I thought they said Swift gives free night browsing. pls how true is a that. We are currently using Spectranet with no much trouble.

That's the part that baffles me a lot with the rate swift data keeps finishing. Without free midnight browsing, I was having good data rollover, now with free midnight browsing, data doesn’t last 2 weeks. Am considering spectranet at the moment.

I have been using Swift for my internet since 2013. But I have noticed some sharp practice since January this year. I have been paying N10, 000 monthly through one the agents of Swift who pays N7000 monthly and keeps the remaining N3,000. But suddenly I got disconnected even before the end of the last two months. Then just this morning I was disconnected when my last monthly payment was last month on July 25 for another month. Is one month now 13 days? I have not been doing much this year compared to the previous years. Data consumption is not much. I suspect sharp practices by members of staff at Swift who know the usernames and passwords. They can be using my account for downloads, because they know I don't share it. Someone recommended Smile to me.

I have similar challenge as you with Swift. Started using it in 2014, used to have data rollover but since this year my monthly data subscription (14GB) finishes in less than 2 weeks. I am tired of complaining to swift, their usual excuse is same as yours.

I decided to try smile, a friend of mine gave me his smile with 1 GB to test run before taking decision, my brother, I fear smile, 1gb was finished in less than 24 hours with no downloads ooh, just mails and internet browsing. Smile is fast but very expensive. For now am hooked with swift waiting and hoping for NCC to focus on this ISPs.

Don't worry OP the biggest catch r yet to be caught. All these without Buhari saying anything - Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can? (art of war)

Buhari is a true general the enemies of this country do not yet know what will hit them hence some of them are feigning illness, some are leaving the country and while some are foaming their mouths on social media, others remain quite. - Hence that general is skilful in attack whose opponent does not know what to defend; and he is skilful in defense whose opponent does not know what to attack (art of war)

Lol. I love the way we delude ourselves in this country. Nollywood has really turned a lot of us to good script writers. Pam, Pam, Pam Buhari will do this like this, like that, don't worry with little time (that will never end) you will see actor Buhari in action. Shout Hiyaaaahhhh!!!!!! Like Bruce Lee...lol. Smh at delusions. Better go and listen to Gov. Fayose to help your case.

Governor Fayose hits the nail on the head again as usual. As usual he will be abused rather than looking at the content of his message by the same people his statement seek to protect.

I wish PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh has the same fire power as Governor Fayose. He is too gentle for the job at the moment. Honestly needs to be replaced with a new more vibrant spokesman with same or more fire power than Gov. Fayose. The ruling party is not matured enough for matured opposition.

Barcanista,

Point 1 of your thread (https://www.nairaland.com/2501718/naira-appreciation-why-nigerians-should) refers.

It is wrong to peddle falsehoods on subjects you are not duly informed about. I personally made this deposit in the picture below a week ago. How low can you go? Did you inherit Oga Jona's cluelessness?

My man thanks for the comic relief, can't stop laughing at your ignorance. Really ignorance is bliss for some people.

To think you are not even updated and want to challenge one of the most articulate and intelligent Analyst on this site is really funny. Your issue reminds me of Ali the tricker and the foolish challenger in my primary school days.

The idiot walked up to Ali and told Ali "people say you are the best and most cunning trickster but you can never trick me, I am very intelligent" (just like you are challenging Barcanista with your outdated teller now). Ali asked him are you sure and the idiot screamed yes, am not a fool, I can never fall for you tricks. Ali told him ok wait for me let me go and search for a good trick for you, guess what the idiot agreed and waited for Ali for hours.

Someone observed the idiot waiting and walked up to him to ask whom he was waiting for. He said "am waiting for Ali, he went home to look for his best trick for me, am too intelligent, I can never fall" the person shook his head (like a lot viewers in your thread) and said "Mr. Man, go home, Ali has already tricked you!

i spent the whole day arguing this posit yesterday but it seems ever since this government assumed leadership the average IQ of our nation has dipped. The only way to improve the purchasing parity of our naira is to raise our productive capacity, period. There is no cosmetic change that can alter the power of the naira in the long term, NONE. I just hope when it goes south they won't swarm here to insult the CBN governor

Sure they will as usual. This analyst captured it rightly in his tweet yesterday. Buhari is a god to a lot of people who will never see any wrong in him inspite of his glaring anomalies. Like I always say. Time will tell. It's unproductive saying the truth these days especially when it's not in favour of our dear presidential god.

helpee:
@ barcanista, thanks for the analysis. kindly disregard those that have nothing to contribute except shouting wailing wailers. But i disagree with you. naira actually depreciated against the dollar because of excessive speculation. As you know, due to the ban on 41 products importers from accessing forex at the official rate, they had to source it from the parallel market. The excessive demand for forex by these importers from the black market at first created a scarcity that pushed the dollar up temporarily. speculators then cashed on that and started hoarding dollars thinking the dollar will keep rising against the naira especially since the new govt has no concrete plan in place. i was almost caught up too. i was advised to change most of my daily sales to dollars and then deposit in my DOM account in speculation of a further weakening of the naira. therefore, the banks were flooded by speculators with dollar deposits and many of them under the disguise of importation are laundering the money abroad via transfer. so, by refusing to accept the dollars, the CBN is playing a very smart move aagainst speculators. many people are therefore caught with dollars which they cant transfer or even deposit except to convert it to naira. therefore, the economy is flooded with dollars and demand is less than supply so the dollar must come down.
IS IT SUSTAINABLE/
Yes but we will temporarily suffer in sacrifice for a prosperous naira. importers will be temporarily caught unaware. the CBN will only create a bereaucratic bottleneck that will make it difficult for anybody except importers to access forex. BVN is one of the them. money launderers that used to access forex and transfer via DOM account will be cut off by the bottleneck. speculators will not find it attractive to hoard dollars because unless they ggenuinely need the dollars, they wont be able to get value for it since they cant spend it locally, cant transfer and cant even deposit. what do you need a useless dollar for?
it is not easy to open domicilliary account in neigbouring countries like you suggested unless you are a citizen or permanent/legal resident so few will be able to divert import activities to the neigbouring countries. therefore, even without increasing local production of imported stuffs, the naira will still stabilise against the dollar at a favourable position cos the most damage done to the naira usually comes from speculators. once we only access just the dollar we need for importation, school fees and other legal business abroad, we will stop speculating with the naira .
Even if things are temporarily expensive, we youths should take up the challenge and start producing. you can start with toothpick for example cos it is part of the products banned from accessing forex officially. the bottomline is that if it will be sustainable we must support the CBN in this quest. this is the first policy of this govt/CBN that i support.

I honestly respect the way you made your presentations. Sustainability is a major concern here. One reason why I believe the CBN governor is just playing to the gallery with his cosmetic policies. It's wuru wuru to the answer without a look at the opportunity forgone to the economy of his monetary policies.

Only possible hope I can see for sustaining his policies mid to long term is if he (CBN Governor) knows the future fiscal policies of this government and he is sure the government policies with back up his in the future, if not the Naira will definitely sky rocket in the nearest future.

Wrong. Orubebe's outburst never gave APC upper hand because JEGA's hand and U.S hands were already with APC.

Do you know that Obama actually gave JEGA a certificate while the election is still in progress

My point remains ..Orubebe goofed big time but JEGA was biassed ..I wish the DSS will invite me for clarification.

You have made your points. Unfortunately it will take a while for people to really know the grave injustices done to this country in the last elections. The ripple effect is still on and would be on for a long time. Orubebe had a point but presented his point emotionally in a very wrong way and place. The deed has been done. Thank GOD for the wisdom of Jonathan in choosing people's lives over his ambition inspite of the glaring injustices against him. Will always respect him for that. It takes a real man with all the powers in his possession to do what Jonathan did for PEACE. GOD Almighty bless him for that.

While you are busy celebrating this short term effect on the Naira, please take some time to also reflect on the long term implications on the economy. For me this move is cosmetics with short term positive effects on the Naira, main question is is this policy sustainable in the long run? Will our economy be better for it in the long run? I honestly don't think so but time again will tell.

The earlier this constant, malicious and deceitful misinformation by the media are checked the better for us as a people. GEJ calmness was taken for granted by the media who took advantage of his maturity to malign his person. If the 8th senate can look into this issue with genuine intentions to put the publishers in check, it will go a long way in sanitizing the media which is currently a cesspit of corruption and unprofessional partisanship.

For those against this move, pray one useless blogger or newspaper editor is not on you or your loved ones case then you will understand the damage these useless idiots can cause to your person and hard earned reputation with their false reports.

Politics / Re: Can PDP Rise Again? by eleven(m): 11:30pm On Apr 14, 2015
I think they can. If they re-strategize and clean up their house. Possibility of changing their brand name because the PDP brand is not sellable at the moment. The few governors elected are now the ambassadors of the party, their performance if positive will influence the PDP brand positively and change people's current perception about it for the better.

So far those who lost the elections have started on a good note by congratulating their opponents even before final results are announced. If they sustain these mature traits, it will go a long way in bouncing them back. If they do, I believe they will be back better and Nigerians will be the ultimate winners. Personally I see a lot of positive changes in the PDP of 2015, though a lot of people are not fully aware yet because of their bad past history.

For now attention is gradually shifting from them to APC. Soon the pressure will increase on APC and depending on their performance, it will either break or make APC stronger. Media propagandas if they don't perform will not be sustainable as more Nigerians are getting wiser with this style.

I pray they perform because their performance will be highly beneficial to all Nigerians irrespective of party affiliation.

Our politics is getting more matured. I will a situation where parties have ideology and not every Tom, Dick and Harry is given admission.

Also I will like a situation where INEC holds separate elections for NASS and HOA members instead of merging theirs with presidential and governorship elections. These guys are the most powerful lot, we need to focus our attention more on them.

We need to see them, hear their campaign programmes and know them very well so we can take a more informed decision on them. The current practice hides them from us the electorates.

One year anniversary: We will rescue chibok girls, bring them home if… – Buhari

By Levinus Nwabughiogu

ABUJA – Nigeria’s President-Elect, General Mohammadu Buhari has assured parents of the over 200 missing chibok girls that his government would rescue and bring back him their children.

He however said that the rescue mission was dependent on whether the girls were not still alive as he does not have the information for now.

IVORY COAST, Abidjan : A woman holds a sign to call for the release of more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram militants on May 19, 2014 during a sit-in organised by Human Rights organisations in Abidjan. The "#bringbackourgirls" slogan has become a huge global phenomenon following the abductions Nigerian girls by Boko Harm AFP PHOTO

IVORY COAST, Abidjan : A woman holds a sign to call for the release of more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram militants on May 19, 2014 during a sit-in organised by Human Rights organisations in Abidjan. The “#bringbackourgirls” slogan has become a huge global phenomenon following the abductions Nigerian girls by Boko Harm AFP PHOTO

Buhari who gave this assurance to mark the first anniversary of the sad development also promised to educate the girls as against the creed of Boko Haram that “western education is evil”.

It will be recalled that today marked the first year since the 276 girls were kidnapped by the members of boko haram from their school in Chibok, Borno State.

The President-Elect in a statement from Daura, Katsina State from his first day of his administration, boko haram would be met with the collective will of the Nigerian people.
The statement read thus: “Today we remember the kidnapping of 276 girls from a school in Chibok one year ago. This crime has rightly caused outrage both in Nigeria and across the world.

“Today is a time to reflect on the pain and suffering of the victims, their friends and families. Our thoughts and prayers, and that of the whole Nigerian Nation, are with you today.

“I want to assure all of them, and particularly the parents, that when my new Administration takes office at the end of May, we will do everything we can to defeat Boko Haram. We will act differently from the Government we replace: we hear the anguish of our citizens and intend to respond accordingly.

“This new approach must also begin with honesty. We do not know if the Chibok girls can be rescued. Their whereabouts remain unknown. As much as I wish to, I cannot promise that we can find them.

But I say to every parent, family member and friend of the children that my Government will do everything in its power to bring them home.

“What I can pledge, with absolute certainty, is that starting on the first day of my Administration Boko Haram will know the strength of our collective will and commitment to rid this nation of terror, and bring back peace and normalcy to all the affected areas.

“Boko Haram” means “Western Education is Sinful”. When they are defeated militarily, as they will be, we will ensure our citizens in the affected areas have improved educational opportunities as a direct counterbalance to Boko Haram’s twisted ideology. In particular we will educate ever more young girls ensuring they are empowered as citizens of Nigeria.

“Let us use this anniversary to remind each other that the attack on Chibok was an attack on the dreams and aspirations of our young people.

“We stand united in our pledge to resist terror in Nigeria– not just through military means but also through the power of opportunity and the hope of a better future for all”.

@OP, your analysis makes sense. APC really underestimated PDP and President Jonathan. They really in their hearts believe Jonathan is clueless inspite of obvious signs he is not. They took his gentle mien for foolishness and ended up being the foolish ones.

They also took Nigerians for fools believing they can get to the presidency on the alter of lies and senseless deceits. I pity people who were hoodwinked with the herd mentality.

Buhari was a very wrong choice against Jonathan, they claim Change and couldn't present their best to Nigerians rather foolishly holding on to the Northern agenda that PDP has discarded.

If APC is not careful, for foolishly wasting so much time and resources on Buhari who is not sellable, they might loose Lagos. While they are busy shouting Sai Buhari! Sai Buhari!! like goats overshadowing Ambode, Agbaje is busy warming himself into the hearts of Lagosians.

Next time they will know it's a lot easier, cheaper, less stressful and better to present your best candidate for the highest position than to present a poor candidate and stressfully try to sell him through lies, deceits and shameless propagandas to Nigerians.

On the army, they shot themselves in the foot, how do they expect the military whom they have so much abused and embarrassed to support them especially now that they are winning the war against insurgents through weapons purchased and delivered by GEJ? How do they expect Nigerians who are very happy with the military now to support these prophets of doom and proponents of negative news? One of my APC friends now call thier slogan 'Chain' instead of 'Change'. Smh.

This topic is now trending on Twitter even if ignored on nairaland #Apclies

If will be extremely disappointing if NL does not put this topic on the front page. It will only mean they are aiding and abetting APC to deceive Nigerians. This is a front page topic.

Please those with access to the moderators should please copy them.

At OP... GOD bless you for your intelligent factual observations. A Twitter handle @MrAyeDee is trending now for sharing same observations and more with facts similar to yours.

Please go through his tweets or hashtags: #BuharisHealth #APCLies & #NigeriaDecides . These hashtags are currently trending. APC has been seriously exposed and embarrassed on Twitter. Shame.

Wonder why this is not on front page.

Al this lengthy write ups dnt change d fact u r a liar. U seem to have grandiose delusions...a lot of it I guess. Its not my bizz who u vote, its no1s bizz rili. Bt u dnt come here to display ur inability to reason well. Non partisan means smtin, n u come here to campaign for pdp! Does dt nt mean u r a fraud urself. Bn non partisan wld v meant u bn objective and neutral. Bt to u gej is al gud n gmb is al bad.
Shame.
Not everyone on nl is as foolish as u r

You call the man a liar and fool without proofs. The man you called foolish made an intelligent observation backed with pictorial facts, rather than countering his findings with counter facts you called him a liar. Are we suppose to believe you just like that without proofs or the OP who has provided proofs to back up his claims?

Talking about foolishness I suppose you now know who is foolish between the both of you.

@ OP, I salute your courage and intelligence. You have really done well.

You have made valid observations with proof to back up your claims which makes sense.

As usual APC trolls can't counter your claims hence trying to intimidate you by abusing your person and derailing your thread. Again they have failed because your observations are factual. It's left for them to counter you with valid points instead of resulting low to insults.

They forget people see these things and reason for themselves. In this thread as at this time of posting APC trolls have seriously de-marketed their brand. Shame.
