Durentt: i kno of d labour market more than most graduates. I mak researches, i kno wat z happening out there. Engineering is not hw it used to be neither is mathematics, a math graduate don't end up teaching. One of my uncle read engineering, chemical while the other read mathematics. If u see dem today, d difference is clear. Goodnight to u too bro, but am continuing arguing here tomorrow. I think I understand where you get your gbegiri and ewedu theory from . kindly stop the shallow generalisation . Good morning . |

Durentt: i am sure verysure with a good grade in BSc and/or masters. I'll secure a well-paid job. Not luck but bcuz i read mathematics. You are talking bout engineering firm? firms dat are lookin for a wäy to remove some workers!! Trash I will continue this argument when you join the favour market , you will understand better ... Enjoy your night bro. |

Durentt: my mathematicians are hot cakes hotter than engineers. Why do u think she made such comment? She went to d labour market nd confirmed dat mathematicians are more at more advantage of getting employed. Maybe u are one of those lucky engineering student dat graduated nd found job easily if not u wud hav regretted not studying maths. Oh this guy you no go kee Me with laugh oo > . Wait a minute , if we both apply to banks or audit firm then you might have a upper hand . if you dare talk about the same thing in engineering firm , you are a joke . Yes I am lucky to have secured employment after school the same way anybody who is working in Nigeria is lucky . I pray you are lucky too. I would advise you tear off the thought of your course of study winning you an automatic employment . |

Durentt: Really? Then wat did she mean? She clearly stated dat if she knew earlier, she wud hav read maths. After graduation, her eyes opened But u can't show me one mathematics graduate wishing to hav done engineering. Not one Are you saying maths is more of hot cake in Nigeria than engineering , I don't understand . What she said is practically not applicable to every to be engineer out there .I know of engineering dude that are doing well. There five years was never a waste , I am also a living witness . What I have achieved today won't have been possible if I opted for maths and I believe you will say the same thing . |

elantraceey: Electrical /electronics engineering.
I'm in my finals and aside from being a little grounded in the theorical aspect when it comes to practical what I know are things I learnt during my industrial training.
In 100l we did science courses 200l all engineering courses 300l a mixture of Mech and eee courses. 400l just a semester of electrical and electronics courses then in final year you just a semester to major in your main field whether electrical or electronics, now please tell me what one can possibly learn in 3 months alongside project. I understand your plight .the university system is just like that . it's a different story here , I drop all my borrowed course right from ND1 though I finished with mathematics English and economics .I have been majoring in electronics since my second year . Let me tell you the truth , there is no school in Nigeria that will teach you to match with your electrical counterpart across the world , same goes for every course taught in Nigeria institution . you need to do more of self coaching and practicals . |

Durentt: bro hear it frm d mouth of an engineering graduate. I bet you'll say d sam wen u graduate I am graduate of electrical and I am practising , my years in the polytechnic has never been a waste . why don't you ask me what gave birth to my question . There are some engineering courses one can take from our crappy universities and polytechnics that can never be a waste of time except you thought you would be spoon fed before being admitted . |

iWise: My good friend, you just displayed a weakness inherent in math capabilities of a lot of engineers. Maths ain't about solving problems, its all about understanding concepts involving numbers, space AND quantities. A mathematician's prerogative is not about how to utilize these concept. We are more concerned about their existence, structure and implications. I was expecting you would be favored with my admittance . It's a nice time bro. |

elantraceey: Indices and logarithm ? please which university ? I agree we don't do as much 'pure mathematics' we do advanced mathematics. Though I wish I applied for mathematics instead of engineering because reading engineering in Nigeria is almost like wasting five years of as you only learn little that you can't even stand in the society and boast you're an engineer without using your certificate to back you up except you step out and learn things yourself May I know the aspect of engineering you are majoring at and why you think it's a wasted five years . |

iWise: At least, you are honest. i'll give you that. I dare say you need to expend a lot more brain power to study maths especially in the advanced levels. The reason is not far from the fact a lot of what you do as a mathematician is conceptual. Mind you, i ain't talking about the crap they teach in undergrad classes. In the same class of reasoning I dare tell you that engineering is not as physical as you see it . take for example analysing electromagnetic wave in free space is crazy but fact oriented . I have a elder brother that studied mathematics and I can tell you I am no match with him when it comes to maths but I can tell you I will solve many of the maths he can give solution to. |

Chrisx1x: application indeed.abeg park well jor.engineers in Nigeria only knows about principles.u guys should wake up and stop this deceit.u also spend years studying abstract ideas.a prof of mec engineering who cant repair his car is not fit to be called an engineer.period Can you deem it fit to tell us any special invention by you in your course of study , if mathematics tell us the new things you discovered studying maths .if you can not please sit at the back when we are done you can come and wipe off the board . |

iWise: Using Z transforms as an example, a mathematician is not interested in how you apply this to the study of electrical signals, we are more concerned about the nature of their region of convergence etc etc. A concept I believe is alien to most Naija engineers. Okay let's both get it clear . mathematician we all know can give you how one plus one becomes two, engineers on the other hand care much about not just seeing one plus one as two but how applicable this addition could effect its surroundings . The reason why engineers don't dig in to mathematics from scracth like you do is apparently because we have got resistor , capacitors gears etc to research about . I don't know where π ÷×√ came from the same way you don't know how resistors capacitors and diode are machined to give you that phone you are using to claim dominance . Thank you |

iWise: The funny thing about your statement is that, if I'm to start a conversation with you involving differential equations, Laplace transforms, Fourier transforms, Fourier series and Zeta transforms, you prolly wouldn't understand shit about what I am saying. Why don't you start and mind less if I will comprehend or not . if you have got point to prove , prove it and stop this show of chest beating . |

Alfred234: Am not doubting the fact that you can do those topics I mentioned but one thing I know is that most Engineering students can't do it and even when they attempt it its more of cramming. And why do you think maths student are not guilty of cramming ? . most of the fundamentsls of mathematics are not provable . And the first principle is all lie from the graph to the equation . |
Education › Re: Why Do Engineering Students Brag To Know Maths More Dan Mathematics Students by Electronzeez(m): 6:39pm On Jan 03, 2016 |
Alfred234: Engineering students can never know maths than mathematics students because they only do few math courses... They think its about those little Algebra,Vectors and Real Analysis. They should come and do maths like Line integral, Differential equations, Laplace transform e.t.c they will confess that Jesus is lord. Math no be beans, Am now doing statistics as my major I can't kill myself plus statistics has more job advantage than mathematics in a country like Nigeria. A typical mathematics student. If you must brag about topics in mathematics don't brag with differential equation Laplace transformation, fourier series , these are topics meant for engineers . Abeg brag with maths we I never do before. |

donhils: Pin is not a form of password. Pin is pin, password is password. Pin uses only numbers while with password, you can have an alphanumeric combination or only alphabets as you wish. For me I prefer pin. Patterns are just so annoying to draw atimes. But I'll easily choose a one time fingerprint scanner over all of them . You are correct sir , can't the word password be used as a general term ?, I could not get another word suitable when i gave that reply . |

nairalandbuzz: In the hacker community, closed application are more targeted cos they charge for it and thy have many loopholes. If they have a loophole like in windows phone OS, they would report it to windows and wait till windows declare it and then fix it. It is called a zero day vulnerability.
If it were to be open source, you have the right to fix it urself and report back to the community with an already working solution for them to fix and upgrade all over. That is why Android is everywhere... HTC, Samsung, Sony, Infinix, Huawei, Tecno... most phone companies got their own version of it.
Look at Internet Explorer and Firefox for example... Nobody would dare go for IE cos of its lame excuses here and there but they started way before Firefox and look at the upgrades Firefox has got over the years... Their release logs would show you how much people from all over the world are helping in developing Firefox by providing fixes and codes... That is why it is open.
Open is the way forward. Linux that is free is declared the best OS in terms of security.
Hope I have helped a bit. Cerebral remarks for this piece sir. But I am still convince open source has it advantage when it require upgrading and improving its features, close source on the other hand has hers with security . Your Intel is first hand but I will need you to explain why apple product are much secure than android .thanks. |
