Checkpoints are very important in the face of this seeming endless insecurity situation.

However, it is important the security men manning the points carry out their tasks with complete commitment. It is sad that most of the checkpoints are tollgates for some bad eggs among them to get rich. One constable was boasting the other time at Oluku junction, Benin, that he owned a Lexus RX330, without the knowledge of his team leader. When the security personnel lose focus, terrorist, bandits and robbers easily overwhelm them. I believe that in most cases where security agents are killed at the checkpoints, it is simply that the officers, rather than stand at alert, look out for buses, bikes and cars to rip off their hard earned monies.

In all we must comment them for their job. We must also ask government to increase their salaries/allowances and grant promotions quickly to deserving ones.

Why is NNPC not talking about getting the public refinery to work?

The presidential committee is not the one producing for you. Tell Nigerians directly how much you’re currently selling to NNPC based on the crude you bought in dollars.

Obviously it was sold at a much lower price. There are these persons in positions of power with the NNPC, who keep this stranglehold on petroleum products and crude.

They are bent on destroying the man’s business and also ensure that the refineries do not work.
