After a meeting with president Jonathan yesterday in Abuja, Sule Lamido, who is believed to be on his way to Apc, spoke to the press. Among other issues he addressed, was the statement below. "What is APC? An amalgamation of pain, anger and desperation. And this country is too big for them,” he said. “What is this opposition In Nigeria? You must know Nigerian history. Nigeria cannot be governed by an aggregate of pain, anger and frustration. And I have been saying those called opposition who are now abusing us, whatever might have been our crime, it was that crime that made them. “We created that for them to become either governors, or legislators, we created room for them to emerge. So whatever they think is our evil, they are the manifestations of the evil. Believe me, you don’t know Nigeria.” |
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says contrary to reports, he has not yet endorsed any presidential candidate. Obasanjo had said during an interview with the Financial Times at a book launch on Monday that he would support the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj.Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). He had said, “The circumstances he (Buhari) will be working under if he wins the elections are different from the one he worked under before, where he was both the executive and the legislature – he knows that. He is smart enough. He is educated enough. He’s experienced enough. Why shouldn’t I support him?” The said endorsement was well received by the APC but condemned by leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party such as a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro; Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose and the National Chairman of the party, Adamu Mu’Azu. However, Obasanjo said he supported Buhari but had not yet endorsed him. He said, “I will not go into argument about that. I did not unendorse him or endorse him as such. A question was asked and I said I will determine, based on the track record of those candidates who are contesting and who ask me for support, and when I do that, based on my own assessment, I will support the candidate that I believe has the best track record. And I am still in the process of that.” Punchng.com 12/2/15 Oga OBJ dey fear ni? [b]Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says contrary to reports, he has not yet endorsed any presidential candidate. Unconfirmed report says a bomb exploded in pdp presidential rally ground in Gombe. The blast happened immediately the president left the campaign venue. Details awaited. |
After his seeming endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan and then shortly afterwards the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), and promising to mobilise retired military generals to support the latter, former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), on Thursday decided to be more generous with his support, saying that he endorses all 14 presidential candidates in the forthcoming election. Babangida stated this during a talk show on Channels TV, adding that all the candidates had displayed passion for the unity of the country. Asked by the presenter of the programme, Ms. Kadaria Ahmed, if he had thrown his weight behind Jonathan, Babangida said he alluded to it. “I did allude to that. I said I found him as someone who has a very strong belief about the unity of this country. “Those of us who fought the civil war and I still carry a bullet here as a permanent reminder in me, so anyone who talks about Nigeria’s unity, I get impassioned about it. “So what I said is that the president believes in the unity of this country and any other person who believes in the unity of this country should support the president to keep the country one,” he said. Continuing, Babangida said as far as the presidential election was concerned, all the 14 presidential candidates had his blessing. “The only difference and I did mention it, is that I have not been able to read what they have to offer to this country and I am going to do that. Whoever offers what I was looking forward to I will cast my vote,” he said. Babangida also spoke on the late Gen. Sani Abacha, saying that it never crossed his mind that his successor was going to seize power from the head of the interim government, Chief Ernest Shonekan, to whom he handed over power in 1993. “It never crossed my mind that Abacha would overthrow the interim government, quite honestly, it never did. But when he executed the coup, it didn’t come to me as a surprise because all of you in this country gave him the wherewithal to do it. A coup always succeeds if there was a frustration in the society and that frustration was orchestrated. “I governed for eight years using decree, that interim government was given a constitution and that constitution was supported by a law. So as far as I’m concerned, it was not illegitimate. It was legitimately done as it’s done in military governments all over the world,” he said. He called on Nigerians and Muslims to stand up and fight against Boko Haram, saying that the group had carried out acts that are contrary to the tents of Islam. “Nigerians have to mobilise against the Boko Haram and that will make it easy to win the war,” he said. He added that he had no regret over anything he did during his regime but admitted that if there was anything he would have done differently, it would have been to include a provision for a two-party system in the Nigerian constitution. That is the great general talking. The general with authentic certificate not oluwole. A true leader and statesman must be neutral at all time, especially on national issues. Oh source? As the February 2015 general elections gather momentum, the Igbo apex ruling body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday in Awka, the Anambra State Capital, endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan , the People Democratic Party ,(PDP) standardbearer for the presidential election. Addressing newsmen, the President of Ohanaeze in Anambra State who is also the chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo State Presidents Forum, Chris Eluemunoh, said that the seven presidents—general of the seven states that make up the Igbo nation which include, Anambra; Chris Elumunoh, Enugu; Dr Eric Ebeh, Imo; Dr Ezechi Chukwu , Abia; Chief Emmanuel Oparanta, Ebonyi; Pius Nwankwo, Rivers; Prince Igo Okparamma and Delta; Ifeanyichukwu Onwukamike, resolved to endorse him because of the need to implement the national conference recommendations as he was the initiator of the conference that they said, would unite the country . In a communiqué signed by the seven presidents-general, they posited that since the All Progressive Congress (APC), opted out of the conference, it meant that the initiator, President Jonathan would be voted to implement it . According to them, “considering the realities of the forthcoming 2015 general elections, Ohanaeze Ndigbo State Presidents forum, has objectively made a critical assessment of the scenario and our findings revealed that the implementation of the just concluded National Conference resolutions is both timely and necessary for the sake of equity, fairness and common good of all Nigerians as an entity”. The group reasoned that since the conference was the brainchild of President Jonathan , it was then logical and impressive that he would be desirous to implement the said confab resolutions rather than any other candidate.. “In view of the forgoing, the Ohanaeze state presidents forum therefore endorses President Jonathan in the forthcoming presidential election and urges all Ndigbo in the 36 states of the federation and Abuja to vote massively for him.” On the alleged crises rocking the apex Igbo body, they stated that Chief Enwo Igariweh and Dr. Joe Nworgu remained the President- General and Secretary General of the body adding “we disassociate ourselves and condemn herewith illicit and inordinate activities of Chief Mbazulike Amaechi and his cohorts in their bid to undermine the integrity of the duly elected National Executive Council (NEC) of Ohanaeze Ndigbo”. They hinted that Chief Mbazulike and cohorts lacked the locus standi, statutory legitimacy and moral wherewithal to decimate or truncate the constitutional four year term of the Igariweh led executive . “Mbazulike is neither the leader nor spokesperson of Ndigbo and should refrain from parading himself as same “ According to them,” Mbazulike and his cohorts are running the risk of extensive sanctions from Ohanaeze Ndigbo if they do not desist from their well-established antithetical utterances and inimical activities geared toward denigrating the present Ohanaeze Ndigbo NEC and the corporate integrity of Ohanaeze.“ The forum condemned the alleged bombing of its secretariat by an unscrupulous elements in the night of Jan. 24 2015 and implored security operatives to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous crime to face the wrath of the law. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/ About time. The devil you know............. We'll done the Igbo nation! |
What has President Goodluck Jonathan achieved in the four years and 11 months of his administration since February 9, 2010 when he became the Acting President? Let him show us one thing he has achieved. For example, I just came back from the South-East through the Sagamu-Benin Expressway. This was a road that was as smooth and beautiful as the German autobahn all through the eight years of President Olusegun Obasanjo and the two and half years of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. The Ore portion of this road was such a delight then that people spent just two minutes there instead of two days. When Yar’Adua became president in 2007, that portion of the expressway was so beautiful that his Minister of Transport, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, visited it but did not weep. Rather, she sang the Halleluya Chorus in ecstasy because of the beauty of the road. But Jonathan came in and destroyed that road and all other roads. When I passed through Ore this Christmas/New Year season, I was surprised at the havoc Jonathan had done to that road through the SURE-P programme. It took me six days to travel from Lagos to Onitsha and five and half days on my return trip! Last year, Jonathan inaugurated the destruction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, with Julius Berger handling the Lagos to Sagamu part and RCC handling the Sagamu to Ibadan part. When I visited Ibadan/Osogbo two months ago, I noticed that some portions of the road had already been destroyed. If the companies keep to the four-year destruction plan, by 2017, that road would have been fully destroyed. The Apapa-Oshodi Expressway that used to be loved by drivers of heavy-duty trucks because of its smoothness has now been destroyed by Jonathan. He has done the same thing to other wonderful roads in other parts of the country. What a man! Before 2010, farmers were being begged to collect as many bags of fertiliser as they liked. There was no iota of bribery and racketeering in fertiliser distribution. If you were passing by a bus stop, you would be begged to collect as many bags as you wanted. Consequently, Nigerian farmers produced so much food that Nigeria was able to feed itself and the entire Africa. But since Jonathan took over, fertiliser has become as scarce as elephant tusk. Bribery has taken over the distribution. We have not produced even a bag of rice since he came in. Who says that Jonathan is not a failure? When he came in, our aviation industry was the best in the world. Aeroplanes were not dropping from the Nigerian skies: EAS Airlines (May 4, 2002); Bellview Airlines (October 22, 2005), Sosoliso Airlines (December 10, 2005), ADC Airlines (October 29, 2006). Our airports were world class. In fact, the air conditioning system worked so well that the airport lounges were freezing to the point that snow formed inside them! Under Jonathan’s tenure, contracts were awarded to simultaneously destroy all the airports. In addition, Nigeria did not attain the prestigious Category 1 Certification in aviation. What about health? In 2014, the World Health Organsiation did not certify Nigeria free of the guinea worm disease. In 2014, it did not declare us Ebola-free. Bill Gates did not tweet in December 2014 – “One of my favourite stories of 2014: In just one year, Nigeria went from 50 polio cases to six”. Maternal mortality did not drop from 545/100,000 to 350/100,000 in four years under Jonathan. The one that pained me most about this Jonathan was the automotive policy. Before him, Nigeria was the number one exporter of cars. Cars were even being produced in the backyard of every Nigerian house. But since he came up with the new auto policy, auto companies have been running away from our country. What about electoral reforms? This President has destroyed our exceptional electoral system that was planted by former president Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999. In 2003, Obasanjo gave us one of the best elections. Peter Obi was not rigged out in Anambra. In 2007, while we were still jubilating about the magic of 2003, Obasanjo blessed us with the 2007 electoral miracle. All local and international observers endorsed the elections as the best in world history. Candidates did not protest. Chibuike Amaechi’s candidacy in Rivers State did not have any “K-leg”. Olusegun Mimiko was not rigged out in Ondo. In Edo, Osun and Ekiti governorship candidates of the opposition party were not rigged out. The 2007 presidential election was so good that Yar’Adua, who benefitted from the electoral artistry, praised the election to high heavens. Even the United States and the European countries flew in to beg Obasanjo and Prof Maurice Iwu of INEC to teach them how to organise exceptional elections. Nigerians felt tall. But when Jonathan supervised the 2011 elections, he gave us the worst ever. The Peoples Democratic Party bigwigs like Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, Speaker Dimeji Bankole, Obasanjo’s daughter, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, won by a landslide. The PDP won all the 36 states. Just last month, some ministers appointed by Jonathan resigned to contest governorship primaries in their states. This same Jonathan influenced the primaries and made them governorship candidates of the PDP in all the states for the February 2015 elections: Mr Musuliu Obanikoro (Lagos), Mr Labaran Maku (Nasarawa); Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu (Ebonyi), Mr Emeka Worgu (Abia), Dr Samuel Ortom (Benue), and Elder Godsday Orubebe (Delta). If it was Obasanjo, Senator Bola Tinubu, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari or Amaechi – who hate interfering in states – they would not influence the primaries for their associates to win. But this Jonathan is just too overbearing! Haba! Before now, other past presidents supported local production which resulted in Nigeria producing every single product it needed. Then, we were even exporting cement to the US and Europe. All the cement used for construction was bought from Nigeria. Immediately he came in, for the first time in history, we began to import cement. From 30 years ago to five years ago, we were exporting rice to Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the rest of the world. Our cocoa production was the highest in the world. Palm oil flowed like River Niger everywhere in the nation. Cotton was like saw dust. Groundnut pyramids filled every part of the North and even the South. Agriculture boomed. Other presidents supported agriculture massively. But today Jonathan has completely destroyed agriculture! This President needs to be whipped. What about the railway system? Before Jonathan came in, other presidents had so much supported the railway system that we had the best rail system in the world. Rail lines and modern trains traversed every state and local government area. But since he came in, he had given instructions that the rail tracks across the nation be excavated and that the rail system be killed forthwith. What a leader! This is a man who hates equity. He noticed that all states had federal institutions of higher learning. He went to nine states and closed down their federal universities: six in the North and three in the South. These states are Nasarawa, Taraba, Katsina, Jigawa, Gombe, Kogi, Bayelsa, Ekiti and Ebonyi. How can these states ever forgive this unjust man? Which one should I talk about and which one should I leave? This Jonathan has not done anything. He met a land flowing with milk and honey, a land where the infrastructure was the envy of even the US, a land that had the best economy in the world, a land with the best democratic ideals, a land of justice and fairness, but what did he do? He just destroyed everything and added no value. Let’s shave his head with a bottle shard, tie him to a pole at the Eagle Square and put an inscription over his head which reads: “Behold the father of failure!” After that, we then grab the guys at Oxford Dictionaries by the neck and force them to change the meaning of the word “failure. Punchng.com/ 20/1/2015 What a great failure! |

Ikpeba, my guy, unfortunately, Buhari doesn't even have such bill to present. He hasn't been paying his light bills. You don't give what you don't have. It's rather unfortunate! But Ikpeba you seemed to be living in the 80's. Nepa does not exist any more. Obasanjo had since changed it to Phcn. |
oh boy, na serious matter oooh! where did this come from. is this for real? what level of desperation is this? |
Politics is a game. Therefore fair play should be one of its cardinal principle. Tolerance of the antics of opponent is another great principle. I grew up believing that the northern politician were more mature in their approach to politicking than its southern counterpart. Recent events have provided evidence to prove otherwise. Whereas the southern politician is more accommodating and tolerant of each other's political affiliation, the northerners, especially the Hausa/ Fulani politician is more parochial in approach. Mobilization along regional, ethnic and religious line has become the hallmark of politicking in the northern part of the country than the south. That PDP politicians are afraid to campaign for president Jonathan in the north for fear for their life is the height of intolerant for opposing political views. I passed through Ogbia the president's home town from Brass the other day, and I saw posters of Buhari in some street corners. Nobody tore them or prevented any one from pasting them. But in cosmopolitan Kano, you don't dare paste GEJ's poster. The other day we were told that some drivers refused to convey PDP and GEJ branded vehicles to Kano for fear for their lives. Some northern governors are daily threatened verbally and through text messages for supporting GEJ. Including some Islamic clerics, like Gumi. Amaechi, Timi Frank and co daily rain abuses on GEJ while campaigning for Buhari without physical retaliation from GEJ ethnic group. In fact, Amaechi is even Buhari campaign DG. Why are the Hausas playing politics of bitterness? Must they gain power by force? Is this politics? Is this a preparation for war that is imminent if GEJ wins the 2015 election? |
Less than a month after anointing First Lady Patience Jonathan, assuring her of the president's second term, fiery catholic priest and founder of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka, has predicted that President Goodluck Jonathan would lose February's election. Citing a bird that failed to fly in a ritual he performed, Mbaka said the reality on ground now as well as a revelation from God did not favour Jonathan's continuity beyond May 29 this year. This ”revelation from God” came in the form of one of the birds – which ”symbolized the President” – that he released during Mrs. Jonathan’s visit to his Adoration Ground refusing to fly. Delivering a sermon tagged, “From Good luck to Bad luck” during the end-of-year Adoration mass to usher in the new year Wednesday night, Father Mbaka said he and millions of other compatriots were disappointed by the Jonathan administration which has failed to ensure the release of the Chibok girls kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorists over 200 days ago. He lampooned the President for ”his poor performance” in the past six years, Rev. Fr. Mbaka had anointed Mrs. Patience Jonathan as the next Nigerian First Lady in 2015 when she, alongside the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Nwanneka , worshipped at the Adoration Ministry. Fr. Mbaka had, after anointing Mrs. Jonathan that day, released some birds to go and fight for Jonathan. The First Lady had announced that she had experienced “a spiritual rebirth” at the event. But last Wednesday night at the end-of-year Adoration mass, Mbaka said Jonathan was going nowhere as far as this year’s election was concerned, recalling that one of the birds – which symbolized the President – he released during Mrs. Jonathan’s visit to the Adoration Ground had refused to fly. “All the other birds I released flew away but the healthiest of them, which is Jonathan’s bird, could not fly. I tried to make it fly but it could not fly,” he told the huge excited congregation that cheered him on. Hmmmmmm! Wonders shall never end. Rev Mbaka the prophet. Pray you are really saying what God reveal to you. Since our God is not a God of confusion, how then do one rationalise Mbaka's earlier prediction of overwhelming victory for Jonathan that he gave Patience. Men of God remember, diaris God ooooooh! |
Why jonathan? It's a senate thing. Why bringing jonathan into legislative matter. It's your type that will accuse the president of high handed ness if he dabbled into legislative issue. Blame the senate and not jonathan, please. |
Indications emerged on Sunday why the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) was initially keen on fielding a Muslim/Muslim candidate for the 2015 presidential election. Despite the fact that its former member and one-time Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode raised an alarm on the issue earlier in 2014, top APC chieftains still tried to sell the idea which was rejected by many Nigerians and even APC members. APC national leader and former Lagos State governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his successor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, former Federal Capital Territory Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the party’s presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (all Muslims) among others, at one time or the other, insisted there was nothing wrong with same-religion ticket. A point the APC and those who believed in the controversial game plan gave as reference, was that since Nigeria remains an indivisible entity, a Muslim/Muslim ticket was no big deal. They were also quick to use the 1993 presidential election, where Chief M.K.O. Abiola contested along with Baba Gana Kingibe on the Social Democratic Party (SDP) platform as a reference. APC and its kingmakers would later bow to pressure and the noise generated by the Muslim/Muslim ticket reduced with the emergence of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor, as the running mate to Gen. Buhari. But more reasons on why the APC was desperate to have a Muslim from South-West have surfaced, as a source confided in DAILY POST that the politics that shrouded the insistence by Tinubu to present either himself or a loyal Muslim candidate was more than what was visible to the eyes of Nigerians. According to him, a major reason behind the Muslim/Muslim ticket was to have Nigeria’s presidency be within the grasp of the South-West region in the event Buhari finds it difficult to carry on as the nation’s leader. Buhari’s health scare Our source, knowledgeable of happenings within the corridors of power, Aso Rock, said there is a security report concerning the health of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the APC presidential standard bearer. The report, he told DAILY POST, shows that the 72 year-old former Head of State may not live more than a year or two if he assumes office as Nigeria’s President in 2015. “Many people think the presidency or the PDP is trying to portray Buhari in a bad light or declare him unfit for the nation’s topmost job but the information I am giving you is authentic”, he alleged. Asked to provide specifics of the content of the security report to back up his claim, the source said: “A part of it goes thus: Should Buhari win, he may not be able to complete a single four-year tenure due to his health condition; he has continued to manage his health secretly. “Let me ask you these questions: Why do you think Tinubu was ready to risk a Muslim/Muslim ticket? Why do you think he presented himself at the eleventh hour when talks were on to pick Buhari’s running mate? When he failed in his quest, why do you think he picked his associate of 20 years?” “The truth is that Tinubu and his cohorts know that the demands of office will tell on Buhari and same will either kill him or weigh him down excessively,” the source added. North not backing Buhari The source further told DAILY POST that powers that be in the North are not comfortable with the choice of Buhari. “Look, many eminent personalities in the North are not supporting Buhari’s candidature because they also know this fact. “They are aware that Buhari may not see 2019, so they don’t want to gamble. We all know there exists a Northern cabal and these guys will rather wait for President Jonathan to complete his eight years and hand over to them. They want eight years too! “So, they have agreed not to throw their weight behind Buhari, who may not even see four years through. The North do not want a repetition of the Yar’ Adua saga; they are being very careful. “This is because if anything happens to Buhari, power will return to the South, South-West for that matter and this may happen less than a decade after Baba Obasanjo left Aso Rock. “Not just that, power will effectively be in the hands of Bola Tinubu because Osinbajo is his confirmed stooge. Can you now see all these indices? Now, who in his or her right senses would believe that the North are backing Buhari. Certainly, not the North I know”. The Obasanjo angle DAILY POST also gathered that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is in the know of the permutation being worked out by Tinubu. “Some Nigerians are so gullible”, our source said. “What do you think Tinubu was going to do in Obasanjo’s house in Ota? To eat eba and vegetable soup?” He quipped rhetorically. “He was part of the grand plan for Buhari to win APC presidential primary because they know he won’t last. He is on a mission, alongside the APC, to retain power in the South. “They are planning to short-change the North again and the Arewa hierarchy have uncovered the plot. Like I said before, many prominent Northern leaders have taken a decision not to endorse the Buhari’s and an APC presidency because they also have access to the security report on his health. “Obasanjo is aware of the document; Tinubu too. So they know very well what they are doing.” DAILY POST had earlier gathered that President Goodluck Jonathan allegedly raised the issue of Buhari candidacy vis-à-vis his age and health during his homage to former Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Banagida. Jonathan had on Saturday visited IBB at his Hilltop mansion in Minna, Niger State. On his entourage were National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki; his Chief of Staff, Gen. Jones Arogbofa; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Muhammed; former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi and Senator Ahmadu Ali, among others. Jonathan, who canvassed support for his reelection ambition, was said to have appealed to his host to reach out to influential Northern leaders to back his 2015 bid. The president also reportedly reiterated his promise to hand over power to a Northerner in 2019. Efforts to get the reaction of the APC national publicity secretary, Lai Mohammed, on the purported health report on Buhari were futile. He did not pick callls to his mobile line on Sunday and Monday. http://dailypost.ng/ Omo, see Gobe! |

Op, are you been mischievous or genuinely ignorant? Every country has its own visa. Even South Sudan that became a nation in 2012 has it's own visa. Nigeria visa has a green background with complex security features. It is issued in all our embassies by immigration officers. Nigeria visa are also issued on arrival to some foreigners who either got approval for such issuance from the comptroller general of immigration service or there is a bilateral agreement between Nigeria and the foreigner's country. |
jaso1:You and Buhari are the ones spewing rubbish. Where is the missing $2.8b, approximately $420b in today's value . If buhari who was petroleum minister when this sum was alleged to have been missing believed the allegation is not true, why then is he peddling the Sanusi's imaginary $20b. This is bare faced hypocracy. |

Former Speaker, Tambuwal you speak like an uneducated person. Agreed that you were not the party's candidate for speaker. If you were not a member of the party, would you have contested at all? Why is it that only members of the PDP contested for the speakership. Why did the ACN, CPC, APGA , accord, labour, etc, members not contest? Why did you not defect to ACN then and contest. The position of Speaker was reserved for the party with the majority members. That party was PDP. That you were not supported by the party is not an issue. That you can even go against your party's directive shows your high level of indiscipline and ambition. You are not a leader if you refused to be led yourself. That you lasted this long as Speaker shows you are good at your game. But, Alhaji, nothing lasts forever. Your people may elect you as governor because of their blind hatred for Jonathan. But I assure you, dishonorable sir, it will be a different kettle of fish. |
Chinua Achebe of course! Whereas Soyinka was writing for the elites, Achebe was for the masses. Achebe's books like, Things fall Apart, No longer at Ease, A man of the people, etc, has a great impact in the minds of the youths, than Soyinka's. A man died was full of unintelligent jargon that only him and a few others understood. Soyinka may have won an undeserved Nobel laurel, but in the mind of the youth, Achebe stands out. |

Aljazeera analysts are lazy fools. Just like the typical muslims they are behaving like the proverbial ostrich. Burying its head in the sand while its main body is exposed. More than 80% of towns taken over by bh are christian dominated areas. These people voted almost 100% for GEJ during 2011 election. The President, Students Union Government of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Mr. Isaac Ibikunle, has described as falsehood the report in some quarters that students of the university hurled stones and other missiles at President Goodluck Jonathan during his visit to the campus on Friday. The SUG president spoke in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo on Saturday. He said that students of the university insisted on discussing with Jonathan on the increment of the fees charged by the school and the President obliged. He said, “We read some reports that the President was stoned, booed and harassed when he came to our campus. This is not correct. “Security personnel initially prevented us from seeing the president but we insisted that we wanted to discuss with him and we were allowed to see him. “We told him that the increment was too high, and gave him a petition concerning the exorbitant fees and he assured us that he would act on it fast. “I asked Mr. President to come down from the car and address us and he came down. He is our president, we did not harass him.” Ibikunle added that the President was even hailed by the students and those present when his helicopter was taking off at the university’s sports centre. He also said that no traditional ruler was embarrassed contrary to the reports in some online media. Some Yoruba leaders held a summit at the Oduduwa Hall of the OAU and Jonathan was invited as a special guest of honour at the event which had the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade and other prominent obas and Yourua leaders in attendance. If APGA members decamped and the speaker did not declare their seat vacant, then he is failing in his duty. Since the construction is silent on who declares the speaker's seat vacant when he defects, then the law takes mandatory effect. The constitution says any member who defect from the party under which he is elected to a diffent party shall lose his seat. The arm of government that is statutorily empowered to enforce the law is the executive. That my friend is where the police comes in. |
MURIC and the prof should go and die! I work where mr president passes through regularly. I ve never seen a white man amongst his security details. Infact some of his security agents are people I work with. No single non Nigerians among them. This is another lie from the pit of hell. Just like the Asari involvement in $9.3m arms deal and jews symbol in our new N100 note. God will punish all the enemies of this nation, amennnnn! |
Ekiti Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has restored all the privileges of former Governor Olusegun Oni which were allegedly stopped by the administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi. A statement in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, said the Governor took the step in appreciation of the contributions of past leaders in the state. “Governor Ayo Fayose is restoring all the privileges of former Governor Segun Oni. His portrait among those who have led the state that was removed from the Governor’s Office by former Governor Kayode Fayemi has been returned. “All those who served with him and whose portraits and other souvenirs were removed by the past administration such as former chief press secretaries among others, have been returned. “It was the Fayemi’s administration that even stopped their financial entitlements when it made the House of Assembly to pass a bill that Oni and Fayose were not due for such. “The excuse they gave was that Fayose did not complete his tenure and Oni’s tenure was unknown to law because the court removed him from office. “The Fayose’s administration appreciates the contributions of those who have led the state in the past and would not in anyway rubbish such. We are ready to acknowledge all and would not because of political differences rubbish what people have done in the past,” the statement said. The height of magnanimity! Never knew Gov Fayose can be this forgiving. ONI decamped to APC and campaigned seriously against Fayose's election. Wish our leaders can see politics as just a game. There must be a winner and a loser. |
