Why are you are adding your two cents? With that your ogbologbo head! Silly uptight bitch!

@Forum

I can't believe that you are in here defending an illegal immigrant and a liar at that. The man has no right to be in Britain and should go back to his own country without making a fuss. What's he going to do? Spend the rest of his life on the run using a fake ID? I thought life was better in Nigeria?

It is people like him that give hard working honest LEGAL Nigerians in the UK a bad name.

I was recently in Singapore. Beautiful country with loads of shopping! grin

Congratulations to the Singaporean government for finally having the sense to implement these strict rules for Nigerians visitors. The majority of Nigerian visitors to the Island wouldn't know what it meant to respect themselves or behave accordingly within the law of the land if it smacked them in the face. grin
Politics / Re: What Are Nigerians Known For Abroad, Good Or Bad, What Do You Think? by EloSela(f): 3:48pm On Dec 22, 2008
Nigerians are known for thinking everyone is incapable of making sense but them and so they foolishly continue to break the law because they believe that they are invincible. When they are eventually caught they tend to come up with the most stupidest of lies which make them appear dumber than dumber than anyone with pea for a brain.
Check out the story of the lady who fraudently claimed over £1million in benefits and then blamed the whole thing on juju, even going as far as to show severed fingers of her baby to a British judge thinking that that would get her off.

Case in point:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1054752/Jailed-Mother-held-daughters-severed-fingers-court-claimed-voodoo-curse-commit-1m-benefit-fraud.html
Plenty more cases like these.

Nigerians are parasites. They will foolsihly take up residence in a foreign land believing that they have every right to be there but then neglect to go about taking the necessary steps to legalize their stay.

Because Nigerians come from a lawless society most will take up residence in a foreign land and then commit crimes like using fasle IDs to claim benefits, apply for jobs and other amenities that they are not entitled to.

Nigerians are known as fraudsters all around the world.

Nigeria is the only place where yahooze, fraudsters and 419ers are celebrated.

The good uns in Nigeria are few and far between.

I truly despise illegal immigrants, they are nothing but parasites and are not beneficial to society.

At a guess, going by the 2001 census and my own perceptions living in England, I would estimate there to be less than 1 million Nigerians (including those born abroad) in Britain. 3mill is an over inflated estimation.
Travel / Re: Up To 3 Million Nigerians In Britan? by EloSela(f): 7:04am On Nov 17, 2008
Wikipedia is not a reliable source. grin You should be very wary of articles that don't use accurate references and are written with a personal slant/tone.

Blacks people (including Nigerians born in Nigeria) were around 2% of the UK population (just over 58m) according to the 2001 census and the CIA world fact book.  The population, as a whole has only grown by over 1% since that time. This doesn't count illegals though but I doubt that more than 50,000 Nigerian illegals would be able to hide on such a small Island.

@Lucabrasi

Misguided and confused What a joke! I understand that you are somewhat distressed by my insults but at the same time you really shouldn't run your mouth about things that you know nothing about.

Making out like you know everything about being a Black Briton just because you happen to be in the country for a few years on a student visa is ludicrous to say the least. The mere fact that you and others on here do not understand why people like me and others would get upset when you start talking ish about our country says volumes about your total lack of tact and respect.

It is now 2008 and we now have a black president. The man didn’t use his blackness to get where he is today. He didn’t play the race card and he didn’t let the crab mentality that so many black people like to use to bring their own down to get in his way. Neither did he play the victim; Many Americans did not think he was one of them and they made sure they let him know. A few days before the election I saw someone on ‘Faux’ news say that he was an Arab, before that they were referring to him as ‘Osama’.

I see it in much the same way as you harping on about how white people don’t see British born blacks like me as English or British, making it sound like it is our cross to bear when really it isn’t. People like me know who we are regardless of what people like you and white people think; Obama didn’t care what people though and so he reclaimed that American dream. He has showed us that it can be done and as far as I am concerned people like you can choke the next time you see a Black Briton referring to themselves as English if it really is an issue for you.

Could Britain have a black PM?

By Tom Geoghegan
BBC News Magazine

Now the US has elected its first black president, how long until the UK has a black or Asian prime minister?

When Barack Obama claimed that his story could only have happened in America, he might have been looking across the Atlantic for evidence.

The odds of a black or Asian person taking the keys to 10 Downing Street any time soon are slim.

Tony Blair acknowledged as much in 2001, when he said the US was way ahead of the UK in giving its top political jobs to people from ethnic minorities.

Mr Blair was mindful of Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice at the heart of the White House, but probably hadn't even heard of Obama.

In the US they dare to dream the American dream, talking about hope, using that kind of language is something that Americans do naturally
Baroness Amos

The president-elect, who has a white mother and black father, was careful not to invoke race in his campaign, which he won because of his ability to appeal to many parts of American society. But his success has been seen as a major step forward in a country scarred by slavery and segregation.

So why not a similar story in the UK, which had a Jewish prime minister in the 19th Century and this week celebrated a British black man becoming Formula One world champion?

There have only ever been three non-white Cabinet members in Britain and there are only 15 MPs (2% of the total). And while the US has black mayors and state governors, in Britain black and Asian local councillors are still thin on the ground - just 4% of the total.

Partly the transatlantic difference is about numbers. In the US, black people make up 13% of the population while in the UK it is 3%, rising to 8% for all ethnic minorities. They have also been living in the US far longer, although it is only in the last 40 years that they have been doing so on an equal footing.

Batman films

But figures only tell part of a wider story, which touches on class, ideology and political power.

Actor Colin McFarlane, who played a black prime minister in a primetime BBC drama four years ago, says don't hold your breath.

Researching the part and speaking to politicians about it, McFarlane realised how far away fiction was from reality, with the House of Commons dominated by public school-educated, white males.

"We realised that if there was to be a black prime minister, education would be the key. We identified a route not dissimilar to my own - public school in Cambridge then university."

Having spent a lot of time in the US - he appeared in two Batman films - he thinks the UK can learn from the way Americans responded to their racist history.

"Since the civil rights movement of the Sixties they have had to put in laws and rules in place because racism was more overt. It's more subtle in this country but there is a sense there's a glass ceiling across most industries.

"In America it's more acknowledged and they've put in positive discrimination. There was much resistance at the beginning but they have the fruits of that, which is people being forced into certain positions."

Consequently the US has a large and powerful black middle class, he says. While the UK is arguably more integrated, he says, a black prime minister will only be closer when there are more black business leaders and commissioning editors, operating the levers of power and educating society about black and Asian experiences.

In the US a fresh face like Obama can make it in one electoral cycle. In Britain it's generally a gradual process of service and promotion over many years, and often decades
Adam Afriyie

The British political system counts against a newcomer like Mr Obama bursting on to the scene, says black Conservative MP Adam Afriyie. He doesn't expect to see a black leader of the country in his lifetime.

"You need enough MPs from a variety of backgrounds and political parties that promote on merit.

"In the US a fresh face like Obama can make it in one electoral cycle. In Britain it's generally a gradual process of service and promotion over many years, and often decades, before leading a political party.

"An MP needs to get within electable distance of the leadership of their party and that usually means a successful stint in cabinet or shadow cabinet."

For Baroness Amos, one of only three black people to have sat in cabinet, much is down to the difference in attitudes to aspiration between the US and UK.

"In the US they dare to dream the American dream, talking about hope. Using that kind of language is something Americans do naturally. Here, we are I think culturally much more understated. We tend to be more cynical generally.

"And while I don't think we are anti-aspirational, the aspiration of what we are and who we are comes without the language of America. Americans are proud that they have brought about change no-one thought possible in the time they have.

"The language of Barack Obama and Martin Luther King is very singular to America but we're not able to use that kind of language. So we need to find a way to get out of that cynicism."

Pressure

There are also systemic problems in political parties and more needs to be done to train, support and mentor emerging talent from ethnic minorities, she says.

"You need to be plugged into networks. Political parties are a bit like families and communities, so you need to know the right people and the right people need to be speaking up on your behalf."

David Lammy, arguably Britain's most powerful black MP of the moment and a personal friend of Mr Obama, knows all about the label of "Britain's next black prime minister" - it was one pinned on him when he was elected to the Commons at 27.

"Of course a black prime minister is possible," he says. "After all, we elected our first female prime minister nearly 30 years ago, and we have made clear strides since then in showing how diverse Britain is.

"I think that in 10 years the representation will be much healthier but putting pressure on individuals is unhelpful and we need to do much more work within political parties to bring people on, because it's a long route to the top."

But there are grounds for optimism. A report by the Fabian Society estimates there will be 10 new black and Asian MPs at the next election.

IS THE ELECTORATE READY?
Sadiq Khan MP has no doubt it is
"The myth that ethnic minority candidates are vote-losers, or that black voters only vote for black candidates, has once and for all been dispelled."
"The electorate in the UK is very sophisticated and looks beyond skin colour at what candidates stand for."
"I've met and seen so many incredibly talented black and Asian politicians I think it could happen within 10 or 20 years"

And Simon Woolley, director of Operation Black Vote, says the US election marks a watershed that could mean a black prime minister in 10 or 20 years.

"The greatest problem has been the lack of self-belief that you see aspiring to the highest office and in one fell swoop the shackles have been broken. There's a deluge of talent but they may well be eclipsed by a new talent that could suddenly emerge with great dynamism and oratory skills."

The obstacles in the UK are still immense, he says, and all-black shortlists for candidates would help, but the "Barack Obama generation" has been a theme for the past year, driving people to serve in their community.

"We're asking them to come out of the shadows, to become leaders, school governors, magistrates and elected councillors, and they've responded fantastically.

"Obama's candidacy has energised a great number of people and many individuals are now standing for office."

The British Obama could already be among us.

If Duke were to become Nigeria's next president then it really wouldn't be a gound breaking feat like Obama. First of he is black like the rest of the countries populous unlike Obama.

Now if someone who happened to be of Indian, Oyibo or even Chinese descent but born in Nigeria decided to take run for President and won then that would be groundbreaking and on par with President Obama's success and be a changing experience in Nigeria. grin grin grin

cut out your flawed assertions please,as far as an average white american is concerned obama is black,he is from an islamic background and even with his american passport ,he is african, you think palin continually reffering to she and mccain as "real americans"is an error?
the undeniable fact is that obama was the right man for the job of getting americans out of the financial mess,some might not believe but i believe GOD played a huge part and it was crystal clear that mccain was more into foreign policy and winning in iraq at all cost and moving on to iran even tho the country was haemorraging money in a near depression

There you go again preaching that useless rhetoric about how white people view people like Obama. As I asked in the other thread so what? Seriously, you must be one insecure individual to really base your decisions and actions on what other people perceive you to be. I suppose in you are one of the ones that were saying that Obama wasn’t really an American, despite being born on American soil; That he shouldn’t run for President because white people did not see him as an American because his father was a Kenyan muslim and he was raised partly in Indonesia .   .    Not much different to the BS that you have been trying to sell me about my ‘English/British’ nationality and birthright.

I am glad that Obama brushed aside those crabs like you and assumed ownership of the land that he was born in, rising like the star he is to take ownership of the highest office in his country. Today history has been made despite people like you and the white man trying to keep black people from rightly claiming what is theirs by trying to fill their heads with BS about how they are not accepted in their country of birth simply because of the colour of their skin.

@ Poster
I think some Black Britons and Black Americans need to get over the defeatist attitude that they sometimes display when running away from what they are and the racism of the countries they were born and are nationals of. They need to stop trying to find acceptance in Africa where most wouldn’t last a week living the way most real Africans do. Black Britons and Black Americans need to keep preserving in their countries of birth and claim ownership of it and defeat the racism like Obama has done today.

They threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Obama; white Americans claiming that he wasn’t a real American, Black Americans saying that he didn’t really represent them because he didn’t descend from the slaves that built America like they had, even down to the likes of Jesse Jackson saying that he wanted to grab his balls for supposedly speaking down to Black Americans; but the man kept it moving.

Obama stood firm and told all of them that he was as much an American as they were. No he wasn’t his father, who was a Kenyan muslim and neither was any less American than they were because he was raised in Indonesia in a muslim setting. The man stood up and assumed his birthright and achieved what so many black people born in the Diaspora are afraid to even think about because the white man and some backward thinking black people like lucabrasi don’t see them as an equal citizens.

Well done President Obama! You have made everyone of African descent very proud. grin grin grin

So if I love Britain, I am not allowed to love Sapele?

@Sean2T

The articles you posted are nothing but sensationalism. As I said the Brits are natural nomads always looking for new pastures since the country is basically an Island but packed to capacity because everybody in the world wants to come here. The fact that people are still choca block outside of British embassies all over the world should tell you that it is still an attractive destination to many around the world. . . except for Nigerians of course grin grin grin

The fact that you are even mention that the Brits emigrate when you are today living in a country that came about by the very British you condemn started by emigration says loads about your ignorance. History has shown that the Brits generally don't emigrate to live of the countries that they emigrate to, in fact they build them. grin grin.

Why do you think there are plenty of US cities and towns named after British ones and other notable persons in British history? As well as the obvious ones like New England, New York and New Jersey there is also Reading in Pennsylvania, Isle of Wright counties in Virginia and Maryland, various towns and cities named after the British capital, London, Pittsburgh named after British prime minister William Pitt, Virginia named after the Virgin Queen Elizabeth of England, Pennsylvania named after Briton William Penn, Maryland named after Queen Mary, a number of places named after Hampton in England, Edinburgh in Virginia, Georgia after King George II of England and the states of North and South Carolinas, Carolina meaning rivers of Charles, Charles as in King Charles II of England, Scotland and Wales, Baltimore named after Lord Baltimore of Britain, Philadelphia named by William Penn among many others. In case it escaped you the first presidents of the US were all also of British descent.

Then in Canada the same thing more or less, places like Scarborough, London, Edmonton, British Columbia etc. I recently came back from Australia where their were loads of places like Kings Cross, West Dulwich, sydenham, Camberwell etc, the same in New Zealand. The Queen's head also adorns all of the coins in Canada, Australia and New Zealand just like they do in Britain because she is the Queen of those countries too . .so I ask again would these countries have existed as they are today if the British had not emigrated in record numbers? As I said before, why did you bring it up like it is something new? Americans are leaving their shores to for various places around Europe how comes you are not concerned about that?

What Point are U trying to make with the Brits immigrating to US statement. This is about Brits hating immigrants. How did USA get involve in this. No Country Likes Immigrants comming in and I understand The Brits Pain. Britain is a small Island with over 60 million and counting. I do not blame them for Complaining.I read a article on Times sometime this year explaining that the British People where Leaving Britain in record number. Their number one reason for leaving was over-population.

You have never been to Britain let alone lived there yet you can already swear on your life from reading a few blogs that immigrants are hated by everyone in the UK. Yet you accuse me, someone who has lived here for most of their life of being in denial?

I brought up the USA because that is where you live and you wondered why the Brits emigrated so much to other countries. My point being Brits have always emigrated and that is how countries such as the one you live in and others came about; that they are emigrating today is nothing new or a sign of the times like many are making it out to be.

Check out the Americans in the UK forums to see how many Americans are trying to live in the UK. Is it a big deal? no. So why bring up the fact that Brits are emigrating like it is a new phenomenon??

As per usual instead of using this opportunity to convey some sense you have resorted to going on a mindless tangent.

You came in here and asked how many black TV presenters were present on black TV, asked how many black politicians there were and what not. I gave you a list of some and still you had the nerve to come back and belligerently slate what those people did.

For your information Moira Stuart was not the first black person on TV and so you need to check your facts before coming in here.

Did Isha Sesay start her career with CNN? The mere fact that she was educated trained and gained her world class experience from working at the BBC (the largest broadcaster in the world; CNN is no.2) and Sky news speaks volumes and puts to bed your point. Or do you think CNN employs amateurs?? Do you think CNN or any news broadcaster in the world would turn down someone with experience from working at the BBC?

Femi Oke has more or less the same CV as Isha. Born, trained and educated in Britain, Media experience gained at the BBC and ITV which allowed her to be in good standing to work for CNN where she has now moved on from.

June Sarpong presented on channel 4 for nine long years and recently received an MBE for her work to media services just last year. Isn't that long enough?

There are a number of black news readers currently working at the BBC, Sky news and Channel 4 but of course I wouldn't expect the likes of you to watch the news on a regular basis given the amount of drivel you regularly come out with on NL.

You said that there were no Black MPs and I gave you a few. Whether these people are currently in position or not is not the issue here. The fact is you implied that there were none and I proved you wrong. These people were all elected members of parliament mind you and it doesn't matter if some like Diane Abbot are only representatives of areas where blacks are the majority. The fact remains that your previous outburst about black people in the UK was based on nothing but hot gas and ignorance.

And which 'Thamesmead' are terraced houses going for £150K? I am talking about real Victorian terraces. Dream on son.  .   .  !

Back to the point at hand, you asked how many,I gave you a list and asked how many would satisfy you given the small number of blacks  or would that be ethnic minorities in the UK. (whites are still over 90% of the populous going by the link you sent). You have constantly dodged the question and continued on a mindless bitter racist rant against the UK and black Britons.

You went on about the state of the British economy and now you are ranting about the national debt like the UK is the only country in the world that has one and about the KGB. . The fact that you can't seem to get it into your head that my citizenship and how I define myself is really none of your concern also baffles me. I have already asked you not to lose any sleep over my 'Englishness' yet your ameobo a$$ refuses to let it go. You really need to take a serious long break from NL and take whatever meds the Doctor prescribed before you type anything else on here because you really do sound demented.

Where are the black people in Mumbai? I was there two weeks ago and hardly saw any. In fact the three I saw were tourists like me. I went to Churchgate, Bhandra, juju beach, the area around atria mall, the area around Ghandi'd house, Narin drive, the gateway of India and everyone was looking at me, deep in the face like they had never seen a black person before. The women were also fascinated with my hair, which was in braids and kept calling me Venus Williams even though I look nothing like her  .   .    .lol!  Very friendly people though.

@Lucabrasi
Ethnic minorities (Asians and Blacks) in the UK make up less than 4% of the population so again I ask you; What types of numbers would satisfy you? You complain about the lack of TV presenters like there aren't any at all on British TV when we have quite a few e.g. June Sarpong, Trevor Macdonald, Mica Paris, Diane Louise Jordan, Moira Stewart, Josie D'arby, Isha Sesay, Femi Oke, Margherita Taylor, Trisha Goddard, Angellica Belle, the list is long. Then we have black MPs and politicians, Paul Boatang, David Lammy, Diane Abbott, Oona King, Baroness Valerie Amos Dawn Butler and more including the Nigerian immigrant who not too long ago became the Mayor of Dagenham. Again I ask, how many do you expect to see in a country with a small number of blacks like Britain? France only recently celebrated their first black TV presenter for prime time TV in 2006 and you are talking about Britain where the likes of  Sir Trevor Macdonald OBE and Moira Stewart etc. have been presenting for almost as long as black people had a significant presence in this country.

As for Britain's economy being in shambles; it is unbelievable how naive you can be. Is this the first time Britain has been through a recession? This is a country that has been around for thousands of years, being at the centre and has survived two world wars. Recession or not, The electricity will continue to be generated, people will not starve, You will never get a terraced house in London for less than a £150k, houses in West London will continue to remain some of the most expensive in the world, public transport in every city metro will continue to run, the major infrastructures will not fail and universities and schools will not go on strike. So continue to delude yourself into thinking that the measly £10,000 or so that you pay for your education is somehow running the country. lol. Stop wasting time and go to America, a country that came about by the British emigrating and stop talking foolishness  . grin grin grin

Also how many times do I have to tell you that I, unlike you, do not put too much weight on what white people think of me, a black woman born in Britain? The sooner you understand that the better. I know who I am and what I am entitled to as a British born citizen and yes I will call myself English too and you and the other white people can choke on that if irks you that much. grin

You may think it is just a red passport but then again that speaks volumes about your naivety. For instance red passports can go around the world a lot easier visa free than green ones.  grin grin grin grin Benefits to British citizenship are full rights and privileges for work, education, healthcare, state care and unrestricted movement across the European Union. A British national can also seek assistance and expect assistance from any UK embassy in the world which would of course come in handy if one were stranded in war zone for instance.  A British national can also work in any of these embassies around the world representing Britain. I can become an MP, Lord Mayor etc. I can not be deported from my birth land neither can my citizenship be revoked, if I were to commit a crime in a foreign land I will be deported to Britain not Nigeria like you would be . . these are basic things of course but you make it seem like such basics are out of reach for black Britons when that is far from the truth. You as a Nigerian national in the UK are not entitled to these things so how are we politically the same again?

did you see both the reublican and democratic candidates falling over themselves in re assuring illegal immigrants of treating them right if they are voted in??compare it to the british crowing on and on about how much immigrants are stealing their jobs,so much that the word"immigrant "is an ugly word people rarely mention, dyu really see any british home office mp saying we need immigrants?or any pm and shadow pm saying so, i don't think so

Black people are less than 2% of the UK population. Given that what sort of numbers do you think would be a good representative of the black population in the industries you mentioned above? And if you are so unhappy why don't you go back to Nigeria?

SeanT21:

Its funny how the British People complain about immigrants but want to leave and be immigrants in another country!!!

There is nothing funny or even new about it. If it wasn't for the British emigrating the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Canada would not even exist as they are today.

Hi Guys

I know this girl indirectly through her sister. Natasha's Dad (Bajan) had an relationship with her mum (Nigerian) after meeting in England. They then broke up and the mum moved to Nigeria with baby Natasha. Teen Natasha then moved to the US with her mother and has been there ever since. Natasha hardly knows her Dad and is more in tune with her Nigerian side than she is with the Bajan. She is very close to her sister though, my friend, who is full Bajan.  .  .she is indeed Nigerian so show the sister some love and vote! grin grin grin grin grin

You can never compare two places with success. Each one has its failure like this thread shows . Access to the good infrastructure of developed countries and also the "inner happiness" of home is very desirable but sadly it is often Utopia . Don't forget that most Britons hate their climate because they only have about 120 days of sunshine in a year while we have sunshine all year round. Thousands of them leave the UK every year because of this reason alone and most never return until they are old and almost ready to be buried. The British weather is one of the biggest joke in the world and it gets worse and worse. (Damn i should have posted some pics on this. Too late angry )
Do Naija abroad put same energy into Nigeria as they do on the job they do abroad and into paying their huge bills abroad ? Certainly not , else you should be looking to find the means to succeed in your own little businesses at home rather than looking for where " things seems to be going bad and bad " .I am sure when you are in uk or wherever , you are not looking for where things are going bad and bad otherwise you will not be living there at all. My sister YOU are the brain gain that Nigeria needs, stop looking for anyone else to do it for you. It is neither good , bad or shameful to live abroad away from home , after all home is where your heart is, but if your heart is in Naija and you are settling down elsewhere where you are ill at ease - big problem for you .

Sorry I must really and finally leave this thread now.

@Busy body
You know where to find me. Usual place at Yaba left grin

@Parfun

A little history lesson for you

Making a point by saying Britons are leaving the country is really besides the point. Britons, since the beginning of time have always emigrated all over the world and set up their own communities and it is no different today. How do you think countries like the Australia, New Zealand, and Canada became what we know them as today? In case it escaped you the Queen of England is also the Queen of Australia, New Zealand and Canada too so if Britons are still emigrating to these countries today it is nothing new. Why do you think more than half the world speaks the language (English) of a tiny little Island today?

Further more, the United States of America also came about during the revolution when 13 British colonies on the East coast including New York, Virginia, Carolina,New Hampshire, Connecticut, New England, New Jersey and Pennsylvania were lost by Britain because the King of England at the time was a tyrant and insisted on charging too much tax to the British who set up and lived in those colonies. Those 13 British colonies then went on to become the original United States of America. The declaration was also signed by men who had descended from Britons such as Jefferson, Washington, Franklin and Adams some of who went on to become the first presidents of the USA.

As I said previously when I first addressed your thread, concern yourself with fixing up Nigeria so that people won't leave instead of downing other countries to make yourself feel better about the pitiful state that Nigeria as the only people to blame for that are Nigerians. grin grin ;DThat being said I would like to thank you because maybe. . .just maybe your post may have had a positive effect on those people queueing up at the British embassy in their droves trying to get their visas sorted out, so much so that they give up. grin grin grin grin

Hahaha grin grin grin grin grin and the thief James Watson claimed black people are not smart.

Well here is intelligence at its finest. What people have to realize that some of the most intelligent people on earth tend to fuel the intelligence and energy to what might be considered a crime. Yes what he did is a crime and a brilliant one at that but. . . Yes there is a but because colonizing other people's country is also a crime but not one punishable by a jail sentence.

On a tangent to hollywoodizing this, it won't and if it is the main character will not be African. The movie about college kids that scammed a casino big time actually happened with some Asian kids but the roles were played by white. So the person trying to say there is no racism involved should probably open his or her eyes (also Angelina Jolie played an Arabic woman who her husband was married) hmm.

Also the comment about Igbo, funny to Nairalanders he is Igbo now but to Americans he is still Nigerian too bad!!

His intelligence still amazes me. Probably why he got a student visa. He is smart as hell. That is intelligence, he probably couldn't make it with other things so he turned to what works.

If this bugger was so 'intelligent' then they wouldn't have been on to his a$$ now. Real intelligent criminals don't get caught or they usually only get caught after years upon years of crime after having spent their young years enjoying a lavish lifestyle. This idiot only entered the US in 2000 and yet he is already the most wanted man in America. He should just turn himself in and be prepared to spend at least 60 years in prison without parole playing wifey to big Bubba and em. lol! It is either that or wait for the trigger happy FBI to catch up with him and shoot him dead; The FBI in turn will claim that they had no other option because he was trying to run away.

@Pie1ect

I agree totally. People should stop moaning about $30million being too much. That amount is not too much for a country of Nigeria's ilk. Instead of them to use this opportunity to build infrastructure up to world standards, public transport, good roads etc. they are pathetically moaning about priorities and at the same time ruining Nigeria' global image

It really isn't about the money but about the gross incompetency and severe inability of the Nigerian government to actually take a budget, stick to it and at the same time build infrastructure which would aid the hosting of such events which would also benefit the people in the long term.

@PrinceKevo

You said it better than I could.
Politics / Re: Should Nigeria Host The U-17 World Cup by EloSela(f): 6:02pm On Oct 24, 2008
Nigeria could have used this opportunity to improve their roads, finally build a good transport and rail infrastructure and reintroduce Nigeria to the rest of the world, bringing much need tourist revenue to the people. That is what most countries do when they are keyed to host world tournaments e.g.Beijing 2008. It is not like Nigeria doesn't have $300 million either. So why the hullabaloo? Just use the opportunity to improve the country for all Nigerians.

@Landis
So Britain gets the entire blame for Nigerian thieves?

Also the monarchy and the UK banks are separate entities in case it escaped you.

@ikeyman00

No the same can not be said about Nigerian money. You and others are trying to absolve the thieves of all blame and focus on the British banks. You mentioned Bush. . . Has America or any of the others countries apart from the Swiss returned money stashed away in their banks by Nigerian criminals?
Travel / Re: Ugly Britain by EloSela(f): 1:20pm On Oct 13, 2008
@Landis
I have already told you that it is not my duty to enquire about why the banks refuse to release the money stolen from Nigeria by Nigerians and and neither do I care. Why should I? The money returned will only be shared among the top people in government anyway and Nigeria will continue to remain the same.

Nigerians who turned out to be thieves, legally deposited the money in UK banks. And so The Nigerian government should take responsibility of their own thieves and ask them to withdraw the money they stole and return it back to their country.

I am proud of Britain yes. . . is that a crime? So I am not allowed to be proud of the country that I was born in and at the same time not be in accordance with some of their policies? How many Nigerians love Nigeria but don't agree with all her policies? The same for America and Americans. Why is that a new phenomenon for you?

From Financial Times
The historical record of Nigeria's exploitation, first as a source of slaves, then as a British colony, and finally as a nominally independent country, with military dictatorships kept in power with Western backing, tells a very different story. (The military has ruled Nigeria for 30 of its 40 years of independence). The fact that the billions of dollars taken by those dictators ended up back in the hands of European and US bankers puts the final piece of the jigsaw into place.

Right from the start, the British rulers set up a system of patronage, so as to keep a section of the African people (especially the elite) on their side, and minimise the need for stationing troops permanently in their colonial possessions. When independence was given in the 1960s, the British ensured that power stayed in the hands of the elite they had nurtured.

This is quite a sad article. The British were wrong and I have always resented them for making Delta state a part of Nigeria. Nigeria is a failed state because of British greed and the incompetence of Nigerian leaders. Oh well it is a winners world as they say.

Anyway who says that the British don't publish anything negative about themselves? Wasn't this article taken from the British Financial Times?

You exposed yourself: how can thieves deposited money be LEGAL. Only in 'Queen of Thief' land.

see a  lost blackwoman: When brits came to slave your people. It was legal but to return looted money of same people, it becomes wahala.

Even FT recognised the needs to return our money your Illega Queen is keeping our looted money and properties.

If a Nigerian presents themselves at a British bank wanting to deposit money should it be assumed that he is a thief? That seems to be the case from what you are saying.
From my understanding, most people can deposit a sum of money in a uk bank if they have the right requirements. If it is found later on that these people are thieves then it is down to the Nigerian government to bring their own thieves to justice and to order then to return the money that they deposited instead of expecting another government to do it for them.

About the slave thing. . .Is Nigeria the only country that was enslaved? Enslaved black people practically built America and some of them will even cut you if you try to refer to them as a non-American with some quite grateful that their ancestors got on the boat! If a ship bound for the UK docked at Lagos port today in 2008 how many Nigerians do you think would kill themselves to be on it?
