Squad: Goalkeepers: Austin Ejide (Bastia/FRA), Dele Aiyenugba (Bnei Yehuda/ISR), Vincent Enyeama (Hapoel Tel Aviv/ISR) Defenders: Rabiu Afolabi (Sochaux/FRA), Danny Shittu (Watford/ENG), Onyekachi Apam (OGC Nice/FRA), Obinna Nwaneri (FC Sion/SWI), Joseph Yobo (Everton/ENG), Ifeanyi Emeghara (Steaua Bucharest/ROM), Kingsley Udoh (Akwa United), Efe Ambrose (Kaduna United), Taye Taiwo (Marseille/FRA) Midfielders: Seyi Olofinjana (Wolves/ENG), Dickson Etuhu (Sunderland/ENG), Richard Eromoigbe (Levski Sofia/BUL), John Mikel Obi (Chelsea/ENG), Sani Kaita (Sparta Rotterdam/NED), Onyekachi Okonkwo (FC Zurich/SWI), Yusuf Ayila (Dynamo Kyiv/UKR), Lukman Haruna (Crystal Academy), Rabiu Ibrahim (Sporting Lisbon/POR), Oladapo Olufemi (Boavista/POR) Strikers: Nwankwo Kanu, John Utaka (Portsmouth/ENG), Osaze Odemwingie (Lokomotiv Moscow/RUS), Mannaseh Ishiaku (MSV Duisburg/GER), Ikechukwu Uche (CF Getafe/SPA), Yakubu Aiyegbeni (Everton/ENG), Ayodele Makinwa (SS Lazio/ITA), Obinna Nsofor (Chievo Verona/ITA), Obafemi Martins (Newcastle/ENG) I saw this team list on TV on Sky and I was like is this some team for a friendly match or is this seriously what we are taking over to the Nation's Cup. It is now totally obvious that Nigerians players have lost their reputation for being top players in top European clubs. The period when we had two Champion's League winnin players (Kanu and Finidi), Juventus first team player(Sunday Oliseh) and the problem of how to get our players to get passes from their big clubs to come for friendlies. This problem I believe comes from the fact that Nigeria in recent years have not been prominent and eye-catching African teams in the World-Cup. Ask Holland if they are not still suffering from not going to 2002 World Cup. Getting grouped with France and Italy is enough punishment. No matter how hard we try to hide it, a player that hits well in the World Cup, no matter how bad his team is has an added advantage when he is placed in the transfer market. There are just a few coaches that go out of their way to go watch players in the small European Leagues. Why do we need players in the Super Leagues?-Top Teams have top coaches that bring out the best in the players. -Bigger Clubs mean more popularity for players and more people want to watch us. -The higher the potential viewers, the higher the marketability. -The country's international reputation is linked to the number of star players they recognise(Take Mali as a case study) -We surely need that reputation to get other teams to fear us. Now, I'm already visualising the hardship I'll have to pass through to see the Super Eagles on ESPN. Now that we have only them QPR and Southampton players in the team. The job's real hard for Vogts since he has decided that the only players he wants to monitor are those in the German league. |
@dason4life Point taken, u make your choices. Thanks for making it plain and not giving excuses eg 'arsenal plays crap football' like others |
Like ur pose and everythin but are u sure that pole won't fall |
@buffhead I'm begining to suspect that ur Ogunjobi, why are you defending them, your country's football association is getting money from the government and after our cries, they now recieve numerous sponsorship deals and we can't boast of a website for the FA not to talk about the League. But when the President said he wanted a report of how they spent the money they got last year, they started shaking. So after using the taxpayers'/landowners' money for unmentioned things, we still have to go and build a website for them. We play better football than South Africa but see thier website. http://www.safagoal.net/ |
rotflmao so stop behavin' like a crossbreed of a Horse and a Monkey That's really funny but I think u should have posted that ur not a soccer fan ages ago. Anyways nice one digging up that myth that travelled fast without the aid of technology. I think it's stood strong because our parents helped in passing it down to us. And like the story of the tortoise falling and breaking his back, we always trusted them. It sounds funny hearing that u went on youtube to search for that, just imagine if it was real, u'll be watching 101 goals, lol and seeing footballs turning into stones, |
Hmmnn, bout the three of em Kemistry- I used to wonder why she never got promoted to Silverbird tv till I saw her face and decided, okay maybe it's not only because of her talent at radio presentations. Azeezat- I think she's ugly for a reason, damn, I have a feeling young children are scared of her. But for Zeal, she reigns as the wowo chapion and the way she goes about thinking she's Naija's Ciarra is not fair on the general public, I'll go for Zeal though I believe they all are bonafide winners. |
In my own opinion best buy is value for money, Torres is scoring but it's not yet time to call him a good buy until he hits the twenty goal mark. For goodness sake, he ws bought for over twenty million, that's enough to buy four Sagnas or three Elanos into ru team. I think the best buy for now is Elano. |
@poster This is a proven case of why i-tunes should be banned. Some dude gets a track cause it's 99c starts listening to it and is inspired to start talking jacksh*t bout legends. I don't know how you expected to say this and make pple agree wiv you. It's a pity the frendz u was arguing wiv are not yonkers. I swear down, that would have been ur closest to a 'Happy Ending' |
Err, the last time I saw them, they were drawing wiv a 15thplaced premiership team in the UEFA Cup |
where? |
Err, oby why is ur number of posts 419? |
I don't know why y'all are commenting on Ruggedman, the topic is about the video, The video is arguably the most creative video a nigerian artise has made this year, the radio listeners with the chamge in sound showed that the director could take some risks and it turned out puuurrfect. It get a little monotonous towards the end though. And nice will pass for a real praise singer anyday. Overall the video is tight, and no naked girls in it for modenine to center on. |
@pheesayor I agree with you on the fact that Hiphop world are not the bad guys in this case. I was just commenting on what sumone said that Hiphop World is affiliated to Kennis. They can't be his haterz because he even got nominations at their awards ceremony. They are just doing their job as the voice of Nigerian Hiphop. And giving the nigerian public a very good topic to discuss for the moment instead of 'Rugged Vs Modenine' or 'Who is the best Nigerian Producer'. There is no news like bad news Celebrity business is not like the American justice system. It's 'Guilty Until Proven Innocent' Nigerian Celebs need to get educated on this from the masters like Britney Spears Did anyone hear that her crap album is climbing the charts. He needs to clear up everyfin on time for him not to lose the almost-religious followership he gathered with Faze-Alone. In my own opinion, a thirty minute press conference in this boiling moment is more important to him than a music video. This could go either way now, a quick press conference or an update to his website(Which can be done inbetween his video shoot and gets more clicks on his site) will not only help in restoring his name but also help in boosting his sales for the new video release. He doesn't even need to tell the truth, just an 'Everything will be sorted out' statement is wht the press needs at this current period of time. A stitch in time saves a million copies. Akon himself is the main badguy in this case. it all boils down to the way our artistes need to boost their egos in the world of entertainment. A similar case happened to on Sierria-Leonan guy that allegedly wrote the Blood Diamonds track. He was there not getting attention while Kanye was gettin Awards for the song. Can Akon try what he did in the US? An interview for disclaiming an artiste will not be just a simple Three minute thingy anywhere in the world. Akon needs to come out clean and not keep 120 million nigerians in suspense. |
You blame BBC didn't u see what The Sun did to him |
k, we get it u won we lost, let's all move on, the our next goal is to prove we can stand up after been shot. |
The real problem that comes with the growth of the Nigerian music industry is what is showing now. As Ruggedman said after the 50cent V Eedris incident, the problem is communication. I begin to actually wonder what Faze' website was actually built for, Instead of him telling us bout the Akon thingy, he's telling us about how he used to sing in the shower when he was five years old, Can't he just learn from the international celebs he's trying to emulate, take Vannesa Hudgens, immediately her nude picture thingy came out, she went straight to her website and apologised to the public for everything. Faze is taking his fans as dummies, what does it take to call Akon and straighten everything out, release a full press statement or at least an 'errtin will be okay statement' and the press will have sumfin to dwell on. Another matter we should consider is the Hiphopworld factor. I don't think it is correct to say that they could be lying against Faze. Afterall, he got so many nominations at their awards ceremony. They are just doing the job that gives them their money, pity this did not happen here in the UK, the press will have made it much bigger than this. Respect to Hiphopworld for digging up a controversy that is somewhat missing in Nigerian entertainment. I get tired of always seeing profiles describing how good Psquare is or an interview with Modenine. One wonders what Akon has to say about all this |
