since it's all about opinions that everybody seems to have these days...here's mine:

from d op to about all silly comments here within, it's also my opinion that anybody who arouses d religious sensitivity of others in political issues is simply an eediot!!! simple.....

We can pretend all is well, abuse each other and deceive ourselves but deep inside us we know the issues the OP raised are not far from realities.

Jonathan did not meet our expectations, his utterances most times are very embarrassing for his level of education but he did try his best to reach out to our northern brothers who unfortunately for reasons best known to them hated him in-spite of his efforts.

The North using social media through El-Rufai, Omojuwa & Co handles succeeded in using some of GEJ's weak points/blunders to further propagate & sell these hate to youths from other regions who unfortunately follow these people without applying common sense.

APC is not about any positive change, the party's main objective is to deliver power to the North simple. All these noise, propagandas, threats, hates etc is all about returning power to the North sadly not about Nigeria in my opinion.

Reason why campaigns are not issue based but false propagandas, e-fights, threats & counter threats from both sides. Overheating the country unnecessarily. The common people are the biggest losers in all of these.

The highlighted definitely refers to you. Know it now that each indication of interest is completely independent of previous ones.
Have you asked yourself why Buhari prefers to tender affidavit instead of certificates that he claimed are available?
If you want to make change, let the change pass democracy test. Why take shortcut? If you want shortcut, go and plan a coup. Nonsense.

Exactly the reasons for my concerns here today: https://www.nairaland.com/2070195/concerns-over-buharis-certificate it's very worrisome we are downplaying this issue. I suspect this might create problems in the coming weeks if he doesn't provide his certificate.

Politics / Concerns Over Buhari's Certificate by eleven(m): 5:53pm On Dec 31, 2014
I am deeply concerned about Mr Buhari's inability to provide either a primary or Secondary school certificate as part of the standard requirements for elective positions.

More worrisome is the position for the highest office in the land & social media propaganda to downplay this abnormal anomaly. Mr. Buhari's inability to provide either of these documents is an issue beyond 2015 election. Some of the implications are that it questions his rank/role in the military aside the fact that it's shows failure in his planning & organizational skills as a leader.

His failure to provide his certificate indicts his party (APC) as first line verifiers, INEC for condoning his past submissions without his results, the Nigerian Army as his employers, our educational system and our mentality as a people. Please this issue is now beyond politics.

It's not an issue Mr Buhari should take lightly or wish away because it opens him up for legal attacks and possible disqualification if not handled properly, also questions his past military strategic experience, a smart soldier would never open up himself for attacks to his enemies in the battlefield and above all questions his most popular asset, his integrity.

* Intentionally removed the title "General" till he provides his certificate(s) because I no longer believe his Nigerian Army admission, rank and promotions are merited. This to me is a very serious concern.

Whether you choose to accept it or not, reality is that over 90 percent of the population have to be flogged into discipline. i can live with that fact.

It's a very big shame you believe at this stage of your life you have to be flogged to behave correctly as an adult in 2014. It tells a lot about your person. SMH seriously for your retrogressive way of reasoning. A very big shame indeed.

ZUBY77:

I like your post, so I will respond.
I said this last year, that I want globalruns.com to sustain itself.

Not that I can't do it but there is no encouragement in sponsoring the site after spending many hours daily to write with Nokia, edit, read again, transfer to another phone. Copy, paste, and make sure I did all this on a given time because someone out there is waiting to read.

This is stressful. I have never seen any writer who maintained the same system for a continuous 15 months without break.
Show me the writer.

Ask the house mates on our whatsapp group. They see me online at every hour of the night, just because I want my fans to have something to read the next day.

Every Nairaland member suddenly saw the potential of Global Runs making it big because I closed it down for subscription.

I know how the fans feel, trust me I do. But the stress is telling on me.
I decided to live alone since last year just to be able to write.
These are sacrifices I have been making.

If the amount I charged is much, give me suggestions..I will listen and consider, I m no machine.

But for the issue of opening up free, I need a perfect reason to do that.

I intend to pay Maria who has been telling me her story since December.
I promised her that.
I haven't even started writing her story.

I have a long way to go..I m even looking at 5 years because each passing day is a story of its own..

But to wait for advertisers is a no.
If anybody can get Global Runs a sponsor, I will open it.

I understand your position...it's a cache 22 situation, your site needs to generate funds so as to sustain itself, at the same time the site needs traffic to promote it and make it more popular which is quicker through free subscription.

One possible way out of it in my opinion is through voluntary contribution as I mentioned earlier. If I get a better suggestion later I will let you know.

Meanwhile how do I subscribe using online transfer?

@Zuby,

I stumbled on this thread some weeks ago and it keep me running for 3 weeks to catch with the early runners.

Noticed some days back to continue running I need to subscribe and have been trying to see the motivation behind the idea.

Honestly you are a fantastic writer and a great one to hold a non reader like myself for this long, your stories are intriguing, full of suspense, actions with a lot of lessons. The way you describe Europe in your stories is so real. Your story will make a good block buster movie anytime, any day.

Personally, I don't have any issues subscribing to continue my race in fact I tried and it linked me to paypal confusing me a bit. However I think your subscription move is not sustainable in the long run, what you stand to loose in the long run is more than your short time benefit.

I remember some years back, punch newspaper tried this same strategy but had to change their position when they saw the negative effects of it.

I believe what should be most important to your site for now is how to continuously and consistently build traffic. The more traffic you generate over time, the more attractive it becomes for adverts purpose.

I would rather suggest you consider voluntary contribution option to subscription. You can put a button on the site for voluntary contributions where it's easily seen to generate funds for your site as a short term plan.

Also please stop responding to angry runners in like manner, they have a right to be angry because they are concerned and genuinely want Global runs to succeed just like you.

Remember you are the lead runner here and the boss, the great Ozoigbondu1, if we loose respect for you here as a person, it will indirectly affect the lead character in your story and the story as a whole. Nuff Respect Boss...Salute!

Thanks for your response. I don't have the exact details of the drugs administered on the baby but as at today, the parents were told to go and do CT scan, ear scan and eye scan. Also gotten appointment in general hospital mother & child section for Monday. Will try and get the father to sign up to Nairaland so he can follow up and provide exact details.

I am a medical illiterate but I strongly believe there is a permanent solution somewhere. Thanks. I appreciate.
Health / Baby Not Responsive After Convulsion Treatment - Please Help by eleven(m): 12:19pm On Jun 28, 2013
Hello House,

Good morning. Please a very close family friend of mine baby has a challenge that has been bothering them without a solution in sight yet. I am here hoping for a professional advise that can help their baby and possibly other parents in the same situation and prevention.

Please see summary of the situation below:

1. Baby is a girl child age 1 year, 6 months

2. Some months back, baby had convulsion and was quickly taken to a private hospital within their location, the hospital treated the baby and later referred the baby to LUTH

3. The baby was hospitalised for some weeks and later discharged

4. Since discharging the baby from hospital, she has not been responsive, a once strong, walking, bubbling and happy child before the incident can longer walk, hear and the parents fear she cannot see too.

5. Ever since its has been from hospital to hospital, church to mosque, to traditional treatments - no results

Please doctors in the house what could have caused this? What possible solution can be taken to resolve this? How can this be prevented?
Religion / How God Helped A Nigerian Survive Underwater For 60 Hours by eleven(m): 12:12am On Jun 13, 2013
How an air bubble helped this man survive underwater for 60 hours

Warri, Nigeria: After two days trapped in freezing cold water and breathing from an air bubble in an upturned tugboat under the ocean, Harrison Okene was sure he was going to die. Then a torch light pierced the darkness.

Ship's cook Okene, 29, was on board the Jascon-4 tugboat when it capsized on May 26 due to heavy Atlantic ocean swells around 30 km (20 miles) off the coast of Nigeria, while stabilising an oil tanker filling up at a Chevron platform.

Of the 12 people on board, divers recovered 10 dead bodies while a remaining crew member has not been found.

Somehow Okene survived, breathing inside a four foot high bubble of air as it shrunk in the waters slowly rising from the ceiling of the tiny toilet and adjoining bedroom where he sought refuge, until two South African divers eventually rescued him.

"I was there in the water in total darkness just thinking it's the end. I kept thinking the water was going to fill up the room but it did not," Okene said, parts of his skin peeling away after days soaking in the salt water.

"I was so hungry but mostly so, so thirsty. The salt water took the skin off my tongue," he said. Seawater got into his mouth but he had nothing to eat or drink throughout his ordeal.

At 4:50 a.m. on May 26, Okene says he was in the toilet when he realised the tugboat was beginning to turn over. As water rushed in and the Jascon-4 flipped, he forced open the metal door.

"As I was coming out of the toilet it was pitch black so we were trying to link our way out to the water tidal (exit hatch)," Okene told Reuters in his home town of Warri, a city in Nigeria's oil-producing Niger Delta.

"Three guys were in front of me and suddenly water rushed in full force. I saw the first one, the second one, the third one just washed away. I knew these guys were dead."

What he didn't know was that he would spend the next two and a half days trapped under the sea praying he would be found.

Turning away from his only exit, Okene was swept along a narrow passageway by surging water into another toilet, this time adjoining a ship's officers cabin, as the overturned boat crashed onto the ocean floor. To his amazement he was still breathing.

FISH FEASTED ON THE DEAD

Okene, wearing only his underpants, survived around a day in the four foot square toilet, holding onto the overturned washbasin to keep his head out of the water.

He built up the courage to open the door and swim into the officer's bedroom and began pulling off the wall panelling to use as a tiny raft to lift himself out of the freezing water.

He sensed he was not alone in the darkness.

"I was very, very cold and it was black. I couldn't see anything," says Okene, staring into the middle distance.

"But I could perceive the dead bodies of my crew were nearby. I could smell them. The fish came in and began eating the bodies. I could hear the sound. It was horror."

What Okene didn't know was a team of divers sent by Chevron and the ship's owners, West African Ventures, were searching for crew members, assumed by now to be dead.

Then in the afternoon of May 28, Okene heard them.

"I heard a sound of a hammer hitting the vessel. Boom, boom, boom. I swam down and found a water dispenser. I pulled the water filter and I hammered the side of the vessel hoping someone would hear me. Then the diver must have heard a sound."

Divers broke into the ship and Okene saw light from a head torch of someone swimming along the passageway past the room.

"I went into the water and tapped him. I was waving my hands and he was shocked," Okene said, his relief still visible.

He thought he was at the bottom of the sea, although the company says it was 30 metres below.

The diving team fitted Okene with an oxygen mask, diver's suit and helmet and he reached the surface at 19:32, more than 60 hours after the ship sank, he says.

Okene says he spent another 60 hours in a decompression chamber where his body pressure was returned to normal. Had he just been exposed immediately to the outside air he would have died.

The cook describes his extraordinary survival story as a "miracle" but the memories of his time in the watery darkness still haunt him and he is not sure he will return to the sea.

"When I am at home sometimes it feels like the bed I am sleeping in is sinking. I think I'm still in the sea again. I jump up and I scream," Okene said, shaking his head.

"I don't know what stopped the water from filling that room. I was calling on God. He did it. It was a miracle."

Ilaje44: Look at everybody blaming olopa and olokada while leaving out the Major culprit in this case. The truck Driver who did not secure his haulage bears the brunt of this catastrophy. If the haulage was secured, this wouldn't have happened even if he has to brake suddenly as it happened. There is just too many cases of haulage/Containers falling off a truck in Nigeria. In countries with 1000000times more haulage, this rubbish rarely happen, because a situation like this is always anticipated in vehicular traffic. The government should enforce proper security of haulage in Nigeria. This is an unnecessary accident irrespective of Okada or the Police chasing it. And the Major Person to blame is the truck Driver and the haulage Company.

Abo oro temi re.

Your point makes a lot of sense. The simple solution to containers falling on the highway is to hold the terminal manager and safety manager of the loading site responsible for every fallen container accident and charge him/her for manslaughter. Once that is done, the problem will reduce to the barest minimum. RIP to the deceased.
