Ok Desperate Girls what and who are you desperate for? love? men? success? To say one is desperate implies that one is depressed and prepared to do anything as in compromising themselves to get whatever they are desperate for.

Da Brat=Bad Girl. The name suggests that one is mischievous, goes against the norm and tough. A good thing for all those feminists out there, especially the lesbians and guys who like butch girls.

Spice Girls = A different spice for everyone to spice up their lives. (from dictionary) an element providing interest and excitement.

PussyCat Dolls = Sexy and alluring. When men hear the words Pussy Cat, they think of something alluring, soft, gentle, feminine and inviting. Well at least most men in the Western hemisphere do. grin Then there is the colloquial definition of 'Pussy' which tends to send men crazy with excitement. cool

Desperate girls= (taken from Oxford Dictionary) 1 feeling, showing, or involving despair. 2 extremely bad or serious: violent or dangerous.

Then again, the name could be a tribute to the comedy show 'Desperate Housewives' but the music doesn't suggest that as it appears to like they are trying to be serious artists but no one is going to take them seriously with a name like that.

He probably has lot more cash stashed away in Nigeria that the charity commission couldn’t touch or investigate. I mean if it is £120,000 of his birthday alone then what else? I am sure that is just the tip of the iceberg.

I clearly remember attending KICC in Hackney as a student. Mr Ash in his Italian suits and snake skin shoes would ask the congregation for £200. He asked for those who could give £200 to stand up and raise their hands and people started holding up their credit cards and cheque books. Mr Ash then proceeded to pray for those people only. That more or less told me that if I didn’t have £200 to spare then I couldn’t receive prayer and neither was I worthy to be in Church.

I am glad he was investigated and I hope they continue to monitor him because questions need to be asked.

I see you are awake!! lol Yes oooH!!!! Never mind that the failure is potentially as a result of inadequate planning on the side of those who funded this plan, it is definitely the western model of the design that is the problem. Yeah, what we need is to pump maybe another Naira 100 billion into Africanizing the whole project. I mean that will definitely heal Tinapa!! BRILLIANT!!! Lol
I can’t even imagine cost of maintenance of such a complex, let alone repairs that the people will be paying out of pocket on this.

LoL@ you trying to be sarcastic.

To clarify the new strategy I was thinking about involved making the place more accessible to ALL Nigerians and not just those that can afford to buy non-fake designer wares and goods.

There is always going to be shortage of such stores and shops to fill a development as vast as Tinaba, never mind customers but I am sure there is no shortage of the regular MamaPuts, carpenters and whatnots to open up shop there. Give the place some life so to speak and welcome all Nigerians not just the super rich ones. That strategy doesn't cost billions of naira. Sure the developers will lose money but at least they will have some trickling in. My vision was more of a an all purpose indoor market like Tejusho in Lagos but with a little bit of class. It is far removed from the western model of shopping malls but it would probably work and be successful as well as beneficial to the average Nigerian.
Politics / Re: "Nobody Goes To Nigeria"-"biggest White Elephant Ever" by EloSela(f): 9:33am On Apr 13, 2009
Tinapa looked impressive on paper.

I had great hopes for it. They desperately need to come up with a new strategy to get the place moving. If this place is going to cater to the average Nigerian then a new shopping model needs to be developed that will get Nigerians visiting and shopping. Do away with the western model as that won't work in a Nigerian setting.

Of course there are going  to be some but the majority will still an issue with it.

America, for the most part is a Christian country with a good few who are deeply religious. To see their representative bowing down to a Muslim King when he barely did the the same to a Christian Queen who also just happens to be the Head of a major church will not do hime any favours especially when he claimed that to be a Christian.

Then there are those whose perspective of the POTUS is that he is the 'Leader of the free world' and whether you like it or not the 'Leader of the free world' prostrating to another Leader of the Muslim world is a major disrespect to the US.

Agreed that America has bigger fish to fry with the economy crisis but I can just see Osama Bin Laden bringing out another video insulting America e.g. "The filthy capitalist American pigs have finally been brought to these knees!" and using that very clip to prove his point. This chicken will surely come home to roost later.

On a personal note, Obama didn't have to do that OTT bow to the King. Some Arabs already see black Africans as inferior beings and so to see a Black man who is the Head of State of a powerful country bow down to their King won't do anything to correct that false image they already have of us.

Obama bowing to the King of Saudi sends out the wrong message. Excuse me if this sounds like religious bashing as that is not my intention but didn't Obama claim that he was a Christian?

So he meets the Christian Queen of England who is also the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, the mother church of the Anglican Communion and Episcopal churches which has over 100 million leaders worldwide but doesn't bow even though he is on her home turf.

Then he meets the Saudi King, not on his home turf who is also protector of two of the holiest mosques in the world and of the holiest lands of Mecca and Medina and bows like his life depends on it. Is he a closet Muslim? If he is a Muslim then there is absolutely  nothing wrong with that but why the transparency?

Something isn't right

A-town:

From your comments, you're obviously the small one. I bet you're still in college. Let me talk to you like an adult would a small girl.
I told you initially that Ignorance is not an excuse.
Why would you state that there are no britons living in Nigeria illegaly. Do you know what it entails to get the Nigerian "Green Card"
Even the "legal residents" in Nigeria have to bribe customs to get back in everytime because what they hold are regular visas. In case you didn't know, these visas are mostly Business visas and tourist visas that don't allow the foreigners to receive any income while in Nigeria.
I don't make comments without having facts my dear girl. I work for a Multinational company that sends Brits and Americans to Nigeria all the time and i know what the Bleep i'm talking about.
There are hundreds of Brits and Lebanese who own ships at Apapa ports. 98% of them have no legal papers to do business in Nigeria. All they have is entry visas.
The fact that you are so stuck up won't let you open your eyes. You think Brits are so special so they have no reason to be illegal in Nigeria.
Well my dear girl, they plenty for naija well well because they make 1000000% more money than they would ever make in the UK doing illegal shit in naija.
Of course you have, the major companies who bring in expatriates on legal work permits. Thats y i didn't say 100% are illegal.

Regarding your statement about me knowing the difference between illegal/legal immigrants. My girl go and sit down. You probably weren't born when i started dealing with immigration.
If most Nigerians had been truthful during their embassy interviews, 99.5% would have been denied.
For students, they ask u if you're going back home after your studies and many lie. How many people received jobs abroad and turned down the offer just to fulfill the "lack of intent to immigrate" they stated at the embassy.
The only people you can complain about are those people that enter without visas. Those are the people that have been illegal from the start.
Most people, including the man in question were LEGAL at some point till they overstayed their visas so SHUT THE Bleep UP.

If you think I am going to take the mumbo jumbo as fact then you are even more stupid than I thought.

Again PROVIDE SOME HARD CORE PROOF that there are Brits Lebanese or the other nationals you mentioned who are illegal immigrants in Nigeria. Post an article or some stats from an official site, publication or other to prove that the dribble you posted is not just a lot of hot air and gas drummed up in support of the illegal Nigerians in the UK.

Do that or you shut the F!UCK UP you biscuit headed fool!! grin

That being said, if there are illegals of any country in Nigeria then they need to go home to. I do not support illegal immigration in any shape or form as I said initially. Why is it is so hard for some Nigerians on here to comprehend that a black person can also have such views?

I am off to enjoy Christmas with my family now but I will back after a few days to respond to any more drivel that you may care to post. cool

Your folks were never illegal. .  .  . Hmm. Unless they are both white, which i doubt. Even if your parents are british, then your grandparents must have lobbied the system in order to get residency. Unless no one from your generation was born in Nigeria, you need to quit the nonsense about illegal immigration.
Some people have the luxury to come in on student visas, then after they get jobs, legalize their stay and claim they did the thing legally. Bullshit. Every damn Nigerian had the same intention when they left Nigeria. TO ESTABLISH RESIDENCY. The fact that some people only had access to tourist visas does not make them any more illegal than you.

Ignorance is not an excuse. There thousands of BRITS, DANISH, ITALIANS, PHILLIPINOS, ans LEBANESE in Nigeria illegally.
How many of them have legal work permits? My dear its the same every where. Nigerians might be overdoing it but it is common everwhere and stop being ignorant
All the yeye oyinbos wey full lagos, why them never leave since. How many of them get legal permit? I used to think it was minimal till i came back and Lekki/V.I is virtually dominated by foreigners. Compare the number of foreigners we have to the legal number available at the Nigeria Immigration Service and you will realize that only 0.1% of them have any legal status. The worst thing is that most of them evade taxes as well. So please shut up with the Illegal Immigration bullshit.
As an advice,
This is the internet, the abuses you guys rain around has no impact on anyone so stop wasting Nairaland's cyberspace storage. Kapeesh
@

To reiterate, my folks were never illegal. There are plenty of Nigerians who legally apply for residency for the various countries they wish to reside in and emigrate there legally. Furthermore do you even know the difference between LEGAL and ILLEGAL Why bring up Nigerians who are legally in the UK on tourist or student visas and equate them with being an illegal immigrant. Do you stupidly think that every Nigerian who leaves Nigeria really has an agenda to stay away for good? How old are you? 12?

Illegal Britons in Nigeria I don't think so. Try again and this time post some proof because you are beginning to sound like a madman on crack. The only illegal aliens in Nigeria are probably the ones from Mali, Niger and other neighbouring African countries. In case you didn't know more often than not the foreigners you see around Lekki are probably expatriates from varying countries whose multinational employers would have made it their legal duty to ensure that their staff  have the right visas. Stop trying to make out like Nigeria is some paradise roaming with oyibo illegal immigrants. I am sure that if a citizen from a western  or developed country wanted to reside anywhere then the LAST place they would consider would be Nigeria.

Furthermore the last time I checked you weren't responsible for my electricity or internet bill so you really shouldn't concern yourself about what I post on here or even embarrass yourself by trying to tell me how to post. cool

Your thinking is so hilarious to me. grin

So what do you call a Limited Leave to Remain? Is it a right to live in the UK or not? undecided Is an Indefinite Leave to Remain the only 'right' to stay in the UK that you are aware of? undecided

You simply just like to infer so many anomaly into this man's case. No where was it stated he was using a false documents, however he was working illegally. There are companies who are ready to take on cheap employment to people without papers in the UK and the UK government is seriously tracking them down.

I would rather prefer to think he was employed by such companies that engage illegal immigrants within the UK.

I doubt that there are any employers in the UK that would risk employing a person without papers. That aside the man in the video gave a false name when arrested and so it is more than likely that he had false ID in that name and was employed with it.

About your friend who you claim was granted the right to stay after being held in detention for a few weeks: rolls eyes

Was he granted the right to stay in the UK indefinitely or was there a limit given to the amount of stay or not? Stop dancing around the houses and answer the question! You previously used the argument that implied that one could simply give themselves up to the authorities after being on the run for 14 years and then be granted the 'right to stay'. Why would you even use this friend's story to defend your stance if they were only given the 'right' to 'limited' stay

Pataki:

@ Elosela,

How does he was granted a right to stay translate to an indefinite leave as inferred by you? If you are not clear on this matter, it is better to ask rather than jump on a false assumption and try to force it down as your point. I am sure you are not intellectually handicapped not to know that there is ''limited leave to remain'', ''further leave to remain'', and your prized ''indefinite leave to remain''.

While you are so passionate about wanting him deported, labeling him as a criminal and not meeting the requirement for the 14year rule, I can most assuredly tell you that within the UK, issues like this are easy to work around with it.

In respect to your last question pertaining to what has he achieved, I do not know as I have never in such shoes.

Pataki the man absconded and is more than likely using false documents to continue working in the UK hence the reason why the Police are now involved. This man has labelled himself by failing to comply with the rules of the land that he wishes to live in. In case it escaped you, it is a criminal offence in the UK to use or to be in possession of false documentation.

Subsections (1) and (2) set out the circumstances in which a person is guilty of an offence if he is in possession of a document which he knows or believes to be false or a genuine document that has been improperly obtained or relates to someone else. To be guilty of the offence the person must have the intention that the document be used for identity fraud.

Subsections (3) and (4) create a similar offence in relation to the possession of equipment which is designed or adapted for making false identity documents.

Subsection (6) sets out the maximum penalties for such offences as being 10 years imprisonment or a fine or both.
.

Here is the act in full: http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk/content.aspx?LegType=All+Legislation&title=Identity+Cards+Act+2006&searchEnacted=0&extentMatchOnly=0&confersPower=0&blanketAmendment=0&sortAlpha=0&TYPE=QS&PageNumber=1&NavFrom=0&parentActiveTextDocId=2321581&ActiveTextDocId=2321616&filesize=7326

The above in effect makes every illegal immigrant using false documents to work a criminal under British law.
You know good and well that you were not referring to 'limited leave to remain' when you told that story about your friend. You clearly state that after a few weeks he was granted the right to stay in the UK, the key word here being 'right'.

That being said can you also explain the difference between having the 'right to stay in the UK' and 'indefinite leave' please?

Jigaboo still ranting for not having a father eh?  grin

Nah, talking about your coon of a father whose name you can't seem to stop calling up in here you dim-witted bitch.

Pataki:

In your haste to make a point, you are seriously jumping before the gun. The case was referred to the police after he absconded, it still does not confer on him the status of a criminal. You would rather want to call him such.  wink I have asked you before, are you aware of the UK immigration laws that allows that illegal immigrant who have stayed for over 14years in the UK, can change their illegal status to a legal right to stay? I am also aware that illegal immigrants have the option to leave the UK voluntarily and apply from their country of origin or any other country where they have a legal right to live in. And if they refuse, when caught face a 10 year ban.

You may choose not to believe my story as you are limited to your own reasoning however I am not telling you a make-up story but a story with fact as I personally know whom was involved with the case. And more importantly, where have I stated that he was granted an indefinite leave to remain?   You are seriously jumping before the gun. Take a chill pill and read my inputs very well.

These are your very words.

After weeks of detention and all sorts of procedures, following his honesty and sincerity, he was granted a right to stay in the UK.

If I'm honest I will now say that I wasn't entirely clear on the 14 immigration rule and but I have now looked it up. Now, going by your statements one would believe that they have a guaranteed right to remain in the UK under the 14 year LRC rules when that is far from the truth.

Here are the facts:

There is a popular myth that if you have lived in the UK 'illegally' for 14 years or 14 years of any legality or have been here lawfully for 10 years you are entitled to stay. Not so, there are many legal provisos that must be complied with for both categories before residency would be granted.

However, immigration history is relevant to the fourteen-year Rule. Clearly, it would not be appropriate to refuse leave on the grounds of conduct simply because the applicant is an overstayer or illegal entrant, as that would defeat the purpose of the Rule. However, the Rule is not intended to reward people for their success in evading, or failing to cooperate with, the immigration control. Therefore, any deliberate or blatant attempts to circumvent the control, e.g. by absconding, contracting a marriage of convenience or using false documents (this is not an exhaustive list) may well mean that it is not in the public interest to grant leave.

http://www.ncadc.org.uk/resources/residence.html

So going by the above the man in the video has already shot himself in the foot by absconding and as the police are involved he is now a wanted criminal. Also taking the above into consideration, plenty of illegal Nigerians use false documentation to work and so there isn't a chance in hell that they would be given leave to remain after illegally breaking the law for 14 years.

Again, looking at the bigger picture, what did the man in the video achieve?

I am not so sure whether absconding now entails him as a criminal. If it were ever so, it would have been clearly stated.  I know of a person who stayed in the UK illegally, never got arrested and decided one day to walk to the police station all by himself to surrender himself to the police. He was arrested by the police and Home Office was contacted.

After weeks of detention and all sorts of procedures, following his honesty and sincerity, he was granted a right to stay in the UK. Cases differ and yes you have a right to your argument but your attitude of passing across your message was in a condescending tone.

In the documentary it stated clearly that the case had now been referred to the police and so that means it is now a police matter; a criminal matter. If you knew anything about the UK then you would also know that more often than not each government body works independently of the other. My point being that if immigration felt that this case had nothing to do with the police whose duty it is to help restore law and order to society then they wouldn't have referred the case to them.

It is a well known fact that in order for an illegal immigrant to become legal they must go back to their own country on their own accord and expense in order to apply for the proper visa there. In the UK , there is currently no such amnesty in place which allows an illegal immigrant to give themselves up so that they can go through the proper procedures in order to be granted indefinite leave to remain like that. That would not only make a complete mockery of the system but also be highly unfair to those who had chosen to go through the proper channels in order to legally live and work in the UK.

Given that fact I don't believe one bit of the story about your friend as there is no way they would have been granted indefinite stay in the country by simply walking into the police station.  As I have said there are others who have taken the time to go through the proper channels so why would he be rewarded for breaking the law? Especially when respect of the law of the land is the fundamental rule of citizenship?

And please, do not involve me in your brou-haha! she made a funny statement, I laughed! simple as that.

You don't know for certain either, so I guess we can disagree on that. The fact remains however, that there are more Nigerian born individuals who reside legally in the UK than there are illegal ones. This proves my point that if others can follow the correct legal procedures in order to gain legal residency regardless of how long it takes, then so can everybody else. Those who choose to break the rules without proper cause to do so should be treated accordingly. If that man really feared for his life then he should have applied for asylum instead of absconding at the first chance he got.

I am not involving you in anything, I just made a comment. You on the other hand should try not to get involved if that is not your intention.

And herein lies the problem with Nigerians. Always taking short cuts, breaking the law in the process and at the same time demanding to be treated like law abiding citizens.  Your point is mute! If other Nigerians can go through the correct visa process and wait their time, whether it takes five years or less then so can others. There should be no special allowances for people who choose to break the law. Even if it does take five years to get another visa then it takes five years. Deal with it and stop trying to illegally obtain what you are not entitled to.

Again what is the point of living life on the run when one can simply go home to Nigeria and make a better life for themselves.

I see you and Dog face aka Karma mod are buddies? hmmmmmmm

Umm, ok so we know by now that you're a UK citizen but really, you're beginning to force it.

You won't hesitate to call the immigration officials?? why?? Oh yeah, you're the most patriotic person ever!
Do you really know how hard it is in Nigeria for the less pivileged? why would anybody want to sneak into somewhere if they could enter more easily?

By the way, what have you done for your UK? I mean we know you can't be deported and all,  Immigrants actually work harder than those
who have lived in a country all their lives. why? Because immigrants know the importance of the opportunity staring in front of them.
And they make good use of it. Not in support of illegal immigrants but hey, they had no choice! Take a chill pill.

Please. .  .Everybody has a choice, whether one is a Nigerian or otherwise. Nigeria is the land of opportunities.   .   .or so I read every day on Nairaland.

I tend to have more respect for the Nigerians who enter the country on a 3 month visa (used to be 6) and then work (albeit illegally) but go back home when their time is up, applying again after some time so that they restart the process again. I feel such Nigerians are more beneficial to the Nigerians and the economy in Nigeria as they often start businesses to help themselves and their families. Some even get themselves in a better position financially to send their Nigerian born children abroad on legitimate student visas and paid fees who will in turn return to Nigeria as educated professionals.

I don't know how the illegal immigrant in the video clip plans to better himself while he is on the run from immigration and the police and constantly looking over his shoulder and so my view still stands.

You don't really believe that he would be killed once he landed in Nigeria do you?

@ EloSela

Do you really think some of these guys have a choice? You really should think before you type.

He has a choice to go back home or to be on the run for the rest of his life. Which would you choose?

tpia:

you may not support illegal immigrants but there's no call for this attitude:

you may think you have all your bases covered and nothing can touch you, but someday you can also be regarded as a parasite where you are.

The guy is working- he was arrested at his job. He may be illegal, but in what way is he a parasite? Thats unnecessarily cruel and absolutely uncalled for.

You feel you're better than Nigeria but your attitude is so typically Nigerian its as if you never even left the place.

The term 'parasite' wouldn't stick too firmly on a legal tax paying citizen. grin grin

I referred to the illegal immigrant as a parasite because even though he is 'working' he has no right to do so in the UK. I also doubt that he is paying taxes because of his current status would only afford him a job earning around £7000 or so a year and in the UK  one doesn't get taxed on such low wages. People like him probably work two or three such jobs under different IDs and do not pay any tax at all because the annual salaries don't meet the threshold;   Three such jobs do add up to quite a tidy sum, tax free.
Then he probably uses the NHS and other free amenities at will so yeah to reiterate illegal immigrants are parasites and should be deported with a quickness! Call it cruel but the truth hurts.

KarmaMod:

Imagine, a nigger calling others "parasites"

Rofl

You really think the BNP doesnt consider you one, "legal or not"

Why should I ignore you? Are you being intentionally dumb or what? Why didn't you ignore me you filthy Dyke

Go and look up the word 'cunt' and next time try to engage that your big empty head into some kind of sensible rationale before deciding to use it again with the same few words that you often like to recycle every now and again in this forumLunatic Is that the best you can do? You are so frustrated and amazingly frigid it is unbelievable. If you can't find a real life d!ck then please get yourself a rabbit (.  .   .read Love Machine) in order to help relieve some of that pent up tension in your a$$. Self righteous Bitch!

Pataki:

So you do not know of the rule in the UK immigration law that even after 14years of illegal stay in the UK, avoiding all authorities if possible, you can apply for a legal stay? undecided

I do not support illegal migration but your previous statement was way beyond your league. If you are so bothered about sending illegal immigrants back, why are you not so bothered to tackle the thieves and rogues we have as leaders in Nigeria?

I doubt that that bloke would be able to do that as he is now listed as an 'absconder' and his details have now been referred to the police. In short, he is now a criminal.

I also don't think it is my responsibility to worry about the types of leaders Nigeria has because the way I see it, such leaders are the product of their environment. It is down to Nigerians in Nigeria to sort out their own issues instead of illegally seeking to reside in countries that they have no right to be in.

I have no sympathy for such Nigerians who will take short cuts and  jump through hoops of fire to get to the UK or the US but won't take the time out to persevere and go through the proper channels in order to obtain the proper documentation to live where they want. There are plenty of Nigerians that have taken the proper route to get where they want to be in their host countries of choice and most are not all from rich Nigerian families either.
Politics / Re: “I’ll Rather Die Here Than Go Back To Nigeria” Nigerian Man To Uk Immigration by EloSela(f): 10:34pm On Dec 22, 2008
@tpia

I don't believe in illegal immigration whether it be Nigerians or any other nationality. Now Legal immigrants I have respect for because from when one decided to take the necessary steps and the time involved to go about legalizing their right to stay in a country of their choice they do so with the best intentions.

Illegal immigrants often falsely go ahead and apply for visitor's visas when they have every intention of overstaying their welcome. Then when they are caught they not only act like they have done nothing wrong, but also tell fantastic lies and start blubbering like the man in the video did, claiming that they their passports are lost or have been sent back to Nigeria and about how they are afraid for their lives if they go back there.

If you are offended then there is nothing that I can do about that as I just don't support illegal immigration and neither do I support liars.
