Your ignorance is top-notch. I have to give it to you. How dare you call a 100% unadulterated judaic names, Christian names. When did christianity start?  People have been bearing those names thousands of years BC. So, what are you talking about. Infact, it's people who practice Judaism that should bear such names. Correct me if I'm wrong, I've never come across the word "christianity" in the Bible.
This is kinda dumb to be honest.

1. They are adulterated Hebrew names. . . hence the fact that they're spelt and pronounced differently according to the language.
2. They are names with biblical ties . . . are we seriously going to try to separate Christianity from the Bible?

@eldee
So, names like James, Jeremiah, Jesus are christian names? Pls explain, because the ignorance being displayed on this thread is legendary.
The fact that they're English translations of Jewish names is a side-issue. . . their origins are from Christianity, and the intention of most people that use them as names for their kids are Christian values.

Now Christianity and the act of being religious is a big part of modern Nigerian culture, there's nothing wrong with names like James and John in my opinion.
CultureRe: Do We Actually Need English Names by eldee(m): 9:42pm On Sep 04, 2011
This issue has been over-flogged. . .most times when Nigerians use this names, they're tied to religion.
It is ignorant and inherently selfish to claim that using a name like Michael is to deprive a Nigerian of his identity.

If we talk about Nigerian identity, religion is a big part of it. And yes, accept it or not, Christianity is a big part of Nigerian Identity, that's why Pastor E.A Adeboye is the most influential Nigerian.

And let's then come back to it, why should my identity as an African any less prominent than yours because my name is James?

So I speak Yoruba, I live in Lagos, we watch the same NTA News, face the same issues, share the same Nigerian friends, eat the same type of food, have the same ceremonial rites for marriages, burials, birthdays, etc . . . but you're more Nigerian than I am because your name is Oluwaniyomitoriawonotalemisugbonwonrimimu??
The idea is hilarious, and a lil daft.

I guess Nelson Mandela is less South African because his name is not Mulabonda Mandela.

And isn't it hypocritical to see nothing wrong with the Hausa people naming themselves Mohammed and Fatima, but to start a WWIII because an Igbo guy is called James.

This is just daft, so now they got the fixtures out of no where?? I lost even without knowing who I was playing against.
Isn't the whole point of the H-2-H the fact that you can spy and concentrate on one opponent every week?? This sucks.

We are aware of some temporary problems with scores in some leagues. These are being worked on and will be resolved as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

This is annoying, they're killing the buzz this early.

They've got a message there bout how'll they'll rectify it, this is just annoying.

I think we should vote for a back up Fantasy League if these things continue. . . Sky offers one, Facebook too and a couple of other ones.

Why?? Abeg let's leave the hate and get the three points jare. . .even if it won't earn him a standing ovation.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by eldee(m): 7:21pm On Aug 17, 2011
The rule is obviously out of touch with modern technology. If it were a long ban, won't it be easy to have Wenger voice recordings of Wenger talking to his assistants played to the players during the half time break for every match?

And it's becoming prevalent these days, footie bodies are becoming slaves to the media.
Remember the Mourinho thing too with the red cards for Ramos and Alonso. They let TV cameras and press ramblings decide for them.
Same thing, as you said with Eduardo.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by eldee(m): 5:28pm On Aug 17, 2011
@4llebruntu

UEFA bans are different, you don't get to even talk to your players before the match. . . I remember when Mourinho was allegedly smuggled to the training pitch for Chelsea years ago in a laundry van.

@Debosky

I am less acerbic than you think, I'm prolly overdoing it. Even the dictionary definition of that word dey confuse person.
If you saw where this started from, I suggested the idea, knowing that people will argue their points before I made a decision.

Leaving it purely on Yes/No answers will probably not cover key issues, so I scan through and see what arguments stand out and play the role of the mediator between the two.
I think this works better, but it obviously doesn't so I'll just let pple decide.

You dey mind am?
Isn't Wenger famously the guy that brought the modern scientific approach to the EPL?
This guy obviously knows more than the whole of Arsenal's physio team + Wenger. . .Same way Coogar FC has better scouts than Arsenal.

He's seeing from here what the medical staff with their years of training and experience can't see.

Let's take votes abeg. If you guys don't want me to continue moderating the Fantasy Leagues, just say it.
I'll step down . . . and please say it before Saturday so if Ritchboy wins he can decide if he wants to restart the league or not.

And also, there are three reasons why I won't set up a thread poll.

1. This is just one of the tens of issues we'll face, we only get one poll on the thread and that's it.
2. A poll will be open to everyone not just the league members, i.e Ritchboy will come and vote for a restart using his 59 new IDs.
3. It's more logical to argue out our points on the thread, we get to reach compromises and not extremes.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Nairaland Fantasy Premier League 2011/2012 by eldee(op): 7:33am On Aug 17, 2011
Okay just for everyone to see that Ritchboy is just using Vieira's case as a cloak, he's really only pissed off about the fact that everyone got a wildcard.
He was probably the first to know about the cancelled matches.

He wants me to restart the league because the free Wildcard disrupted his 'strategies'. He feels like his planning is more important than yours, so he should get special treatment for that.

I don't think anyone here wants us to restart the league because of Ritchboy's strategies. . . but if I get 20 people that feel the same way, I'll reconsider. grin grin
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Nairaland Fantasy Premier League 2011/2012 by eldee(op): 7:25am On Aug 17, 2011
Wrong, it didn't affect everyone. And the people it did affect it affected to different degrees. Everyone got unlimited transfers, both the un/slightly-affected and the majorly-affected, so that is no consolation. Anyone with a functional cerebrum should be able to decipher this, it's embarrassing that i have to repeat it over and over.
If the only person that can really come out and say it really affected him is Vieira . . . and he's said he's cool with continuing, I don't know why Bitchboy is still on his period.

Just like your 50 points means fuckall to me. It's not more important than other peoples strategies, but unlike other strategies it has been shot down by the unlimited transfers.
Oh . . . I get it now, you don't like the free wildcard they gave us this Gameweek?? Go Bleep yourself.
I don't care about your strategies, why would I care if it has been shot down by unlimited transfers?? You see how daft you sound?
Why should I malign sumone that played the game purely based on a lucky gamble because of you? If you stepped back just once and used your brain, then this wouldn't be difficult to see.

Mugu, i knew about it before anyone else so go sniff a skunk's arse! In fact if i didn't share it most people wouldn't even know about it right now cos they didn't send any notification.
Oh you saw it and you were willing to hide it, so that proves that I'm being selfish?? undecided undecided
That aside, you accused me of being selfish, but I suggested a restart as soon as I saw the offer from the EPL.

My friend go back and read again, MY major gripe has always been people with Dzeko, Cahill, Bosingwa etc getting free transfers and the 1M i saved counting for shyte.

You're saying it's not unfair that Vieira couldn't log in and ended up with three Everton players
And I've said, as long as you weren't stopped from buying players, no one gives a Bleep bout your major gripe. Individual strategy concerns are not my business, even the FPL didn't put that in their letter.

And now you pad it up with the 'people like Vieira' argument. . . I refuse to discuss Vieira's case with you, just to show everyone that you're only after your selfish gains.

Apples vs oranges. A game getting cancelled is no different than the player(s) you have in the team getting injured. How you have tried to equate that with people being unable to change their teams for the very first GW and the ramifications of giving everyone unlimited transfers for the second must be the eight wonder of the world.
A game got cancelled . . . and all the EPL has apologised for is bout 18 hours of you not being able to remove Bale or Coleman. . . it's happened before(on Saturday mornings during winter, I'm a witness) , it will happen again.

The option to restart the league has been there since forever, I won't restart it everytime it does happen.

ritchboy:
No, you should restart the league because my planning ahead has been rubbished by "technical difficulties".
And the technical difficulties affected everyone, the FPL recognised this and gave you an extra chance to plan ahead. . . again.
Maybe you didn't get it, your planning ahead means fuckall to me . . . it's not more important than anyone else' gamble.

ritchboy:
Which special treatment? Do you even know what the term means huh

Resetting the league means everyone can start on a level playing field, not with 30-50 point UNFAIR advantage. Or are you denying it's not an unfair advantage? How is this even debatable undecided

I see you also had a decent score so i'm not even bothered debating with you again, restart the league or prepare for rebellion! cheesy
I suggested the reset thing before you did so STFU.

Who got the unfair advantage? Me? Lighthouse? I really don't get this. . . because the complaint before was that people missed out on last minute changes, especially to Everton and Tottenham players (a game that had been cancelled since Tuesday).
Now it's slowly moving to, 'I planned ahead'
. . . others didn't, and you say that's not asking for special treatment?

So when winter forces games to be cancelled, I'll have to restart the league again for a 'level playing field'? Guy, go call your Naeto-C forces maynne, I go Ghaddafi all of una. grin grin
