chairman, selected the key local govt staff and took them captives. They allowed the drivers and low key workers to go. It was along Benin Ekpoma high way. The killed the politician because he tried to run after coming down from his car.

I believe there are two possible angles to this, the first is that they could have run into kidnappers who sprayed the vehicle with gunfire when they failed to stop and eventually kidnapped the other guy. The second scenario could be the so called friend is complicit and part of the plan to get Badeh in an unguarded position and silence him from spilling secrets.

And I don’t think the government is involved in this cos FG already has a solid case against him, his assets has been confisticated and various sums recovered from him, why would they want him dead?
It is clearly a case of failed kidnap of the former army chief. My opinion

It is not every club you go to and buy your type of players but when your man was spending half a billion Euro looking for his type of players you didn’t complain, actually you were criticizing the board for not supporting him enough.

So Mourinho could not use the players left by Van Gaal but the incoming manager must use the players left by Mourinho.

And you say you go to a Bible believing church?
Did I argue that Manchester United players were better than Manchester City players?

I argued from day one that our players were mixed with inexperienced players and not good enough players.

But there were many who were posting such comments that our team was better than a City team that won the league a year earlier, finished in the semi final of the UCL. I told them we didn’t have the likes of Aguero, Fernadinho, Silva, De Bruyne, Kompany, Sterling to build upon. They were relying on the highly inexperienced Rashford, Martial, etc

This one people are saying we should get a player who can win aerial balls, this player to play so so position. That to be sold.

Why not wait for the new coach to start utilising the players so that we assess how they fit in? It has been like this since 2014 with every coach. There are always people wanting certain players out. Particularly when Van Gaal came, some players were tagged robots and too unintelligent to fit into Prof Luiz Van Gaal ball control style. At the end, those so called intelligent ones like Chicharito, Rafael, Evans, Zaha, were unable to cope, and were being sold.

Manchester City as at the level currently. Liverpool is almost there. Manchester United was like that with squad 2008.

Anyway, my own is a prayer for the new coach to succeed without many excuses. Since Moyes, it has been "I am rebuilding"
