Guy, I agree with you. I was in Benin last week and saw the effect of not having proper drainage system, Ugbowo road was flooded and so many roads within Ugbowo even days after the rain had stopped. I think the government should take the issue of drainage very serious.

Benin is a small town and would expect all of it roads to be tarred and street lights erected every where without any excuse before the end of Oshiomole's 1st tenure.

Pictures and news like this gladdens ones heart and gives hope that one day, very soon, Nigeria will rightly claim its GOD's nation title from USA who are currently holding it in for us.

I love this topic and I believe this idea is a seed planted for the future of not only Lagos and Ogun state as requested but some other states too.

Economically it will benefit both states because Administrative cost will be reduced and politically it will make a lot of sense.

Though the merger is gradually happening as currently some people work in Lagos and live in Ogun.

The possibility looks bleak becuase of our social grand standing and ego challengies but it is POSSIBLE and it can happen.

official processing time takes 10 working days from the date of applying, but most cases are actually treated within a week.

I would suggest you apply for a tourist visa, saves you a lot of unnecessary questions when applying to stay with someone. Since you have about 500k and a hotel reservation already, i think it is enough to plan your tourist visa application.

What I think is necessary is that your statement of account shows a consistent means of income e.g. salary and any other means of income you claim to have in the last 6 months. Please if your statement is showing just a lump amount of 500k is best you do not apply with it.

The key thing they look out for is that you have strong ties to make you come back to Nigeria after your visit.

You can book for your hotel reservation with your master card or visa card if you have one. Your card will not be debited until your expected check-in date, however, you can cancel the reservation for free if you are not going to show up before the expected check-in date.

Truth is nobody is perfect with Yankee system, from my friends experience and other experiences read on NL, US visa in Nigeria takes the grace of GOD and your presentation during the interview. The guys interviewing you and the US system are not as omniscience as some posters here are making them to be.

My opinion on your issue is to apply as you are now which I believe from your story is your true state. Chances are that since you did not thumb print then you might likely go undetected but would advise you state in your form that you have applied before if asked if you have applied previously.

Even if you are refused now, chances are that your next application will be consistent and may likely turn in your favour.

I wish you and your family the best of luck. Be brave and apply. After all US is not the end of the world. No shakings! I do not believe that the US will contact the UK authorities and I am open to be proven beyond reasonable doubt on that.

This things happen to a lot of Nigerians everyday especially before the e-passport era and I agree with one of the posters here who suggested others should take your case as a lesson for the future.
