Car Talk / Re: Why Is My Honda City Revving Itself.help Pls by elektra80: 8:05am On Oct 19, 2013 |
lomomike: @lomomike some Honda city have Intelligence-dual and sequential Ignition (I-DSI).Which means 2 spark plugs are employed in each cylinder making a total of 8 spark plugs instead of 4. This ensures utilizing every drop of fuel thrown into the cylinders leading to better mpg. So op, check the plugs again, make sure they are OEM recommended and don't remove any of the plugs like someone suggested. Also for the D light flashing, scan the car and post the codes. Might be a solenoid on the gearbox or probably u need to change the ATF. as for the jerking, a lot of things can cause this, not just plugs. Might be fuel pump, maf sensor, rocker arm actuator, etc. So u need to scan ur car. 1 Like |

All those people wey dey put up such threads I dey wonder if dem get work at all? Bro I tire o. Imagine that one that said Toyota is the best and that they are succeeding. Abeg help me ask am if they put up Toyota yaris against an Audi A4 of the same year which one he go pick? How can someone generalize things like this. So if Nokia sells 1,000 crap phones and apple sells 500 iPhones, does that mean Nokia are making better business than apple? |

I'm also a DIY guy, but things I can't do myself I give to mechanics and tell them exactly what I want them to do with close monitoring. Even if u call ur manufacturers customer service about a problem with ur car, first they will try see if it can be solved on the phone, if not.. Then they will ask u to take ur car to the garage |

Car Talk / Re: I Changed Engine Oil And Resulted To Blinking Of Symbols by elektra80: 3:06pm On Oct 15, 2013 |
For ur second generation Toyota Tacoma, follow these easy steps and u will get it done. 1. Turn ur ignition on ( don't start the car, put the key to on position where the dashboard light shows but not starting car) 2. Press and hold the trip reset button 3. Turn the ignition off while still holding the trip reset button. 4. Now turn the ignition back on while still holding the trip reset button, wait for a few seconds and the maintenance required light will flash and go off. (don't release the trip reset button until the maintenance required light goes off). 5. Shout out if this works |
Car Talk / Re: Most Expensive Cars! Are These Cars Really Worth The Prices? by elektra80: 12:31pm On Oct 15, 2013 |
Nobody is forcing anybody to buy these cars. If I have the money I will, definitely get one, I mean who no like better things. About justifying the price, if a bottle of champagne can cost £1.2million (taste of diamond by Alexander amosu),( I saw wizkid holding a bottle of this same champagne on his birthday ), so tell me why can't an exotic car cost the same? These cars are hand made carefully by experts, they are not ur regular cars that are mass produced. So yes they are worth the price. 1 Like |

Car Talk / Re: I Need Your Feedback On Ford Windstar 2001-2003 by elektra80: 11:39pm On Oct 14, 2013 |
Itulah: @op, seriously why the face? Were u expecting such a van of that size to have the same mpg as a corolla or a civic? U know energy is required to drag that van and that means more fuel. That thing got a 3.8L engine. You better go get urself Nissan micra or Hyundai i10 if fuel economy is what u so care about. |
Car Talk / Re: 99 Camry Engine by elektra80: 9:25pm On Oct 14, 2013 |
I don't know much about Toyota so I stand to be corrected. Yes 1999 Toyota Camry has more than one engine type. I believe u are talking about 4 cylinder here, hence the S. The 3S-FE is a 2.0L engine which is found in most Asia models while the 5S-FE is a 2.2L engine found in American and Australian models. Since most camrys on Nigerian soil are imported from America, u hardly find one with 2.0L 3S-FE engines. However, many parts dealers import their parts from Japan, that is why when u are buying a tokunbo engine for ur Camry then u can get the 2.0L 3S-FE engine readily available. |

Also what is the state of ur Volvo? Are ur o2 sensors working properly? Do u have a check engine light on? What about ur tyres. Lastly what mpg do u get that makes u think its drinking fuel . |

ganagagi: Out of these two cars which one is the best toyota camry vs nissan altima You do realize there are about 7 generations of Toyota Camry beginning from 1982 and 5 generations of Nissan Altima beginning from 1993. Can u give me a good reason to buy this car for 3.2m? Pls convince me because I don't see anything special about this 4 cyl fabric seat ugly car. I would rather buy a matrix for half the price, at least its got AWD option. Or better still a murano, a 2010 accord or Camry, highlander, a 2007 Toyota Siena.. All cost less than this |

freshkunzy: dnt buy it...used d car for a year n i swear it was a very bad 1... maintainance is expensive....parts re expensive...d car always ve mechanical issues If everybody thinks like u, then we will all be driving a Toyota corolla or Hyundai i10. I mean what did u expect from an SUV, same maintenance as corolla? My very close friend has owned a 2007 model for 2 years now and it hasn't given him any major problems. Yes parts are expensive but then tell me any car in its class that has cheap parts? @ op, Just use recommended parts and atf and service ur car accordingly and u won't have a problem. Imagine someone driving a BMW x5 and uses abro ATF. That is what we are facing in this country and tomorrow they will say don't buy the car due to transmission failure . when u have a check engine light on, scan the car and fix the problem, don't wait until the car breaks down. If u do these u will enjoy the car. My friend can't stop praising his murano. The 2007 model is last of its generation and most of the problems have been fixed . 1 Like |
Car Talk / Re: Ban On Importation Of Tokunbo Cars: What You Should Know by elektra80: 11:25pm On Oct 07, 2013 |
oluboyo04: i'm stil surprized nigerians are protesting against the reduction or facing out of tokunbo cars in nigera, after its becoming almost imposible to move freely on the street due to fleets of rickety cars being packed everywhere.holdup is now everywhere in nigeria, people dying in hundreds everyday through accidents, our roads are deplorable not because govts are not trying their best, but if the road is repaired today, one tokunbo car will breakdown there tomorow and spoil it again. many families have two or three tokunbo cars, causing congestion. why not own one but correct car. lets change our thinking, development does not come on the plata of gold. I don't get u. So even if u buy a new car, and then 4 yrs later u get tired of it, are u going to burn it and buy another one.. Or u gonna sell it? Then in that case it also becomes a used car. And what makes u think a car manufactured in Nigeria and sold for 1.2m brand new will be safer or last longer than a 10 years old tokunbo car? I think govt should review the policy... Maybe ban the importation of cars older than 10 yrs, that would be a better policy. Then work on building plants to manufacture cars, then with time when indigenous cars have flourished they can ban tokunbo cars finally. |
Car Talk / Re: Ban On Importation Of Tokunbo Cars: What You Should Know by elektra80: 11:16pm On Oct 07, 2013 |
360command: This is a good plan if govt are to finalize the ban on importation of tokunbo(second hand) cars in Nigeria. With time, there will be car reduction of second hand cars on the street as various alternative of transportation(public) starts increasing with lots of people using it(we hope the govt improves the public transportation to cater for the increased masses). Also, it paves way for automobile industry to come into the Nigerian market and start manufacturing cars, buses etc. just like what is happening in Mexico. did it occur to u that the new cars that will be manufactured and sold for 1.2m will soon become second hand one day, and might not last up to 3 years before becoming rickety? Second hand cars are everywhere, in the us, UK, etc. The difference is they have good roads and good maintenance culture and they can use a car for 20 yrs and car still drives like new. Now when u import a very nicely built car say a 2003 Toyota Camry into the country, that is a 10 ur old car and u can still use it in Nigeria for another 5 yrs or so... Compare that to a cheap car manufactured here and sold for 1.2m brand new. How long do u think that car will last, I doubt it will last 2 yrs before becoming old. What about safety features, I doubt a car sold for 1.2m brand new will have sufficient safety features. In case of an accident, na write off straight. Have u ever seen a Kia picanto involved in an accident? Trust me u won't even pick the pieces out of the car. I think the better policy would be to barn importation of old cars, say cars produced 10 yrs and above and allow importation of newer cars while the govt work on building car manufacturing plants. It will be a win win.. U want cheap new car u get, and u want tokunbo u can also get. |
Car Talk / Re: The 03-07 Toyota Corolla Vs 08-010 Toyota Corolla Which Is Better And Stronger by elektra80: 3:18pm On Oct 07, 2013 |
segzyndpep: I love corolla also but between corrola 2007 and 2006 big daddy which is better? which is better in terms of? If u are talking fuel economy then there's no comparison here, corolla is a compact car with 1.8L engine while the Camry I'm question comes with 2.4L for i4. So u can't expect the Camry to be more economical. But the Camry has more power especially the v6. Its bigger and has more space. So when u ask which is better, it depends on what u are looking for. If u don't care about power and do a lot of city driving, then u might choose the corolla. But if u want power and do a lot of traveling, want bigger space, then Camry for sure. 2 Likes |

Car Talk / Re: Honda E.o.d, Toyota Camry 01 And Nissan Xterra 01 Which Is More Economical by elektra80: 10:56pm On Oct 05, 2013 |
niceG: because there is no way an SUV like xterra will be more economical than sedans like accord and Camry even if they have the same engine size. More power is required for the xterra to move the extra weight, more power means more fuel. 1 Like |

Ikenna351: Huh huh. so I am spreading false information based on what I saw with my own eyes? I drove that car for a whole 9 months and it had no cup holder... not that it was a big deal though. And I don't hate u Ikenna, I just love to debate and I back it up with facts, if u don't like it then counter debate. I did not say Peugeot brand is bad, If it was another car that is not peugeot that didn't have the cup holder, I would have still made reference to it.. so being a Peugeot was just a co incidence. It became an issue whenever I stop by to buy a drink and there's no place in the car for me to keep it without spilling it. I can make reference to u when u say things that I have different opinion about.. that is why it is an online forum and I don't think I have gone against the rules because I have never abused u or used wrong words. As a matter of fact u are the one going against the rules here. Yes u are the moderator.. but how can u say only dummies drive automatic just because u have love for manual? anyway I don't have the pictures of the 406 in question but below is a similar one.

Let other nairalanders bear me witness here.. I didn't say anything bad about u. what the op said about Peugeot was correct whether u like it or not, I never attacked u, on the contrary u are the one that attacked the op just because he mentioned Peugeot. So we should not mention Peugeots in our posts just because our moderator is a Peugeot fan. Pscheeew, oshi ati iranu. |
Car Talk / Re: Death Or Dearth Of The Nigerian Motor Industry. by elektra80: 11:27am On Oct 05, 2013 |
Ikenna351: Ha ha ha, Mr Ikenna, I do not hate Peugeot. It was the way u attacked the OP that made me post my comment. Nobody is saying Peugeot is bad, but the fact remains they have been on the decline in Nigeria l, even though they have staged a comeback. So OP is right, u don't have to ask him what planet he came from because he was telling the truth. And about the 406 without a cup holder... That is very true. Now I'm not saying all 406 does'nt have one.. The one I drove doesn't and its a 2000 model. You are person that says only lazy and dummies drive automatic and another guy in ur support said Americans at lazy and even have cupholders in their car. So why die Peugeot start adding cupholders? You are so obsessed with Peugeot that u fail to see the truth, just like u also thinking people that drive automatically are dummies because of ur own personal interest. So Mr Ikenna, I did not shoot myself in the leg. |
Car Talk / Re: Death Or Dearth Of The Nigerian Motor Industry. by elektra80: 9:51am On Oct 05, 2013 |
Mr ikenna and Peugeot sha, just like a chicken protecting her chicks and will attack whatever cones near them. I don't think the OP said anything bad about Peugeot, as a matter of fact what he said is the plain truth, whether u are a fan of Peugeot or not. What OP was trying to say was that in the past when PAN was still functioning very well, most cars in Nigeria were Peugeot, if u own a Peugeot 504 then u are a rich man and there was no influx of tokunbo cars. Fast forward several years later and its no longer the same, other manufacturers especially the japs have taken over. A beg how many Peugeot dealership can u count in Lagos... I can count several Toyota dealerships around where I live alone... Even in abuja there are far more Toyota dealerships. So the question is what did Peugeot do wrong, maybe they relaxed too much and let others take over. So Mr Ikenna, I don't think the OP was attacking ur dearest Peugeot, but truth is bitter. Maybe Peugeot have to make a comeback. I think Nigeria should first promote, monitor and fund indigenous companies, then encourage people to buy before phasing out tokunbo cara... This will take some years to accomplish. 4 Likes |
Car Talk / Re: Toyota To Replace Matrix With Corolla Hatchback? by elektra80: 9:54pm On Oct 04, 2013 |
I don't think its lack of consumer awareness that plagued the matrix, its the amount of low quality plastics used for the interior and yet the car is pricey. Anyone noticed how ugly the dashboard looks with buttons wearing off after about 1 year of use. The interior of a 2008 matrix looks like a car in the 90's. Just ugly and low quality, yet expensive, the only good thing is the exterior and AWD option |
