Hahahaha.

I have deliberately disengaged myself from this thread. If mentions were bullets, I would not have survived last night's shooting. You know I'm still a student under you Na cheesy

You baptized me with Tsunami. I'm trying to shake it off and be a gentle storm.

Hope you're settled now?

Hahahahahahaah I'm still a silent fan of the Tsunami though.

Still trying to settle jare. How are you?

I found a flight through Wakanow. It was surprisingly easy and cheap. In fact it was about 30% cheaper than what agents were quoting for me.

I was skeptical at first. I wasn't sure Wakanow was legitimate but it is.

lol...you wanted to use agents for flight booking again

@All, please I'm now an agent and I'm just a pm away cheesy cheesy cheesy

OK, thanks. I'll check for myself when I set my eyes on both stuff issued by NIMC.

I think this all boils down to the risk appetite of a bank. There are banks that still refuse NIMC temporary slip for correct account opening process because their risk appetite is low. I know that for not verifying an ID before account opening, the branch is liable to 2mn. That's what CBN pockets for one small oversight as this.

I think I've said enough on this thread. I am not the OP yet the mentions I've gotten if translated to money, I wouldn't be complaining. Since it isn't,

I'm complaining.

So, in your mind now, you are feeling fly...

Well, I am glad you are coming up, hun.

See the post I made sometimes ago below imperioux made mention of ultramobile or so, you can check them out too. If you have a GA or you will be receiving monthly deposit of not less than $200 I think, Bank of America checking account is the best for me, no charge, nothing. But if you wont be receiving monthly deposit in the account you plan to open, each month you dont receive a deposit you will be charged $25. In that case you can check wells fargo too but I have no ideal about there service. And mind you account in the US do enter negative and you will be charged $35 for each overdraft.

Thanks for this, Femi. It came in handy. BOA, it is

What if there are more approvals but unfortunately most of those denied there are on this thread and thereby we think Abuja is extremely tough

You may be right. However, I feel Nairaland is a fair forum to carry out random sampling selection and more importantly, hypothesis testing.

So, if most people from a particular location get the same result from the same exercise, it is not out of order to form an opinion based on this trend.

Nothing special about Abuja. There's a lot you can't deduce from visa transcript and you know.

Agreed. But the rate of denials lately in that location is alarming.

As it stands, I think those who got their visas approved in Abuja are the "real MVP's".

ETSU is the school. I got accepted in all the schools I applied to (BGSU inclusive), but it seems funds had finished by the time I applied. I applied late, like very late.

I was at Lagos Consulate this morning. I was slated for 6:30am so, I had to leave home very early. I got to the Consulate around 5:45am.
Security checks lasted like forever but alas, I got into the interview hall.
Initially, white papers were flying left, right and center but, this changed later as blue papers were also coming out.
My interview was quite short and the VO (in his late 40’s) was pleasant and nice.

Transcript below;
VO: Hello, good morning
Me: Good morning Sir

VO: Pass me your passport, I-20 and SEVIS payment confirmation page
Me: **Passed it**

VO: What are you going to study in the US?
Me: I am going for MS study in Math

VO: Why did you choose this particular school over others?
Me: I am going to the school for 3 major reasons. First, the school offered me a full GTA with tuition waiver and monthly stipends. (*** VO cuts in)

VO: How did you get the assistantship?
Me: The members of the committee in charge of selection for assistantship were quite impressed with my profile and previous academic and professional achievement.

VO: Which other schools did you apply to?
Me: 3 other schools – UNI, BGSU and UL Lafayette (Stated all in full with their respective cities and states)

VO: Tell me about the MS program.
Me: The MS program is a flexible program that focuses on key math areas like Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Applied Math and Operations Research.

**VO typed for some seconds and then gave me the white paper.
**Me smiled and left the hall immediately.

I appreciate everyone on this thread for their wonderful tips. Special shout out to @tolutweety, @profojah1234, @texrem @oludare01, @jesusbabygirl, @libber, @toakins, @folsy, @femi321, @happyday, and everyone who has contributed to this great thread.

Tips
1. If you have funding, state it as one of your reasons for going to the school. I feel this worked for me;
2. Be bold and confident. This cannot be overemphasized;
3. Prepare, prepare and prepare - know your stuff (your course, your program structure etc);
4. Please don’t cram. Just go there and chat with the VO. The interview is nothing out of the ordinary.

Good luck, people and see you at the top.
