Hopefully they are speedily arrested and made to face the law. |

They had choices in 2023. Someone promised to end touting in Lagos, but he was rejected. They made their choice and should enjoy the benefits of their choice. |
Making serious efforts to change his address to Kuje prison, this fellow. |
Very sad indeed. Moulding five bags of cement daily would fetch the young man twelve thousand five hundred naira daily independently. Many such young men have built houses of their own by just moulding blocks. Thankfully the children have been rescued from the hands of the evil minded woman. A close examination would find out that the second wife initiated the sacking of the first wife, just to take over the man. The equally weak first wife, abandoned the children and walked away. She probably is from a very poor home, with nobody to fight for her. Now government has come to her rescue and that if the children. That commissioner is one of the hardest working women in government in the country. I believe that she will ensure that the evil man and his equally evil second wife are prosecuted and made to serve prison time. |
It’s so saddening that citizens, rather than move to save, use their cameras to take pictures. Was it not possible for some of those bystanders to move to stop her? Life has become such a struggle for many people worldwide. People have various reasons for committing suicide. However, it is a wrong move. Even in the most hopeless looking situations, there’s always a way. May her family be comforted. |
Afrobasic:Original suffer head! |
Namaster:So easy to say. Thank you adviser. |
Thank God the scoundrel was caught. Hopefully his mates will treat him the same way soon in prison. |
Should we expect the first nuclear weapons use in the middle east? With policy of "nuclear ambiguity," Israel has neither confirmed nor denied possession of nuclear weapons. Would the Iranians like to try it out with the mother of all battles coming up in the Middle East? I think it is no longer a secret that Israel possesses nuclear capabilities and if the country finds itself in a dangerous situation that threatens its existence, such weapons would be deployed. It has long been the wish of Iran and its proxies to wipe Israel away from the face of the earth. With such existential threats, will the Israelis not respond in kind against Iran and its proxies? Hopefully all of them can find some common ground to resolve their differences. Hamas must get to the table to resolve the differences. Israel must agree with the two state resolution, recognizing the state of Palestine. Hezbollah too must keep the required 10 miles behind the blue line and cease firing rockets daily into Israel. |
mrvitalis:The biggest producers of textile in the world started from somewhere. China which accounts for over 50%, for example, started from somewhere. The same goes for the likes of India, Pakistan, Brazil and Mexico. Our government must create the enabling environment for businesses to thrive. That’s what happened to those countries and there they are today, with the likes of Bangladesh, whose GDP is lower than that of Nigeria importing their textiles. As of 2010, Nigeria was Africa’s leading producer of cotton and the 12th largest in the world. We must then wonder why right in the face of our leaders, that industry has gone under. Industries must not be allowed to suffer in this manner. Nigeria had some of the biggest textile industries nationwide up till the return to democracy. Rather than kill them, as already stated, government must put policies in place to help industries grow, make our textiles internationally competitive once again, create jobs and grow the economy. |
mrvitalis:Garments are produced from textiles. Textiles refer to the raw materials used to create fabrics, such as fibers, yarns, and threads. Textiles are the beginning and garments are the final products made from them. If you kill the textile industries, where will you get garments from? I just cleared it up for you above. What I do not get from you brother is why the textile industry must be killed. Can you proceed with the above already defined for you? |
Khyrvxjzy:He sucked her hand? Chai. I laugh tire. So e no see feeding bottle to buy and suck, if na to such hungry am? So you agreed that he inappropriately touched the girl. That’s sexual molestation that you just proved by yourself. If you try am, na jail you go see yourself. |
mrvitalis:I complete read your initial comment. I have read it again and again and I tell you that your theory is not in line with the realities. You cannot say “kill the textile industry”, or close down textile mills. Have you wondered why prices of their products are high? Have you taken into consideration the negative effects of certain government policies? Textile industries contribute to the GDP and closing them down would impact on the economy. Have you considered that? How will Nigeria attain self sufficiency when textile mills are closed, just as others shutting down operations already? Why do we talk about production as a means of growing our economy, when you close down textile mills? Have you considered job losses? How can you product garments, when the companies that produce the fabrics are closed? Have you considered the impact on the economy? Those are some of my reasons for disagreeing with your position. |
mrvitalis:So garment industry would be running on water instead of electricity? Kill the textile industry and kill the use of electricity? In this age of economic crisis and very poor salary, you choose to send the few employed out of jobs? Did you read their complain at all? Let me remind you that the issue is about the high cost of electricity. They used to spend 30 m on average monthly, and that’s aside from diesel cost monthly when there’s no electricity. Factories purchase diesel in trucks monthly to keep running. Government must by all means encourage the industries that are presently thriving. Enabling environments and reasonable conditions must be made available for them to thrive. So government should shut down factories that pay their taxes and other charges, contributing to the growth of the economy? Government too should allow the import of foreign garments, helping the economy of other countries to grow? Kill the textile industries? Where would garments come from? The moon? What would be used to make the garments? Which industries do you expect to produce the garments? Who would make the fabrics used to produce the garments? So you expect Nigeria to import finished products from Bangladesh for example, leaving the basic, in this case fabrics, to rot? Have you been to any textile factory before? The Indians and Bangladeshi produce their textiles and garments, jealously protect the industries, promote them locally and export them to those who are interested worldwide. Can Nigeria not protect local textile industries, promote them and export to make such money? Our textiles are the best in West Africa. You can check that. Nothing has happened to Ajaokuta, except corruption. Take it off the hands of government officials, take away bureaucratic bottle necks, privatize it completely and see success with it. Dangote plans to go into steel production next year. Do you expect it to be a failure as the ones established with public funds? Nitel was a disgrace until privatization came. Today we all enjoy telecommunications. I am sorry, but I do not agree that textile industries should be killed. |
This is very sad to note, that a popular personality as him, married with children, would engage in such act. At the beginning of the matter, it was tense argument between those who believed and those who did not believe. The judges put it to rest, backed with his own statements at the police stations, that he committed the act that he was jailed for. Should sentiments have been allowed? No. Those would have allowed him to get away and probably try his hands on one or more other little girls at later periods. In the end, the lesson there is for paedophiles to know that their judgement day would come someday. It is for popular persons like him to know that their supporters love them and expect them to live above board. He should be out of jail in less than two years by God’s grace. Going to the Supreme Court probably would serve to enrich his legal team more, except that he believes that he can clear his name. The video evidence in the house was damning. I pray and hope that he can pick up his career from where he left it and would not be stigmatized by his colleagues or the public. I also hope that his immediate family can forgive him also and move on. |
obonujoker:Benin, Asaba, Owerri and Abeokuta should not be in your list. They are far more livable than Lagos. They are quite serene and the people more friendly. |
PortHarcourtcit:I have noticed that hardly does any day go by without one negative story of Anambra, not getting posted. Why must that always happen? It is nauseating. Lagos state has a long way to go with its fire service, having been in the business for uncountable years. The federal fire service used to be located in Lagos, if it still exists. However I have observed that the short comings of the Lagos fire service are not such to copy anywhere. Again, irrespective of the state, fire service is badly managed. There are too many excuses. It’s either there’s no truck, no parts, no functional office, no water, no proper fire gear, or they are under staffed. Fire service is very important in every nation and deserves proper handling. If all the governments take this matter seriously, the nation will be better for it. |
Can we safely say that the call for a state of emergency by the Rivers state acting chairman of APC was a deliberate ploy to distract the people from the plan to bomb the state, by the group supported by Wike? Can we not say it was a wolf cry? Is it not the the same person who be held responsible if violence breaks out in Rivets state. We can say that we already know the culprits with this. It is quite unfortunate how desperate some politicians can be in their attempt to get power. |
leisuretym:Lagos state don partner with itself finish? |
GeneralPula:Abacha was the problem. He could not be trusted to hand over. Abacha decided to contest by transmuting from a military ruler to a civilian President. This was however part of the fear. The events of June 12, led to national crisis and a serious distrust between the political class and the military. The failure of IBB and the the AFRC to hand over to Abiola, was a disaster. Abacha long nursed the ambition to take over from IBB. Once he became the head of state, a systematic removal of all opposition voices started, using Major Mustapha, to cause all kinds of trouble in the land. Opposition figures were killed in broad daylight while those who could not wait to be killed ran for their dear lives. Pro democratic forces teamed up to form NADECO and other pressure groups to get Abacha to leave power. Obasanjo was part of those who opposed him and it nearly cost Obasanjo his life in 1996. There was nobody called Wike. One of the voices who could talk about that period was Festus Keyamo, who practiced under tutelage of the respected Gani Fawehinmi. Again there were the likes of Dele Momodu, the late Mr. Kokori, etc. Our country was in deep political crisis with the dishonesty of the military. Those were dark periods in our country. So it was until Abacha passed on. None of them could trust Abdusalam to hand over. That’s what played out. They thought that he would continue like Abacha, but he proved otherwise. The fear that the military would continue, that they could be killed, made most of them stay far away. While Abubakar was arranging to hand over, core politicians who saw it, quickly took over. They took over spaces, keeping the then activists away from positions of power. The question about the then activists is what have they achieved with the positions that they got into? Has the country become better under them? The answer is a big NO. The country has been deeply divided along religious and ethnic lines, under the watch of the same activists. Deep hatred has become the order of the day. We thought that Tinubu would immediate initiate the process of national reconciliation and healing, but alas, it gets worse daily. |
MetaMatrix:Have you been following the report of casualties? Hamas and Gaza recorded a huge amount of losses. Between Israel and Hezbollah, the loss has been far more pronounced on the side of Hezbollah. Our sincere hope is that the war does not escalate. That would draw aside from the small states, but the super powers taking sides, with far more devastation on the side of the Lebanese and Hezbollah. |
descartes400:How do you determine that Yaya’s lawyer willfully failed to comply? What else is there to talk about, when his parents lawyers failed to bring him to court five times, having promised to do so? They know the rules of the court and they know the consequences of failing to keep the rules. If they were not very sure that they could bring him to court on those days. They signed the undertaking on the strength of there assurance that Bello would be in court with them. “Trial Justice Emeka Nwite is yet to rule on the matter”. Hopefully you also saw that. The lawyer would have gone into the judge’s office to ask for some soft landing. |
descartes400:It is always very important to read and understand. Below is an excerpt from the event inside the court: “ Following his absence in court for his scheduled arraignment, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, urged the trial judge to dock his lawyers for failing to fulfil an undertaking they made to ensure his availability for trial. Lead counsel for the EFCC, Mr. Kemi Pinhero, SAN, prayed the court to punish the two senior lawyers that always represented the former governor, insisting that they have breached the rules of professional conduct. Pinhero, SAN, argued that Order 31(3) of Rules of Professional Conduct for legal practitioners stipulated that any lawyer that failed to comply with an undertaking he made before a court, aside from being in contempt, is automatically guilty of misconduct. “My lord, our application is that since one of the lawyers is present in court, he should be moved to the dock and dealt with him summarily, that is what the law says” From the above, you can see that lawyers have rules that guide their conduct inside the courts. Having realized the awaiting trouble, Bello’s lawyer quickly applied to get off the case. He’d rather preserve his name and hard worked image, than go to court for an ex governor, who’s hiding inside government house and refusing to attend his case in court. The crime of the lawyer is his failure, along with the lead counsel, to produce the accused Bello on the strength of an undertaking signed the last time in court. If the learned Judge agrees with the EFCC prosecutor, Bello’s counsel will find himself in prison. |
So sad that Yaya Bello has failed to appear in court. He makes mockery of himself and appears guilty as charged. Lady Macduff in Macbeth said "when our actions do not, our fears do make us traitors”. With Yaya Bello consistently dodging arraignment, can we safely say that his hands are clean? Can we not say that he truthfully embezzled public funds? |
PerfectStranger:We can predict the end of his education in Unilag. No matter the provocation, he should have controlled himself and caused the lecturer some discipline instead. |
PerfectStranger:We can predict the end of his education in Unilag. No matter the provocation, he should have controlled himself and earned the lecturer some discipline instead. |
Noemerci:So easy to say. |
Slytiger:Camera man. Na you dey use camera snap them abi? E pain you die! If you cannot take it, don’t give it. |
Moroccoguy:Unfortunately no party is able to defeat PDP in Exo state now. Victory belongs to PDP. |
